Toku Warrior Posted December 1, 2010 Author Posted December 1, 2010 Yes, Yuyu was good though the anime did skip a few things that happened in the manga but it's all good. Well, let's see. I still have plenty of anime series either fully downloaded for future watch and I'm also viewing some of the newer series now. I would say that I'm currently watching: MM! Pocket Monsters - Best Wishes Bleach Naruto Shippuuden Super Robot Wars OG - The Inspector Fairy Tail Fortune Arterial Akai Yakusoku Motto ToLOVE-Ru Iron-Man Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai Nurarihyon no Mago A couple of those I'm just now starting. I have plenty of other series that I'm DLing for future viewing as well so I won't list those. But I'm glad to see that the Bleach anime is starting to finally catch up with the manga. Just wish they'd stop those stupid dream fillers. Quote
Mirabilis Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Eww nice choice with Yu Yu Hakusho ryuki. It's funny, when I was a kid I saw trailers for Yu Yu Hakusho and I thought it was stupid, and then almost 13 years later I sat down and watched it and I have the entire series haha! Even though the show is not my favorite anime Hiei is my favorite anime character, I actually really enjoyed the english dub of the show, Chuck Huber did an amazing job protraying Hiei. I'd recommend the show but stay clear of the films they wernt so good imo. And I feel you on the ending themes Durendal I liked em too. Hey Toku Warrior is Iron-man now a anime ? or something of the sort? Quote
*Jess♥ Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 durendal was right though. I watched the beginning and although it was lightly entertaining, I actually got bored with it. i got up to the part where he came back to life and then i just couldn't be bothered any more. I'd rather focus on dragonball and i want to try and get into one piece. so currently i'm part way through a few anime:- dragonball z, I'm up to the planet namek with the two green guys and something seems not quite right. one piece, just finished the buggy story. code geass, got to... the orange haired girl picked up the gun. this is a good series, almost on par with death note. magical shopping arcade, watched about 3 eps. dragonball kai, keeping up to date with [freeze subs] they are on the cell saga, goku's tournament fight against cell. OMG! goku is so freaking awesome!! this battle is the best i have seen in any anime that i can even remember!! naruto, haven't watched it since fillers started. I downloaded mitsudomoe and gurren lagann on recommendation by seaslugs blog. Quote
*V Guyver Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 That's great man, you are watching some great anime right now. One Piece anime and Yu Yu are the only ones I haven't gotten around to see in their entirety. Keep watching Geass, it is indeed on par with Death Note but with giant robots. It does leave a lot of loose ends and I do get pissed off with how they dealt with some characters, but that just goes to show how much it makes you care about them. OH and to all Geass Fans, a sequel is in the works. Quote
durendal Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Ryuki, you got bored on the part that was actually the start of the fun part. That means you haven't seen Kurama and Hiei, as well as Genkai. As for picking up Gurren Lagann, good choice. The show is the epitome of pure epicness of hot blooded awesomeness. It is just..... wait for it..... LEGENDARY! Although I'd imagine you not enjoying it much since it deals with Super Robots. This is one of the rare shows that made me cry. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 to be honest, I don't have anything against super robots specifically. I have just found shows involving them to be dull in the past. well actually it does depend on what exactly I mean by super robots, I could be mistaken completely. I mean, i got super bored with one series of gundam i tried to watch once. i guess it really doesn't matter what the subject is, it could be slice of life or shounen or samurai etc, if it has good characters and interesting story then it is good. since i remember enjoying evangelion to a certain degree and i like sentai, and i like code geass, I must imagine that some robots are good and some robots are bad. Quote
durendal Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Oh, there are character developments, especially for Simone. It's not just a super robot show, it's the personification of a super robot show. It doesn't quite have the angst that Evangelion have, the show is actually light hearted, but things happen unexpectedly that would make you emotionally involved. Let's just say that the story is as straightforward as it can get. Oh, did I mention the robot has a Big F@#%ing Drill! Quote
