What live-action series are you watching or have you watched?
Jess♥ replied to Toku Warrior's topic in Japanese Entertainment
i remember ... was it 'love generation' or something? oh , she is a very good actress. never made the link. I even watched a clip of densha otoko the other day and she was in it... and i never even made the connection. weird. well, I didn't really recognise any of the actors in this series. I probably have seen a couple of them before. I just can't remember clearly. oh but in otomen, is seto kouji. he has been in a lot of things. -

I do not think either is wrong or correct. do animals have a soul? the same as a human soul? yes and no. there is energy in everything. the way i see it, the energy pattern is what determines the nature of something. so the soul is as different as the physical appearance. the qualities are different. like, I believe the awareness of things like grasshoppers, is shared between the entire species. and there are also energy patterns that weave throughout nature and form a different kind of consciousness. it s not the kind of thing we can completely relate to, but it exists nonetheless. this is why evolution appears to be intelligent. and it is how an ant colony can so efficiently build amazing structures.

Kamen Rider OOO spoiler/update thread

tvn is actually more respectful. I was actually quite offended by OOOtime's sub of gokaiger. i don't watch theirs anymore, i'd rather wait for TVN. -
This is interesting because it mirrors the self centred nature of our race. we assume that life is the only worthwhile thing. what brings us to the conclusion that is something is not alive, it is worthless? what is so worthless about a dead piece of space dust? can't a dead piece of space dust be just as worthy of marvel and wonder? as we are not a god, we do not have any experience of what is important to a god and for all we know the way a piece of dust moves and floats is just as interesting as how we behave on a day to day basis. also, who is to say that a dead piece of space dust does not have soul? since we do not have any real way of describing or detecting a soul, then how can we really say otherwise? personally, I don't see a soul as the sum of my personality. a vast percentage of my personality is determined by my life experience and the things my brain has learned. when it comes to deciding which parts of me can be considered as my soul, I find it difficult to quantify. but my feeling is that it is the thing that decides how my thoughts and experiences are used. it is the manner in which i make decisions. it is the manner in which i make those decisions that are thought of as irrational. not based on weighing up alternatives and making a logical choice.

those are some pretty impressive pics! those putotyra images are very nnice quality. i find it cool how this image for ankh, it has half his head missing and his other arm missing. it's clearer that he has somehow been split into two separate entities. that has to be something to do with OOO itself. -
there are other reasons too. such as, I started to analyse it and see all the pop culture references and realised it wasn't as original as i had thought. also, dyslexia makes reading undesirable anyway. I am reading a book at the moment anyway. it's called sword of shannara, I'm not sure when i started reading it, maybe a year ago or more. I'm at page 20. hmm, maybe i'd get through it better if i had a commute or something.

you know when you eat crappy food. let's say you eat a chicken chow mein and it makes you throw up. if you go to a top class restaurant, you probably don't want the chicken chow mein.

i read eragon, liked it. waited for the second book to come out. started to forget the story. some time later heard about the film. heard that jeremy irons was in it and knew it would be terrible. in time i watched it and confirmed it was terrible. considered the second book and just had absolutely no desire to read it. now i despise the whole franchise. the moral here is that when somebody says "no such thing as bad publicity" they are dead wrong. that film destroyed all credibility of that story.

being a zoalord, archanfel would be human. after all that is what the creators intended. they wanted humans to be their weapons. zoalords are made from humans just like zoanoids. so a zoalord is as aggressive as any human, no more, no less. archanfel does seem calm most of the time, but so does shou. there is no difference. humans have a fighting instinct. this is what the creators wanted. that does not mean they were aggressive. we breed fighting dogs to tear each other apart at a moments notice. but that doesn't mean we would tear each other apart at moments notice. in the past we had these dogs fight for entertainment. our own instincts do not allow us to be so aggressive, although we do get aggression towards that level, we can't override our instincts. we are not quite that aggressive. it makes perfect sense that the creators were very logical. they wanted their opponents out of the way but when confronted with the idea of doing the dirty work, they felt nauseated or something like that.

thanks for posting guys. that form looks sweet! I wonder how it'll come about, It'll certainly be a lot of fun edit: hold on a sec... well i don't read all the info that is released but i noticed something, his weapon.. medagaburyuu? well it looks like if you swap two kana around you get megadaburyuu, or mega-W. could this all be related to kamen rider W? -
awesome I'm really glad it worked! since you mentioned about a change in the family, I thought i would mention that cats are substantially effected by change. if there are major changes in the house, you can expect the cats to start 'misbehaving'. when the bathroom was redecorated, our cat took to using the bath as a toilet. in these situations, it is best to isolate the change and make sure the cat can't get around it unsupervised. we started tightly locking the bathroom door and after a couple of weeks, she didn't go in there any more.

