I always thought that they weren't the greatest Avengers as everyone had powers or are capable of having super powers like Tony Stark. These two just have skills. What are your thoughts?

For these two Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, even getting to the battle is a struggle…

They are certainly some of the least powerful of the current cast, yes, but certainly not the "Worst".

I mean, they make Cap out to be quite a bit tougher... But really he isn't much tougher than Hawkeye. And carries a shield? Technically Hawkeye would be the better choice, especially with his gimmicky arrows.

And Widows weapons kind of change over the 4 movies she has been in... But Guns usually remain a constant for her. Guns vs a shield? I honestly know what I'd choose. And she's a trained assassin as well. So physically she's a contender as well.

In other words: Captain America is the worst Avenger.

...Except he's also supposed to be a great leader too...

So I guess no one is worst.

It's a matter of tradition.

The original Avengers were the Hulk, Iron Man, Ant-Man and the Wasp and Thor. The Hulk left after issue #2, and in number 4 they found Captain America.

For a while it was like that, but eventually the Wasp, Ant-Man, Thor and Iron Man left, and Captain America was left with new recruits Hawkeye, Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch. Now, Hawkeye had been introduced in an Iron Man story a while before, followed shortly by the Black Widow (or was it the other way around?); a few issues after that, they were paired up, and they were a couple for a while afterwards. But while Hawkeye joined the Avengers in #16, the Widow only became one of them in #111.

So while Hawkeye's only 'power' is incredible marksmanship with the bow, he is a traditional Avenger. And, really, so is the Black Widow. They both led the Avengers at one point, and they both also led their own team - the Thunderbolts in Hawkeye's case, and Force Works in the Widow's.

Hawkeye was frustrated, being relatively 'powerless' as an Avenger; so after ingesting an experimental drug created by Hank Pym (Ant-Man) he had the ability to grow to giant size for a while, using the name Goliath. So far as I remember he unfortunately never used his bow while at giant size.

Hmmm. In a few weeks, Ant-Man the movie will come out. That opens possibilities.

Aww, poor Doctor Druid. Talk about characters getting shafted! If you ever want to see a comic book character really get p!$$ed on in his own magazine, you should try to get the 1995 mini-series Druid.

And it's not fair. He is even older than the Fantastic Four. And a lot older than Doctor Strange.

I wouldn't call them the worst. What they lack in powers they make up for in experience. Both Hawkeye and Widow have just as much if not more combat experience then cap and are more skilled fighters Ironman, Tony's good but he's not a soldier (in the movies anyway).

These are people who fight robots, mutants and aliens without super powers or the seemingly limitless resources that Tony, Batman and Green Arrow have. That makes them stand shoulder to shoulder with their team mates in my eyes.

Plus because their "normal" they are the people that most villains are going underestimate which gives them a unique advantage.

why has nobody mentioned that Black Widow has the same 'power' as capta ?

more to the point why do they utterly fail to mention this at all in the movies?

I didn't know it until my brother told me. Natasha Romanov had the super soldier serum.

Natasha has never gotten the "Super Soldier" serum.

She was biologically enhanced by the KGB in the comics, but not with the Super Soldier serum. Probably just a cocktail of different drugs. They never specified if this happened in the movies at all, but her recent past being close to what it is in the comics, probably holds true. But definitely not the Super Soldier serum.

I think the catch phrase there is "variant".  They were never able to duplicate the super soldier serum, which makes Captain America unique (or so they claim),  It might be similar to the infinity formula of Nick Fury (but after original sin, I'm having doubts about the existence of the Infinity Formula). It's probably to keep her youth, but not maximize her capabilities to that of a peak human like that of Steve Rogers.

Besides, even with the super soldier serum, they are still considered relatively human, meaning what they do can be replicated by any normal human.
