Aether Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 i agree some manga are very unclear in the action in them, ive never seen the naruto manga so can not judge... im planning on doing my own story at some stage and i want to make it as clear as possible whats going on,i suppose its easier said than done though. just wanted to say i really liked the 3rd movie but for some reason i cant put my finger on, it didnt seem quiiiiite as good as the last 2 to me, even if they were recycled formulae. i enjoyed the fact that it tied back into the series unlike the other 2 and that they used the main young crew for the mission so we got to see them in action... even gara. but as bad as the bad dude was he just didnt seem so - bad, and i dont mean because of the message of the film, but his oh so badass powers didnt really get used much. i guess i like naruto going toe to toe with the baddies too much and see the films as an exscuse for that... well i believe shippuuden movie 4's coming so we can see what thats like next year. im not sure but i think everyones ahead of me in the story now, (i daren't check above incase i get spoilers so i'll leave this thread a while...keep enjoying the show dattebayo! durendal Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 i decided that i like the anime of naruto so much that i would watch it even if i knew the story, so i have started reading the manga. so I'm not sure how i can use this thread now if people are not keeping up with the manga? well my views on manga versus anime. manga is confusing in many places. there are times when i look at a panel and trying to figure out exactly what it's supposed to be. times when the story is not very clear because the drawings are quite quick and aren't paced well. one scene can skip to another without any real indication. it's after reading this, i really appreciate the fine work that yoshiki takaya does on guyver. guyver is always very clear on what is going on. so while it's great to know the story and the manga is very good, the anime is far superior since it pads out the characters, fills in the movements in the fights and paces it very well. Well, I think the main difference between Mr. Takaya and Mr. Kishimoto is that Naruto is released weekly while Guyver is released monthly. The gap in between chapters might be a big factor as to the disparity of the two titles' quality. I would have surely appreciated the animated version, but I was so disgusted at how they animated the whole "Chasing Sasuke" arc prior to Shippuden that the same impression got stuck on me when I watched Shippuden. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted May 23, 2010 Author Posted May 23, 2010 in what way? do you mean that you thought it was badly animated? i mean literally. or was it something about pacing? I don't recall any issues with it. Quote
durendal Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 Well, I guess you could say that they were trying to prolong the series by a number of episodes whereas it should have ended for shorter. The heavy use of panning and pauses really destroyed the momentum and adrenaline of the story. I'm not talking about animation quality, but more on the storyboard quality. You could say that it was the pacing. I would have prefered that they made fillers than "dragonballized" the show. That was a point in the series where the anime was already catching up with the manga. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted May 24, 2010 Author Posted May 24, 2010 ah i understand. then they had those insanely long amount of spoilers. i can understand that. the beginning of shippuuden was like that. i think most of the pain was waiting for some progress and not getting much. having read the manga, I think that pain should be absent and we can simply enjoy the animation and characterisation. I watched episode 161 yesterday and really enjoyed it even though i actually knew what was gonna happen this time. actually, they added in extra. like i would have had no idea that konohamaru's friends were not in the manga. so i take that and i am happy for it. I like the music and i like the voice acting so i can't 'not' watch the anime. in fact I am considering re-watching the whole lot from episode 1. but of course i do understand the pain of episodes that drag on. *V Guyver Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Some fans... actually a good number of them have complained about the animation. I'm not an animation fanatic so i don't really care too much. But I can tell there was a fair drop in quality from the old series. However, the fight scenes animation is finally beginning to catch up to the old series fight scenes. A while back I used to mention how bad the animated form was compared to the manga. I have no problems following ithe manga like you Ryuki, I guess it's because I've been reading it from the start. Oh and Konohamaru's friends were in the original manga. Now the series has finnaly fixed it's pacing and some of the animation. I have to say it's now on the verge of surpassing the manga (In my tastes) but just not their yet. I think lately the manga too has started to get a little more rushed. I don't know what happened but there used to be a lot more detail put into the battles and training, some of it has been shortened from the looks of it. I guess he figures "The anime will fill in the gaps for me later." Meh... Quote