ah.. he he... well I call it a monitor because it shows my pc at an accurate resolution but technically it's a tv because it has a tuner installed.

heh heh, yeah j-drama is the best. remember I mentioned Otomen? if you haven't given it a look yet, I recommend it. it is really good series. it's got special moments and comedy, a bit of fighting here and there, nothing anywhere near close to tokusatsu but the main character does kendo so it is part of his life. I really love the way they show some certain skills with such care and attention. especially the cooking parts. i love cooking. -
alas it is not that simple. I only have a set amount of electrical plug sockets. A lan switch takes power. The router is already at capcity connected to all computers in the family. Then the 360 uses component cables and my pc connects via hdmi. My monitor is not exceptional ant takes time to switch av input. I'd like to get a dedicated pc monitor. Might be able to soon. Also, in the future, i could get a new model 360 with wireless adapter built in.

I sold my xbox 360 today. i have grown tired of it sitting behind my tv untouched. don't get me wrong, there are some good games on the system. i had a few games that I wanted to play but i just never got round to it. it's just too much hassle getting the remote to switch channels on my tv and unplugging and plugging things in, fiddling with network wires, being essentially disconnected from my pc and the net. each time i switch from my pc to my xbox i feel like i'm, walking into a padded cell. shame. oh well. now i have a nintendo DS. I bought legend of zelda and the phantom hour glass and i bought cooking guide. played a fair bit of each today and really enjoyed it.

really? i don't know how a cat can turn it's head that far? sometimes i wait for a moment when i know the cat wants to get away, so I can exert dominance by preventing the cat from getting away. gnawing.. if you push from the cats shoulders and pin it to the ground, I am sure it can't turn its head that far. well i hope you figure it out
-
Eether FTW!! I love this. very cool.
-
do you exert dominance? the best way to do that is to pin the cat to the ground and keep it pinned there until they give up and relax. do it as part of play, no need to hurt them, just stroke them as you normally would, push them around, knock them over etc. that way, they see you as their superior and if they smell your scent on something they will be less likely to play with it/destroy it. my cat never touches anything of mine unless i place it in front of her nose.
-
I can understand the frustration of having to deal with cats. my cat really pissed me off today. she just opened my door and then walked away. didn't come in, or even look at me. it's not a big deal if i didn't have to climb over a chair and a bed to get to the door. ways to deal with cats... cat's don't associate your behaviour with anything they have done. so don't consider that shouting or hitting will teach them not to do something. they'll just think you're being an ass. (when i yell at my cat or if i slap her nose, it's for my benefit alone really) instead you have to have immediate feedback related to the thing you don't want them to do. if they pee on the rug, arrange a situation where they experience something unpleasant if they go on the rug. a sheet of tinfoil should help. leave it on there for a long while, maybe a couple of weeks. after that, they should be sufficiently dissuaded and will avoid the rug. your computer microphone... I'm not sure how you can foresee things like this, but if you put lemon juice on things, the cat will be repelled.

it is something that is beyond most people to understand or comprehend. I'm not sure if i fully understand it... but mostly your friend was correct. most of our make-up is simply synapses firing and electricity etc. this thing we call our body is a marvellously complex machine. this machine is driven mostly by instinct just like many animals and as a machine, when it stop, it just stops. but there is something in this machine. something that is watching as these instincts play out. and this thing that is watching is also pulling strings and using this machine like a puppet. this thing is ever knowing, ever present, is eternal and perfect. but when using the puppet has shut out the eternal knowledge in order to gain a fresh perspective. this method of shutting out the eternal gives this piece a designation. a name. but none of us know our name, we just know we are us and we are not everyone else. this separation gives us an identity. it's not very scientific though is it. let us look at it from quantum theory. quantum theory states that an unobserved particle can be in any state. when it is observed, it becomes a set way. what is it that observes the universe? if we are IN the universe then something must be observing us. otherwise we would be everything and anything. we would be a mess of everything and nothing. and of course each of us has this experience of watching. observing. we do it within ourselves. it's not very easy to measure though so we can't really stick a science label on it yet.

I understand, yeah i think what you say is mostly likely the best translation for it. I can't remember exactly what i read but perhaps it is just them being lazy. I do so hate it when people take liberties.
