  1. Just saw a little something on Wikipedia: while Hayter made the pitch to Steve Wang, the rights to The Guyver reverted back to the original owners in Japan. So it looks like, much as a Guyver III movie would be potentially cool, it likely won't be happening unless someone got the rights to it again and gave Hayter and Wang a chance.
  2. Just to let everyone know: I'm wrapping up Preparations (Part I) soon (hopefully in the next couple of days), and right now it's looking to be a three-part story that ranges from about a year after the events of Inception up through the end of Seven Days (Part 7), if not perhaps a little longer. I'll be coordinating mainly with Sully to get some things figured out, insofar as his intentions for the rewrites for Revenge up through Seven Days (Part 6) goes, so that I can be writing in line with what Sully has planned. Hopefully, I'll also have a chance to chat some with Matt about a couple of things as well. At the moment, however, I'm gonna be focusing predominantly on Gabe and the journey he's taking in the years from X-Day on through Seven Days, and how he makes his preparations to ultimately become Carter's choice to help retrieve the Stellar Warrior Unit with Sean / WG-US. Preparations (Part II) will show a slightly different view of the events that originally introduced Gabe, Yuri and Dorian in Time War (Part 5) -- chiefly in that the scenes showing them will reflect Gabe's personal perspective on the Cyber Guyver/Guyver 2 Female attack on the ACTF, as well as the aftermath. And that's... about all the hint you're gonna get right now. That said, I hope you're all enjoying things so far. Edit: Okay, I lied. I managed to finish Preparations (Part I) earlier this afternoon, and got a page or so into Preparations (Part II). So much for my NaNoWriMo... except I'm still trying to write that as well. The writing bug, it seems, has bitten me pretty hard.
  3. Skynet is getting closer every day... at least to the T-1000: http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/166656-terminator-polymer-can-spontaneously-self-heal-in-just-two-hours And look, we're all cyborgs already! Take that, Kurzweil! http://news.yahoo.com/minicomputers-live-inside-human-brain-113240564.html
  4. A little something that should tide you over, and show that I am still working up the overall second story. Preparations (Part I) Disclaimer: This is a fan-fic based on characters created by Yoshiki Takaya and contains violent situations with adult language. All other characters are created by Brian O’Sullivan, et al for the Warrior Guyver fan-fiction website. August 26, 2007 -- Northern Washington DC -- A Seemingly Abandoned Industrial Estate “For crying out loud, Sean, can't you keep the damage down? These things are a pain to rebuild.” In the year since Gabe had been reunited with Cori and had gotten to know Sean, the trio had become a common sight together. While Cori watched over the combat tests between Sean and the Red Type battle armors, Gabe was the one fixing the armors before joining Cori to look over the test footage more closely and analyze the results. It had been interesting, to say the least, in what had resulted: Gabe would inevitably try to introduce something new to see how it worked, not only helping to push the limits of the Red Type armors, but also to keep Sean on his toes. Needless to say, more often than not those tests meant a lot of work for Gabe. Case in point: the wrecked remains of the Red Type battle armor that Gabe had been controlling via remote, which he was now standing over and shaking his head. The torso of the armor, which housed the ****pit, was bisected vertically by Guyver US, courtesy of his vibrational swords -- an instant death for the pilot, had there been one. The legs were still standing, in spite of significant damage to the armor and chassis, but the rest of the exo-armor was on the floor, leaving a trail of exposed wiring and littering the area with armor fragments and smaller components. “It's not my fault the Red Type armors weren't meant to fight someone like me,” Guyver US’s mechanically-distorted voice replied. A moment later, there was a sound of displaced air as the bio-armor retracted, and Sean came over to stand beside Gabe. “Still, though, it was a nice workout.” “Like you even broke a sweat,” Gabe muttered. “Hell, these things were never meant for military application. They're supposed to be a next-generation space suit for NASA. Repurposing them for combat duty...” His voice trailed off. “I know Carter and Dr. Drake need every bit of firepower they can get, but the hydraulics and armor alone limit the overall effectiveness.” He knelt down to pick up one of the armor fragments. “This is supposed to be good enough for a tank, Sean, and you sliced right through it like a hot knife through butter.” “The Zoanoids won't be able to do that. These tests are really unfair for you and the Red armors. We knew that going in.” Sean knelt down beside Gabe, glancing for a moment at the observation control booth where Cori was gathering all the data before looking back at Gabe again. “By the way, there's something I've been meaning to ask you.” “Fire away.” Sean paused for a moment, then dove right in. “Why do you