*Jess♥ Posted June 5, 2010 Author Posted June 5, 2010 that is kinda odd. I am perfectly happy with the animation in naruto. yet I am one with an animation degree. ironic eh? Quote
Toku Warrior Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 I never really watched all of Naruto nor Shippuuden either. I have the 1st 25 episodes of the first series and I also have episodes 76 up to 163 of Shippuuden. I also have both the 2nd and 3rd Shippuuden movies too. I prefer DB's subs over most others for this series. I actually just finished watching NS movie 3 and I thought it was really well done. Quote
*V Guyver Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 yes, it's probably the best one. They announced a new movie Naruto get's sucked back in time some 20 years, and now he gets to fight alongside his dad in that time period. A little weird concept for a movie plot. Quote
Toku Warrior Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Actually, I can see it working well. It would help motivate him further as he would be able to get to see the one person he never really got to meet. It would also be a chance to help give him new morals and a newer understanding as to why he was chosen as the Kitsune's vessel. As for myself, I just purchased NS season 1, box 1. Contains Eps.1-13. I'll be buying Season 1 box 2 later next week. This way I can still DL the newer episodes as they're subbed but still watch the older ones and officially support the franchise. Once the English DVD's catch up to the current releases then I'll be happy. Quote
*V Guyver Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Well just watched the newest episode. I have to say, they really built it up way better in every possible way then it was in the manga. In the manga, you didn't feel much of anything, just slightly pissed. Here, you really get some emotion. To date this is probably 2 second best episode after Jiraiya's sacrifice. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted June 25, 2010 Author Posted June 25, 2010 which episode number is that? I'm just waiting for taka to release 166 but i have read the manga a bit of a ways further than this anyway. yeah I totally agree, reading it on the page is one thing, watching it in animated form is so much more powerful. Quote
Aether Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 well holy s##t ...oh my dayz....OMFG i think i just watched two of the most awesome episodes of anything ever!! episodes 142 n 143 of Shippuuden .... the 8 tails Killerbee dude is the most freakin awesome character ever - ever - ever. the weirdness of the horned bull octopuss type bijuu thing aside... the guy raps (i like hip hop), he wields 8 freakin blades at the same time, he's hard as f**k and he looks cool..+ he knocked the s##t and organs out of Sasuke. really that fight was AWESOME. this really makes me wanna learn japanese, save up for a ticket to fly to japan, then somehow find and high five Masashi Kishimoto...(then go n high five all the studio that animated it). he cant get rid of such an awesome character, he just cant (and if he does or not dont tell me please as i havent got past these episodes!) i just had to say how completely and utterly DOPE those episodes are!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
*Jess♥ Posted June 26, 2010 Author Posted June 26, 2010 yeah hachibi is pretty cool I was kinda thinking at that time, in some way i think we're supposed to support sasuke... but i just really did not like sasuke for going after that guy for such a poor reason. I think that type of hunt for those guys is just utterly wrong. it's uhm... dishonourable! Quote

*Jess♥ Posted June 26, 2010 Author Posted June 26, 2010 well judging by where 165 left off, I think I know what happens. although I'm gonna guess they put a lot more effort into that particular event. in the manga, it's like oh, ok so that happened. oh ok, what's going on now. but in the anime i think it'll be more like OMG, no, it can't be!! oh dear .. oh crap... can't wait til it's ready to dl. I think that type of hunt for those guys is just utterly wrong. it's uhm... dishonourable! yeah. i agree. dishonourable and disrespectful, especially to someone who goes to the effort of speaking in rhymes!.. i cant support sasuke if hes truly going to take down konoha...i coudnt have cared less if Sasuke died in that episode, if i wasnt eating at the time i would have been jumping on the sofa routing for killer bee!!(should 29 year olds really get THIS excited at anime / 'cartoons'?? who cares!! ) thats twice Itachi's saved Sasuke now - he would have been dead without Amaterasu (and his Taka crew) Edited June 26, 2010 by Eether Quote
