Weltall2 Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 Okay within the last week my dad was diagnosed with pancriatitis(sp). This means he will not be able to continue his chemo(sp) therapy. So regardless of whether he beats the infection, his brain tumor will still kill him. Right now it is very difficult for me, because I am very close to my father. I know some of you here know what I am going through. Also pretty soon I will most likely be moving away from Kalamazoo, and move back closer to my mom and her family. I hope for your support and understanding. Quote
*zeo Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 Yes that does suck, but have you tried checking for alternative or new clinical trial treatments? You can check this link to see if he qualitifies for any existing clinical trials that may help. http://www.virtualtrials.com/serchfrm.cfm And though chemo may be ruled out did they say anything about radiation treatments like this one? http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/ ... /704230394 Quote
Weltall2 Posted May 15, 2007 Author Posted May 15, 2007 Well last I checked yeterday and today he is doing better. A lot of doctors from the hospital he is at, and some out of state places are collaborating on this issue. I was more pessimistic in my first post, because everyone else in my family believed this was the end. However yesterday and Sunday night I talked with a friend of mine, his mom is a nurse and thus he has insights that my family lacks. Some of those included whether or not the individual in question has the will to live. My father has demonstrated he cirtainly does not lack this quality. Further his tumor is not growing though there is some swelling inthe suroundding area. The medication he is on is helping with this problem. I would like to re-emphisize that today he was much better. Quote
guyverfanatic Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Dude, I totally know how you feel. My dad passed away from a brain tumor 8 years ago when I was 15. Here's to hoping he get's through it. Quote
Weltall2 Posted May 17, 2007 Author Posted May 17, 2007 Well it seems that this is the end of this horrible ordeal. late last night they found a blood clot in one of the arteries leading to the pancreas. So dad has 12 hours give or take. Quote
largo Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 My hopes are with you and your father but know that It's the memories that you shared that will truly keep him alive even after the end. It's these memories that give life to the lifeless. Quote
Weltall2 Posted May 18, 2007 Author Posted May 18, 2007 (edited) As of 6:55 p.m. my father Joseph P. Grigaitis was declared deceased. He was a great dad and friend. He certainly was a great teacher to me. I thank all of you here at the board for thinking of me, and caring for my situation. I knew it would happen sometime today. However it would make me very happy if you would offer whatever thoughts you can for my family. As I am holding up significantly better than they. Edited May 19, 2007 by Guest Quote
