H222G981 Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 When I clicked on the video, it won't play because It says that the video is no longer available because of a copyright claim made by SCG Power Rangers LLC. Quote
LordSpleach Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 This fan film definitely threw me for a loop. Saban is hating this right now. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 it's amazing that they could get such high profile people to act in this. they must have put a lot of money, work and passion into this project. it seems a shame that Saban are trying to kill it. I can understand why... they make power rangers as a kids show and don't want the violence to be associated with it. still a shame though. I think this says a lot about freedom of expression and I think this is something we need to focus on. fan projects and creativity of that ilk shouldn't be stifled. 1 Quote
H222G981 Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Look what I found........ Gritty Power Rangers short pulled from YouTube, producer calls it 'infringement on freedom of expression' The dark and violent Power/Rangers short film watched by millions was pulled from YouTube yesterday in response to a copyright claim from a subsidiary of Saban, which owns the rights to Power Rangers. The short film, which was distributed for free and made without permission of Saban, was previously pulled from Vimeo. "To all the viewers that enjoyed this film, I consider this an outright infringement on freedom of expression and individualism," Power/Rangers producer Adi Shankar says in a statement responding to the latest takedown. Shankar notes that the video is still available to watch on Facebook. He personally thanks Mark Zuckerberg for that. http://www.theverge.com/2015/2/27/8120047/power-rangers-short-pulled-youtube-producer-responds Quote

H222G981 Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 (edited) No wonder why Saban was throwing a fit over it. It's better than his tacky work on children's television,LOL! Edited February 28, 2015 by Jupiter Knight Quote
*PrimalNemesis Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Good news! Saban has apparently relented and allowed the film to be reposted to Vimeo and Youtube! Catch it while you can! In my opinion I thought the film was fantastic! To me the film had a very valid point. What would really happen to a certain group of teenagers with attitude if they were thrown into an intergalactic war with little to no combat experience? Even with Ranger powers and a huge arsenal of highly advanced weaponry those kids are gonna be massive wrecks by the time they're adults! Sooner or later one of them is gonna crack! It was very interesting to see what would happen to Power Rangers if you injected it with a healthy dose of reality. Quote

*Jess♥ Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 question. what was the difference with the nsfw version? 1 Quote
durendal Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Uh... despite my loathing of the Saban Power Rangers, I kinda disagree with the fan film. If you notice, "Gritty" seems to be becoming a fad these days. I'm sure there are numerous people who see this fan film as how the movie should be done, but we are also forgetting the main audience of the franchise. The children. If you are a parent, would you want your children to watch a movie with a main protagonist cussing and acting violent? I wouldn't. I'm sure there is no harm in giving the franchise a pinch of "darkness", but this is just too much. And besides, for me, the core concept of the "Power Rangers" is not about the characters, but more of the robots. Since I didn't see any "Zords", this did not impress me. Quote
RazorLaser Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Didn't like the 'real guns' factor of it. Other than that, it was okay. Maybe a 6.5/10. 1 Quote
Mirabilis Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 Well, I don't really know the PR world all that much. I only saw the MMPR (which I loved back in the 90's) and some Lost Galaxy or whatever it was called. But I don't know if all the Power Rangers are apart of the same storyline, universe etc. I thought they were just like reboots of the old one. I really didn't understand the whole Empires at War, who was fighting against what? I didn't understand that. I thought it was all fan made but I guess not. I didn't like the real guns, was hoping to see more of the Rangers powers and weapons not the futuristic M60's. I also was hoping to see more zord action a bit of a let down but understandable. I thought the action was pretty good, liked the plot twist at the end, and all that other stuff. Seeing how being a Ranger and fighting evil, demons, monsters and witches affected them later in life. But like I said, I didn't really understand or get the whole Empires fighting each other. I was really lost with that. I just thought Lord Zedd, Rita and so on where the main villains and all the other series were basically reboots of that. New villains but were basically the same thing. I dunno anyways, thought it was very creative and well shot. Quote
H222G981 Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 question. what was the difference with the nsfw version? Its really violent and a bit on the bloody side. Most of the rangers in that fan film died violent deaths. The first Power Rangers were really watered down for kids to watch back than compared to the newer generation of Power Rangers and the show still received every bit of controversy for than for being a violent kids show. 1 Quote
