Sully Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Looking back on the posts over the last month and from reading the fiction myself I'm not happy with how the above 3 where used in the story and the rewrites will address this. 1. The Grakken Overall they make very little sense. Yes they are alien... but they are stupid aliens in the fan-fiction. They have come to Earth, looking for means of attacking the Creators. Yet they are in an all out war with Chronos in an odd way who in fact share the Grakken's desire for revenge. You could say ACTF is to blame for the way they sent the Grakken Craft back to them. But lets be burtally honest. They shouldn't have being able to do that. The GRakken ship is an alien ship. A ship of a race who fight the Creators and had a VERY long war with them. Yet the bog standard Guyver unit can command one of their ships? Short answer nooo it can't. So with the removal of that after the re-write Chronso and the Grakken will be in a cold war of sorts. 2. Cori - almost everything about the way she became the Battle Guyver simply doesn't work. Teh Grakken have the Battle unit yet stay on Earth? With that tech they can vastly upgrade their race. Yet don't leave with their prize. Yes they are hoping for another unit but there must be a reason for it. Then we've the whole thing about them capturing Cori. It's not explained why in great detail. Yes she's the main ACTF person in the fan-fic for finding dorment units. But who or why she became a target needs to be explained. It also needs some more build up to why Guyver US and Warrior Guyver went after them. 3. The Mercs Richard Baxter must be the dumbest rich man in the planet. Attacking both ACTF and Chronos? Then looking to Alkanphel to make a treaty? These events need to change and change heavily. So basically what you saw happen with the Merc's will roughly happen has they did before. In that they for a short while joined ACTF. They somewhat got on with them but for the most part the bulk of them did not. The Merc's are not the most diplmatic buch even with each other and do what Merc's do. They went tothe highest bidder which was Baxter. The group will split has before down the lines of those not obessed with cash and those that simply can't refuse such a huge amount of cash. But there is no combat between the two groups other than where things get too personal before the group decided to split. Overall I want to give this event a lot more build up and a lot more character. So in the end when the mercs do cut ties with ACTF and join Baxter it hurts. Even more so has Carter can't do anything about it. The Merc's simply leave, he gets a call from the Priesident and is told they are no longer his to command. The events of how the Merc's get involved in a war with Chronos will be different than before. Baxter is the diplmatic arm of the Grakken that have being stranded on Earth for the last 16 years (this is thanks to the Enforcer Prime, they are the last of a fleet that attacked him and the fleet he commanded on Mars when Isis was to be taken to Earth). Has you need to know this for 7 Days part 7 to make sense here's an overall picture of how things worked with the Grakken. 1. The ship underwater near the US was a rather large escape pod from a Grakken ship. Damaged they are all that remains of the fleet mentioned before and are standed on Earth. They reach out over time and make alliances with Baxter first. Through him they start to make an empire based on business and money based on what Baxter can backwards tech from the Grakken. Over time and a few years before hand they make contact with Area 53 and learn of Martin and his control over the place. They start to trade tech with him looking for the means of getting a satalite in space capable of commincation with their home empire. By the time for Time War Jason and Sean mess up what happens in Area 52 much like they did before (though without any chat with the Grakken). It is from MArtin they learn about who and what the Grakken are (up until then they just new they where alien Guyvers of some kind - this is after the rewrite of Union where the grakken is a lot less talkative). Baxter is the reason Cori was kidnapped. She was getting close to finding the Turbo unit and Battle Unit's relic. The fight in Union was a cover for another Grakken force to strike ACTF and capture her. Chronos and the Grakken fought for the control of this Relic and is the start point of their battles on Earth. Each side capture a unit has before. Though Chronos know nothing about Cori. The Grakken on Earth capture the Battle unit and get what they wanted from Baxter in the end who gets a satalite into space (it was though meant to be an ACTF coms satalite. Has a reward he's given access a a Grakken unit. They call for help from the home fleet. Cyber Guyver is the one who discovers this message. Events which lead to Resuce. Though events aren't on the ship in the sea, but on the Rescue ship sent for the Grakken and to recover the Battle Unit. 