  1. Not to go off-topic, but how certain are we that Sean's Unit-G came from the Utah Relic? I thought it had originally come from somewhere in South America (though I might be confusing live-action and anime/manga on that). Even so, though -- the Utah Relic wasn't uncovered until pretty much a year after Sean bonded with the Guyver unit in the first live-action movie and became Guyver US. So... how did Chronos get inside the Utah Relic the first time to find Sean's unit, but then have to spend a year trying to get back into it again to get the initially damaged unit that Crane activated to become Guyver Zoanoid in the second live-action film?
  2. Very eeeeeeen-teresting! So it does have an electromagnetic component, though I wonder if that's as far as it can go. Would be interesting to see it... well... that part, I think I'll leave for the Proteus data file. Still, though, very intriguing. Motion sensor, electromagnetic sensor, telepathic sensor... my, the possibilities. Though I have to wonder now how the unit would resolve the seeming paradox of an artificial brain controlling someone designated friend in the host memories stored in the CM. That's story potential right there. Regardless, it seems the hyper sensors are even more interesting than I had originally believed.
  3. I had assumed much the same, at least at it's most basic function (that's pretty much all they ever used it for in the live-action movies, at least), but there are additional functions that go along with it. I figure there's at least some limited electromagnetic sensory ability (since hyper sensors are supposed to see through barriers like a sort of x-ray vision, although that aspect could alternatively be explained as some sort of short-range clairvoyant ESP function; plus, it's also been shown to pick up radiation levels, at least in the fan-fiction). Past that, I'm not entirely certain what else it might have, but having that potential telepathic sense that zeo1234 alluded to earlier (at least, I think the Warrior Units have that added functionality, since the standard units have no means whatsoever of distinguishing between friend or foe) would be a distinct possibility.
  4. Yeah. The CM is nominally semi-sentient to begin with, as I understood it. I just wanted to try and take it to the next step. Whether it would be a prototype Unit with the Mark II upgrade (assuming my character would fit in someplace in the WG universe), or something completely out of left field, I'm not sure just yet. I could see it as a Creator attempt to try and take Solom's work in the Warrior Project in a new direction, and integrating aspects of the Kavzar Project into the mix (not in the alternate universe Warrior Kavzar direction, though), but now I'm starting to drift towards more the fan-fiction aspect than the actual science. I have considered doing the same with the HSL, in terms of having the CM be able to teleport itself into hyperspace to regenerate the unit and host. I'm not entirely sure if I want to go with having a secondary CM like Assassin Guyver has -- likely I wouldn't need it, since it would be able to regenerate on its own like the Warrior Project CM, although if I went with my original plan (mimicry of other Guyver units/Kavzar/etc. via detailed hyper sensor scans, though the power of such attacks would be limited by what the subject unit itself can pull with power from the HSL, host bio-energy or what have you, and certain units would be immune to it, like Jason's or W'Kar), a second hidden CM that was dedicated to storing that information for future use might make a second CM a viable choice. Whether I try going with potentially getting a Relic CM to make a Gigantic, which then would possibly allow the Gigantic version to better mimic the other Gigantics or Enforcer Kavzar (though Matrix-enhanced and W'Kar stuff would likely still be out of reach) would depend on just how many Relics are around on Earth. The Utah Relic, I know, is gone, as are a couple of others. Chronos seems to control access to several more (though I'm not sure if it's really said how many specifically), and I'm figuring there's likely still more that just haven't been found yet.
  5. Basically... I'm looking at a control medal that acts as a neural net processor. I know the Warrior Project control medal is actually 4 partial C-Medals (or compressed, since I've always had the impression that the partial C-Medals could potentially be fully functional on their own, but I freely admit that I could be wrong on that assumption) working in tandem to improve efficiency. The general appearance would be more like an octagonal pyramid (whether it would incorporate 8 partial C-Medals or not, I'm undecided on, but I like the mental visualization of it that I'm getting there). So far, I figure something like the HSL being integrated into the control medal function would be a necessity, with the premise that the neural net nature would operate much like a hypercube (4+ dimensional cubes -- Wikipedia has a page on them). I'm gearing towards something that might approach Zygote Guyver, at least in terms of the control medal being able to adapt and learn from previous experience and develop its own sentience. Unlike Zygote, however, I'm planning for the sentient nature to be more an artificial intelligence that can help guide the host and offer advice (I'm thinking Jarvis from the Iron Man movies, or perhaps Cortana from the Halo video game series as examples of the kind of AI I'm looking at), rather than going rogue the way Zygote did -- it will still occasionally take control when the situation calls for it, but it would be operating using a combination of its own innate knowledge and experience, coupled with that of the host.
