That whisper was just total BS, you are not missing anything, she was just telling mephisto that peter would never do this deal unless she agreed to it and to leave peter alone which considering how Mephisto works he could have just screwed them over, that deal had so many flaws to backfire it is not even funny. on a later issue called one moment in time they divulge that info as well that they still remember that they made the deal and how the marriage was cancelled, very out of character and stupid, believe me Durendal and Krucifer, this has left me very mad as well since like I said before Spider-man is something important to me.

Also durenda that is a very interesting thing you said about cyclops, maybe that is how he turns out being in the Uncanny Avengers ...unless the guy in the cyclops outfit on the #1 issue is really Havok, that would be weird.

Ah, sorry for the confusion. The cyclops I was talking about is in all new x-men. I got confused with the uncanny avengers. But that young scott and old scott thing is currently in the issues of all new x-men. But yeah, the broody cyclops began after the events in the twelve which altered his personality and prompted his psychic affair with Emma Frost.

Damn, Marvel, how many marriages are you going to screw with?

probably all of them since someone thinks that marrige is not that interesting for superhero stories *cough*quezada**cough* I may pick up New Xmen now that you have piqued my interest.

Well, let's do consider superheroes that ARE married. Superman is married, worked out pretty well. Oh wait, New 52, so he's a bachelor again. Hmm.... come to think of it, aside from the pre-new 52 superman, I can't seem to remember any superhero that stayed married. I think the gauge would be "which superhero stayed married the longest time?". Their spouse is either divorced, estranged, never existed or majority of them, dead. Could this play a major influence on the society of Americans where marriage can be easily dissolved with just a simple paperwork?

Apparently there have been leaked images on the web that shows the ending of the comic. The writers are already getting death threats from fans because of this. Even caused some piracy issues and marvel is investigating this. Man, that's just screwed up. Let's see how long before Marvel reverts this back. Or do you think this is just some publicity stunt, and the actual ending is really different.

Man, Doc Ock? Really? I find that hard to believe. I'm guessing this is something similar to how they killed cap.

I have not read issue 700 so I don't know how it ends but if dock ock will really be the new spidey there better be a good reason for it I don't mind them doing what they did with Cap, maybe we will eventually like this new spidey but only time will tell, Peter will come back sooner or later, he is too much of an Icon to kill off and if they do I only want him to be killed of in a heroic and iconic fashion like they did with "The Other" storyline which is by far one of my favorite spidey stories. I will still read spidey comics till I die since it is one of the things that made me what I am now.

possible

And here I thought Peter would end up in Hell for his dealings with Mephisto. Or could this possibly be some twisted scenario created by Mephisto to screw with Peter? I mean, letting Peter keep his secret identity at the cost of his marriage with MJ doesn't really have anything Mephisto can gain. Shouldn't he be taking somebody's soul for those kind of deal? We're talking about society-wide manipulation here, and not just one "I want to be famous" deal with the devil. We'll probably see MJ going to hell to rescue Peter from the hands of Mephisto using some kind of back door to their original deal, and it ends up Peter finally restored to being married to MJ. If ever Doc Ock did replace peter as the new spidey, this is the only loophole I can think of to return the status quo.

The death of cap didn't really leave a lot of fans outraged and yet they brought him back to life. This particular issue even prompted fans to write death threats, so how long do you think before they reverse this decision?

The Dark Tower comics are based off of the Stephen King novel's of the same name.

Here is a little basic information about the series in general.

Lately I have been going through what is left of my American comic collection to see if there was anything that I have not read in a while. I was delighted to find my old Transformers: Beast Wars Omnibus! So many fond memories with that thing! Gonna sit down sometime soon and reread the whole enchilada!

Speaking of old comics, I wonder how much my X-men #1 (the 90's version, not the 60's) will fetch these days? Also my Spawn #1 as well as other first wave of image comics would be valued at. It's a bit disappointing that some of my valiant comics are now worth next to nothing.

Finally read Amazing Spider-man #700 and frankly ......I hate it and this is not because I'm a Fanboy of spidey, I'm ok if Spider-man Dies or is replaced but only if he goes in a heroic and meaningful way and WHO replaces him, the way this was handled was in a very mean way (I read an interview of Dan Slott and I think that was his intention from the beginning) It's been 40 + of history, all the stuff that he has gone trough be it by somebody else or his own doing he was still loved by the fans and to send him off like this just feels wrong. people are already whining about the end of the issue and the preview of "superior" spider-man does not look promising at all, I will give it a chance but not many people see things the way I do and sales WILL suffer for this stunt and I honestly can't blame them if they Boycott "Superior" Spider-man .