4. Area 51 This too will happen differently has said. Though the reason Chronso stayed away was simple. They already knew of events srounding the place thanks to Isis' sister. Chronos never attacked Area 51 in force in the fan-fiction, only a token force everyone once in awhile which the Aceaer Martin killed off with the Marines on site. The Grakken worked with him because of a simple reason. WArrior Cast Grakken do not know anything along the lines of Scince. Grakken breed towards different casts. the warrior cast being the only ones we've since. The Fleet we've seen so far up until 7 Days has always being the fleet cut off from the main Grakken Empire, as such they've being cut off from the science cast. Chronos still capture Martin pretty much has before. The ending of All Things Change part 4 will pretty much be the same has before. Grakken try to make peace with Chronos through the Mercs and Baxter. But "someone" squeals on them. ACTF interferes at this point. the result = Chaos over New York and Dreadnought winning the day. ______________________________________ There you go. This should keep ye up to date on the changes in mind for the Grakken, Cori etc. Quote
Sully Posted January 14, 2010 Author Posted January 14, 2010 Note Grakken would have some token Science cast for the fleet which would be on their new home planet (hense how they juryrigged the Hunter). But in terms of solid advances in tech the Grakken we've seen are the ones from 1000 years ago and havn't being to their home system since. I've also not yet decided if Lostude will be killed off the way he was. Has a plot term it's important he is for later stories. So while he mightn't die the way he did and might in fact escape All Things Change alive in the re-write his future like all of the test units will be interesting. If you guys have any questions please ask in this tread. Ideas and updates that are relevent will be put into this post and the ones above. Even more so when 7 Days part 7 is done and the re-writes start. For another little history lesson behind this change. It wasn't until one day Mike and I had a chat on MSN about the Grakken that I serously considered them a race after a few weeks of debate about what makes them Grakken and not humans with 4 arms. What you're going to see after the re-writes and when 7 days is fully completed is the result of those chats and giving the Grakken some better development. : Quote
Juggernought Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Question on how the Grakken breeds....is it because they have female counterparts or do they use some kind of replication or technological means? Quote
Sully Posted January 14, 2010 Author Posted January 14, 2010 Question on how the Grakken breeds....is it because they have female counterparts or do they use some kind of replication or technological means? They have Queens. Won't go into in great detail now (will be a later story). The ones we've seen so far though do not have access to a Queen. The oldest queen was in fact the first Grakken to get a unit. Quote
McAvoy Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 The Grakkens in the beginning never made sense to me. You Pretty much sumed it up. I never got even in the beginning why they took Cori but killed others. At first it seemed to get under Guyver US skin but how would they know that. Then it seemed like they knew about Cori's expertise, which means how would they know about that. Area 51 and Grakken relationship is also odd. Why Cori got the Battle unit was odd and made no sense. Baxter attacking both Chronos and ACTF made no sense. I always thought that the Grakkens are intectoid similiar to the aliens in District 9 but more war like. So like insects it would natural for a Queen and possibly a Supreme Queen. Quote
guyverfanatic Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 I never thought about how it didn't make sense myself. Quote
largo Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 I never thought about how it didn't make sense myself. I'm with you I never really thought about that. Quote
Sully Posted January 18, 2010 Author Posted January 18, 2010 I never thought about how it didn't make sense myself. I'm with you I never really thought about that. When you take a break for a few years, come back and then look over the future plot for Grakken's and what was stated in the fan-fiction before hand... Then you really notice. Simply it stemed from back 10 years ago I never thought the fan-fiction would be a big and complex a story has it is now. So there was not enough forward thought given to the Grakken. Now being older and wiser there is, but much like the past fan-fiction they need a bit of scrubbing up to make them have a proper background and fit into the story. This is also part of the reason why the WG-Fic site has it is now has being archived. There will be a few things treated a lot differently after the re-write. The Grakken is a major one of those, along with the Mercs. Quote