  6. I'm assuming, then, that I've got the gist of it right otherwise in regards to the control medal function, especially given all the fan-faction that backs up that initial blurb I've always read concerning it. Hmm. The specifics of what I'm considering, I may need to move to the Fan Writer's forum to discuss more fully, since the control medal will play a huge part in what I'm looking to do for trying to write my own fan-fiction (yes, several years later, and I'm still trying to get a start on it).
  7. Okay, next question (moving to another aspect of the Unit-G's inner workings): virtually everywhere I've looked, it seems that there's the same blurb about the Control Medal, in that it's basically an organic-based CPU that regulates how the unit functions, keeps the parasitic aspect of the Unit-G from devouring the host, so on and so forth. Am I missing anything in that? Part of why I ask, admittedly, is because I'm considering something to push the envelope in how the control medal of a Guyver unit operates, but I want to be certain I understand the specifics of how a basic control medal works first, before brainstorming about modifying a control medal (even beyond the Warrior Project).
  8. Aha! This will teach me to look more closely at different subjects! Thanks guys. Now I'll happily wait for Data Files, though I know they're still in progress.
  9. Wow... just, wow. Matt, I am (once again, like I have been when seeing your artwork when I peek in here and there over the last several years) in awe. Very cool. Like a lot of others, I was really torn between 1 and 4, but I ultimately went with 1. Now... to see what WG US will look like. Oh yes... Sean has been long overdue for an upgrade.
  10. Maybe I'm missing it, but is there any place specifically that notes just how the hyper sensor orbs on the Guyver work? I've wondered if perhaps it's some sort of "radar sense" or echolocation, but not had much luck in trying to find out for certain. I checked the Bio-Booster Armor Guyver thread to see if perhaps it had been asked there, but saw nothing.
  11. Part of me would have to say Sho as well, for much the same reasons Juggernought said. Sho's been driven to push the limits time and again to be something more. Which brings up an interesting point -- how far can someone push their connection to their respective Guyver unit through sheer will alone?
  12. Grife, been ages since I've been around the forums. Heh. Well... McAvoy wrote: Hmm... maybe an accident with the Assassin Unit would fit the bill there, assuming duplicates were made? It's dual-CM, although technically the primary CM is the hidden one (I assume hidden via subspace), while the secondary CM is the visible one that all Guyvers have.
  13. I did a Guyver-esque character on CoH back when I was playing it as well: Martial Arts/Regen scrapper. It was fairly decent (I only took him up to something like level 6 or 7), but the vast majority of my time was spent playing an Electric Blast/Electricity Manipulation blaster (he was level 37 before I finally axed my subscription after not playing for most of two months). My biggest problem with the game right now is that the developers pretty much have made liars out of themselves. CoH was originally touted to be solo-able all the way to level 50 (the max), and teaming with others was an option. Now, it's the reverse: you're forced to team just to survive, and solo'ing is pretty much a non-option. I'm not sure if I'll go back to it or not. I might, but I might not. CoV, though, I've heard good things about. I may try it once the price goes down in stores and I have the funds to subscribe again. Depends on what happens over the next few months.
  14. Possibly. Although another potential theory is that the "unkillable factor", as you put it, was perhaps something that occurred in Alkanphel's newly acquired Warrior Unit prototype. Your theories on G-2 and G-3 sound plausible enough to me. I'm still trying to work out the kinks on the fanmade Unit-G I've been tinkering with for God only knows how long, but the main issue behind the kinks I have, I'll post about before too much longer, since they're kinks of a scientific nature.
  15. Yeah, but the emulator is pretty hefty, weighing in at an extra $100. Not to mention, the emulator (from what I've kept hearing over and over again from a lot of different people) only supports certain XBox games, not the entire XBox library. A real shame, too: I may wind up switching back to PS2 and wait for the PS3, which will still completely support PS and PS2 games from everything I've heard thus far.
  16. Huh. I always figured the Battle Unit and the Stealth Unit were the prototypes along with the Life Force Unit for the Warrior Project. Maybe it's just me, but I always found it a bit more than coincidental that they're both G-2 and G-3 designations, respectively.
  17. Dear Lord, no. Raimi (and this is just my opinion here, folks) should have held off that stuff with Osborne discovering the Green Goblin gear until the end of 3. I thought all the lead-up to it in 2 was bad, considering we already saw him in the first movie. As far as 3 goes... SPOILER ALERT! Are you still here? Okay, then. Topher Grace is playing Eddie Brock/Venom, from what I've understood, while Thomas Hayden Church (of 'Wings' fame, as well as the indie film 'Sideways') is supposed to be Sandman.