call Cori 'Sis' all the time?” Gabe glanced over at Sean. “She told you about my parents, right? What happened to them?” “Drunk driver hit them head-on. Killed them both instantly.” “Right.” Gabe tossed the armor fragment over towards the still-standing legs of the exo-armor. “When that happened, Marcus and Cori became the closest thing to family I had left. Marcus essentially became a second father.” He looked back at the booth where Cori was hard at work. “Of course, that meant that Cori was adopted as my annoying little sister.” “I heard that!” came Cori's voice over the intercom. “Now you've done it,” Sean said wryly, though there was a bit of a grin on his face. “That's all right,” Gabe replied. “She'll forgive me as soon as I make a batch of my lasagna. She knows who makes the best on base, and it ain't the military cooks here.” “Very funny. You still owe me that recipe, you know.” “Not my fault you keep forgetting to ask me about it, Sis. Besides, you kept disappearing for months at a time. You really need to quit doing that. Otherwise I'm not doing my job as your adopted big brother.” “Save it. Get up here, both of you. We've got data to crunch.” ============================================================================================== A couple of minutes later, the trio sat in the observation booth while Cori replayed the battle footage for them. The battle was just as lopsided as Sean's earlier words had proclaimed: forty-two seconds had passed from start to finish, with Guyver US making use of his vibrational swords and infrared laser orb, as well as a few solid kicks and punches that actually put some dents in the Red exo-armor's armor panels. Finally, the top half of the exo-armor was severed through the ****pit with a solid hit from the vibrational swords, and Guyver US had delivered one last roundhouse kick to knock the torso and arms off the rest of the body. “Sean does have a point, Gabe,” Cori finally said. “These tests aren't fair, even with all the effort you've put into trying to make it more of a challenge. What we really need is to test these things against some Zoanoids and let the Red Types duke it out with them.” “Good luck trying to convince Carter of that,” Sean said. “I think he plans to hold tight and stockpile as much as he can before making his move. There's something to be said for making preparations.” “There is that,” Gabe finally admitted, leaning back in his chair. “And I know this testing is flawed, at least in gauging the performance of the exo-armor itself. But it does give us some insights into just how powerful the Guyver unit is, when activated.” He frowned a little bit. “It doesn't mean I have to like it, but there's only so much that can be done right now, at least with the available technology.” Cori saw Gabe's expression suddenly grow thoughtful. “What are you thinking of?” Gabe glanced up. “Umm, just thinking of possibilities.” ============================================================================================= From General Carter's office, both the general and Dr. Drake were observing the same footage, as well as listening in on the trio's conversation. “He's wrecked seven Red Type armors in testing,” Carter commented. “I think we're going to have to begin with the alternative. We can't afford to keep rebuilding the exo-armors like this.” “Agreed.” Dr. Drake leaned back in his chair. “Though I have to admit, Gabriel's done some things I had never originally considered. His work with these tests are why I've already begun drafting a new battle armor design: the Blue Type. Hopefully with some of the engineering advancements I've been keeping track of, it will boost the armor's efficiency in combat.” “Fair enough.” Carter looked at the screen closely. “Kelso's deep in thought. Thinking of perhaps the next modification to the Red Type?” “I don't think so,” Dr. Drake disagreed, gazing at the screen as well. “He's not happy about what he's seen the Guyver to be capable of, and he knows he hasn't seen everything that Sean's unit is capable of doing.” He grew quiet for a moment. “I'll talk with him later, pick his brain and let him know that further Red Type testing against Sean is off-limits for the time being.”
  5. Just when we thought Iron Man was just a comic book enthusiast's dream: http://movies.yahoo.com/blogs/movie-talk/meet-talos-u-military-real-life-iron-man-233920589.html In keeping with the comics, who'd have thought it? Supersenses? http://news.yahoo.com/smelling-storms-human-supersenses-may-become-reality-114537933.html And even though we're a long ways from this, an intriguing idea for grabbing some new real estate for the human race: http://news.yahoo.com/incredible-technology-shells-terraform-planet-140940649.html
  6. I've started writing as well -- in fact, Inception in the Character Stories is my intro for Gabe Kelso, who will eventually become the Stellar Warrior Guyver. I'm working on my second story, which I think will probably bridge the gap between Inception and the events of Union of the Guyvers. From there... well, we'll see what happens. With Gabe getting the Stellar Unit in Sully's Story 10 (I think 10 is where it will happen), I'll still have plenty of story hooks to play with in the meantime.