LordSpleach Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Right now I still got to finish Yu Yu Hakusho last few episodes, and now I'm watching Gundam 00. Quote
ErutanXiku Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 ...I just finished watching the Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien ~Next Season~ OVA and it reminded me how much I loved the anime series, so I'll be rewatching that. Otherwise, I have a load of anime that needs watching, my list currently stands (in no particular order) : Code Geass Seasons 1 and 2 Kyou Kara Maou Eps 70+ Ayashi no Ceres Rurouni Kenshin Ah My Goddess Season 2 X/1999 Naisho no Tsubomi Amagami SS Yosuga no Sora My HiME KareKano Hajime no Ippo Eps 50+ Bastard! Orphen Revenge And I might re-watch Golden Boy, it's probably the only anime that I'll willingly rewatch and still find hilarious everytime I'm also feeling nostalgic for other anime, like Chrono Crusade - I cried so much at that (the only thing I cried more at was Terminator 2) and Planetes...I'm still trying to hunt down Last Exile...and I need to get back into Bleach and/or Naruto. The fillers just kill it for me everytime I try to get back into it, and knowing the direction Naruto's taken in the manga...it just puts me off that bit more, and I won't comment on Bleach, apart from I wish he'd go back to Zombie Powder at some point. Playing Ultimate Ninja Storm 2, however, wasn't as bad, but I still got angry at certain points though... Quote
durendal Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Code Geass Seasons 1 and 2 - Good choice. This is a good series with a sad ending. Kyou Kara Maou Eps 70+ - Haven't seen this yet so I can't comment much. Ayashi no Ceres - I'd suggest you skip this. Didn't have the same emotional impact as Fushigi Yuugi did (same author). Somewhat disappointing ending. Rurouni Kenshin - I'd recommend this up until the Kyoto arc only (roughly around episode 62). After that, it's all down hill. Ah My Goddess Season 2 - I like this, but I can't remember what happened here. X/1999 - Another good clamp series. The movie had me confused, but the overall setting was nice. Naisho no Tsubomi - Haven't seen this so can't comment. Amagami SS - ditto Yosuga no Sora - ditto My HiME - heard of it, but I was told it was disappointing. KareKano - heard of it but resists in watching it. Hajime no Ippo Eps 50+ - This is very good. Bastard! - Hilarious. Seen it but can't seem to remember anything of it. All that I can remember is Dark Schneider and some girl he couldn't kill. Orphen Revenge - Somewhat disappointing series. Only watched a few episodes. On another subject, I've recently acquired the third episode of Gundam Unicorn. I'm also planning to acquire Gantz as I'm currently reading the manga and I'm actually enjoying it. Didn't expect that I'd like this seeing I didn't like Hiroya's previous work, HEN. Lot's of eye candy. hehehe *drool* Quote
*Jess♥ Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Code Geass Seasons 1 and 2 - Good choice. This is a good series with a sad ending. I decided not to watch this any more. I was watching up to the episode in between the first and the last. I felt a bit depressed watching some episode. i thought somebody said it was a good series and so i thought it is worth it. but not if it has a sad ending. I don't like to feel sad. it doesn't make sense to me to watch something that will make me feel sad. Quote
Toku Warrior Posted March 16, 2011 Author Posted March 16, 2011 I've recently gotten a hold of Eps.2 of Mazinkaiser SKL in sub format but have yet to watch it. Other than that there isn't any real appealing anime this season. So I have plenty of series on the backburner which are downloaded, burned and kept in some kind of storage that I can watch until something good comes out. That and I can still watch OOO and Gokaiger as they're released. Durendal, how is Gundam Unicorn anyway? Any good? Better than X maybe? Quote

But I'm not sure how you can categorize the ending because the good guys and bad guys are somewhat distored, much like how Death Note was. In the end, it was all about sacrifice, but I felt it was a good sad ending. If you don't intend to watch this, can I spoil you? Might change your mind. I'm going to get that when I get home. Regarding Gundam Unicorn, if you are a fan of the UC timeline, then you will love this. I didn't quite like X and much of the other alternate universe (with the exception of G). Unicorn has a solid story, but having a background of the UC timeline would greatly help you appreciate the story, because there are characters that were depicted in previous series, like Char and Minerva. Animation wise, it puts Gundam X to shame (think higher quality than Gundam 00). As I have mentioned on a separate topic, the dog fights are Superb and extremely cool, wherein the grunts just don't blow up, they can actually put up a good fight. I would definitely recommend this. A true Gundam fan will love this. Too bad I didn't pick up the novel of Unicorn while I was in Japan, didn't have any more space on my luggage (10 volumes). Quote

