Guyver manga observations - chapters 29-34 (volume 5)
daveblackeye152 replied to Aether's topic in Guyver
I'm kind of weird about Sho losing the ability to transform. On the one hand I'm glad he didn't lose it for very long and regained it at a great moment. Other hand: something about it feels kind of, well, experimental and trite even though it makes sense. I don't know, feels like a very 'early manga' stage to put in and maybe it is just because no one has referenced it for ages now even though there is no reason to. Yeah I am weird about it and I'm not exactly complaining about it. On the plus side Aptom really takes stage and becomes a part of the cast, well maybe not exactly but he's a lot more lethal now and not just a one shot character. Now that I've learned that Guyver is a roughly bi-monthly work, kinda, I try to think of how long absences go on. Like readers were left wondering for nearly a year about the fate of Guyver III and everyone else I realized. I should have brought this up in the last topic but I kind of also dislike how Murakami gets two fights in the last book then doesn't really get any action again until the eighth book. Not exactly a weakness of this book of course. I just sort of wish they weren't lumped together or could have somehow gotten another fight somewhere but it would have broken the 'four is death' vibe of his transformations. Hm how often has Imakarum transformed now? Once in 10, again at the end of book 11, third time for a brief bit in 18 I think...uh-oh. -
I figure that alien technology is probably pretty strong and could survive such a fall. My money is that is his ace in the hole.

I hope I'm trusted.

Guyver manga observations - chapters 21-28 (volume 4)
daveblackeye152 replied to Aether's topic in Guyver
One minor thing has bothered me about book 4. It's just that it seems like no one else can go Zoalord + Guyver= super god. So because of that I've assumed Murakami's warning that the professor figured that out as saying 'yes this is totally possible, reader.' I mean problem is: why can't anyone figure that out and second: was he really so sure that it would work with scientific evidence? A part of me suspects that after a huge battle Guyot will finally bond with a Guyver only for it to kill him in the process as some kind of final fail safe. Possibly anti-climatic without that battle but I do wonder if we were all mislead or not. -

I wish we saw Murakami's shield-cutter trick again but I guess that one has been forgetten/retconned. -

Oh okay I guess I see where you're coming from. -

Alright I think I see where you're coming from but if the gland is in the torso it still secretes from the claws, pincers and mouth? So I'd think the blood would still have to travel from its chest/stomach through its arms and into its hands. I know we sometimes have to take certain things from the anime with a grain of salt and sometimes they are actual expansions but Agito lost his blades in episode 11. -
G1' dragon punch? Are you thinking of Gigantic Dark trying to Gravity Punch Sho but he used a small worm hole to block it? Also a pretty good first clue to Sho-Aptom was that its 'vibration blades' match the blades sticking out of Aptom's legs.

Also kind of wish Thancrus got to cut something proper I mean he grazed Sho a bit and he cut some trees but that's it. At least in the anime, his two minute appearance gave Sho a nasty cut on his stomach. -

I'm pretty sure the 'haunted village' was nameless in the manga. I always had the impression that Takaya was going to have Guyvers and Team Five class more often when he changed his mind and had them conflict with Aptom more. Has he ever said if he planned on Aptom being such a big player from the start? Believe it or not I got a huge sense of closure concerning Thancrus when back when Chaung Yi published book 10 Zextole says 'I'll avenge Thancrus as well!' to Agito since I got the impression he was forgotten. Oh and at long last it has been confirmed Aptom has high frequency blades too. I remember Ryuki and I debated whether Evil Aptom Frequency Spear could be harnessed into swords or not, thanks book 29. Anyway that last thought came from being sad Aptom didn't have swords from Thancrus though considering all the guys he lost too after X-day I guess they wouldn't have helped much. There is one little mistake that kind of bothers me: when Guyver I cut off Enzyme's arm his own arm wasn't wounded and it is established in the fourth book that Enzyme II's also have the corrosion agent in their blood as seen when Agito punches one in the gut. Boy oh boy Shizu started off creepy, certainly a 180 from the lovely Shizu we saw a few chapters ago. -

No. Showa is a time period, the reign of a certain Emperor. I learned about this because I'm a huge Godzilla fan. Showa Godzilla films covered from 1954-1984. Heisei was the next emperor so movies made during that time, plus Godzilla 1984 being a reboot, are the Heisei time line. In other words it is kind of vague and is kinda like in 1928-1989 roughly I think. -
Hm I think 'knave' is an appropriate word for Shin to use and I like Aptom calling Sho naive.
-
The first Zoanoid Sho killed during the finale looked like a Zerebuth knock off.
-
I too hope Guyver-Apotm gets a colored picture or at least a data file. I'd like to think Sho and Shin can get along well enough. Hopefully on the grounds of 'thanks for not letting Cloud Gate and more of Tokyo being destroyed.'
-
Also great whe Sho goes on the offensive.
-
Well let's think a moment what advantages and disadvantages Guyver-Aptom could have. +: Cloaking and a shield. Weapons that can still be used: vibration blade since Aptom has it and Aptom's particle cannon can make up for the Mega smasher. -: Pressure cannon and head beam and probably sonics too can't be used and no mega smasher. I dunno might be a nifty quicker trick but I suspect this was a one timer.
-
Except for the barrier he created for protection against the energy blast.
-
Oh I hope there's a data file for Guyver-Aptom!
-
I wonder about that shield Guyver-Aptom made, maybe Aptom doing that semi-barrier again like he did in book 12?
-
I actually thought the thing was perhaps a Guyver Mark II that Apollyon brought with him or maybe Apollyon had evolved and powered himself up with the Zoacrystals. I want a figure of Guyver-Aptom.
-
Oh sweet! I forgot about this. Ah...hah ha hah was my second reaction. First was: oh my god! Okay that was very interesting.
-
are your guyver dreams better than 'real' guyver?
daveblackeye152 replied to Jess♥'s topic in Guyver
Oh let's see I had one a few days ago...Very very vague though. Something happened to Agito and he is attacked by someone randomly somehow, I know there was more setting that up. Then I remember Aptom was scaling up Cloud Gate or Washington tower and then was attacked from behind by Gigant Guyver II, as in Valcuria, and for some reason she had a lot of spikes on her shoulders. -
Very neat project but as awful as seven way I think episode 10 was the worst. Which is funny since the animation and style improved a whole lot for the final two episodes.
-
No I'm pretty sure it is OVA episode 7. Must be just after the action is over since Testuro only came out during the fight.

I hear that Guyver is still supposed to be in the 80s/90s so its something of an alternate universe. I guess we can chalk up the laptops Chronos has as them just being super ahead of the times, which they are with all their alien techonlogy and transformations. But what about the laptop Sho has? I gues they could have swiped it but I'd be surprised if there wasn't a self destruct mechanism in Chronos technology so others couldn't us it. Like the Judges' guns in Judge Dredd.