  7. And thus, I am now on notice. Thanks for posting up the story, Sully. And I hope you all enjoy reading the whole thing. In the meantime, I'm slowly working up a second story, probably also post-X-Day, before the ACTF starts pushing back; with Tetsuro coming in to help Dr. Drake with the Teal and Green battle armors, that should be a green-light for Gabe to get out into the action a bit more as a field agent, and do some things that will help lead towards the mission to retrieve the Stellar Unit and its subsequent activation.
  8. Will Gabe's story be added as well, out of curiosity?
  9. Much as I would be intrigued by it, I don't see it happening -- not unless Wang was directing and Hayter was writing the screenplay. Dark Hero was far, far better than Mutronics, but Hayter's too old to play Sean at this point. Still, it would be interesting to see what might happen, depending on how things were to work out.
  10. Okay, just to let everyone know -- I sent Inception to Sully yesterday via email (hopefully everything is all good on the .DOC formatting front with it). So the next time Sully updates the website, hopefully it will be there.
  11. While figuring up a rough draft of what abilities the Stellar Warrior Guyver would potentially have -- assuming Sully doesn't already have this written up; I'm planning to submit it to him regardless and let him see what he thinks of it -- something occurred to me that has me scratching my head in puzzlement. Specifically, I'm curious about the effects of an electromagnetic pulse. It goes without saying that EMPs can short out electrically-powered devices within the area of effect. So my question is thus: What, if any, effect would an EMP have on a Unit-G of any type? I'm not entirely certain there would be any effect, but it would also depend just how "organic" the Unit-G is. Mutronics has a line of dialogue indicating that the Unit-G is a device composed of organic and inorganic compounds; Takaya, so far as I've heard, hasn't said one way or another just what the Unit-G is. My personal plan, so far as things went with Gabe and leading up to his bonding with the Stellar Unit, was that I was going to theorize that the parasite from which the Unit-G is derived would be passingly similar to what Michael Bay did with Transformers (where the Cybertronians were a silicon-based lifeform with their own "genetic code", in a manner of speaking), but have the Unit-G parasite be mutable enough to take on not only the inorganic properties of metal and crystal, but also the organic (carbon-based) properties that life on Earth possesses. I'm likely way off base yet again on things, but the thought crossed my mind, and I'm curious to see what other people think.
  12. Okay! I confess, there were times when I thought this day would never come, but there is good news on the horizon for those who are interested in Gabe. "Inception" (that's what I'm still calling the story at the moment, at least) is pretty much done, which means everyone will soon get to see the finished product. I'm putting the final finishing touches on it now (literally), and once that's done, I'll send it to Sully so he can add it onto the site whenever he has a chance. I've also been working on a first draft for the data file for the Stellar WG, tinkering with some ideas. Those, though, I'm planning to run by Sully first, to get an idea of just what sort of plans he has for the Stellar Unit. Speaking of which, Sully: what's the best way to send it to you? I have it saved as an MS Word document, and have also been using OpenOffice (which is MS Word-compatible, thankfully).
  13. Interesting... That will help in Gabe getting out into the field, once that happens -- and allow him to dig more into the theoretical aspects of what the Uranus and Gen were doing when they developed the Guyver technology (in the Gen's case, updated it with all the various Projects) to team up some with Cori's more practical knowledge, since she's actually seen the technology work. And, I'm sure I've asked this before and forgotten: Union of the Guyvers is when, exactly? Is it going to be that four-year point where the ACTF starts taking the fight back to Chronos, or will things still be under Chronos dominion at that point? Just want to be sure of when things are happening, in case I do any post-X-Day stuff with Gabe that's before everything really begins.
  14. By my powers of thread necromancy, I resurrect this thread! Ahem. Seriously -- I'm still fiddling with Gabe's intro story, hoping to try and get that done before too much longer. I've been taking a bit of time away from it (having had to switch computers again -- I swear I have the worst luck imaginable for computers the last few years, but at least this time I didn't lose any of my work -- didn't help matters), but I'm getting back into it now. With luck, I'll have a finished product by the end of the month, and can send it to Sully for him to look over and post up when he's ready.
  15. http://news.yahoo.com/study-digital-information-stored-dna-180124336.html Ooo, look! Something new to add into Cori's and Gabe's theories on Uranus and Gen technology.
  16. The only way Iron Man should be "cute" is if Ultron gets hold of him and turns him into a woman... Oh wait, they already did that in the comics a while back. Anyway, Iron Man chibi looks cool. The Alfa Gigantic is really nice -- maybe I've gotten used to the WG crew, but with the plethora of blues and greens and blacks and the like, Alfa has a very interesting color scheme; I looked up what she drew there for Guyver Alfa as well, pretty impressive. But your work, as usual, is amazing.
