odin Posted June 21, 2013 Author Posted June 21, 2013 Thank You Vguyver and Mirabilis for the help and suggestions I am currently working only on the art and programing for the game at the moment so I have not had the time to do anything regarding music and sound design so if you guys want to help out on that I already said that you are more than welcomed to help, this is still an open project until I have enough people to help out on this, my moving to the states is keeping more occupied than expected so I have not been able to do much but the project is still going strong, I am trying to get familiar with the Game Maker Studio that i bought to make this game. as for update I can only bring you the mechanics that i want to implement on the game, I will bring a full written update on the game saturday on the first post of this thread as well as an in depth detail of what needs to be done with the game.As i said before the game will be a Beat-em up where you go through at least 7 short stages (trying to keep it simple) where you can pick either Sho, Agito, Aptom and face various chronos enemies, since there is a lot of enemy variety in the guyver mythos there wont be a need to make color swap for stronger enemies. you beat enemies by obviously doing a series of attacks be it by punching or kicking or doing a characters special move, you depending on the stage you will face Hyper Zoanoids sub bosses (at least the memorable ones) and then Zoalords as Bosses with one or two secret bosses which I have not decided. Out of the 7 stages 3 of those will not be against Zoalords but some other characters that I will not reveal just yet but I will let you guys vote which of the 12 Zoalords you would like to face in the game, Gyout and Archanfel will undoubtedly be in the game so those 2 don't count for vote.To let you guys know about what the games story will be I have decided to make this game be set after the events of X-Day as to give me more flexibility story wise and to give me an excuse to allow Aptom as a playable character right off the bat since he only joins Sho's cause after X-day. The controls will be using a 5 button set up with a Light Attack, Hard Attack, Ability, Jump/Fly and Transformation Buttons The Light and Hard attack buttons are just that, you will be able to link in between them to make combos. The Ability Button is to use special techniques that each character does, be it a Guyver Gravity Cannon or Aptom's Seeker missiles. Since all 3 characters are able to fly the jump button will allow you to fly at will if pressed a second time if already in the air. Transformation button is just that, the Guyvers will be able to transform into a Gigantic for a limited time using what I call boost energy which fills when you either land a hit, get hit or collect power ups that will appear on the stage. as for Aptom I am still thinking of what that button will provide him, I was thinking on making it an absorption button where depending on the Zoanoid he consumes it raises his stats or gives him bonus effects. Thoughts and opinions are welcomed. Quote
Mirabilis Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Awesome sounds great! I think some nice epic music like the ones used in bleach would be great for big zoalord battles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qf1GbcB-wY (Especially good for Guyot fight or for Guyver III fighting some boss. Also have you considered Having Gigantics fight as possible end game battle? Great for Gigantic Dark Vs Gigantic as well)4 Zoalords...hmmm well lets see:1) Imakurum2) Purg'stall3) Li Yentsui4) Waferdanos5) Khan6) Edward7) SinAs far as I know those are all the one's revealed with a battleform...if you're following event's after X-day why not actually follow the story completely? Could start of with fighting Mirabilis, then Purg'stall (As Guyver I), then next levels be Guyver III and boss battles be Yentsui and right after him be Waferdanos etc etc. But if you only are asking for 4, I don't know where you want the votes but heres mine:1-Mirabilis2-Purg'stall3-Yentsui4-EdwardI like your Aptom idea as well, maybe make him freeze all enemies for a short time period while he heals himself and recovers stats etc.Just let me know what you need me to do for music and or programs to help you with it. I'd love to assist with the music of your game. Quote
*V Guyver Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 What about altering, or remixing the music from the various Guyver installments.? you'd be amazed how awesome the music sounds just from altering it's speed or warping it.http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x11mxqw_music-tragedy-of-enzyme-ii-slow-redux_music#.Udp_GfmSrNk 1 Quote
*V Guyver Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Just messing with the program Audacity to alter things about. Quote
