Not sure I like the Iron Patriot colour scheme on War Machine nor for that matter do I like the leaner War Machine but I think the Mark 8 looks amazing, I really like the colour. Seems like this could be much more interesting with Stark encountering his own alter ego.

Putting the flag on war Machine? seriously? Ok. A little crazy.

I havn't seen Avengers, so I don't know why Tony is going telekinetic. Oh well. I hope he doesn't start hiding the armor under his skin. Venom is Venom, IM is IM. I like the idea that he has to suit up. Oh well, the trailer was cool, and makes me want to see it. Maybe the idea that I don't like is done in an incredible way

Well, given the fact that he and the rest of Earth's Mightiest fended off an extraterrestrial invasion...one would imagine that Tony is try to re-invent himself, should another attack ever happen again.

And seriously, you haven't seen Avengers? WATCH THE MOVIE!!!!!

Trust me, you'll be glad that you did. It's best if you catch it on Blu-Ray.

I'm curious to know what this is about.

the trailer doesn't give much clues what the premise is supposed to be.

I know what iron man is and i see he has lots of new suits, but i'm seeing something similar to ironman 2. some ethnic looking guy who seems to have a grudge. now ironman 2 was fun but ultimately didn't have much of re-watchable value. it was a throw-away movie.

I am wondering what it is about this movie that is special?

perhaps they are just bad at making trailers lately?

can anyone who is familiar with ironman comics, cast some light on this?

Well, from what I can ascertain, they'll probably be using the "Extremis" storyline as a basis for the plot, where Tony essentially becomes one with the Iron Man armor, and they are going to be introducing Iron Man's long-time arch enemy, the Mandarin, played by Ben Kingsley.

For more info on the Mandarin, here's a link:

And here's some info about the "Extremis" story arc:

http://en.wikipedia....tremis_(comics)

Also, IM3 is supposed to be the first chapter of "Phase 2" of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, all of which will be leading up to the next Avengers movie.

FUN FACT: The "Ten Rings" terrorist group in IM1 is a reference to the Mandarin's Ten Rings of Power, and it is VERY likely that the group was connected to the villain.

you are correct Jerry, this movie will focus on the extremist story line as well as having the Mandarin as the main villain here is hoping that this movie is the Iron man movie that hits it out of the park, I am hoping to see an armor wars storyline some time later although having the extremist so early will probably make it too easy for him.

young guyver - it's not really telekinesis that he is doing, I think the term is technokinesis, extremist allows Iron Man to manipulate his armor with his mind or any piece of technology depending on the writer of course, it also provided the armor to move and react as if it was a part of his body this is important cause in the comics Tony was hitting a wall where he could not think of a way to improve the armor anymore cause no matter what he did the reaction time was still too slow for him, extremis breaks this wall.

What I like, is it looks like they are teasing us that the "Ugly Yellow" armor will not be the final armor of the movie. Becuase the paint job is horrible. It's not even golden... It's like dijon mustard. The armor design itself is great, just the coloring... But it looks like it will be the "Test" armor that will preceed the "Final" armor for the movie, and what he will no doubt wear in The Avengers 2.

From the synopsis Marvel released, it mentions that Tony loses everything... I am hoping the teaser trailer above is all from the first half of the movie.

And the rumors that he will be controlling something like 30 Iron Man armors at once... That is taken straight from the comics, post Extremis as well.

I see, it seems a bit more interesting now but i have a couple issues.

maybe the trailer is just really poor, but if the mandarin is from china, then i would have expected to see some recognisable scenes of china in the trailer. also, i would have expected them to get an actor with at least SOME sense of chinese ethnicity to him, rather than indian.

The mandarin seems like a really interesting character but from that trailer, it doesn't appear as though they are doing him any justice.

that 'extremis' seems interesting... although i wish they hadn't named him something that sounds like it was written in the back of a schoolbook.

They are filming in China but they're doing it in the next few weeks so no footage was ready for the trailer, I think they were suffering a nightmare trying to get China access due to their being potential negative connotations attached. I'm sure I heard Andy Lau was meant to be starring as well at some point, crying shame they couldn't get him for it.

oh that is promising then.

that is one of my issues assuaged and the other kinda placated.

