  1. Hi everyone. I hope that everyone is staying safe from the severe weather where it is or forecasted. I don't have many plans for today aside from looking up some stuff and watching some videos later today. I have plans on working on some fan fic tonight and keeping an eye on the weather in the regions where it's going to get pretty nasty based on what I've heard. Stay safe everyone. I'll be back later
  2. Keep an eye out in the areas I mentioned above tomorrow, too. There's already extensive damage in parts of KS and AR tonight, and areas near there will get hammered tomorrow sadly.
  3. The Pontiac's the best car my brother ever owned, and aside from my father wanting to re-paint it, it was in good shape until the engine problems happened. We don't even drive it in winter out of fear of it getting run into. Oddly, we have a Geo Metro and a Ford Bronco that are used around the house, and they're as good as, if not better, than the cars we have now, but they're used as utility vehicles and the like. They'd have been good cars if not for that stuff.
  4. Sorry if I caused offense, but I'm talking more about people who do stuff like that intentionally, seemingly for no logical reason at all. They're not disabled, and (hopefully) have all their faculties about them. But people all each have their own idiosyncrasies, and I have plenty. Kinda reminds me of a Dutch quote that goes along the lines of "be yourself, that's strange enough". Sums up one of the more positive things about the human race as a whole. But I'm talking about stuff that people or animals do that defy logic. Such as for a lighter example, we have a cat that attacks water! When it comes out of the faucet, this cat swats at it, like it's trying to kill it LOL. And now here's one that's relevant to what's going on here in the US right now and one that can be dangerous, too, if people don't take the right precautions. Since severe weather is a big thing that's going on in my country right now, what about storm chasers? I understand the science part of it--trying to understand storms and how they work, and they provide useful early warning information as well--but it's the people who do it for the thrill. I sort of don't understand that, though, to be fair, I'm not a major thrill seeker. I guess that it's no different than race drivers, I guess. Though, from my POV, they do things in vehicles designed with accidents and collisions in mind. There's only a handful of specially armored and equipped vehicles developed for storm chasing.
  5. More Audi from Monza, in HQ:
  6. My father's trying to drive the Pontiac to his house so he can work on it. My mother is following him in the Ranger. The oil pressure would jump back and forth between 25lbs to pegging the gauge. I fear he might be towing the Pontiac back to his house with the Ranger at some point. The way he described it, the bypass valve is just little piston and spring check valve, and somehow, it's getting jammed open, because it's only supposed to open past a certain amount of pressure. Even if he blows it up, it might not be a huge loss, because he was already thinking of changing the engine in it at some point anyways. He didn't get the head gasket issue fixed before he wanted to give it back, and it might be easier to change the engine than do all of that stuff.
  7. The sounds of speed, by Audi:
  8. Hi everyone. Caught the NASCAR race last night and now I'm waiting for my parents to come out and visit. I also also still have pork chops left over from last night that I'll be making for dinner tonight at some point. Here's the newest, and very high quality, video of the Le Mans spec Audi R18 at Monza: I have plans on working on fan fic and stuff later on, and the past few days have been pretty good for me. I'll be back later
  9. I'd expect a young woman to dress like that (Natsuki wore a similar outfit in her most recent appearance in the manga), but here, that just looks so creepily out of place. No offense intended.
  10. I can't really stay up much longer, so I'll be calling a night soon. I did get some fan fic work done, not as much as I wanted to, but after being up for over 16 hours, it was more than I expected to do. I'll be back later
