graphene does look like the way of the future, but the costs involved in extracting/making it at the moment for large scale use would be astronomical. as for in the future, jezz, in our lifetime?(scratching head) i could see the benefits of this being used for military and ariel/space applications which would be funded by the bottomless pockets of government. but considering this is about the car industry, where we all know that manufacturers profits are at the top of the list, mmmmm, don't know? as for consumers use for 3D printing, well, maybe when every household has one, but i'm hoping that lounge chair with a 3D interactive hologram out of the movie 6th day becomes available and affordable first.

actually chernaudi, certain companies are starting to use metal 3D printing, although still experimental thanks to nasa's development. but even when i think about it, it'll still be weaker than a forged or cast item, as printing involves a layer on layer structure as compared to the other methods such as molten casting and finished machine or compressed billet forging, cnc finish machined. anyway, in a rush, just finished an 11hour day at work, want to watch last episode of supernatural and get some sleep before my big movie marathon tommorow, x4,zilla and maybe transcendence or something else, cheerio.

a 3d printed bolt won't have the same tensile strength as a tempered bolt. take a high tensile bolt, lock it in a vise and using a high tensile nut and spring washer, tighten it to 100ftbs. take a plastic or alloy bolt, nut and washer and do the same. there's a huge difference. and without high tensile fasteners, you'd be lucky if you make it out the driveway. if you need to use different grades of plastic or metal, then basic raw material cost will increase aswell.

yes, thanks durendal, yuki, you mentioned that one day you'd love to make/build your own car as you can't afford to buy one. i just wanted to mention that the experience i've had around restoring a few cars is that it can get expensive. and thats still having something to work with. your talking about making one from scratch! alot of people overlook the little things, and with cars i can tell you the last thing people notice are all the nuts, bolts, screws and washers. believe it or not, you'd find yourself spending upwards of $3000 on them alone! and if you're going to need any custom length high tensile bolts made, prepare yourself to pay anywhere between $80-$200 a bolt! unless you plan on glueing everything together, but i wouldn't recommend it.
-
to tell you the truth yuki, it'll probably cost over 3times the amount than just buying one that a manufacturers already made, and i'm speaking from experience. just ask anyone or search for anyone that has done a complete bare nut and bolt restoration on a car.(term, nut&bolt= everything) even kitcars eg; ac cobra, probably the most common and popular kit, looks like an easy, straight forward project but there's a reason why so many completed versions go for $40k+, and if everysingle part of the build was done by the owner, they'll still be making a loss at that price not to mention the countless sleepless hours. and with 3d printing of parts, maybe for little interior parts like a/c knobs and switch covers, as internally they still need copper contacts to work. and current regulatory design laws in many countries would prevent a plastic car i would imagine

i remember glanzing over something this week with arnold saying that he won't be digitised in this like in t4, quoting that his t-type is an metal skeleton surrounded by living tissue, which in all means, ages the same as a regular humans. also that the terminators in this movie would mostly be of the early proto-skeleton type, without the covering of skin or imitation skin(which in the movies was said to be of a rubber type combound which made them easier to spot) and that we'll be seeing more of the wasteland battles between rebels and machines as seen in reeces' flashbacks in T1. i'm hanging out for prom2, thats for sure.

i saw this last saturday and i have to tell the truth that i was actually pretty bored through out the whole movie. i felt some really good parts were edited out, especially with electro. you could really feel it buiding up through the scene and the music/electro's theme and then snip, nothing. eg, when harry free's electro and electro captures the sceintist, pulls him towards himself, an intense feeling scene and before anything happens, all of a sudden the sceintist is tiedup to the frame and electro is all calm, now with those little round plugs on his suit. but where did he get that suit from 'cause he wasn't wearing it just before?was he? did anyone else notice this in the movie? that alot of the strong, fleshy parts were just edited out or just incomplete? i was ready to walk out the theatre by that time because i knew the rest of the movie would probably be the same. although i think garfield did a better job at representing spidey this time around from the first one, i'm still a strong believer that toby's 1&2 were best and still better than this new one and garfield.

