Larz Zahn Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 (edited) http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=108118 Dan Mindell has been announced as the cinematographer for episode 7. He works with jj in star trek, and is apart of the amazing Spiderman 2. So, we get a second star trek movie guy. I wonder how many more will also switch over? Mirabilis Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 It's gonna suck if the cast for the new starwars are all in startrek too. Quote
Larz Zahn Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 They are doing casting calls in New York. And they are looking for 3 particular people. A guy in his late 20s is charming and prophetically fit. A girl in her early 20s and id full of energy and physically fit and a young man in his late teens. Rumor is that these will be the skywalker children. Not sure if i am completely ok with this. If the rumor its true then they aren't going with Jacen and Jaina as twins. Quote
durendal Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 They completely re-wrote the star wars history with the release of episode 1-3. What's to stop them from doing the same again? Quote
Larz Zahn Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 (edited) Yeah... I know.... But i can dream and hope, right? I am excited about the new movies but i am still skeptical about how they will go with it. Edited September 9, 2013 by Larz Zahn Quote
Larz Zahn Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=108873 the stand alone films are said to be "origin story" movies. Still haven't announced who the movies will be about but it does make a han solo movie more believable. Quote
Larz Zahn Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 (edited) http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=109653 Sullivan Stapleton is said to be auditioning for a role in ep7. http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=109639 Same goes for Saoirse Ronan. No word on what part they at trying for. Edited October 2, 2013 by Larz Zahn Quote
Larz Zahn Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 (edited) http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=10991 in an interview with George Lucas son Jett, it was mentioned that George Lucas was already writing up the new trilogy before the sell to Disney. And that he is in constant contact with JJ Abrams. This does not comfort me. Edited October 9, 2013 by Larz Zahn Quote
*V Guyver Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 If you recall, Lucas was the one who insisted on the aliens in the latest Indiana Jones film, and this over the objections of everyone else. Quote
LordSpleach Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 When it comes to the Kingdom of Crystal Skulls, I have an objection to the fact it was a mediocre Indiana Jones flick, not the fact that involved aliens, which IS apart of the crystal skulls' rumors/theories. Temple of Doom was considered bad because of using Hindu mythology. The writers just have only been on their top game with Christian mythological objects probably because of the familiarity. Quote
*V Guyver Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 I can understand that two, but there is a difference between letting you wonder what is it. When the movie outright spells out aliens, and throws aliens, and has the aliens more or less imitate an earlier movie's climax, it's sorta jarring. I found the fridge scene funny, but utterly detrimental too. THe fridge scene was something Spielberg wanted. The best parts of the movie, are the family dynamic, and the motorcycle chase scene, plus classic Indy action. Wonder why they didn't stick to that and avoid the over the top silliness. Quote
*V Guyver Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 anyways back to star wars. Why did they decide to abandon some 30 years of expanded universe? Quote
Larz Zahn Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 The only thing i can think of is that it because it wasn't Lucas who made them. I remember someone saying a long time ago that jr was asked about why the prequels weren't following preexisting canon. He replied saying "to think of the novels as a alternate reality"our something. Kinda pissed me off when i heard. But this isn't confirmed, just hearsay. Quote
Larz Zahn Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=110614 Michal Ardnt isn't working on the screen writing any more. The screen writing well be done by jj abrams and Lawrence kasdan (who was the screen writer for both empire strikes back and return if the Jedi.) 1 Quote
*V Guyver Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 That's some good news actually. I would of preferred if Richard Marquand or Irvin Kershner had directed the prequels or possibly these new sequels, but sadly, both are gone now. But having the old screenwriter involved could save a few things. I just hope to god, no Jarjar travesty. Hopefully something a little cooler than the ewoks at least. Actually the droids in Star Wars clone wars are awesome entertaining. They are "deadly but stupid droid". Just remove the deadly and replace it with "capable heroic stupid android" and you got a new cash cow. Quote
Larz Zahn Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Cash cow... That's one way to put it. Why is it that people pay through the nose for second rate material?? Quote
Larz Zahn Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Whoa apparently when they dropped ardnt they dropped his entire script as well! This is a entirely new movie from what it was before, compete with a new range of characters! Quote
Larz Zahn Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Official release date is December 18 2015 Quote
Larz Zahn Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 (edited) I just heard some great news about the star wars movies from comingsoon.net. First of all, the new script will focus on the classic trio from the originals! And their children will be the support characters. Ep 7 will more or less be send off or "changing of the guard" with the children being the stars in the next two films. . Mark Hamill is suppose to be beefing up for his expanded role with a lot more screen time. The Boba Fett movie has a plot rumor, apparently Lawrence Kasdan hated the prequels, especially the Boba Fett clone part. So in his script a man kills Boba Fett and takes his armor. And then starts living out the rest of his life as Boba. Edited January 19, 2014 by Larz Zahn Quote
Larz Zahn Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 The script is complete and they are prepping to begin filming. 1 Quote
Shion Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 I heard Leia, Luke and Han are coming back for this movie. And in my opinion I would like the first part be about the older actors and then the story slowly focuses to the new characters. Other then that I want this movie to good and a success! Quote
Larz Zahn Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Its really odd. Star wars had always been a success. Every thing they produce has been a huge hit. (ignoring Christmas special). Not every one likes the newest, shiniest version that comes out. You'll have the sure hard fans that will only like it if its done a certain way, and then you have the theater goers, who just like the newest movie out regardless if it follows any kinda of continuity. Quote
*YoungGuyver Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 It's not just the continuity. The new ones were filmed lazily. If it wasn't an action scene, then the characters were simply giving boring exposition in shot reverse shot formula, with no creativity to it. 1 Quote
Shion Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I'm simply saying that Disney is going to fast with all those Movie plans. And I do agree with YoungGuyver though. Quote