  11. If you live in the south central US, there's a risk of severe weather over the next couple of days, so be careful.
  12. Hi everyone. Just got done washing dishes not too long ago. I also watched the NASCAR race, and as in the shoutbox, I hinted that it was confrontation central. There were finger pointing, drivers wrecking each other on the last lap, cars nearly burned to the ground because of tire problems. The race winner promptly destroyed his rear tires during a burnout, and there was a fist fight in the garage area. Kinda entertaining, though, as I also posted in the shoutbox, I do wonder what the likes of Shizu and Agito, or other Guyver characters, would make of it. I do plan on working on fan fic shortly after I get done with looking up some stuff. I'll be back later
  13. The flip-flop stuff has always struck me as odd. Women have to get cold like men do. I don't tolerate the cold or hot very well. And as I said, I have no issue at all with it indoors or in warm weather, for reasons I've hinted at, mostly because I see that stuff as a bit of a feminine thing. But IMO it makes no sense to do that in the dead of winter unless a woman wears them indoors. For example, the sandals that I've seen Shizu wear in Guyver a couple of times. She wears them when it seems warm out, though in the Nov 2012 issue of Guyver, I do have to question the temperature, since Agito was wearing a jacket and Shizu herself was wearing a robe-like device. What time of year was depicted. It wasn't the middle of winter, granted, but it couldn't have been that warm it seems. But then again, this whole thing is just what I think about it. And it seems that women do that stuff more than men do.
  14. Gallery of some of the stuff I've been talking about: http://fourtitude.com/galleries/?c=show_thumbs;p=Motorsport%2FSportscar%2FWorld%20Endurance%20Challenge%2F2014%2F01%20-%206%20Hours%20of%20Silverstone
  15. It seems that the legendary discarded Atari video game cache was discovered in New Mexico...
  16. Looking up some stuff, and then I'll be taking a break for the NASCAR race, some dinner and to get ready for fan fic work
  17. And here's a what the hell is this: https://scontent-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/t1.0-9/10155903_10152312247801355_2846838404264034280_n.jpg Under the section 4.22.14, there's the answer: http://www.mulsannescorner.com/newsmarch14.html
  18. One of my friends went to the Walmart dressed as a Greece-Roman goddess, but that was Halloween. Some of the creations on Top Gear have made me go WTH lol
  19. These pics had better be from Halloween. Because if not, WTF is all I have to say LOL! One of my WTH things is the Laserlight stuff that Audi and BWM are supposed to have on their road cars in a year and the current versions of the Audi R18 have them. I think that I understand how they work, but at the same time, I sort of don't and I also wonder if that stuff, like LEDs, can be used in flashlights. And if so, how the hell would that work out for us? Laserlights are supposed to be ultra bright (replicating daylight), and what would we do with so much light?
  20. No s*** based on that picture! Sometimes, in general, I do wonder if where I live is some place where weird crap happens. For example, part of Mansfield looks like this great, phenomenal place to live, but a few roads over, it looks like an abandoned war zone with all the abandoned factories and vacated homes waiting to get torn down. All in a very small area of downtown. And yes, I've seen my fair share of WTF stuff at Walmart, but I can find stuff like that about anywhere I go. Hell, playing Postal 2 is loaded with those moments, but the game's a parody of everyday life and such stuff is intentional. But I'm glad that I live out in the country--things are bizarre enough out here sometimes as it is. My little brother had an encounter with a bat that came from the ceiling above his bed. Then he challenged my older brother to "capture the Batman" LOL.