*zeo Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 The Grakkens in the beginning never made sense to me. You Pretty much sumed it up. So like insects it would natural for a Queen and possibly a Supreme Queen. Well not that it matters, now that we're going to re-write it anyway, but the Grakken could easily have found out about Cori from either or both Martin and/or Baxter. It was just never explained. But correct me if I'm wrong but the Grakkens never had the Battle Unit. And previous knowledge of the Battle Unit makes no sense IMO, more than likely they just wanted to find clues to where Creator tech may have been left behind and her skills fall right into that category. Even if they knew where the Battle Unit was located, it was protected and Grakkens can't teleport on their own. So couldn't have gotten past the barriers that WG got past so easily. Not to mention what would have happened if they had been the ones to accidentally awaken VWG. Though that could have been made a lot more detailed and harder for WG but we were in a hurry at the time and didn't use many of the ideas we had planned for that part of the story. Quote
Sully Posted January 19, 2010 Author Posted January 19, 2010 This is more down to me been also rusty witht eh story. Yes the Grakken "knew of" the Relic with the Battle Unit. But still it needs better explaination why they relaxed on the information? Where they themselves expecting a Rescue for example? in what way did they get into a battle with Chronos over the Turbo unit. Which then begs the question why it took Chronos so long to get to the site of Primtive Guyver's old empire where Solom's lab Relic was located and the dormant Battle Unit. Will not go into detail by the rewrite will most likely have some new action and a more... let's just say more Agito naugtyness. Simply put the Battle Unit will have a harder time getting into ACTF's hand's this time. Quote
Sully Posted January 22, 2010 Author Posted January 22, 2010 Note: This now also extends to the Creators. There has always being "something" that has protected the Earth from outside (alien) influances. It has being this "somethings" responibility to do so and it's bacause of this "something" with "somethings x amount" that Grakken fleets don't make their home on Earth. "Something" has being around a hell of a long time (ever since the WG event in time war) in one form or another. This "something" will be in 7 days 7 and in past fictions after rewrites when completed.... There you go a hit of something... New coming your way Quote
Juggernought Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Sooooo i'm guessing no further hints as to what this Something could possibly be in one form or the other? Or what events this Something influenced? Quote
Sully Posted February 10, 2010 Author Posted February 10, 2010 Since we're in the retcon mood and fixing things... After 7 Days part seven is posted there will be more focus on correcting past mistakes with the story in relation to the books.Has I said before I like the WG-fic but when you read it it dose not link well with events up to book 26. So he's some more things that will be fixed up what to expect from me after "7days". It was the Dragon Lord event that forces Chronos to look at new possible Zoalords. More Proto Zoalords are made after that event (though these will be renamed by the time I get to rewriting the ficion). By the time of the Fan-fiction (Union) there are 12 Proto-Zoalords. Union will start off differently than before too. Taking account of the books Agito will be a lot darker and a lot less trusted. Female Guyver 3 will be a lot better explained. The WG2 story of his creation will highlight a much different Agito than that we know from the books. Events in his universe made for a much more mellowed Agito and he never had any zoa-forms made. This is why on his arrival to the universe of the fan-fiction he's surprised when Guyver 3 betrays him and ACTF in capturing the Gigantic pod and dormant WG unit. Stephen never expected it has he "knew" a different Agito that scraficed his life for humanity. in that Universe too Agito too never betrayed Sho so events from the Books and this story will be different (basically think orginal fan-fiction, everyone is happy on the good guy side:P ). This will also mean that story too will have more character in it to help explain the differances between that universe and the main fictions. This will also include how Fulton Balcus from the first Guyver movie fits into the fiction and how the Guyver Zoanoid's damaged control medal was recovered and by whom. Also there will be soome new stories put in so there are some surprises left when you read these stories. Quote
Juggernought Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Sounds gud ma man, btw what's the word count at now for 7 days?? Quote
Sully Posted February 11, 2010 Author Posted February 11, 2010 Sounds gud ma man, btw what's the word count at now for 7 days?? 11581 though I've rewrote the start of it (one of the cut outs in fact) again when re-drafting it has it didn't sound right. Quote
