  1. I agree on Tetsuro. Nerd to max! Plus if Tetsuro were my friend I would have a decent chance of getting the Guyver for myself! Woot!
  2. So. I should have done this a while ago. But I'd like offer Sully congratulations for joining the staff team. Also I would like extend my thanks for what he's doing for Japan Legend.
  3. Let's say Thanos does not have the Infinity Gems, since he is invincible when he has them. The only reason he was defeated the one time he was wielding them when their power was allowed to work in unison - which they have not been for a long time thanks to the Living Tribunal, severely curtailing their power - was that Adam Warlock was already inside one of the gems and managed to snatch the power from Thanos from within. But even without the Gems, Thanos might be the most dangerous individual in the Marvel universe. To explain just what or who he is, I need to go deep for a while. In the Marvel universe, Earth is populated by a range of intelligent races. However, most of them are related as they are ultimately descended from a species of human - probably Homo Ergaster. About a million years ago, representatives of a race of alien gods, usually called the Celestials, came to Earth to experiment on the natives. They took some early humans and genetically altered them, creating three groups: the Deviants, genetically unstable beings who look like monsters and demons to human eyes; human beings, who are unassuming, but possess the capacity to develop a vast array of super-powers; and Eternals, who are immortal and possess immense, god-like abilities. Anyway. A yonks age ago, a group of Eternals left Earth after a civil war and established a colony on Uranus. Later, some of them left, but crashed on the moon Titan, establishing a new colony. Much later, another Eternal (A'lars, later known as Mentor) left Earth, to avoid a civil war this time, and decided to seek out the Eternals who had left Earth before. But he discovered the colony had died out (Yeah, turns out that immortality thing didn't fully develiop until later) except for one single woman called Sui-San, whom he married. They had kids (I am guessing they had other Eternals join them, too) and everything seemed just peachy. Here's where we get to the meat. The first son of Mentor and Sui-San was deformed. He carried the 'Deviant gene' (which makes no sense, but whatever) and looked ugly and brutish compared to the other Eternals, especially his younger brother, Eros. The older son was named Thanos. His mother tried to kill him the moment she lay eyes on him, claiming he would destroy them all. Well. Thanos grew up normal enough at first, despite his odd looks, because Eternal society was advanced and stable. But gradually he developed an unnatural and unhealthy fascination for death. Or, rather, for Death - because in the Marvel Universe, the phenomenon Death has an actual embodiment. She usually looks like a female (sic) skeleton in a deep purple hooded cloak and almost never speaks. I wouldn't say she's evil. She's a necessary part of existence. But sometimes she gets a little tetchy when she thinks her interests are threatened. Anyway, Thanos fell in love with her, and decided he would do anything to make her happy, which unfortunately meant he was going to kill lots and lots of people. He left Titan, travelled the galaxy, gathered an army around himself and eventually returned to his ancestral home and dropped a nuclear bomb on it. Some say Sui-San was killed in the bombardment, others that Thanos found her alive and vivisected her to discover why he was different from the other Eternals. It never really got better from that moment on. Thanos loves Death and will do anything to win her favor. His most ambitious project was obtaining the six Infinity Gems and uniting their power in his famous gauntlet, which allowed him to manipulate reality as if he were God - or Eternity, anyway. He could control everything in the universe. On this occasion the Living Tribunal did not interfere because Thanos only wanted to supplant Eternity's position. Anyway, he failed, and he's never done anything on that level ever again. He did undergo a personal evolution, becoming more about soul-searching and less about killing everybody, even attaining finally what he always wanted: to be at Death's side. Unfortunately it became necessary to return him to life and make him immortal, and Death has spurned him ever since, driving him to murderous madness once more. His latest project involved killing all his living offspring in the universe in another desperate attempt to regain her affection. Thing is, it's been called into question whether Thanos really has a relationship with the (very much real) embodiment of Death, or whether it's all in his head. Thanos is a very interesting and complex character. As for power: Thanos has strived his entire life to make himself as powerful as he possibly can be. And he was born an Eternal. He has undergone biochemical, cybernetic and mystical enhancement, and has mastered pretty much any kind of technology, including magic. He's as strong and invulnerable as the Hulk, extremely intelligent and capable of various radiant energy attacks (all Eternals are). By comparison, Apocalypse seems outclassed. Born in Egypt, about 5000 years ago, he was one of the first manifested mutants (and mutants are people in which the genetic changes by the Celestials, which create super-powers, have become active). His power was basically that he could change his shape and that he was immortal (There are a bunch of naturally immortal mutants. These guys are known as X-Ternals, as a reference to the Eternals. Cute.) . However, after a few years or centuries, on his journeys, he discovered something extraordinary - a crashed alien vessel, which activated upon his entry, and greatly enhanced his abilities. The space ship was another artifact of the Celestials and it contacted them; and he, in return, managed to broker a deal with them, to receive great power in return for his servitude. Just what this servitude entailed is not clear, but it might have something to do with his life philosophy: he believes in natural selection, that the strongest should survive and that circumstances have to be arranged so that only the strongest survive. That was his thing. He kept plaguing the X-Men, got killed almost every time and inevitably returned time and time again. His biology is such that if even a single drop of blood of him remains, he will survive. Even his disembodied consciousness is capable of survival inside a suitable host. He's really powerful, but I don't think he's on Thanos' level. He's a lot older, I should think, but he hasn't learned nearly as much. He remains a simple thinker, who mainly uses brute force and base cunning to force a situation in which the strong must fight to survive. His arena is planetary, at most, while Thanos' is all of reality. But in a one-on-one battle? ..I'd still give it to Thanos, but it'd be a hell of a fight.