I've read it as well out of curiosity. Was not impressed and frankly, was very disappointed. That's not how Peter thinks. Is it possible that all these years, it was the humor that was keeping spiderman alive? And they obviously made Doc Ock too smart. Fine, I can accept that given how the intellectual type Doc Ock is. But the way Peter "beamed" his memories to Doc Ock? That's just bull! Hell, the way Doc Ock had that carbonadium plating in his spine was pure genius, but the way it ended was just plain bull.

Posted

The carbonadium plating was just plain shark jumping, but what is done is done, I may turn out liking this new spidey MAYBE but I will not accept Doc as the "Superior" spider-man and also I don't like the idea of marvel basically saying that it is ok to Rape Mary Jane, even if is the same body it is not peter and she does not know it so it counts a rape technically which is one of the things that i will really hate if they stick to their Idea of hooking up Doc with MJ, that is just wrong.

Posted

If I was doc ock, and knew that while there is a way to switch back bodies, I would certainly guard against it happening. So the carbonadium plating is just a normal precaution any sound minded person would take. You'd be an idiot not to protect against something that you did to somebody else.

I no likey this spidey. They did the same thing to Cyclops back then when he was merged with Apocalypse. Now the way it looks to me like they merged Spidey with doc ock. I don't think we can expect any wise-cracking spidey with this superior spiderman. This story opens a lot of diverging paths. It might even be possible that spidey now has two consciousness in him, one that of doc ock, and the one of peter which he beamed back with the doc's device.

Posted

Yea but there was no time for him to do something like that out of the blue, he was not even counting that Peter would escape the prison, in my opinion peter is technically dead, probably trapped in the astral plane or in hell with mephisto thanks to the one more day thing, what I think peter did is overload his memories to doc ock so he can experience fully what peter has done over the years in hope to give Doc a sense of guilt enough for him to just take his place as Spidey and not screw it up. The only way I can see him coming back is trough Doctor Strange or Madam Web, they are probably the only 2 persons who can detect that the one in spider-man's body it is not peter, heck I can probably guess what will happen when he gets back in a way to make Doc Ock stay alive as well they can go the War Machine route and make a clone body and transfer Doc's Mind into that body and Peter gets his body back but that is just me being generous and smart unlike what the writers in marvel are doing, but here is hoping this does not pass a year.

This is why I am glad I left Marvel comics after the Thanos Imperitive, and before Fear Itself.

Not only did they "Kill off" two of my favorite characters ( Richard Rider/Nova Prime and Darkhawk) after making so much effort to revitalize them, but then they just ended one big crossover and start right into another. These large crossovers were great a decade or more ago, because they were RARE.

I remember The Age of Apocalypse, and how epic everything felt since they took over the regular releases. Then there wasn't a big one for a while. But over the last few years there has been a large crossover practically every year... Basically only giving individual comics a few issues ( 5 at max) to do their own thing. There should be at LEAST a year between these events, if not two. And now Marvel has ruined big crossover events by over saturating the market with them.

So now they have to go and pull a stunt like this in order to dig up some press.

Sad.

I thought issue 700 worked quite well though.

last time i saw spiderman, ben reilley was pretending to be spiderman and there was this guy called spidercide and a guy called kane.

reading this, I didn't find myself to be too confused.

I mean of course, I had no idea who that cop lady was and no idea why JJJ was not in the daily bugle, but those things don't really matter.

As they say, bad publicity is still publicity. With this stunt they pulled, it put spiderman back into the press' radar. And because of the hype, or should I say, controversial issue, everyone started to pick up Amazing spidey 700. I would say that's a last ditch effort for a temporary solution in boosting up sales that actually worked. Proof that even Ryuki, who is usually not quite open diving into the middle of a story without knowing anything, read it.

That's a good point.

but truth be told, that is how I always saw spiderman anyway.

my big bro used to read them to me when I was little so I can read spiderman any time and the way it is written, it feels like he is next to me reading it to me. so I don't need to know the backstory, never did.

but you are right that it is bringing attention to the franchise. I never paid money to read it, but some people may have.

it won't last long though. I mean, I don't plan to read the next issue at all.

I'll just keep an eye out for news of the situation changing. and probably forget about it anyway.