Guyver_Astray Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Just read the Chronicles of the Warrior Guyver. OH GOD the parts with the Grakken were chilling and epic. Love how they were done. Loved it how Cori was involved. Can't wait to see more. Quote
Zoaknight Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Ya mentioned Lostude's importance to the story may be altered as well, as well as that of the Merc Guyver's betrayals. I've been wondering myself what all those Merc Guyvers are up to now, especially Lostude's wife, she seemed like someone to get to know better given the grief of her loss and which side she'd end up choosing...And of course, it'll be interesting to see if all the mercs stayed with Lorcan and the Grakken or split up (I figure with the Grakken invasion going on we'll see them and Baxter at some point before it over). For me though, I'm most excited about part 7 because I want to see what becomes of good ol Alkanphel when he emerges from that pod W'kar put him in...I'm hoping W'kar has a method to his madness behind doing that and isn't just trying to be a dick to poor Dreadnought On a lighter note....ALL HAIL LORD ALKANPHEL! :apt: :mura: Quote
Sully Posted April 29, 2010 Author Posted April 29, 2010 Alkanphel wasn't put in a cocoon by W'Kar. That be Krullanr's doin. Quote
Zoaknight Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Alkanphel wasn't put in a cocoon by W'Kar. That be Krullanr's doin. Oops, my bad, need to reread that part I guess :apt: Quote
OnyxPhoenix Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 So much to read, so little light to keep near my chair... Another chapter of goodness waiting to happen. You all must love keeping us in suspense. Quote
McAvoy Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Alkanphel wasn't put in a cocoon by W'Kar. That be Krullanr's doin. Well sort of I guess. The big question would be how and why and what will he become after he emerges out of the cocoon if he does. Quote
Sully Posted November 17, 2010 Author Posted November 17, 2010 Slit this topic so I could go back to updating you all on planned changes. Time War 2 is getting closer to completion, with that said once it is complete it's time to move onto actual rewites. Cori will be my next major focus in planning for rewrites. The character for simple lack of the word is VERY under developed only getting her moments when resuced (and that was small) to the first parts of All Things Change. So needless to say she will have a lot more to do in the re-writes though will still be more of a support character. Needless to say I've being thinking a lot about the Rescue story. As it stands it's simply my least favourite story. I like some of the ideas it brings but there are things that simply don't make sense. Like how a Guyver can command a Grakken craft? Simple how can that be possible? Yes the Grakken are a Guyver basically, but still they where at war with the Gen, wouldn't their tech be designed to stop the Gen from commanding it? Yes it would so why the hell do the Guyvers get control the Grakken Mothership at all? The more I think about it lately the more "Rescue" is looking like totally being scrapped and wrote again from scratch. It's not like "Revenge", that story might have lacked some punch in some respects but it's a good story overall in the way it works. I'll add more to it in the re-write to give a lot more detail on how Chronos changed over the years since Agito attacked (and in the books blew up) the base. Rescure to me though in it's basic elements works but how it was delivered does not (probably because at the time I wasn;t willing to scrap it when Mike came along and contributed the cool idea of Guyver XT). Rescue is the result of this, plots come out of no where. At the moment I'm thinking on the lines of this. 1. Overall plot Recure of Cori (hence the stories name). What have they being doing to her being the main plot. What have they being up to since arriving to Earth. 2. Subplot 1, Europe what is happening there since Revenge. Warrior Guyver 2 and the ACTF trying to make a base of operations in Germany in an old Nato base seems a more realistic prospect than what was previously shown. 3. Subplot 2. The Kavzar left behind my Draven (yep that still happens but in a different way than before) and it's battle in Russia with Chronos forces as it seeks revenge for the falled Solom and redemption for it's falure. Again this seems a more interesting building plot. 4. Guyver XT and his "sister" will not happen in this story but in All Things Change Part 1. So that element of the story in Rescue will simply be removed. 5. The Fall of Searph begins the story. As mentioned before in 7 Days her fleet will be removed, this allows the Grakken's to act. Quote
Zoaknight Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Sounds good Sully, I look forward to seeing what these remakes will add to the WG universe as ya rewrite them one by one Quote