*Jess♥ Posted July 4, 2010 Author Posted July 4, 2010 I got completely up to date with the manga that is chapter 500. so this is pretty awesome, and i can't imagine how much more awesome it'll be when animated. so did you notice when he finally got the kyubi's chakras, his look, his markings, the way his hair went... looks incredibly similar to the sage of the six paths! *Jess♥ Posted July 4, 2010 Author Posted July 4, 2010 remember your spoilers that is from the latest episode of the anime. i'll need to spoilerfy my reasoning so people don't get it ruined. the anime does this kind of over the top, super exaggerated, artsy animation any time the action gets so intense that they need to accentuate it somehow. this kind of animation is obviously not often seen in anime and i personally love it when they do this. it takes on this unreal quality. things go out of proportion and stretch and squash unnaturally. this does not happen often. btw, this is a scene where naruto allows the power of the kyubi to come out. it's not a good thing because it essentially turns him into a berserker and is very dangerous to anyone around him. out of spoiler, i can safely say, i would not consider that bad quality at all. it's completely on purpose. Cannibal Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 (edited) 167 ep of Shippuuden - awesome battle But IMO animation somewhat strange (looks low budget or something ). spectre555 Yeah - these moments are weird. But funny Edited July 5, 2010 by Cannibal Quote
Bio-Boosted Dude Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 hahahaa i stopped watching the anime but i might just check out this episode after seeing those Gifs. i agree with Ryuki, this is the kind of over the top animation they use with the more important fight scenes in naruto (episode 133 of the original, naruto vs sasuke for example). the animation really is something to behold Quote
*V Guyver Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 yeah, I admit it, the animation for the old series was way better, though I like the manga's new look for the characters, it's totaly different with the anime. It's been odd and choppy from the start, but they really did translate some awesome scenes from the manga, such as Orochimaru vs Naruto. The animation as pretty good, just not as high up as the old one unfortunately. I just don't understand why the changed so much of the staff from the previous incarnation. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted July 13, 2010 Author Posted July 13, 2010 i decided to look at the manga for some important parts. the orochimaru fight when 4 tails appear, that was quite incredible in the manga. I think the manga was much better back then. recently the manga has become very convoluted.. i mean in the latest chapter, there is one panel where i had to spend at least 3 minutes looking at it before i figured out what the hell it was showing. in the end i figured out it was a side view of the persons midriff. but i think reading the manga after watching the anime is ok because then i know what is going on and i can concetrate on the other parts. like.. the emotion in that was very strong. also, I really enjoyed being able to add my own feelings to naruto's anguish and it gave me a very distinctive sound in my mind for kyuubi's howl. very eerie. i don't think the anime allowed for that really, it was very impressive in a different way. i really got to imagine the feeling that naruto must have been experiencing with the burning of the chakras and the blood coming from his body. I thik i'll read the manga more fully from the begining at some point. after i watch the anime for a second time, maybe a third. not sure. anyway last thing i want to say, after i read over chapter 499 again, I noticed something very significant that i didn't notice before but i made a similar observation on my own. when kyuubi says "rikudo" in response to naruto's seal. it seems that naruto is taking on the semblance of the rikudo sage in a number of ways. let's see, rikudo sage, sage of the six paths. what has naruto got access to... senjutsu, ninjutsu, taijutsu, I don't think he can do genjutsu.. are there 2 more type of jutsu? i think.. is sealing a type of jutsu? is this what the meaning is of sage of the six paths? will naruto become skilled in more types of jutsu? Well it's mixed bag now, a short while back though it was pretty awesome. You're begining to see why I wasn't too happy with the start of the Shippuuden anime. It looked great up until the funny as hell animation from the Kyubi/pain fight. As for jutsu's I'm explain there are three main types. You an read it all her,e but I'll post and guve a small summery. http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Jutsu Ninjutsu - Elemental and handseal Technique based combat Genjutsu - Illusionary based combat Taijutsu - Hand to hand and weapon combat Then there are the sub groups Bunshinjutsu - Clone based stuff Chakra Flow - chakra flowing into weapons Collaboration jutsu - teamed up jutsu's, usualy using two elements Flower Ninja Art - mix of tai and nin, often looks like flowers Fūinjutsu - sealing Hiden - Secret clan techniques Jikūkan Ninjutsu - space-time based jutsu Juinjutsu - ressurection/zombie jutsu Kenjutsu - Sword based Kinjutsu - Banned jutsu Nintaijutsu - Basically the Raikage's fighting style, taijutsu mixed with electrical ninjutsu Senjutsu - natural sage magic Tailed Beast Skill - self explanitory Tensei Ninjutsu - lifeforce transfering stuff The there are the Kekkei Genkai stuff. Which is basically abilities due to genetics Such as Dōjutsu. Which are all eye based Kekkei Genkai. Quote