  18. Several of you may remember a thread I had running several months ago, where I had been playing with a new Guyver concept and decided to start a fanfic based in the WG universe that I entitled "The Proteus Saga". After a start of sorts, I sorta ran out of steam when it came to writing the first combat scene. Well, I'm looking at picking it up once again, starting afresh with a new beginning. The crux, however, lies in just what sort of niche I want to try and fill with the main character, and how I want the story to progress. So, mostly out of curiosity, I have some things that I'd like folks to mull over and answer, if you're all willing to do so. Should this be set in the WG universe, or set in a similar (yet different) universe? If I go with an alternative universe... well, that's something I probably should ask Sully about, since the one that appeals to me to try and utilize (with his permission) would be the one from "Strange Worlds", where Chronos was in complete control and Fiona was found alive and became the Female Warrior Guyver before returning to the"prime Earth" (for lack of a better term) with Jason. If I stick with the WG universe proper, on the other hand, I have the benefit of having the first four installments already plotted out and just waiting on me to write it up. Of course, I have a kernel of an idea in mind for my own universe in the making, but it's something where it would make the most sense to start in the WG universe and then move into the new universe and go with the action there. With that in mind, I want to also share this: the new beginning of "The Proteus Saga", as it were. It does, given some of the names mentioned, have a setting in the WG universe, but it is something that can be tweaked if I go with an alternative route. Read on, and enjoy. ============================================================= It began more than two million years ago, a simple experiment by an advanced alien conglomerate known simply as the Creators to see if a human being could feasibly pilot one of their ships once bonded with a device they called the Unit-G, and in the process add them to their collective as warriors alongside their Zoalords and Zoanoids. Instead of the success they had hoped for, it almost ended there, with the Creators abandoning their seed world of Earth because of the potential rogue nature of the Unit-G and a human host... becoming, in effect, an entity that could only be described as the ultimate warrior. They called it guyver, out of control, and washed their hands of Earth. Then, two hundred thousand years later, the Creators returned, beginning their experiments once again, attempting the creation of a more powerful Unit-G that would allow them to defend themselves against threats from within and without. Different Unit-Gs were created, with different projects named after them to signify their purpose... the Kavzar project... the Nova project... the Warrior project. The unthinkable then occurred: a Zoalord activated a Unit-G. Going rogue, this Guyver Zoalord managed to single-handedly annihilate the majority of the Creators? defenses before a Warrior Guyver from the future was thrown back in time, and managed to defeat and then destroy the Guyver Zoalord. Of course, this was enough for the Creators. Abandoning Earth once again, the Creators retreated to the confines of their Empire, continuing their research as well as creating a new humanoid race that would become their army: the Kavzar, with their Aceaer-Caste, Kavzar warriors and commanders, and even their most powerful creations, the Enforcer Kavzar. Time passed, and the thoughts concerning Earth faded into obscure memory by many of the Creators. However, there was still one who remembered...
  19. Someone mentioned Transformers... good game. Hard, though. Took me 9 days (playing 2-3 hours each session, if not longer) to beat it on the Recruit setting (easy), and there's still Veteran (medium) and Commander (hard) settings to go. Right now, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow should be out for the PS2, I've just not found it yet. That's an obvious buy. So is StarCraft: Ghost (I've been waiting for that one breathlessly since they originally posted a November 2003 release, and you see how it's been pushed back to at least next month, if not later). If I had an X-Box, I'd definitely say Halo 2. I got Halo for PC, and loved it (it'll be better once I get the money saved for the nVidia GeForce FX 5200 graphics card I'm gonna buy for my comp so that I can see it so much better). Of course, the real reason for that graphics card is so I can actually play Knights of the Old Republic. Given how good it's supposed to be, as well as the hype surrounding it's sequel, I suppose I may nab KOTOR 2 when it comes out... so long as it doesn't mean I have to upgrade the graphics yet again. I am rather annoyed that I'm gonna have to outlay $120 or more (gotta love having to buy the PCI card version of the graphics card) for my graphics card to play KOTOR, but I think it'll be worth it.
  20. This is the main reason I'm betting on Darmon being a precursor to Hunter and (indirectly) Crystalite, as well as Life-Force Guyver and Reaper Guyver. Although, in Hunter's case, the Grakkens certainly didn't help matters, but even so, the Creators still made things much worse by toying with him again (since Hunter was originally Creator tech anyway). I dunno if all the HSL-equipped Guyvers have the Darmon backup. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest, though, to discover that Solom added the Darmon backup in either the 2nd or 3rd WG prototypes.
  21. Huh... I'd thought that LFG was the first to have Darmon's energy-draining system in addition to the HSL. Now I have to wonder if the 2nd and 3rd Warrior Unit prototypes also had Darmon energy-draining capabilities or not...
