Salkafar Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 The intro music sequence of Final Wars was a lot better than the movie, which was just a remake of "Destroy all monsters" with a little "Power Rangers" thrown in. The best Godzilla movie (I will brook no argument on this) is Terror Times Three (this one): Even though Goddy looks pretty bad there. But he's a total menace for a change, which is nice. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 well i didn't watch the whole movie, didn't have time, though i must say, the inclusion of the hollywood godzilla was incredibly entertaining. it was so funny how godzilla obliterated it in 5 seconds. "i knew that tuna-eating monster would be useless" Quote
Purgstall Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 Not sure if I'd call GMK the best Godzilla movie ever, but it is one of the best G movies made and easily the best of the Millenium series. The Godzilla vs Baragon fight was spectacular. Only thing I didn't like about GMK Goji was that the suit looked rubbery. Quote
*V Guyver Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 to me, my favorite was the original Godzilla. Dunno why, but the old classic horror themed Godzilla was so much more likable to me. The later ones didn't capture my heart as much, Only the one with Biolentta came close. http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/103/1/e/Godzilla_Neo___BIOLLANTE_by_KaijuSamurai.jpg Quote

While I do think that the original was the best and I do like it alot, I think Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla (1974) is my favorite one of all time. Biollante is also a pretty good one, Biollante itself was a pretty cool kaiju. Obviously, the true star of the film was the Saradian Agent! lol. Edited April 17, 2010 by Purgstall Quote
Tales Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 But what new story can they come up with for Godzilla. While the world is now seeking new sources of power and away from nuclear, it might seem that Godzilla might seek a new place to wreck vengence... <looks at North Korea> Quote
Hyper_Guyvantic Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 (edited) Does this strictly partain to on the Godzilla or can it include all Kaiju? If that is the case it is hard for me to sum up all my favorites but here it goes Of Godzilla Series it is still so hard to designate my favorites but here it goes 1. Godzilla of course 2. Angilas of Destroy All Monsters 3. Mothra of 1996 and 2004 4. Manda - Cause it looks likes an Asian Dragon 5. Godzilla Jr 6. Destoroyah 7. Space Godzilla - Is it me or does Space-Godzilla look similar to Super-Godzilla? Ive seen pictures of Super-G but never played 8. Zilla 9. Kamebas - That giant turtle. Love turtles. 10. Mecha-Godzilla 11. 2004 Gigan before Godzilla blows his head off - unlike the old Gigan who would run away like a little bitch if the he and his allied monster were loosing. One thing I've wondered ever since seeing Gamera 2 and Gamera 3 is how the Big-G would fair against the Gyaos, Legion, Iris, and Hyper-Gyaos If I can include other monster movies monsters Ill add to the list 12. Gamera 13. Zarkorr - Design and unstopablitly even though you barely saw the monster 14. Iris 15. All forms of Gyaos 16. Legion 17. the Beast of The Beast of 20,000 Fathoms 18. Baby Cloverfield monster and parasites 19. Lastly King Kong As to the previous poster's comments, it is my opinion that the Godzilla movies can return to the basics only if the director does the following... 1. studies and then ignores the 29 previous movies. What I mean by that is study the movies and what made them successful or flops amoung fans 2. As hard as it sounds, and this ties into point number 1 make the film as original as Gojira and or its direct sequel The Return of Godzilla 3. Return to the basics of Godzilla being this unstoppable nuclear terror instead of him going after all forms of energy. Thats what killed Godzilla 2000 for me. That and point number 5. 4. Not limiting his range of terror to just Japan. But have news clips of his attacks in other countries. 5. The film should soley be focused on Godzilla. NO, AND I REPEAT NO OTHER KAIJU! They take all the focus off of him. 6. Stay to the main rule that he cannot be injured or killed by the military no matter how advanced their weapons are. Unless it were the oxygen destroyer that with todays technology can be made. 7. We don't slaughter the movie for political views or just to have some "popular actor" in it. Thats what ruined most of my favorite movie The Return of Godzilla and then dubbing it Godzilla 1985. 8. As in the final moments of Gojira, beginning of Godzilla King of the Monsters with Raymond Burr as much as it hurt me to say that, beginning of Godzilla vs Biollante, and Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S. show all the results of his devastation. If the director can stick those 8 basic rules then the next Godzilla film will have a huge impact with fans. Especially if it turns out to be true that we Americans are slated to make a Godzilla movie for 2012. After all, if Peter Jackson's King Kong, which returned to the basics but with more substance can be a major award movie why cant Godzilla? Edited May 3, 2010 by Hyper_Guyvantic Quote
