The Naruto Manga is now officially complete, although it seems the next movie (which might not be 100% canon) could take it a little further.

Very few series last as long as this, and are able to go out on such a high note and while still popular.

What are your thoughts on the series?

Over the years, I know for me that there were a few dry spells in the plot that, while I didn't drop it, I kind of ignored it/forgot about it for a few months. Only to come back and catch up all at once. (As a side note, I actively stopped watching the TV series when the "Young" Manga plot ended, before the "Shippuden" story started. I am not a fan of filler, and Naruto to me was notorious for making the filler feel like nothing in the previous season mattered, nor would anything he did in the filler matter later.)

While the manga itself was always aimed towards a slightly younger audience, it very rarely ever felt actually "Kiddie" and got pretty dark and moody sometimes. Though sometimes it felt like it was holding your hand. The action, was always well done, and usually every year had at least one generally touching and/or legitimately great moment.

Over the years, I think Naruto ( and most Shonen series) got a bad rap from other fanbases because of horrible fans. But like everything, there are always "bad fans". Naruto was just so popular that they were just greater in number, and louder, so they stuck out a lot more.

Now that it is finished, I think it can give a lot of people who never read it due to popularity and such, a real opportunity to give it a chance.

IF I had to put it on a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a definite 7, maybe an 8.

You could always count on it for some great action, and numerous very touching moments.

I'll go into what I thought about the actual ending in a bit. Probably should do some work.

I have only seen a handful of episodes and the first volume of the manga. Not really my thing. Now my brother on the other hand... he is a HUGE Naruto fan. I'll have to get his thoughts on the finale.

Started watching the anime but I dropped it when Sasuke went rogue for the sake of revenge. I found Naruto kinda of annoying, and the only character that matter in my opinion was Rock Lee.

Also, for a series about ninjas, they felt like magicians to me. Only a handful of the specialties felt like actual ninja skills.

I got into the series quite late (at the start of shippuden) thanks to is fanbase putting me off. I've followed it but I've never liked as much as my big three DBZ, Toriko and One Piece.

Its had its good, its bad and its down right stupid but on the whole it been a fun read.

Can't stand the anime, but I loved the manga. Followed it all the way through till the end. I really enjoyed the final few story arcs. I think over all the manga was solid, and that it should not be overlooked by future generations just because it has been over hyped by fans. The series has a lot of interesting characters, and a good amount of action that should please any casual manga reader. I am sad to see the series end, but I am glad to see what happened to the characters when they got older. The series got a real nice send off.

It's not an epic or a disappointing ending.  It's just "Meh" for me.  Probably because all the people who ended up together were the people I expected to end up together.  In a way, Kishimoto has a somewhat predictable story-telling style, for Naruto at least.