  17. Did the Uranus put Limitation Devices in their Units? If memory serves, those are a Gen addition to the Guyver units, and the Guyver Zoanoid's unit is an older Uranus model, just like Sean's was before he got the upgrade to Warrior Guyver US. In fact, I seem to recall a rumor that supposedly Sean's original unit and Crane's unit were both from the Utah Relic.
  18. Not all hosts, there is a reason why Jason is and Stephen is not. If I remember Correctly Jason "Type 1" unit was for a Gen to use so would have enhanced their already present mental abilities, while Stephens "Type 2" was purely for combat/Kavzar use so didn't need the psionics. Fiona has a psychic link with Jason -- it's the closest to telepathic ability she has, with or without her Unit (which is also Type I prototype, like Jason's was before the Matrix enhancements). It takes her activating the Warrior Gigantic Jason has and becoming Valkyrie before she can access limited telepathic (and telekinetic) capability. I believe that Jason's telepathic ability is the result of the Matrix interfacing with his Warrior Guyver CM and enhancing it.
  19. The thing, though, is that when the Guyver activates (and zeo or Sully can correct me if I'm mistaken on this), that whole "strength of 100 men" figure is predicated on peak human potential of the host. So really, everything the Guyver does is based off basically being Captain America to begin with, just without some of the really cool stuff (like how he can purge toxins from his system before they can build up, meaning he can be pretty tireless), which is a large part of how he can run a mile in something like 73 seconds, or lift about half a ton or so unaided.
  20. Normally I don't resurrect topics from the dead if I can help it, but I just realized something while doing a little basic math. (( Note: this is based solely off the data files as presently presented, and may be subject to change. )) Let's take that 11 hour figure: a Warrior Guyver (Jason pre-Matrix, FWG, WGC (assumed, since his CPM channels only into his Comet Attack) and WG5) has ten times the regenerative rate of a standard Guyver, so 1.1 hours (66 minutes). WG4 has only 4x the standard Guyver healing rate, which would be 165 minutes (2.75 hours). WG2/WG3 has 10x regenerative rate normally, up to 20x with the internal CPM boost, which means 66 minutes baseline, as little as 33 minutes with a full CPM charge augmenting the healing process. Oh, and Jason's Matrix-enhanced form? Anywhere from 99 to 396 seconds. Let's go Gigantic with this, shall we? Ultimus: unknown (part of this stems from the fact that WGC's regenerative rate is unstated, but I'm assuming Jason pre-Matrix level since the CPM doesn't channel into his healing factor; part of it stems from the lack of mention in how the Giant Unit might augment WGC's regenerative rate) Valkyrie: 13 minutes, 22 seconds - 22 minutes Zeus: 396 seconds Dreadnought: 39.6 - 99 seconds Scary, no?
  21. From the DC perspective, their power levels are through the roof. Superman? Moves small planets. Wonder Woman? Magic, and there's nothing established to indicate how the Guyver in general would react to that. Batman? Well, he'll probably know and be able to communicate that the control medal is the weak point after some observation. (( And if you think I'm giving the Bat too much credit... well, he is the guy who had a plan to take out the entire JLA if they got too dangerous. )) Even a WG unit would have some problems if you're going to talk toeing up against some of DC's mightiest (or even some of their second-tier power level types). Jason might be able to give the top-tier guys like Superman, Captain Marvel, Martian Manhunter, and Green Lantern a go (courtesy of the Matrix) in the short term, but there are limits to that -- mostly of Jason's own making in his unwillingness to completely leave humanity behind to become more powerful. In the end, there's not really much way to compare DC and Marvel for the sake of the Guyver, simply because both comics use such a drastically different power scale level. I can go all "gaming geek" with the DC Universe Role-Playing Game in the Science Lab forum if you guys like.
  22. Thoughts, comments, etc.? I'm not going to spoil the events of the movie or anything like that -- I will, however, say that Christopher Nolan did a remarkable job when it comes to bringing the entire trilogy to life, and TDKR definitely lives up to its billing. Tom Hardy was very good as Bane (far better than the imbecile cretin we saw in "Batman and Robin"), Anne Hathaway did pretty good as Selina Kyle... the entire ensemble cast did an outstanding job. ...I make no promises about wanting to see something like the Tumbler and the Bat in the fan-fiction, though.