Purgstall Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 7. Space Godzilla - Is it me or does Space-Godzilla look similar to Super-Godzilla? Ive seen pictures of Super-G but never played The Super Godzilla video game came out before GvSG. Space Godzilla's design was based on Super Godzilla's design. I don't remember the full story on this at the moment. I also have the game. Kinda fun. 11. 2004 Gigan before Godzilla blows his head off - unlike the old Gigan who would run away like a little bitch if the he and his allied monster were loosing. I'd rather have my Gigan be a coward then an idiot. He gets to live to fight another day. If I remember Correctly, GFW Gigan didn't seem very intelligent. One thing I've wondered ever since seeing Gamera 2 and Gamera 3 is how the Big-G would fair against the Gyaos, Legion, Iris, and Hyper-Gyaos Daiei kaiju with the exception of Daimajin I think are considered frail in comparison to most Toho Kaiju. Legion got her wings blown off by regular jets. That doesn't say much for her durability. Gamera was taken down by the army in GOTU as well (and they didn't need any fancy superweapons like the Super X either). Again, that doesn't say much for durability as well. Any decently powered Toho Kaiju could probably put down any of the Daiei Kaiju. 4. Not limiting his range of terror to just Japan. But have news clips of his attacks in other countries. Considering this is an American remake, I highly doubt most of it will take place in Japan. 5. The film should soley be focused on Godzilla. NO, AND I REPEAT NO OTHER KAIJU! They take all the focus off of him. From what I hear, he is supposedly going to fight a monster. The source I got that from is reliable, but I am also considering the fact that the script can change and stuff. So it could end up just being Godzilla by himself (which I doubt). Most of the people who are gonna want to see this are probably wanting to see giant monsters beating the crap out of each other. Plus, I think they could explain Godzilla's origin to the audience in just a quick little flashback. I mean, he's a giant radioactive dinosaur, what else do you need to explain? Just show a few scenes of an A-bomb going off and a Godzillasaurus and I think the audience will get it. 6. Stay to the main rule that he cannot be injured or killed by the military no matter how advanced their weapons are. Unless it were the oxygen destroyer that with todays technology can be made. Umm, I don't think they could make a weapon like the Oxygen Destroyer. Besides that, Godzilla has been harmed/stopped by some of the super weapons like the Super X's Cadmium missiles, SMG's G-Crushers, Super X III's freezing rays, etc. If the director can stick those 8 basic rules then the next Godzilla film will have a huge impact with fans. Especially if it turns out to be true that we Americans are slated to make a Godzilla movie for 2012. It's been confirmed that they're doing another remake, dude. After all, if Peter Jackson's King Kong, which returned to the basics but with more substance can be a major award movie why cant Godzilla? I found PJ's KK to be rather boring. They also dragged Kong's death for way too long, it felt like it took him forever to die. Quote
Salkafar Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 A 20-ton ape falling from 1000 feet up should have exploded like a rotten tomato. Hey, here's an idea... why not have Godzilla fight Clover? Clover sort of looks like Orga, doesn't he? Just stockier, armored, and packing heat... Quote
Purgstall Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 I read that that monster was a baby. You are correct. Clover is a just a baby. More Clover info: http://cloverfield.wikia.com/wiki/Clover As for a Cloverfield vs Godzilla, that wouldn't happen since Cloverfield is from Paramount and Godzilla is Toho's property. One company would need to pay for the rights to get the other character and I know that Godzilla's rights cost quite a bit (though I think King Kong is even pricier). Not sure how much getting the rights for Clover would cost, but I doubt Toho would try to get the rights for Clover. Quote
Hellspawn28 Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Oh cool a Godzilla thread =D. I loved Godzilla ever since I was three years old, and I pretty enjoy all of them expect for All Monsters Attack, Final Wars, Tokyo SOS, Godzilla Raids Again, and Godzilla 1998. Gigan always been my favorite Godzilla foe next to Mecha Godzilla, and Megalon. Quote
