Final Fantasy VII Remake Trailer.

Featured Replies

I'm not kidding you. I'm really not. I was surprised as well. This is something for me to really look forward to. Its finally going to happen. When I first saw this I was skeptical and was thinking "is this for real?" because there was so many hoaxes. I think we're getting our wish and Square really does listen to their fans after all. :D

More like a teaser than anything.

But really, this just shows that Square-Enix is out of ideas when it comes to new Final Fantasy's.

Granted, I haven't completed a Final Fantasy since 8, and haven't really liked one since 6... Not including the fun I had with 14.

At the very least, it looks like they are not changing the character and upgraded designs that they used for Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus, thus keeping them consistent.

I wonder if they're going to keep the battle system the same. I'm sure they will either add to the story or spice it up a little more.

This looks great so far.  This better not be the same game and graphics with the insert of new CGI.  I would be pissed if that were to happen.  Got knows how many FF7 remake was already out there (which is actually just a port).  The proper remake would be using the technology and graphics from the latest FF and applying the story and/or system to that of FF7.

I think considering how much the emphasize "REMAKE" in the trailer, chances are it's going to be a top to bottom remake, at least graphically.

I only hope they don't change the gameplay at all.

*Edit*

Confirmed that it isn't just a graphics upscale. And there WILL be differences.

basically a new version of the original concept.

A new game.

So, does this mean we get the chance to revive Aerith now?

I highly doubt it.

I don't think they would change a major plot point, and ruin any continuity with their related merchandise. Smaller stuff may get changed, or things may get more elaborated on. Dialogue will most likely be entirely updated.

I'm personally hoping for a bit more involvement of Yuffie and Vincent, and making them mandatory characters now, and not just side characters.

Yuffie and Vincent didn't really seem to have any major dialogue or interaction in the regular game. But they do make the world of a difference if you get them in your party.  :whoo:

Well, Vincent does have a major involvement with Hojo, perhaps they could expound on (or modify) this to connect him stronger to Sephiroth.

Do in buy a PS4 or assume Xbox will get it? I haven't gone next gen yet but I will for this game!
Well considering there is no actual release date, we're probably looking at least a 2017 release.

But officially? If it will be, I bet Sony has an embargo on promoting it, much like they did with Destiny. It could very well be slated for the One (especially since the PS4 and XB1 are a lot closer in terms of how games are made), but we won't know until there is a website and release date for it.

The most important part from the interviews I've read is, the only thing they have not said, is come out and say "PS4 Exclusive". They seem to be dancing around the answer to that question.

So it looks like the game-play will be Kingdom Hearts/Crisis Core-esque. That's good,

BUT

they are apparently splitting the game up into multiple parts. They said it's to flesh out the game more, and I hope it is more like the Starcraft 2 Trilogy in that regard.

  • 2 weeks later...

You know, the basic Shinra infantry uniform kinda looks like a knock-off of the Chronos trooper outfit.

I'll have to wait and see how they handle the combat and "Multiple Episodes" thing... But I have to say, as much as I love the turn based battle system, iof this is anything like Kingdom hearts, I will enjoy the crap out of it.

Now, I am doubting that, ONLY because they will most likely use a combination of the old system, and the newer system from FFXV... At least that is what it kind of looks like to me. And I never got around to playing the FFXV demo, so I am not sure how it exactly plays... But it is very action oriented.

And square tends to do battle systems well, so I have little doubts about that. It's the leveling system that sometimes is garbage.

As for the episodic part... The one BIG upside I can see, is that if we already have a gameplay trailer... We might see part 1 in 2017 for sure. Which I could see JUST being Midgar, especially if they expand content like they said they would be doing.

I was initially kind of disappointed... But Am starting to see the light.
