Energy Amps On GG (and XD)
I think this could be a case of oversight. maybe i'm wrong or maybe i'm right. but one thing I have been noticing with the manga and the way crystals are rendered, most of the crystals hint at an inner structure. I most happily noticed it recently with aptom's eyes and that prompted me to make my ultra detailed wallpaper of him. it was his eyes. but then, looking at other crystal structures reveals a hint of inner structures of the same type. it appears that all these crystals or most of them, have an inner core and a surrounding clear 'gem'. here is the first example i could find that shows it clearly. - http://www.japan-legend.com/guyver_advocacy/28_-_Gigantomakhia/177/8 I don't think this is a case of gravity controller, but in guyver there is a certain ambiguity in the methods it uses to siphon energy from the boost dimension. I don't believe it is set in stone that a gravity controller is required to draw energy through. or rather.... are we certain that it does siphon off energy, or is that an assumption on our part? I can't quite remember. also, I want to mention that there is 'power amp' and 'energy amp'. I haven't checked the terms myself so I don't know if it is a clear difference in terms or if it is merely a idiosyncracy of the person who translated either terms. I'm not sure if the same person translated either term so it's a bit of a muddy pool of water. any case, I have been under the impression that the power amps in the normal guyver are not the same as the energy amps in guyver gigantic. this is further emphasised by the reference to the GG energy amps in the VDF and the comparison between them and the Ark. I don't know about the 14X energy you mentioned, but I will point out that in the normal guyver, there appears to be a power amp in the same location as each energy amp in GG. so I am unsure if 14x can be used. I would surmise that the GG has much more improved version of a similar concept. but the degree to which it is improved could not be gauged without any direct comparison of the two types of orb by takaya-sensei. edit: just checked the VDF and see that it says the gravity controller 'administers' the 'energy extraction' from the void space. does that mean it directly siphons the energy, or just controls the process? (it is called 'controller') not sure, but I would say yes. so i see your reasons for suggesting there may be one in the energy amps. maybe you are on to something? although.... no I would say that is not the case. the reason I say that is by looking at the Ark. it seems to require charging from the sun? if these energy amps could siphon energy from the void space, then it would not need to charge in that way. do you agree?

Guyver manga observations - chapter 7
wasn't it mentioned somewhere that takaya sensei regretted that chapter and tried to retcon it somewhat? obviously it can't be completely omitted, but it seems to have been a freak occurrence. my thoughts on that are that it could be due to the enzyme. or it could be due to the amount of core host material. or it could be due to the presence of a power amp in the forearm. the cross section of the guyver in the VDF shows power amps in the locations where guyver bulges. the power amp could provide a source of temporary sustenance for the bb-organism. the amount of core host material could have been used to build upon and create a full body. the enzyme was derived from the guyvers own armour disassembly process. as part of the guyvers own systems, the removal of that limb by the enzyme that the guyver was designed to use, could give an indication to the systems in that arm that they were to continue operating in some fashion. maybe the guyver armour is designed to disintegrate when separated from the CM for a set amount of time. as we saw with the portion of gigantic darks shoulder that got separated. that was sliced off and no power amp present to keep it 'alive'. but the arm was removed using the guyver's own enzyme. it may have gotten the impression that the CM had decided to remove the arm for some reason. a combination of these reasons, could have led to what happened. furthermore, the way it happened could have been by design. agito commanded his severed leg to return to him. the arm was no commanded to return. perhaps the way the arm formed into a clone of shou and seek out the original, was a homing system. to use infiltration techniques to seek out the original and merge with it. maybe it wasn't an aberration. maybe it was an advanced emergency recovery routine.

Guyver manga observations - chapter 7
if I could see the japanese writing of those pages, I could translate some bits to clear it up. I am missing volumes 2 through 22 and 24. I do have a scan of it, but the writing is too small.

it appears to be more difficult to find a job in Japan, and there is the potential to find an agent in china who will pay for my plane ticket and accommodation before I go there. I hadn't considered working in China seriously in the past. I have not had a great interest in it, but somebody mentioned it to me. The job market here at the moment is bad as I am sure it is in the US as well. I'd like to get some work and I also want to get out of western countries. too much focus on the seasons. fed up of seeing adverts and marketing and shops selling all sorts of stuff relating to halloween and xmas etc. I started thinking about it and then while listening to some music the other day I got inspired by the thought of the landscape of china. Apparently the demand for english teachers in China is huge so there are plenty of jobs available. obviously one has to be careful not to fall for a scam. I can do plenty of research there though. I don't need a huge salary or a long period of employment. but I do have a bachelors degree so I can actually negotiate a decent rate. If I can make a good decision, and I decide to go for it, I may even be able to go in a matter of months or even weeks.

recently, I have been strongly considering looking for a job teaching English in China. I understand that there is a big demand and I am certain it is possible to arrange a contract where airfare is provided in advance. also, if i can prepare something to be in a condition fit for sale, I can sell it for a fair bit that will enable me to travel to the chinese embassy and get a visa. whilst I have been very focused on going to Japan and would go to great lengths to do so, considering going to china is very different. I am not so familiar with China.