Well, we just went to a cafe and talked. he was a really nice guy and had nice blue eyes, and seems really honest and open. We talked about a lot of things and seem to have a lot of interests in common. I think maybe I like him and I'd like to hang out with him again. I've never experienced actual attraction to a man but maybe this is something that comes with time? I mean, other than seeing eyes on TV and finding them attractive...
  6. So, which guyver character would you want as a friend in real life? I'd honestly want to be really good friends with Tetsuro Segowa. He's smart, funny, and he's loyal...you really don't have to worry about him stabbing you in the back over petty things. The way he's supportive of Sho and has always been there for him speaks volumes about him. He's into video games and science fiction. He'd be the perfect person to hang out with.
  7. Oh yeah. Binge watching is fun. When you can actually get to doing it. I know I did it with the 2005 Guyver series. Breaking Bad, Game of thrones, Daredevil. Yup. But most times I can't get around to it. So much to do!!
  8. I'm not sure which one I'd get along specifically. All my friends say I can get along with anyone unless they're close minded. I guess I'd get along with Natsuki as she's an independent woman like me. Maybe even Shin and Purgstall if I were working for Cronos in some form or fashion.
  9. This is where it gets complex. The Uranus in Guyver armour (though for them it's not called that, no idea what the official name is then) but they were said to be 1/10 the strength of a Guyver. As a symbiotic relationship the Guyver armour ultimately is only as strong as its host bio-boosted potential. The Guyver armour without the Control Medal is even scarier and can merge creatures together, so if you shot it, I doubt shooting it would help you much and you'd be lunch very soon. The only thing holding that back is it gains a level of smarts from what it absorbs and might be smart enough not to eat it's food source. In saying that the only thing that would stop that level of danger is another Guyver or Enzyme Zoanoids.
  10. Hello all, I thought I would start this collections thread so everyone can share the goodness. I don't have all of my pics with me right now so I will update later.
  11. So. We're all friends of the founding mother of Japan Legend. Share your opinion and thoughts on a quality that you really like about Jess aka Yuki. I think it'd be great if we can all say something that we all reach out and extend our thanks for her and the GA for creating this great community. So, if you'd like. I would like to say that I'm thankful that she created this community, I think Jess and I have a lot in common, she's a great friend, and she's helped me through some hard times.
  12. 17 years ago today, I officially joined Brian O'Sullivan in making a dual fan-fiction based in the same world. When I joined, we did a small collaboration picture of our two characters together... And since we are back, and updating the site, we figured we'd do a new one to celebrate. That's right... All the way back in 1998. I've been doing this off and on for 17 years. Scary. *Note* Brian did start the Warrior Guyver fanfiction site before this specific date, but this one is related to the pic in question.
  13. How did you get into anime and what was the first anime you watched? When I got into anime, honestly the first anime I ever watched was Dragon Ball Z. I first watched it on Cartoon Network when I was 12 years old. I didn't really get into anime until I was 14. But I started out as a big DBZ fan and than watched the Guyver OVA a little later on.
  14. Most likely Shinto. Most Japanese people are.
  15. Something just occurred to me. What if Galenos' power is radioactivity? Guyot controls gravity, one of the four basic forces. Purgstall controlled electromagnetism (well, electricity, anyway). Why not the weak nuclear force? Might also explain the reticence to field him: a battle against him would be scorched earth, no matter who won or lost. (And I am not sure how a power based on the strong nuclear force would work. Transmutation? Thermonuclear fusion? Creating strangelets?) Purgstall's power was pretty cool to me, but that is because I love me an electrical arc. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GiIVze2Tac
  16. The first one was GoShogun (Macron 1 - US adaptation) Don't remember exact year, maybe it was ~1990-1991, I was 5 yo. Watched it on VHS. Loved that show, still one of my favs. And then there was Guyver 12ep (~1993). Despite I super liked it, I've not got into anime till 2006 when I rewatched Guyver 12ep and started watching other random animes. I remember there where many animes on Russian TV back in 90' - Sailor Moon, Grendizer, Candy Candy etc, but I paid zero attention to them.
  17. The only game I seriously "multiplaying" is Half Life 1. Other than that I multyplayed CS 1.6 (~8 years ago) and ArmA 3 (only 20-30 plays total). Now I have no intention to play some other games online, so for new games it will be Singleplayer. ----------------- Hey btw if someone wants their ass kicked hard in Half Life 1 let me know
  18. I look forward to coming back and reading fully and replying fully. I think I'd like to suggest we ask the question, how do we know any of what we see even exists? We can elaborate from there.
  19. Single player all day. Never been much of an online or multiplayer type.