  21. Chicken taco stuff was good, especially with the smaller chunks I broke the taco shells into. I just had some English muffins this morning, and used the new toaster. Should've left the muffins in the toaster for a while longer, and I wish I had some grape or strawberry jam with them along with butter, but with butter, they're still pretty good
  22. This isn't really a sciency thing, it's more humor geared thread about things that we see happen that we don't understand or think are strange. Things that defy logic, our senses, or even what we believe to be defying the laws of physics. These first two things are about stuff that women do. I'm an admirer of women on many levels. I don't want to cause offense, but I find women to be more creative and free-spirited than men, they're better listeners IMO, and they're people who I can be myself around more IMO than men. So I hope that you don't take what I say as slagging off against either women or men. One thing that I've always wondered about is women who wear flip-flops in winter. I mean, outside in winter, and not just running out side to get something, I mean running errands and stuff like that. That's never made sense to me. I've certainly got nothing against women wearing flip-flops when it's warm, or indoors, and I like it when women get pedicures and how they take care of their feet a lot of times, which I consider a feminine trait and a very admirable one IMO. But what happened to practicality? Flip-flops and (if they're wearing it) nail polish isn't gonna do crap to defend from the cold. It's not like they're Renesmee Cullen from the Twilight Saga, where Nessie runs a body temp of 105 degrees or something like that. Do some women have the ability to generate heat that I as a man fail to understand (lol)? I don't think so, considering how my mom, for as long as I've known her, has always been cold, and often, when she's cold, I'm sweatin' my ass off! I don't understand flip-flops in winter, and I don't understand why women say that wearing high heels hurts their feet, toes, legs and back, yet they defend their position by saying it makes their legs look longer and makes them look taller. That's true, but it is worth it? I like women of all shapes and sizes, and that's one of the beauties IMO of being human. The variety within the species is something to behold. Personally, I think that nurses, tomboys, and goth/emo chicks have it right. They wear flats, boots and sneakers a lot. And flats can be feminine. One of my friends from where I worked/will be working at wears flats all the time when she's not wearing sneakers, and she's one of the most feminine women I know. Again, this stuff doesn't make a ton of sense to me, and this is from a guy who admires most aspects of the female species. Though, to quote George Carlin, stuff like this and other thoughts "have kept me out of the really good schools" LOL! So discuss away about stuff that you see and made you think WTF or laugh because it was weird or not what you expected, or stuff that you don't understand from you logic, and don't be too serious about it. The important thing here is to have some fun. Also, if a mod wants to move this to science and philosophy because it fits better there, feel free to, though science isn't the main feature of this topic.
  23. Hi everyone. I watched the rain delayed NASCAR race last night and I went to sleep soon afterwards. I have plans on finishing up looking up some Audi stuff today and working on fan flc later. So I have a day full of stuff I want to do. At least I'm feeling a lot better now than I did yesterday or last night. @Jupiter: In all honesty, I can hardly stand alcohol. I've only had like two alcoholic things that I liked, and they were as expensive as hell. I guess that my view is a bit tainted by my grandfather being a drunk and he'd be a major asshole when drunk. Thankfully, when I was little, it wasn't much of a problem because health problems forced him to give up drinking. The ironic thing about this is that most of my friends drink and keep it under control. My biggest issue is smell and taste. I find that most of the stuff smells like paint thinner or nail polish remover, or even disinfectant. And the wine I tried was horrible. Granted, I paid only $3.30 a bottle, but even allowing for that, it was pretty horrid mule piss IMO. So I'd advise you to not buy that Oak Leaf brand wine. Whoever gave it the awards it got were probably crocked off their rockers. What the hell were they thinkin'? My little brother drinks, and he got some of that new Miller beer that comes in the grey can (it's name eludes me at the moment). He only wanted the can, but he said that the beer was the worst stuff he ever tasted. I didn't dare to try it. @everyone: I'll be posting a WTF type thread of stuff that we find weird or strange that we see everyday, be it stuff we see people do, or strange phenomena, or stuff like that. Now I'll post a little about me. I think that the lyrics to the Jane Child songs "Welcome to the Real World" and "I Don't Wanna Fall in Love" kinda sum me up. I posted videos for both songs in the music video thread. That, and they're kinda cool songs, too. I'll be back later
  24. Or self-fulfilling prophecy. IE, if you think negatively, negative stuff will happen, think positively, positive stuff will happen. A lot of things that happen are coincidence, but often times, if one says that something will be bad, they're setting themselves up for something to be bad, and the opposite can be true. I'd rather be surprised at times, but then again, especially if it's bad, I don't like surprises, so maybe I'm not the best one to say much on the subject, though there's been things that I though would suck that turned out to be pretty good, and stuff I hoped would be good that were better than I expected.
  25. I'll be making my dinner quite soon now. I'll be back and working on fan fic later