I'm slowly creeping through one piece. it's pleasant. i'm not hooked on it or anything but i think i will continue to watch it on occasion. i still have abenobashi to watch. and I have gurren lagann to watch. and i am kinda looking forward to mitsu domoe. durendal Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 One piece is good. I do hope you'll get to enjoy it soon. As for Code Geas, here the spoiler for season 1: Lelouch loses in the end and the black knights are scattered and left without a leader. Take note that Suzaku has cemented his hate for Lelouch when Lelouch accidentally used his Geas on Euphemia telling her in jest to kill all the Elevens (Japanese). This happened because Lelouch was unaware that he could not turn his Geas off. And for Code Geas R2, this is where things get crazy: We find out that Lelouch is living a normal student life with his memories of the past year erased. He slowly gets his memories back and managed to slowly beat Brittania. As the story unfolds, his sister Nunally becomes his enemy. Suzaku and Lelouch finally worked together for this final strategy to deposed Brittania. Lelouch successfully kills king Brittania and becomes the new king. He purposely turned into a worst tyrant than the previous king, by publicly executing all the black knights, including his siter nunally. Suddenly Zero appears (Suzaku in disguise) leaps into the air and successfully assasinates Lelouch. It turns out this was the plan of Lelouch and Suzaku all along. Lelouch willingly turns himself as the evil in the public eyes and willingly let's Suzaku kill him, with Zero becoming a symbol, thus finally freeing the people from the tyrant. Nunally seeing through Lelouch's scheme cries out to stop him from committing suicide via assasination from Zero. In the epilogue, it is not clear if Lelouch survived or not, we just see CC lying in a cart full of hay driven by a hooded person. There are speculation that this hooded person is Lelouch. My explanation might not be able to give a strong impact as compared to actually watching the show. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 no, that was pretty good, thanks reading about season 2 is really emotional. I can see why i would be depressed watching that so I'm glad to have you tell me. I can see why it was said to be a very impressive series. Quote
ErutanXiku Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Ack...I'm going to have to convert a few eps of Code Geass just to make sure they'll work on my PS3...not too keen on watching stuff on the PC. As for new titles this season... Fractale - Heard interesting things Wandering Son - The premise intrigues me Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka? - Don't know if I'll stick with this, but the surface similarity to 3x3 Eyes interests me Dragon Crisis! Level E The last two I don't have much of an opinion on, but they caught my interest for some reason...I haven't picked up either of those titles mind, just bouncing them around. Also, I'm looking forward to the Supernatural Anime...you know, the one based on the TV Series Apart from all that, I'm very hard pressed on what Anime to consider spending my time watching :/ Regarding my current list: Ayashi no Ceres - Fushigi Yuugi is one I've considered watching; Ayashi no Ceres I thought about because I had been recommended it. Naisho no Tsubomi - This I picked up because I read the Manga and was curious about how it had been handled in Anime-form - it's a coming of age story that deals with girls (and boys, but to a lesser extent since it's told from a girl's POV) going through changes at that age. I know, sometimes I wonder about the stuff I come across too...but it was a subject that was handled pretty well in Manga. My HiME - A friend of mine highly recommends it, and has been bugging me to watch it for some years now. KareKano - Heard the Manga was much better since the Anime totally skewed the spirit of it, but I'd prefer to watch it and then try and get hold of the Manga's. Orphen Revenge - Yeah, I heard Orphen Revenge was pants compared to the first series, but I figure I should watch it. Quote
Toku Warrior Posted March 16, 2011 Author Posted March 16, 2011 Well Durendal, I went ahead and DLed the 1st 2 episodes of Unicorn and I'll give them a watch sometime this week. Quote