I like scrambled or over easy eggs and hashbrowns any time of the day! Ah yes... so good! I don't know why, but I prefer the egg whites of late. But scrambled are perfect too! Most of the time around mid night. I get the late night munchies and I mainly prefer cooking 4 eggs before bed sometimes. Sometimes a full stomach helps me sleep better. Although over easy eggs taste more juicy.

Sweet! I had egg whites and wheat toast. Yours was way better.
  22. I remember even to this day. I watched Guyver OVA 3 - The Third Shadow on the 27th of November 1994, My Birthday. I've been hooked ever since. Its funny I asked my mother once "What made you buy Guyver?". She said she doesn't remember but I can honestly say that it was one of, if not the best birthday presents I've ever had.
  23. Hmm honestly Waferdanos. His very wise plus he must have very interesting perspectives on life and world being both very old and a plant. I could just sit and talk for hours with someone like that. Also I've always related to his situation. We both spent a lot of are lives alone and isolated until someone helped us free ourselves and enabled us to live lives we could be proud of (although his problem was physical and mine was mental).
  24. My older brother got me into it at a young age. Vampire Hunter D, Fist of the northstar, Ninja Scroll, Iria, Akira... Then I got into Guyver alone about 14. Saw the OVA and went ape. Also got into DBZ, Neon Genesis and a bunch more. There was a cool Anime store in my area back then you could go to and watch movies\series. They had some cool import stuff.
  25. Seeing this thread makes me want to get my man cave organised so my Guyver collection is in place properly.

that's very kind!! but you realise... that is the very opposite of small talk!
  27. Kind of like Tiber Septim from the Elder Scrolls? He went from a man/ demi god to become a god right after he died. Not really.... Tiber Septim didn't become Talos. 3 different men became Talos; Tiber Septim, Ysmir Wulfharth, Turin Arcturus who mantled Lorkhan. They were so much like Lorkhan that the Universe couldn't tell the difference between them and so they became Talos. Just like how the Champion of Cyrodiil in Oblivion Mantled Sheogorath and in the end became Sheogorath.
  28. Very nice. I'm still trawling the Internet to get my collection going
  29. You say apocalypse but the image is that of Darkseid (or perhaps this is a DC version of Apocalypse that I'm not aware of). If you're talking about Apocalypse of the X-men, Thanos will definitely wipe his arse on the floor. Darkseid, however, is a different story. If this is somehow a DC Apocalypse, then I do not have enough information to offer an opinion.

This could be interesting. Check out the trailer.
  31. While traitorous he has his uses. He's a good destabilizing element to throw into the mix as a distraction. He's also smart and dangerous which can be good if used right. Also everyone thought he was dead, none suspects, expects or makes plans for dead men. The only thing you must never do is trust him. As a Proto-Zoalord his body is likely unstable like Murakami's which means he may need constant medical treatment. It lets them keep him on a short leash.

Of course you are. That's why I like talking to you. You give the best advise on a lot things. You've really made my life uncomplicated in the past. That is for sure. I don't know where I'd be today if I hadn't come to you.
