they have version 2.0.19 out now.

If the hacking was actually caused by that internet worm, then perhaps that will completely fix the problem?

from what I remember, upgrading to a later version doesn't usually cause too many difficulties.

That's the plan for when we do the move. Not sure exactly when it shall be yet, but we'll let everyone know in advance.

It had a nice logo, and pretty little caterpillars made out of 1s and 0s .

Apologies to all, we got hacked again today so any post made today, August 10th, have been lost.

The hacker of the day was someone calling themselves Arizona, used the same crescent moon and star symbol so maybe this is from a hacker board. This one was a little more creative in that they put on some arabian sounding music.

The image itself was provided from a link to http://imageshack.us/ where the hacker stored a relatively hi-res image of a red flag version of the crescent moon and star that the other hackers have been using. Also had the words "SANAL KORSANLAR" right under the symbol.

If anyone can provide additional information it would be appreciated.

Hmm, persistant bugger, same hacker did it again this morning. This time the music didn't work and they used the following images from the same imageshack as yesterday,

From what I researched so far it appears all these hackers are Turkish and possibly Islamic according to one site Matt found that uses the same Crescent Moon and Star symbol and was kind enough to have an english version of their charter to defame all western propaganda sites. Guess that includes us apparently.

Well at least they stopped stopped trying to delete the whole board.

I am also becoming more enraged every time this happens. I mean really we all put in effort building this site. Throwing Ideas off each other. And being a pretty international group, I think we oughta start taking measures to protect our own computers. These guys appear relentless.

Hmmm.

Not only does this type of thing start wars, it also breeds hate. That in itself brings forth more hatred, and more violence, electronic or otherwise. It's a very common response to get angered at what we do not know or understand. That is to say, their motives. Eventually, things will settle. Often, the thief comes in the night. If that's the case, just surround the house with flood lights and leave no spot unlit at night. Granted, the neighbors might get pissed, but if it keeps you safe, why not do it?

But, yes, I can understand people being unhappy. But them calling us infidels, or whatever, doesn't really help their cause. In the short run yes, but not in the long run. Especially since on here, we never really touch the religious topics. At least, not from what I can tell. Different things mean something to everyone, and it's not necessarily the same throughout. A world divided along philosophical beliefs will break apart at the seams and burst with violence, hate, and discontent.

Given that Turkey is very much Islamic, specifically Sunni, it would be a good bet at the religious angle. But one that which has very little impact. Keep in mind that biding our time for other things would be best.

Hell I don't even understand what victory this affords them if any, and the irony is I have become pretty damn good at analysing politics, war, and the motivations and reasons people do things.

Really I can't understand the reasons for these attacks at all. We don't generally talk politics (well not since 2 1/2 years ago) so they are a little late on tha front. We don't talk about religion (well unless you count the guyver fan-fic) but even that is a stretch. Really there is nothing I can think of that could have triggered this. That is partially why I was thinking it was a disgrutaled former WG.com member. I still think it might be only this person I using the smoke screen of this fundamentalist site.

I posted this as a gripe and to find solutions allies to solve the problem, but you are turning this into a political debate, instead of what it really is, 1. a thread to find out who was attacking us, 2. to find solutions, 3. to find others who are mad about all the lost work (work you contributed to TD,) 4. to allow a place to blow off steam about the attacks. What this wasn't was a thread to for you to bitch about our government. I will not allow this to degenerate to the point that the intent of the thread is lost.

Thunder I want to make this clear I don't hate you. Though I am getting a little miffed at your desire to talk about this on this thread that are not closely related to this thread. If you want to talk international politics there are many boards out there for that, but just because you don't agree with something on a thread does not give you the right to derail the topic. You know I am getting real tired of this double standard on this site. Where it is okay to talk about anything so long as whoever has authority agrees with the subject (not subject like smut let us not be ridiculous . I'll tell you Thunder I am surprised you haven't been called on this a few times in the past. If I had spoke my mind on cirtain subjects. Yes, if this had anything to really do with politics or religion then they would have done a lot more than just put down the site had been hacked by them.

No this was just mindless vandalism, let's not make it out to be more than it is or give the hackers more credit than they deserve.

And remember, it was us that was attacked. I don't mind people venting their frustrations, it's understandable, but let's not start attacking each other, we're better than that.

Sorry Largo, and who ever has posted today (Sunday) but the site was attacked again. This time by a whole bunch of hackers taking turn with the site since we saw a different name every couple of minutes before we disabled the site to restore it.

This was the most serious attack yet since they tried preventing us from having access to the board at all. Fortunately we were able to get past that and restore the site.

It was also the most childish as the hackers came out with little more than we suck and Turkey rules. It was like we were being attacked by a bunch of kindergarden punks, not that I would even give these guys even that much credit.

I don't think any of them have even bothered exploring the site other than to vandalize it. Since they apparently don't have a clue who we are or what we stand for. They just make assumptions since this is an english language site.

Again, to any and all who may have been affected by this latest attack I apologize for the inconvienance and promise you we are trying everything we can to change the site so this will no longer happen in the future.

Okay this is insane. Why can't we put some kind of virus in the board so when they hack this site, they have a cost to pay. I know this is just fighting fire with fire, but really this is ridiculous. I mean you don't let a child misbehave with no consequnces. So why should we let them have free reign to do as they please.