Mirabilis Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 (edited) Just finished Ronin Warriors, Karas, Wolf's Rain, Trigun, Crest of the Stars, Banner of the Stars, Tactics, and finally, for my 20th anime I wanted to do something special. I just finished the 1979 Mobile Suit: Gundam series, I am happy I finally watched it all the way through haha! Karas was a really awesome show, it was familiar and yet different, kind of like a guyver/power rangers fighting robot demons was sick! Wolf's Rain a very awesome show. Loved the character development and the incredible ending. My own opinion but thought it was done really well, and it had one of the coolest villains who was protrayed very well. Trigun honestly, do I need to say anything? Crest of the Stars Is the intro (series) to banner of the stars. It was really a sweet anime. Loved the whole thing, awesome ship designs, and interior, as well as piloting it. Loved the political angles, and the battles were really cool. Stay clear of english version as most animes it wasnt too good. Banner of the Stars This is the main story of the characters introduced from Crest of the Stars. The battles were indeed much more dramatic and alot more pain stricken. I didn't care too much for series 2 of this show, as it all revolved around one thing, that was kind of meh. But I wont ruin it for you all, and it was still a cool show to watch. The best thing that I liked about these two shows is that it had that same Wondrous/Mysterious Awestrucking Powerful Feeling of Space, that Zeta Gundam had. Tactics This show wasnt all that impressive in my opinion. It was okay, but it wasnt anything great. Mobile Suit: Gundam Words cannot fathom this series. I've seen most of these animes (along with many, many others ones) but I never did finish them, or watched them from start to finish like the ones below. I.E. Ronin Warriors, among others, until a while ago. The list doesnt count in Feature Films below, as I do not consider them to be a series. My Completed Anime List In Order of Finishing Them: Dragonball Z Bio-Boosted Armor: Guyver Zoids: Future Century Zero Mobile Suit: Gundam Wing Yu-Gi-Oh! Yu Yu Hakusho Blue Gender Slayers Inuyasha Claymore Code: Geass Heat Guy J Ronin Warriors Karas Wolf's Rain Trigun Crest of the Stars Banner of the Stars Tactics Mobile Suit: Gundam Now moving on to more Gundam series. durendal Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Oh yes! Another victim caught facinated by the charms of the UC universe. After watching Gundam, continuity-wise, you should be watching 0083 Stardust Memory and then Z Gundam. But if you're only looking for the Amuro X Char angle then this is the recommended watching order: Gundam -> Z Gundam -> Char's Counterattack. Quote
Mirabilis Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Oh yes! Yes I've always wanted to watch them, (U.C.) but could never find them. And I want to watch them in order of events, not only one side, or Amuro vs. Char. I like to see all the gundam events and battles and such. Speaking of which, have you heard of Gundam Igloo? Saw something about that, but I don't know anything about it, or if it's even really a series... Just finished: Mobile Suit: Gundam 08th MS Team Mobile Suit: Gundam: 0080 War In the Pocket and Mobile Suit: Gundam 0083 Stardust Memory 08th MS Team was incredible, so far from the series Ive' watched all the way through it is my second favorite, followed by War In the Pocket, which was also very good. I didn't really care for Stardust Memory, and kind of got bored with it, but still wanted to watch t all the way through. Now moving on the Mobile Suit: Zeta Gundam once again. Hoping this time I will finish it all the way through. I've seen the beginning and the end, but not in between haha! Quote
durendal Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Igloo was ok. It's about a science officer from the Zeon. Nothing major in that series as it is just a side story. I'm surprised you didn't find 0083 interesting. 0083 is actually the reason why you have the Titans in Z Gundam. Even Gato's epic speech: "Solomon, I have returned!" was awe inspiring. I was actually rooting for the Delaz Fleet. Damn you Cima Garahau, you traitorous wench! *shakes fist* Z is personally one of my favorite UC storylines. I will warn you though, characters tends to die easily in this series. The series managed to capture the reality of war with the unexpected tragic loss of life among the crew members. Not to mention this is the only series that you will see Amuro and Char working together. Okay, I don't consider this a spoiler as we obviously know who Char is. A thick sunglass is not a disguise. By the way, if story is important to you, skip the Z movie as it changes the ending, thus invalidating the events in Gundam ZZ. Quote
Mirabilis Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Just finished Mobile Suit: Zeta Gundam wow. Is all I can say WOW. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 is that all like political and stuff? I never saw a gundam before and have no idea what it is all about. you just said its really good so there's no point me asking if its any good. but i guess i can ask, what is good about it? Quote