yep, thats right. if you're hired somewhere as casual staff, life can sometimes suck.but this also stretches to any paid volunteers. eg.75year old pensioner helps out at a school fate and gets paid for it. hit the nail on the head, hence why i left the industry some 10+ years agoi saw the start of it when our previous government before last(about 18 years ago) lowered the import tariffs on everything.

i hope we get a translation of this before the next chapter

to tell you the truth yuki, i thought the car industry in the UK collapsed years ago and the only manufacturer still there is rover! i don't know if the news has reached anywhere else in the world, but here in australia we only have 3 manufacturers, GM,FORD & TOYOTA. who have all announced late last year that they'll be closing down their manufacturing facilities by 2017 and moving production overseas and will only be importing vehicles to australia for sale. just the other day GM announced that they may be bringing the closure forward to early 2016. so that means production will wind down in 2015 and just the cleanup crew and machinery dissassemblers will remain to cleanout the factories and ship everything out. apparently there was a few seminars held by some leading analysts from the UK for the highup brass knobs. to show them that what ever they think the fallout will be when industry closes, to multiply it by 10, as they've seen it first hand in their own country. fact is, our economy has been falling for many years but its suppressed in the media, as government want people to keep on spending. they state that the unemployment rate has only now risen to just over 6% and some US officials were praising our government for keeping it that low. but what they and many others don't know is that here, if you are paid minimum for 1hours work in a week(yes, thats right) you are classed as employed! but, to tell you the truth, i've read somewhere that there were 800,000 new jobs, people employed in the US. this was roughly a short time after some aus/US conference where our polly's received the high praising. so it looks like to me that the US may have taken up the australian statistics modelling to employment data.

wow, 5 more days to go for the release and apparently they're just about to start production on xmen-apocalypse

What's for dinner? Literally, sort of...food discussion.
guyverfan replied to Chernaudi's topic in General 'whatever'.
it'll be too easy to just drop dead from eating all the wrong and unhealthy foods. unfortunately it takes alot of time and during that time are alot of illnesses. but the biggest burdon doesn't fall on that individual but on their family because their dependance on them becomes greater. for example, one of my older brothers. when he was younger he'd eat afew pie's, ice coffee, cola, burgers and the stuff. he was really overweight, but no matter how often i'd warn him about diabetes and heart disease, stomach cancer and liver disease, etc, he'd just get pissed off, argue with me and just continue eating like he was saying it's his life and he'll do what he wants. 2years ago, he sits with me and tells me he has some bad news to tell me, that he's been diagnosed with diabetes, but it's borderline and if he acts fast he won't have to inject himself but he's prescribed tablets for the rest of his life. how does this affect me? well the diabetes has caused problems with his eyesight and he requires to go to hospital every month to have lazer treatment to destroy some type of liquid/growth on the back walls of his eyeballs.and eventually he may loose his eye sight all together. well, thankyou bro for living your life, unfortunately i have to take time out of mine to look after you now and take you to your appointments, as he's partially blind after lazer treatments and takes most of the rest of the day to get his vision back. sometimes i just tell him to catch a bus to the hospital and then wait it out before catching one back home and don't get upset with me since all those years ago he was telling me and everyone else to get f@ck'd! so what im trying to say is live your life as you want, but be thoughtful of the future and your family and don't be upset or angry with family and friends if they suddenly just give up. anyway, enough of that. tonight i made some lentil soup with chopped onions, tomatoes, garlic, carrots, some olive oil, heaped table spoon of tomato paste and acouple of bayleafs. the best way to clean the lentils is to boil them twice. that is leave them in a pot with water over heat and just as the water is about to boil, take them off the stove and strain and rinse them. this will get all the chemicals out as well. then back in the pot with fresh water, back on the stove and add the rest of the ingredients on a low to medium heat, simmer for about 45minutes., giving acouple of stirs inbetween. -
get in contact with lostunit, i'm pretty sure he had completed a kit awhile ago, looked amazing. he posted some pics on here somewhere, if he still has it, might be able to take some rear headshots for you.