The torrent... It's ALI-IIVE!!!
i don't think three question marks are constructive. they don't prompt any further discussion or give any basis for further explanation if something isn't clear. also, maybe a little like spam? I know you're better than that dude

The torrent... It's ALI-IIVE!!!
because on that site, a torrent needs to be approved by their admin. to weed out torrents that are a load of rubbish and to save wasting people's time.

larz, a good question. why didn't he track shou to the mansion. I'm actually quite stumped there. it's almost as though he can't get within range of shou for whatever reason. maybe shou could detect him? maybe he is really scared of shou? after kahn died, it seems that zoacrystal travelled a fair way to arrive at his hand. also, apollon didn't arrive at the mansion until shou was away. he seems to really keep his distance in all situations.

Red Dwarf X
yeah, it would have to be a different quality. comedy has evolved. but the general premise can fit with todays world. the basic premise was something about 4 guys insulting each other and having a laugh. this is typical british male comradery. the boys from the dwarf are just like workmates. or indeed schoolmates. I look at them and it makes me think of when i used to work in GAME and we played all sorts of pranks on each other. (like the time my mate hid in the dumb waiter style lift and scared the life out of the stock processor) I'm not sure what this is like in other countries, but this still exists in the uk. that premise still works perfectly and their age also doesn't affect that.

Gosei Sentai Dairanger review - an oldy but a goody!
heh heh, well if you do catch up with gobusters now, then you can join in the current discussion about it. it's a shame you can't get ahold of abranger. I've only ever watched it on a HKsub. it would be nice to watch a decent sub of it.

Gosei Sentai Dairanger review - an oldy but a goody!
wow, that is a great recommendation, I'll definitely get it now. so you've seen hurricanger and it's up there with that? well since hurricanger was my favourite, then i must have to see dairanger. btw, you should not skip abaranger. it was quality. number 2 after hurricanger and only to be beaten this year by gobusters. I know exactly what you mean about their 'zone'. that is precisely the reason why i skipped most of them. the whole genre seemed to be stagnant after abaranger. so when you say dairanger has it's own feel to it, then it must be a stand-out series like hurri, aba and gobus.

Tokumei Sentai GoBusters
I agree. I love Ryuji's 'weakness'. the first time it happened, reminded me of hurricangers and why i originally started watching super sentai. (the two brothers, how they respond to each other and the other characters.) what I really love to see in super sentai is attitude. another reason why i love Enter, after having seen him in the recent episode, fighting ryuji in the lab. that was cool. I like to see a baddie that is a human or near enough to a human who can be as bad ass and as skilled as the protagonists. I haven't seen the latest episode yet, but I'll keep my eye out for it and watch it as soon as I get it.

Gosei Sentai Dairanger review - an oldy but a goody!
could you remind us which super sentai you've seen besides this one? your review is encouraging and makes this sound like an attractive series. I haven't considered watching this before, but perhaps i'll put it on my list of 'maybe watch some day when i can bear to watch old stuff'.

Red Dwarf X
perhaps the cats are like doctors? or businessmen? you know, really well preened yet really successful, not really really stupid with merely an interest in how they look. you're right about kochanski. she was too normal. she had this 'superiority' about her that just made her unlike-able. I can't believe you don't like doctor who though, maybe we can talk about it in its own thread. I'd love to know on what levels you feel that it fails. i'm sure there is already a thread for it somewhere.

Red Dwarf X
what a liberty, I typed it into google to try and get the right spelling. that's what it gave me. I mean Kochanski. I can't stand that character. in my view, she was a poor substitute for Rimmer. and she was also a distraction from the male hijinx and comradery.

Guyver manga observations - chapter 6
doing a little search, I found:- 'the creation' å¤©åœ°å‰µé€ tenchisouzou. 'creator' å‰µé€ ä¸» souzoushu 'creator' å‰µé€ è€… souzousha 'builder' é€ ã‚Šæ‰‹ tsukurite and more there are lots of ways of saying creator so yep to be honest, I'd never really thought about it this much until now. I just translated it (after durendal?) and thought "oh that is that term that was used before and i didn't really 'get' it ". just now after looking up the definition of the word 'advent' I finally understand it. it doesn't seem such an odd name now.
-
Red Dwarf X
I found out about this thanks to lordspleach via facebook. I didn't realise it hadn't been mentioned here! have you seen the teaser trailer? from what has been shown, it looks like it may be classic boys from the dwarf. none of that crap like Katchinsky, or being put in prison. I want to see ropey special effects too. I hope they have some of those. and it's filmed in front of a studio audience, like it should be!

Riv's random self
could it be that one of the letter is an extended vowel? because josou, sometimes might be written joso and that might mean something like "girl-like", meaning effeminate men? he he, not my cup of tea, but I know someone who'd probably love it.

Guyver manga observations - chapter 6
the term is kourinsha "é™è‡¨è€…" at a stretch you could say that is creators, but it is stretching too much IMO. sha means 'someone of that nature'. kourin means 'advent' or 'descent'. the most literal would be either the 'descended ones' or the 'advents'. we have had advents in past translations. can't remember where, it was some english publication. with some work, you might be able to make that mean 'creators'.... but more sensible ways to re-word it would IMO yield something more along the lines of 'visitors' since advent means 'coming'.