Purgstall Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 At comic con, they've been giving away shirts that have this in front of them: More info here: http://talkingdogar.blogspot.com/2010/07/talking-dog-makes-hollywood-connection.html I approve of this Godzilla, looks very badass. Quote
Bobby Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
neozxtole Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Now that's what we should have had back in '98 and not GINO (Godzilla In Name Only). I'm liking the new look! He looks lean and muscular, and very, very mean! Oh yeah! Quote
odin Posted July 25, 2010 Author Posted July 25, 2010 damn, i hope they sell those shirts in the future, too bad i don't live in the states to get that awesomesauce shirt. Quote
Purgstall Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 (edited) damn, i hope they sell those shirts in the future, too bad i don't live in the states to get that awesomesauce shirt. You can print out the design and iron it onto your shirt. That's what I'm planning to do. Oh and there have been scammers who are doing what I'm planning to do except that they're selling their shirts and saying that they're official comic con shirts while I'm not selling my shirt. I'm just making it for me and me only. Link if somebody wants to print out the pic: http://www.talkingdogstudios.com/ar/gojira/assets/images/gojira_page.pdf I have to kinda nitpick at this, but Godzilla's left hand looks a bit weird and he's got a fat neck. Also, it's probably not the final design but I think its safe to say that the final design will look similar to this. EDIT: Turns out that was just promotional art, not concept art. ZoneFighter Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah was one of the worst Godzilla movies ever. Only one worse than it is Godzilla vs Biolante. Quote
Salkafar Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah was one of the worst Godzilla movies ever. Only one worse than it is Godzilla vs Biolante. I completely disagree with you. Terror Times Three, in my opinion, is the best Godzilla flick ever made. I mean, by your statement, Final Wars was better. And it wasn't. Quote
Purgstall Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 I have to disagree with you, ZoneFighter. GMK and Godzilla vs Biollante were two of the better Godzilla movies. Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla (SpaceGodzilla itself was an awesome monster, but was stuck in a crappy movie), Godzilla vs Mothra (1992), and Final Wars were some of the worst Godzilla movies ever made. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 I think many people look for very different things in their godzilla movies. I really enjoyed what i saw of final wars. although I am not a huge godzilla fan. perhaps you guys can talk about what you liked about your favourite movies? just stating that x movie was the best and x movie was the worst is not very constructive. durendal Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 I haven't seen much Godzilla, but I would certainly like to watch the Godzilla vs Mecha Godzilla. I mean, I only saw the classic Godzilla and the one where he is with Biolante (spelling?). It was the robot Godzilla that got me interested, but unfortunately, lack of resources then prevented me from ever trully becoming a follower of the franchise. Quote
Purgstall Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 (edited) I haven't seen much Godzilla, but I would certainly like to watch the Godzilla vs Mecha Godzilla. Which one(s)? There's 5 Mechagodzilla movies and there are 3 versions of Mecha Godzilla. Either way, I'd recommend the Showa Mechagodzilla movies as I felt that they were the best out of the Mechagodzilla movies. Edited September 8, 2010 by Purgstall Quote
ZoneFighter Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Only one Mechagodizlla matters, the original. Quote
odin Posted September 8, 2010 Author Posted September 8, 2010 yeah, the first 2 mecha-Godzilla movies where awesome, I liked the story of the first one and how the Stakes where raised for Big G in the Sequel (facing both Mecha-G and Tytanosaurs) demonstrating how awesome big G is and why he is the King. The first mecha-godzilla movie was my all time favorite Godzilla movie for the simple fact that: 1)It was the first Godzilla Movie I ever had (I still have the VHS) 2)I love Mecha-Godzilla's design 3)King Cesar, Nuff said. frankly it is on of those movies that gets better each time i watch it for me. who here Likes King Kong vs Godzilla? and who would like to watch a remake of that movie? I sure do, the original was awesome and is the second Godzilla Movie i ever had and still have on VHS. who has watched Godzilla 1985? and who got scared at godzilla when you saw this movie? I did, the atmosphere of the movie had that perfect feel in terms of making you feel scared plus Godzilla's design and roar completed the effect too so it is a classic for me. Quote