when i look at guyver3, i see something thats designed for up close combat. besides the gillette blades where if the first doesn't cut you, the second one will, his helmet is designed to deter any physical assult with spikes around his chin and jaw and on his scalp. to me, it makes sense that if he does have these red orbs that they'd be protected instead of being out in the open, vulnerable. i've noticed in the manga that at times the illustrations show a shadow between the layers of his head spike and more so in the animes, which suggests to me a gap/vent between them. if the layers were sealed against each other, then there wouldn't be a shadow cast between them? a small vent/gap is all that would be needed if these are to collect/absorb or sense anything. yep, these probably are just sensors that detect and analyze atmosphere/gas/heat and liquid vapour as i can't think of how the silver orbs would detect these. i say this because obviously the silver orbs look solid where the little red orbs look more of a soft membrane/gel lense to me.like an eyeball

yep, your absolutely right. and i hope takaya will surprise us....soon. theres a whole list of items that these might be used for, including just decoration, and its fun to be able to discuss and debate the ideas. until takaya sensei actually shows us, and we'll all be......'oooohhhhhh, so that's what they're used for,.... why did it take this long!' hahaha. i'm just putting out an idea with a few theories with an explanation on how i think they may work. basically hinting that they're similar to the workings of the megasmasher, only being a miniture version of a particule accellerator. ok, another theory is teleportation, how would it work?- by folding space,maybe,-how does it do that? have we seen in the manga any of the hosts teleport anywhere while equiped with the unit, no! have we seen the headbeam being used? f@ck'n shitloads (i'm laughing while i'm typing this)val steals the unit, megablasts out of cronos then goes to the airport and catches a flight LOL. why not just teleport? don't get me wrong, i'm all for teleportation. i'm just saying, cmon already, we're near the end of volume31! its frustating not knowing and need something to fill that void.
-
sorry yuki, i didn't mean to type it that way,but you did say that the lack of guyver3 wasn't addressed. just trying to quote something younguyver has suggested, i guess that everyone would have speculated this at some point in time. yes, they are covered but not totally sealed off, so they would be collecting/absorbing heated/charged particules/molecules from the air. and as you've suggested electromagnetic. although, i'm more leaning towards the collection/absorbtion of atmospheric particules/molecules than infrared or light cause how would they be able to shoot the headbeam at night or in a dark room? its all just best guess isn't it? and to tell you the truth yuki, your earlier idea was what pushed me further into realizing this
-
as youngguyver said yuki, that guyver3 would also have these red orbs but are covered by the heavy armour on his spike. (by the way, i think this is the most i've ever used microsoft paint )
-
yes larz, i know what you meant, but when something is larger, the more detail is visible. the headbeams would have the same internals, only size difference which would be proportionate.
-
now the reason i say that the red orbs are used in combination with the head beams is due to when i first saw gigantic and its head configuration and compared it to guyvers'. i'll try to show how i think their connected in this illus. ok,so, the two red orbs on guyvers head combined would roughly have the same suface area as one of the larger orbs on gigantics head. and i roughly estimate that one of the smaller red orbs on gigantics head is about 2thirds the size of one of the larger red orbs, so the two smaller ones combined would be approx. over 1and ahalf times larger than 1 large red orb.
-
his head beam is bigger compared to guyvers, even the two green extra headbeams on either side look slightly bigger than the guyvers. (this is the best side by side comparison for size i could find at short notice) here's an original one i found to compare the size of the headbeams
-
What I meant to say was that whilst sho, agito and now val have the guyver unit equiped that they have not been able to teleport themselves anywhere. Yep, I understand what your saying, that the red orbs are also a antenna transceiver/receivers for when the host calls for the unit when its laying dormant inthe boost dimension. Also act as a locator to find it's host.
