durendal Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 I know, airing Gundam is basically a marketing ploy to sell toys. As you mentioned, at least the writing gives merit to the story. Now, it's just blatant marketing. I have yet to dive further into the series if its a hit or miss. Only time will tell I guess. Funny you mentioned G Gundam because that is actually one of my favorite series. In the final episodes, you get to see a lot of familiar robots. No, not Mobile suits, but Super Robot. I think Zambot was there. I even got a website setup almost a decade ago. I'm surprised that it's still up. Although I got lazy and never updated it. If your curious, you can see it here. ggundam.atspace.com ( hehe shameless self plugging) Quote
*V Guyver Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 I remember it, that and every gundam that was ever showed in the franchise, even Gundam Wing which had yet to air. This was all during that last battle against the Devil Gundam controlled Space Colony. I loved G Gundam, despite how silly it was. It didn't get good ratings, but it certainly had an impact on gundam fans with it's surprisingly deep plot. Also, the only Gundam series that had an adult lead from the start. Sure others had older costars, or some that turned 18 between seasons, but Doman from the very start was 20. All other series have young boys or teenagers. Never understood how every military organization can just throw children into a powerhouse death machine repeatably. Quote
durendal Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Still watching Gundam Build Fighters. I have to admit, I'm hooked. I like how there are layers of plot in the series. And here I thought it's only about boys and their toys, but I guess it goes deeper than that. Meijin Kawaguchi. I'd like to know how he will fare against Aila. And who exactly is Reiji. 1 Quote
oogeej Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I've been watching Fate Stay Night and Say 'I Love You' Quote
LordSpleach Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 In the middle of watching Gundam Build Fighters myself, and I'm gonna try to watch all of Zeta and ZZ Gundam while it's up on Gundaminfo's Youtube channel. Quote
durendal Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Holy Crap! Z and ZZ IS available, albeit on a limited time only. Yes, do watch Zeta, I highly recommend it. ZZ, nevermind. Quote
durendal Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 WTF? They changed the opening theme for Zeta Gundam? This should be how their opening should be: Opening 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tfHTR50pY8 Opening 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_H80kdKJoQ Personally, my favorite is the second opening, "Mizu no Hoshi e, Ai wo Komete", still happens to be my favorite themes. There were issues licensing the Openings for Zeta. Heck, there were subtitling issues too, until they released the second version of the English release. But my original Box Set has what is described as "Dub Titles" As for Zeta itself... I couldn't stand it. I think it was too dark, and Kamille was a brat for pretty much most of the series. I just could not stand him. Some of the best UC Mobile Suit designs did come from it though. Unrelated to the topic, but is 'durendal' actually a banned user? Nah, he's just some super hacker who still decides to post here after we banned his account. We just hope he doesn't take the site down, and break into our bank accounts. Or not. I was up at 2:30am this morning playing Dark Souls 2... My brain isn't working very well. But I am pretty sure that is accurate. Or not. 2 Quote
Guest snow Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 (edited) I really like Rahxephon. Top favorite.I like Ayato Kamina because he's a God, he's actually part of the Goddess Ixtlie who happens to be the soul of the Rahxephon, She takes the form of his long lost girl friend, Reika Mishima. Kind of a way so she can manipulate him and give him morale to use the Rahxephon. You know how gods are, they like to do that mortals to get them to do things they want. Ayato is called an Olan, Olans are of the flesh and blood a conduit of Ixtlie, basically a demi god, who has no idea he's a God in human form sent to stop the MU invaders from another Realm sent to enslave humanity. He uses the Rahxephon to kill dolems used by the Mu sent from Tokyo Jupiter ,and the Rahxephon is basically part of him. But he has to use it to learn how to tune it so he can re-tune the worlds or realms and purify the time lines. Pretty complex, but I read the manga. The anime is way better. It goes knee deep into a lot of mythology. But its really good. I mean....very good. Edited March 13, 2014 by Jupiter-Prime 1 Quote
durendal Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Kill La Kill. Snubbed this series earlier because I didn't think they could duplicate what made Gurren Lagann so great. Guess I was wrong. Quote
durendal Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Oh, did I mention that Kill la Kill has lots of jiggly boob action? 1 Quote
LordSpleach Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 So I just finished Zeta....so yeah.... So they took the unnecessary Newtype powers(aka 2001: A Space Odysesy) from Mobile Suit Gundam and completely expanded/infected into Mobile Suit Z Gundam. Newtypes are just horribly done psychics that are way too emotional and the ghosts thing clearly ripped of Star Wars. The 'fact' that Zeta Gundam could use the souls of the dead along with Kamille's emotionally state really turns it into Shao Kahn, which begs the question. Why was the Double Zeta made? Of course I will have to watch Mobile Suit ZZ Gundam for the answer. Besides the whole Newtype business, it was a decent series, but it has flaws that many seem to ignore. Katz's death was funny, though. While I like it for its plot overall, honestly I feel Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Season 2 was a much better Zeta. Quote
lost unit Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 just finished watching attack on titan season 1 and 2 now read on with the manga good stuff. Quote

durendal Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Broken Blade. It's an old anime but it's still good. Just finished all 6 movie episodes and I hear that they are re-releasing this as a TV series. Quote

Toku Warrior Posted April 18, 2014 Author Posted April 18, 2014 Darn U D, I'm trying not to watch Kill la Kill. But with U saying that, it'll make me wanna watch it!, lol. For me, no new anime...well, maybe Maken-Ki! 2, High School DxD New and Hyperdimension Neptunia, but I have most of that just downloaded and saved for a rainy day. Quote

If you think about it, its basically about girls fighting over clothes. Leave it to the Japanese to make the most simple of things interesting. Quote
lost unit Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 just started watching a new amine called Black Bullet starts off well see how it carries on. Quote
Guest Jupiter-Prime Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 I miss watching Love Hina, I haven't watched that show in over a decade. Its a love comedy about a guy who works at an apartment complex in search of his lost love interest. Also, I haven't seen Great Teacher Onizuka in forever. Its about a teacher who is an ex-Yakuza biker gang leader who only wanted to teach because he has an old fetish for high school girls. Pretty hillarious on the situations he gets himself into. Quote
