Remember, Luffy was shown haki so he could fight the new world on a level playing field. Luffy saw just how weak he was at Marinefold and he understood he needed a change. Marine rank and pirate bounty are not a reflection of strength in One Piece, Oda said it himself. Its a fan based rank system, but the Shichibukai are much tougher than their respected bounties. Oda said at the time of Alabasta, Crocodile"s "true" bounty would be at least double his old one (Over 160million) berries to reflect his strength. Just look at the Shichibukai, they're SUPER strong! Even Boa Hancock is really strong. Do you think her 80million bounty reflects her strength? That would mean she'd be weaker than a supernova...I bet she can destroy a pacifista. She'd just refuse to do it because the pacifista would overload upon seeing her beauty. Now I don't think we'll be seeing a DBZ shift here. I just think we'll be seeing bigger players step into the ring like the admirals and the shichibukai become the major antagonists rather than random pirate crews. Besides, I don't Sentamaru can go down so easily against Luffy. Sure he was shocked when Luffy beat a pacifista so easily, but I think its because he didn't think Luffy had that kind of haki, he even mentioned it. I think we've only seen the top of the iceburg, now we'll see the huge epic behemoth underneath...and his name is Blackbeard!

Remember the Strawhat crew was presumed dead until just recently. But the appearance of the new crew is probably why they kept Luffy's bounty. I don't think anyone actually knows Franky destroyed Vegapunk's lab And the rest of the crew haven't really done anything to the world besides get better at their respective skills. I think since the real crew has resurfaced, we might see a bounty increase for some members, not all. (Chopper, Nami, and Ussop to name a few) I agree Robin's bounty probably went up a bit but I think only her's and Luffy's will have gone up, since they're the only two to do anything against the World Government in the last 2 years as far as we know. I would love to see Brooke get an updated Wanted! poster though, c'mon, how cool would it be to see "Soul King Brooke Bounty 33Million Berries" and have a picture of his skeleton face with those awesome shades. I hope he keeps that rock-star look cause its just great!

I think its gonna be another build-up chapter, after all the whole group still isn't together yet. Brooke, Sanji, Zoro, and Luffy are still out in Shabondy, but their time is closing in. I think this might be the last build up chapter though because we've got Sentamaru coming on one end and Fake Luffy coming on the other; not too long until someone runs into Luffy. I want to see what the Blackbeard Pirates look like now. I always imagined that ever since he broke out the level 6 prisoners, his crew fights too much. After all, they are rough pirate captains who want his position...except Shiryuu.

Yeah pen and ink is always my preferred medium when it comes to drawing. I just like flat opaque color and thats easy to achieve with ink. I am currently trying to improve my digital art skills though since animation is pretty much all digital now. So gonna do anything special in Nebraska, aside from learning everything about corn?

I'm not sure what else I could do with it. I'd love to make the highlights have a sort of "halo-glow" effect, but I don't know how to do that atm. I'd rather hone my skills on other work. I'm trying to complete that Protoman pic for my brother then move onto another megaman pic

Okay so if you wouldn't mind taking a look at this art of protoman for me that would be great. Unlike the guyver lineart I did, I want to make these shadows falloff like they would in reality. I got the one on the leg using a regular mask and the bigger shadow using a mask & gradient. Blues! copy.psd.zip

Those technical terms was like spanish I know what it all meant but it was still confusing. Technical explainations aside, I kind of have a grasp of clipping masks but isn't it the same thing as a normal mask? I mean you basically paint or cut out the shape of what you want to hide/show based on what's below it right? I've been experimenting with gradient shadows using a regular mask. I guess that's the basic way to use a mask When I said "you" I wasn't referring to you personally Ryuki. I meant me, cause I want to try and post my PSD file for you to look at so you can see for yourself what I'm doing with the masks. Oh well, I'll just fiddle with some more

So I've been playing around with masks and starting to get the hang of them. I'm still a bit confused about clipping masks though. You can't post PSD files here can you?

Oh well, it was worth asking. I just want to try and be moderately good at photoshop since I like layer based systems over node based. I don't know why, but nodes look far more confusing and less organized than layers; whatever.

I understand how you feel, I'm better at the planning drawings and sketching than doing detail. Its the main reason I decided to pursue storyboard artist over character animator; I just lack the skill to do detail work. I vaguely recall the Eclipse Story, and the characters look cool. That dragon face is badass, it reminds me of a Red Eyes Black Dragon from Yugioh

Hey I just finished reading the lighting tutorial you game me, it was really informative. Granted I need to learn masks a bit better, but it was very clear and really makes it look like you save a lot of time to create an awesome final product. Do you by chance have any more tutorials you've made? If you wouldn't mind, I'd love to give this (and any other tutorials you may have) to some of my friends. I'm not kidding when I tell you how informative this was. Problem with my school is, although they teach you software like Maya, Nuke, and PS, they still expect you to know a whole mess of things before you start. I didn't have photoshop until 8 months ago, so I never got the real chance to learn it. I mean I had a week of classes on it in a Digital Fundamentals class, but thats was like 2yrs ago.

I kind of thought he was ordered to destroy the Thousand Sunny hence why Duval was beaten to hell. Every other time we saw Duval he was owning whoever was trying to take the Sunny, and then we seem him beaten severely, makes me think he managed to hold off Kuma until either Rayleigh or Shakky (Funny I know) stepped in.

While I can't deny Franky vs Kuma would be great, Zoro and Kuma have a history together albeit a short one. Kuma respected Zoro so much he agreed to spare Luffy in exchange for Zoro's life. Pretty odd for someone called "the Tyrant" to do don't you think? Still I wish Kuma could resist his full cyborg state a little. I liked Kuma a lot. He may not have had a lot of personality to him, but that sliver he had was awesome.

True that happened but when Oars Jr broke through the giants squad at Marinefold, Kuma hit him in the back with his Urusus Shock which brought Oars Jr to his knees allowing the marines to counter him. I think the government has big plans for Kuma. They may try to use him to kill Dragon, after all he was a member of the Revolutionary Army

Not true, don't you recall the battle at the summit? He used Urusus Shock on Oars Jr and used his Pad Hou on the Newkamas. He just uses his pacifista mouth laser more frequently now. I imagine if someone fought Kuma one v one, he'd teleport all over the place like he did against Zoro. I think he must have some sort of restraint system on how much he uses his DF powers now because he didn't teleport when he fought Ivankov. I think he did however teleport to Shabondy when he went to attack the Thousand Sunny. How else did he just appear there like always?

I got a question about this particular lighting method: I understand everything except the "Solid Colors" part. It may just be my eyes, but I don't see any of that purple-ish blue color in the gradient so I'm not sure I understand why its there? I want to try and impliment this method of yours into a piece I'm doing so any info would be greatly appreciated.

Well Doflamingo thinks the era of dreams is over, its the basic principal of his new age isn't it? Ah yes, I forgot that stipulation about Logias, so perhaps he does have some form of Haki. I do find it funny though he's too lazy to block crocodile with his arms so he blocks with his foot. It does fit the whole Flamingo part of him well though
