July 17, 20169 yr I can't seem to find an episode where Murakami explains to everyone how come he's a Zoalord. I'm sure I recall him telling about the other prototypes, and I'm sure it was't in the OVA. Anyone?
July 17, 20169 yr 2005 anime, episode 14: Escape in the Rain. That's where he explains how he came to be a Proto-Zoalord.
July 17, 20169 yr I wish the manga had a scene where he bonds with Mizuki, telling her he was always a senstive cry-baby. That's where I love the anime over the OVA: the enormous humanizing aspect.

I remember that level of character development being advertised quite a lot as the series was airing as a selling point, along with the closeness to the manga of course. I didn't realise that the scene with Mizuki wasn't in the manga. Do you mean the bit where Murakami is lying in the hospital bed with Odagiri in the room?
July 17, 20169 yr It's only a dream, but a full back story of the Arizona incident would be great to watch/read.

Oh no, Mizuki overing hearing the two talking about Murakami's short lifespan is in the manga and show. Sadly the above scene is only in the anime. That's what I really like about the anime is that Sho has a slightly stronger character why still being very much 'hey can't I just have some peace?' without coming off as a decoy protagonist.
July 18, 20169 yr I have to say the 2005 series did improve a lot of the issues in opening arc of the manga in my opinion. Look back on it the first volume of the manga feels really rushed, I guess that was done to get passed the "super powered high-schooler fights monster of the week" looking stuff as fast as possible. Guyver II is the biggest waste of all. After three retelling it seems that the story arc was finial perfected. Edited July 18, 20169 yr by Prometheus Guyver

Yeah, essentially it was a run of the mill "Boy fights monsters in power suit" story, and early on it really on seemed to have enough plot to move to the next fight. Thankfully the popularity kicked in, and he sort of started to fix it pretty quickly, but the earliest of stuff was always very bland and rushed. That truly was the thing that the 2005 series provided ( that and more Guyver 2! Again, rushed in and out of the original story)
July 19, 20169 yr Author You know what I like best in the 2005 show? The HZT5. Time and again, the episodes I return to are the ones where they're investigating and so on. I'm a big fan of procedural detective shows, and seeing them examining the scene of Aptom's fight with Sho never gets old for me. Conversely, the fight itself was a disappointment. I can do without Aptom sexually assaulting Mizuki as in the OVA, especially as he's building up to his eventual face turn and heroic redemption, but the 'camera work' when Sho finally regains the Guyver and when he counters Aptom's blast were perfect in the OVA. July 19, 20169 yr That part was super rapey to me lol. I know he was supposed to be menacing and all, but a naked guy is just kind of weird. I would be totally thrown off in a fight with a naked man. All he does is bait Sho into fighting him. And poor Sho learns he killed his dad from Aptom, probably not how he wanted to hear that, especially from Aptom of all people. I actually loved the 2005 series. I really wish they had decided to extend it a lot further past what happened at Relic's point. It makes that comment about the series being underrated almost true. Though only 26 episodes, it should have been longer, for sure!