odin Posted August 8, 2013 Author Posted August 8, 2013 Well guys, I have finally finished moving and settling in on my new home so now I can focus more on the development of this game, I really apologize for taking so long but some times there are stuff that get in the way that we can't control. Anyways UPDATE TIME!! I have been working on the engine of the game mostly so not many artwork has been done, I have been teaching myself to use game maker studio and everything is going great so far, I got most of the movement done and currently working on the camera as well as the games size. as for artwork I will be updating today a few sprites little by little so to start off here is an updated version of Gregole since I thought that my previous one looked too flat and not intimidating enough, opinions are welcomed as always. 2 Quote
Mirabilis Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Nicely done Odin, and it's all good, things happen. It's good to hear all is well and you're pushing forward with the game. Also great work on your figures, though I think the chest and shoulders of the V2 looks a bit rubbery it's still pretty awesome. Great job with the trach too Vguyver. Quote
*V Guyver Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 That gregole update looks much cooler. I also finished moving recently. I bought an action figure to experiment on and now I have the living conditions to do so, without risk of a cat knocking it over either. I'm no good at music unfortunately, wish I could help with the soundtrack outside of just messing around with it's speed, rate, or tempo. Quote
odin Posted August 16, 2013 Author Posted August 16, 2013 Another update today and it is Vamore!! let me know what you think cause I am still not convinced of the color scheme, should I use this one or a different one? Quote
*Kenji Murakami Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 I think you'd be better served with a more brownish red for the Vamore, myself. Quote
*guyverfan Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 i think you've nailed gregole with v2, he was always big and broad in the shoulders and chest. maybe try a pale brown with vamore, see how that looks? Quote
LordSpleach Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 I think the chest under the the bio-blaster are too pronounced. Quote
odin Posted August 16, 2013 Author Posted August 16, 2013 too Pronounced? how so? here are different colored version of Vamore feel free to say which one you like best and any suggestions are welcomed. Quote
Cannibal Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 (edited) I think the second Vamore on the last pic is best. Because of his main colour and shading Can't choose between two Gregoles. I like overall details and head on the second version, but I like the size of deltoid muscle + breast on first. Legs are also better on second version. Edited August 16, 2013 by Cannibal Quote
*guyverfan Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 yep, second vanmore looks the best, its almost the same shade as the bfw figure, great work odin. i think if you ever decide to do a zerbebuth, that redish shade would compliment him well. Quote
Darksenshi Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 (edited) The second one looks awesome compared to the others. Edited September 13, 2013 by Darksenshi Quote
LordSpleach Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 I personally like the third Vamore the best. The coloring and lining is more subtle which actually reminds me of his debut in the OVA. Quote
Bio-Boosted Dude Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 I prefer the brown shade of the third Vamore, though the shading could afford to be darker as well. Also I think maybe a few tweaks might help it out a bit - I agree with what LordSpleach said about the chest and this is how I feel it could be changed: The rest of the body looks swell though dude Quote
daveblackeye152 Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Second Gregole looks best, along with second Vamore's color, though the third is really good too. Quote
Guyver0 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 (edited) Agreed, the pods for the bio-lasers are a bit too bulbous and need to be either smoothed out or spread out a bit. However the color looks dead on except for the eyes. I thought Vamore had yellow eyes like Gregole as well? Looking forward to how it looks with the pods open. Edited August 20, 2013 by Guyver0 Quote
*V Guyver Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 If you use the yellow, it will just blend into the skin color. It will look weird. Quote
odin Posted September 14, 2013 Author Posted September 14, 2013 Hey guys, new big update on the game, I have more or less the coding done for the movement but I have been having trouble regarding the size of the sprites so I have decided to sorta re-do all the sprites I have done so far to a more manageable size in order for me to advance the development of the game, thankfully I don't have to do much, just resizing each sprite smaller using nearest neighbor and fixing manually any error on the art that it may have. I have also found a way to make sprites a bit faster and better and the results are what I am about to show you guys which is probably something you guys have been anxious to see. Zoalord Richard Guyot in his battle armor. made 2 versions since I was unsure if I should use the regular shading method for the inner part of his armor or using a dithering technique, which do you guys like more? 1 Quote
*guyverfan Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 great work odin, ver.2 gets my thumbs up mate. Quote