  23. That thing is sweet: 6000+ plastic BBs per minute from both Gatling cannons, and compressed-water propelled plastic rockets. Alas, they start at $1.35 million US, but you can have one custom-built on their webpage, at least within certain limits.
  24. Looking at the Known Advanced Power Generating Methods page (http://warriorguyver.com/wgfanfic/dataf ... apgmdf.htm), I'm curious: how large are the systems in question? Specifically, the Dimensional Coupler, the Micro-Fusion Reactor and the Hyper Micro-Fusion Reactor? I know the Dimensional Coupler is small enough to be integrated into the Robo-Guyver power armor and the Green Type I exo-armor, and two micro-fusion reactors can fit into the Teal Wolf armor -- so I guess my question is more along the lines of how compact and miniaturized they're supposed to be, in comparison to, say, Tony Stark's miniaturized Ark Reactor in the Iron Man movies?
  25. I confess, I may be reaching above my means here, but as I’ve pondered Gabe and how he’ll grow and evolve as a character, I keep coming back to what happens once he activates the Stellar Unit. I have some ideas for what to try and do, and I’ll list them below, as well as try to keep within some of the general guidelines that have been laid out. Strength: I’m actually tempted to make the Stellar Unit weaker than a standard Warrior Unit. Part of this comes from the fact that Stellar WG is supposed to be far more about the firepower than anything else, to the point where there’s no melee weaponry (something I’ll delve more thoroughly into momentarily). I’m thinking 300 men here (3x standard Guyver), which is a 25% reduction in overall physical strength. Speed/Transportation: With the reduction in speed, I’m feeling that the Stellar Unit might prove faster in overall movement, especially when it comes to space-travel. Considering upping the speed a bit past normal Warrior Unit; not worrying about teleportation here so much. As for space-travel itself, I’m pondering whether the Stellar Unit might take a page from the Enforcer Kavzar, and be able to open spatial warps/wormholes for faster-than-light travel -- which leads to some interesting possibilities (more on that below). Durability: Not changing anything here. Control Orb/Forehead Laser Orb: Here’s where we start getting interesting. Gravity is out, as per Sully -- gravity isn’t something really worried about when it comes to a unit designed for deep space combat. So, I’m thinking electromagnetism as a basis -- this would power flight capabilities, the forehead laser orb atop the Control Medal (instead of just infrared, make it full-spectrum EM), wormhole/spatial warp generation for faster-than-light travel, etc. This would move beyond the functions outlined here and delve into the other weaponry systems Sonic Busters/Vibrational Swords: Non-existent, as sonic energy is a wash when it comes to the vacuum of space (no one can hear you scream and all that); however, given the potential inherent with having the Control Orb be electromagnetic in nature instead of gravity, I idly ponder the possibilities of borrowing another page from the Enforcer Kavzar: specifically, the energy matrix emitters that power their weapons modules, which can manifest both ranged and melee weaponry. The melee weapon tolerances, I’d keep on par with a Warrior Unit (because it’s not channeling the sheer power of an Enforcer Kavzar, so it doesn’t need to be as powerful -- so it’s not going to be slicing through polymorphic vibrational weaponry). Hyper Sensors: Here is another interesting facet I’m considering. I suspect range will be improved over the typical Warrior Unit, as well as overall levels of awareness -- partially due to Gabe’s own spatial awareness that he utilizes to good effect as a traceur (one who practices parkour, just in case anyone’s scratching their heads). How far to take that, I’m not sure -- I’m thinking, however, that the hyper sensors will be able to penetrate EM-based cloaking systems (quite possibly even penetrate Shadow Guyver’s cloaking field). Control Medal: In addition to the typical functions inherent in the Warrior Unit’s Control Medal, I envision the Stellar Unit having a little something extra: a sort of scholarly database, as it were. After all, you have to know spatial coordinates in order to move from one location to another -- sorta lika Stargate, really. It’ll work well enough when the Stellar Unit is on its own and opening up the wormholes/spatial warps for faster-than-light travel, though likely far more energy-intensive, especially when he’s bringing more than just himself along for the ride to another world. But where it will really shine is with other Relics -- the database can change, adding new destinations to the database and filling it out, improved communication between the Stellar Unit Control Medal and the Relic Control Medal for navigation or sensor purposes, etc. Other Phenomena: The chameleon quality of the bio-armor is a keeper; I daresay, the Stellar Unit might be able to create a cloaking field of its own, similar to Shadow Guyver. Otherwise, pretty much the same as a Warrior Unit. Thoughts? Too off-the-wall, too far afield, intriguing possibilities? I’m curious to know what you all think.