I'm not sure how important his ethnicity is in regards to the story so I don't know if it matters so much!

Iron man, Cyborg. Both characters that use tech, and then get merged with it to god like levels. I hate the dragon ball-power up stuff. It's like masturbation. Why not tell stories that involve the development of character, as opposed to character powers? Or would that be too lame for the audience?

yeah I totally agree with you Ryuki that physically they got the character wrong but who knows, Kingsley is a great actor so he may get the character right, think of it as what happened in the Daredevil movie, even tho Michael Clark is not white he did a fine job portraying the kingpin, as long as they are faithful to the characters personality I don't mind.

Young Guyver- Iron man and Cyborg are have a lot of character development through their stories, they don't just show new tech for the sake of it, take iron man for example In the comics we see him go through a lot of things that are people can relate to, he is an alcoholic and that particular aspect of him has caused him lots of harm through out his life and how he deals with it has made him an interesting character, even tho I don't like civil war event cause I dislike heroes fighting heroes for stupid reasons it did provide Iron Man with lots of development during and after the war cause of trust and the loss of friends and such, have a read at his comics and you will see that it is not all about the tech. Talking about Iron Man actually makes me want to put myself up to date with his current issues, I have not read any of the for a while. speaking of alcoholism I was really hoping Robert Downy would portray that aspect of him but I guess he hasn't taken the chance yet, maybe on this third movie we will get to see him do that since he will supposedly "lose everything" during this movie, I also wanted to see an adaptation of the armor wars storyline more than the extremis, it would have fit more perfectly with Iron Man 2 having his tech specs stolen by Dynamo and Hammer and such but who knows? maybe that will happen too in this third film.

Have you actually read Iron Man?

I keep hearing people call the Iron Patriot armor, a War Machine repaint. It doesn't look like it to me. It's doesn't have the heavy armor, or the weapons. It's definitely a differently armor.

Wasn't it a new armor in the comics?

The Iron Patriot was... um...

Thing is, it was an armor worn by Norman Osborn, not James Rhodes at all; basically, it was his attempt at filling the roles of Iron Man and Captain America all in one go. And while he possessed all of Iron Man's armors, it's never clear whether he just repainted one of them or built one of his own based on them.

This seems more like they retro-fitted the technology of War Machine to create an entirely new suit.

wow, that does look completely different!

I think the most significant difference is the shape of the light on his chest.

on war machine it is round, but on that patriot is it square.

I have mixed thoughts on the trailer...

1. Looks like they are using a few parts from the story plot that came after Extremis... A Terrorist implanting repulsor ( or in this case Arc reactor) tech into suicide bombers. That explosion near the start of the trailer does look awfully unlike a normal bomb... And the scene with the multiple guys being strapped into some deivce with a piece that goes over their chest in just the right area. The enemy who did that in the comics was Ezekial Stane ( son of Obidiah), but seeing it here would also be kinda cool.

2. Rhodey kicking ass. The comics prequel for IM3 explained how he aquired his new armor, and why he wasn't able to help out in The Avengers. And that little bit of action at the end of IM2 was great... But not nearly enough. So seeing him kick some ass on screen will be awesome.

3. The 40 armors... While this did happen in the comics ( actually at the end of the plot from #1's point), this part I have a bit of a problem with... Because it could go either way... It could be extremely awesome, and well done... Or it could be overkill for the sake of overkill.

I HOPE it is awesome... But after Iron Man 2, I have to be skeptical. In Iron Man 1, they found what really worked. in Iron Man 2, they tried to change it, and unfrotunately it did not quite work out as well. So for Iron Man 3, I am hoping they learned from their previous mistakes and make a stronger story, while keeping some big action pieces... But seeing all the scenes so far, it's hard to keep optimistic about a fully coherent plot.

I can still hope though... Because the fanboy in me loves all the action. But after IM2 it's hard not to be a bit skeptical.

Oh yeah...

4. MORE TOYS!... Though I noticed that some of the "Concept" designs from the first Iron Man toy line have made it into the movie... I am hoping for a better shot of the Marine/Underwater armor...