  22. Sith Guyver wrote: The orange Kavzar have been making a few appearances over the course of the WG fics. Who controls them has yet to be determined, although there are numerous rumors and opinions regarding them. Darmon, a bit more has been established about: Life-Force Guyver was the first Warrior Unit to have a Darmon-based energy draining system (yeah, Darmon was evidently some sort of energy vampire or something, at least from what I've read so far), and it took over when LFG's HSL system bombed out during the Supreme Test against Guyver Supreme. Reaper Guyver also has a Darmon-based energy draining system that functions through the scythe that Reaper Guyver carries with him (I think it works even without the scythe, but the scythe does make it more powerful, sorta like Ninja Guyver's HSL enhancements through his power sword). McAvoy wrote: Heh, I was wondering when you'd show up, McAvoy. I figured you'd have chipped in by now. I won't argue with the reasoning here, but I still think Darmon could be the threat. There are always possibilities, and the chance that Darmon might eventually (if not already) obtain a Unit-G is a possibility worth considering. Makes you wonder, though... perhaps it wasn't solely the fear of a Guyver Zoalord appearing when the Creators left Earth the first time, but also perhaps the fear of Darmon getting a Unit-G and activating it. If that were the case, then McAvoy's calculations seem pretty consistent.
  23. Probably. I think it's the Darmon entity, myself, but at the same time, I can't discount the one(s) controlling the orange Kavzar forces, as they've already proven that they can and will attack their own kind without any real provocation. But my money, given what we've seen so far, is on Darmon.
  24. Personally, I'm not certain that the Creators will be the ultimate BBEG for the Warrior Guyver universe... my own view is that Darmon might be involved in some way as the BBEG, but that's just a guess. All I've tried to do is point to why it is that the Creators, as a group, have shown themselves to be unreliable as potential allies to humanity. As I said before, though, humanity isn't really ready to make that sort of alliance themselves, either. Both sides have a long way to go before a mutually beneficial long-term stable alliance could be made between each side (I say that because right now, any such alliance would be tenuous at best). The orange Kavzar... those guys I've not attempted to guess about, mostly because I've not really read enough to have seen them often. My gut instinct says they serve a renegade sect of Creators that themselves could possibly be the BBEG that everyone's afraid of, but this is all hypothetical guesswork, and therefore taken with a grain of salt. Could have, yes... but they didn't, because they knew that Jason had come from the future, and he was their only chance at defeating Guyver Zoalord. If the Creators had destroyed Earth afterwards... well, that leads to a rather nasty temporal paradox that makes my head ache. True enough. Humanity has grown intellectually far beyond what the Creators expected, and such curiosity has given them pause. However, remember that we're also talking about individual Creators, such as Draven, Krullnar and Galen: what the Creators think as a group, however, is another matter entirely.
  25. Sith Guyver wrote: Indeed. That's been the general feeling that I've gotten from the Creators as a collective entity. Weltall2 wrote: I'm not letting Alkanphel shirk from his responsibility in getting humanity into this predicament. Truth be known, there's plenty of blame to go around, whether it be directed at Alkanphel alone, the Creators alone, or both... personally, both are responsible for getting humanity into this mess, but that's just my opinion. If Alk had been able to leave Earth with the Creators... Earth would have been toast, no question. I don't think Alk would have cared at that point: in fact, he probably would have agreed wholly with the reasoning of the Creators in tossing that asteroid at Earth. But that's something we could never fully explore unless someone goes into some sort of alternate dimension where Alk did leave with the Creators, and even then we'd just be getting one possibility. But the Creators did leave Alkanphel behind. Yes, of course the Creators were afraid of a Guyver Zoalord. Reeve as the Guyver Zoalord was bad enough... think of how much worse it would have been if Alkanphel had been the Guyver Zoalord: Alk was the pinnacle of Zoalord engineering at the time, the most powerful entity on Earth, so to speak. At the same time, though, Alk was basically human, and seeing their most powerful weapon magnified a hundredfold (assuming, of course, that the bio-boosting from the Guyver effect would have matched what it's been shown to do with a normal human), and out of their control... you get the idea. As far as a Guyver Zoalord Darmon... doubtful, but I won't count out the possibility. I'll point you, however, to the debate McAvoy and I had going on the Crystalite thread (further down the thread list on this forum), and state the basis of my view: I think Darmon is an uber-Crystalite of sorts. If the Guyver effect worked on Darmon... yeah, he'd be a threat to the universe. But I'm not certain that it would work... Crystalite came into being because a fragment of Hunter's crystal (which, If I remember Correctly, was originally considered a part of Darmon, but don't hold me to that) absorbed into Jenny's Turbo Unit and then completely re-wrote the Guyver organism to match the new parameters ingrained into the crystal fragment itself.
