March 31, 201412 yr Same reasons on Earth? Would you care to elaborate? On Earth, large populations average out any mutations. On Mars, the population will be isolated. Any mutations that crop up have a higher potential for taking hold. The trick would be to ensure that those with favorable mutations breed more successfully than others. How to be 'humane' about it though... perhaps send the others back to Earth?

Any mutations that crop up have a higher potential for taking hold. The trick would be to ensure that those with favorable mutations breed more successfully than others. How to be 'humane' about it though... perhaps send the others back to Earth? Mostly because medicine, war, and overly large populations have slowed down evolution for the most part. With mars, the situation will be very similar once colonization starts since there will be a constant flow of that same DNA from earth preventing evolution, with medicine and a gradually large population wiping it out. Scientists have pointed out that humanity is no longer evolving, or simply evolving in such a tiny crawl that it will never take hold. Hence my reasoning. I was reading the manga transformers, they had an interesting concept of colonizing mars. Sending Algae and roaches to slowly terraform the planets air and surface.
April 26, 201411 yr I've never heard a reality show in the works...I think they're just semi-thinking too much aka not actually intelligent.
May 20, 201411 yr Could you leave your wife and children just to live out the rest of your life on mars? http://youtu.be/Pf9kl12bO-w
September 30, 201510 yr According to Nasa, they think there is life on Mars. http://www.cnn.com/2015/09/28/us/mars-nasa-announcement/
October 1, 201510 yr they should get the spaceman to look at it. that guy who was staying there. they can collect the bacteria and examine it.
October 10, 201510 yr This just makes me think of Warhammer 40k. Imagine the colony on Mars declaring independence. Then we'd have our first galactic war of Independence. Martians against Earthlings. haha. No but I feel like Earth would be seen as the "Holy Land" or something. The home world of humanity and because of that it would have a lot of religious ties to it, and people would make pilgrimages as well to see the world and land their ancestors came from. Even in the Gundam series they touched a bit on that matter.
