  • Wow! Coolness! So the extras are not just extras but actual real life soldiers! Cool! I'm afraid of getting too impressed about this film as it may raise my expectations too much and only leave me

  • I really liked the movie, and I am not a Cap fan, as attested by my avatar pic...

  • very nice trailer! nice to see a shot of the hulk, and thor is awesome as well. can't wait to see thor, the hulk and ironman in action!

ah... a shame it is suffering from hollywood colouritis.

why do so many people in hollywood have such a bad allergy to colours?

Your guess is as good as mine, Ryuki. Maybe the Hollywood guys figure that colors don't work as well in films as they do in comics, but that's just me.

Probably because superhero outfits that look pretty great on a page, look ridiculous on a movie screen.

that's not about colours though is it it's about detail. because the watchmen and x-men first class looked amazing and they didn't appear to be shy of colour. in fact captain america or ironman were also not shy of colour. or the green lantern. but sometimes they just seems to think that colour is no good for whatever reason.

the original x-men movies were a prime example of that.

and that airship for the avengers is a good example, I just feel that it looks really dull and boring.,

I think colors need to be applied in the right places. If you look down certain streets, the pavement is gray, the buildings are gray, the cars are dark blue or gray. Downtown Vancouver at night becomes an explosion of lights on the other hand, with brilliant pinks and blues and everything. The residential streets in spring have great green leaves, and for a week, the Sakura bloom. It all depends on when and where you are.

In film, it takes a master to paint it properly. If not done right, it can seem hokey and amateur night. Grays are safe, especially when the subject matter is supernatural, or along those lines. The Quinjet is gray, just like a regular airforce jet. Easy for the audience to buy, and won't rip you out of the moment

i guess, when taken in context, it can be more suitable.

if the film maker really doesn't want people to focus on the quinjet then grey is the best colour for it?

that would make a lot of sense.

just taken out of context and compared to the images google gave me, that is when it looks dull.

Dull or not, I'll reserve judgement until I see it come May. I don't care much for the production images, as long as they look cool when I actually see it in the movies. I'm actually very excited to see this movie and this is the one movie that I'm highly anticipating for this year.

yeah i love ironman and thor so I was looking forward to seeing this anyway. we have had suggestions for this movie all the way back in ironman 1.

I feel like that girl and the guy with the bow shouldn't be there.

Do you understand what I mean?

Then seem like hangers-on.

I don't read comics so I only have the films as reference, so this makes sense as a reason why I see it that way, but is it like this in the comics? do you think those other two should have also been given their own movie?

It's a very nice artwork :)

It has been like this, but if you really want to understand the Avengers, here is my recommendation: Find the nearest comic book store, pick up some Avengers back issues (or current ones) and start reading. It will help to get the basic gist of what the Avengers can be like.

In regards to Hawkeye and the Black Widow...I don't know whether they should have gotten their own films first (maybe, but don't quote me). They have been a major part of the Avengers mythos for years, so they are more than just "hangers-on."

I just find it funny.

A guy with super archery skills can do a better job at saving the world against invading aliens than say, the military sniper rifleman. Oh sure, the sniper can hit the target with a high velocity round round at pinpoint accuracy; Hawkeye can pump the same target with sharp pointy sticks.

Hawkeye and Black Widow can kick butt, but what is so super about them compared to the rest of the team? What do they have that no regular military has?

Hawkeye I have no comment. But for Black Widow, well, for one thing she has a hot body. That alone I would consider to be super. Besides, she has the skill of a deadly spy that would probably put James Bond to shame.

Should I also mention that, in the comics, both Hawkeye and Widow have served as leaders of the Avengers at various times?

so their special abilities are tactical and reconnaissance?

And a little espionage as well. Not to mention that, even though they are physically human, they are well trained enough to handle superhuman threats. And they've got plenty of street smarts to boot, which can really come in handy in certain situations.

Fun fact: There was an Avengers story where Earth's mightiest were battling the Elder known as the Grandmaster, who had seemingly gained control of death and sought to remake the universe. It was ultimately Hawkeye who beat the Grandmaster by tricking the him into losing a game of chance, thanks to a little sleight of hand on Hawkeye's part.

I am totally thinking about the green arrow right now.

I don't know much about comic books (shocking, I know) so I don't know if green arrow has a super power, but from watching Smallville, it doesn't appear that he does.

so these guys would be very similar.

Hawkeye has no super powers in the comics, but the Black Widow (in the comics) is about 70 years old. Like Nick Fury, she has been shot up with a serum that severely retards aging, and may now in fact be secreting the stuff herself.
