Pic's that just never made it

Featured Replies

As we are discussing pics that never made it, let me show you an old design I did for a character concept alongside Crimson, part of my Aceaer collection. The name is Abscondo Aceaer. A design meant to be equivalent to Shadow Guyver, just in Aceaer form.

The reason I eventually dumped it, simple. Too simplistic in design. Neat, but not original enough.

Yes, essentially an Aceaer version of the stealth capabilities of Shadow Guyver.

Just curious, how long did it take you to draw it? Man I wish I could do that. Did it take you a lot of practice?

Considering it was back in 2001 that I actually made this picture I cannot remember. However I would say no more than 2 hours. Drawing, scanning, coloring and detailing.

For practice, ohhhhhhh yeah. Lot's of practice. Currently I am playing with the design for Omni W'Kar. I've gone through seven different design pictures already!

When you start to draw, where or how do you start? Sorry, don't mean continue to prod and poke at this, but I want to learn how to draw Guyvers myself. I'm looking for some tips and hints.

I always start with drawing the person before I draw the guyver/zoaform whatever. What matters is the character, not the pretty guyver knick nacks until that is done. Draw an outline, then fill it in.

I never thought of starting that way. I've always started by drawing the Guyver's first. That might be why I'm having so much trouble.

Does anyone else have any pics?

It is a bit simple in design. On the flipside, the coloring scheme isn't too bad. Be better in a darker green I think. Not the same shade as say Max Steiner's forms. Mmm let me see, possibly a 0,64,0 or 8,64,8 on the RGB scale (0 to 255) for the main one armor, and a darker shade, maybe black for the under stuff. That's if you wanted to recolor and add it later. But yeah, it is a bit simple in design, but it's not all bad. Think of it as a relatively fair trial run for the final thing. Hey, it's just an idea...:roll:

Indeed, many drawings and conceptual sketches are done before the final public image is displayed. Usually they are not colored or detailed until they are final approved, but this is one of those rare exceptions.

And I agree. Wouldn't mind seeing it in another persons fan fic though.

so...um....Zagam not getting similar design alterations?

What do you mean?

Well i know at some point, artists usually get new ideas on how to enhance their previously made art. You had mentioned working on designs for Omni W'kar a few posts back, i was just wondering if you harbored any such intentions for Zagam.

As of now, no. I am pretty satisfied with his design.

Not to say further pictures aren't in the future however.

One last question before i have to go fly...yay...think it was last year at some point i had tried creating an avatar for zagam and had it posted but immediately got jumped on by nearly all the mods lol, could i make another with your permission or is an official release imminent.

Granted, the Zagam pic wasn't done by Allen... but by me...
