Well Doflamingo thinks the era of dreams is over, its the basic principal of his new age isn't it? Ah yes, I forgot that stipulation about Logias, so perhaps he does have some form of Haki. I do find it funny though he's too lazy to block crocodile with his arms so he blocks with his foot. It does fit the whole Flamingo part of him well though

So everybody interested I'm working on a new line art as we speak. I'm doing this for my brother since this was one of his favorite video game characters growing up. I haven't gotten to shades yet, but I want to try Ryuki's shade techniques on this piece. I'll post WIP pics along with starting a new thread. I like this lineart coloring so I want to try and make more often. So those not in the know, this is Blues or Protoman as he's know around the world. He's brother to Megaman and the super cool "loner" style character in the megaman franchise.

Yeah but it still didn't do anything to oz besides give him a big cut. That was the perk of the zombies, they could continue fighting no matter how damaged they were. Luffy pummeled him in the hollow control area, and he beat up moria more than he did Oz to stop Moria's Kage Kagume ability thus ridding Oz's advantage. I mean true Luffy needed the Strawhats combined to beat Oz, but it was the Gear third Bazooka to the spine that beat Oz. On a different note, wouldn't it be funny if Brooke knew Soru and Geppou? Imagine Brooke already fast and able to jump high having both of super speed and able to kick off the air? It would fit since he's so light

I think Luffy's Gear system is what makes him truly stronger than Zoro and Sanji. Luffy's Gear 3rd alone can defeat a giant in a single blow! He beat 2 Shichubukai by himself, and crushed Oz's spine while the rest of the crew couldn't beat him. It was a long time ago, but back at Whisky Peak, the two fought and were pretty much equal. If Luffy were to fight Zoro again, its debatable whether or not Zoro would be able to keep up with Luffy's Gear Second speed. We know Mihawk could, but we don't know how much both have truly improved in 2 years.

Well some of the warlords (Except Crocodile) have some form of haki. We still don't know anything about Doflamingo to say whether he has haki or not. I mean we know Hancock has haki and I think Mihawk has haki (I mean its Mihawk arguably the strongest of the group) but we haven't seen any of the other warlods using haki. Jimbei doesn't seem to since he couldn't block Akainu's magma fist, Gecko Moria uses Doppleman as a way to block attacks, Kuma uses his speed and his extremely durable pacifista body to avoid attacks, and Blackbeard absorbs all attacks because of his devil fruit. Remember also guys, Doflamingo blocked Crocodile's hook, the only truly solid part of his body. If Doflamingo could use haki wouldn't it be cool if he could make nigh invisible DF wire net to surround the enemy? I really don't see him as the fighting type though; his personality and previous chances at fighting have proven he avoids direct confrontation. If Luffy and Doflamingo should ever fight, and I would love to see them do it, I think it would be a mirror of when Luffy fought Bellamy. Doflamingo could control the strawhats and have them attack Luffy in his stead, all the while belittling his dreams and boasting about his New Era. Then in one haki fueled fell swoop, Luffy smashes Doflamingo's face and shtters his shades, and the battle truly begins How epic would that be?

Why not just link the pics to something like a facebook photo album or something dude. I know we'd love to see them. Well its good you'll have company. My brother lives in NY and my best friend temporarily lives in South Korea so I've got my small group of friends down here in Florida. And let me tell you this, anytime someone fails a class down here, my friends leave them behind and cut all contact with them. A bit rude if you ask me...but whatever, its not about me here. Well he's got that effeminate pink feather boa and wears capri pants...he's still my favorite warlord, Kuma being a close second then of course Jimbei. 5000 sharktile seiken was an epic punch!

Well I played around with the color a bit and darkened the highlight color to more correctly match guyver 3's basic armor tone. This way the highlights don't stick out as brightly as they did before. Even with highlights, guyver 3's armor is still a very dark purple so color based highlights shouldn't be as brightly blue as I had them. I swear this time this one is smaller

Okay I used custom shapes defined by a path to make these jagged edged shades, if that helps you out. I did not use a mask at all on anything here so yeah that may be weird...I know a lot of photoshop savvy people use masks, but I still haven't gotten the hang of using them. I only used them once like 2yrs ago. Anyway gonna play around with it some more before I got to turn it in tomorrow

So what, fix it in the colors palate, blending layer, adjustment layer? Can I sound anymore like a noob at this? But thanks guys, this was fun to make and hopefully I'll be able to do more because lord knows I need to build up some sort of digital portfolio.

I think Doflamingo will have some sort of wire/string power. It would fit well after he cut off Oarz Jr's leg, I mean I don't know about you guys but it looked like the leg was cut off with piano wire. I just kind of wonder if Moria's alive.

So here's a new installment of the gallery featuring some work I've been doing while learning to use my tablet. They may not be the most interesting pieces, but then again they're exercises how often are exercises entertaining? So instead of giving conventional titles, I'll just list what these pictures are...even though their reference pics are next to them. Rusted Corrugated Metal Texture Made in Photoshop CS4 Probably the weakest of the three in this set. I experimented with custom brushes for all 3 of these pieces, however I don't feel like this one has the same sense of depth as you'll see the other one's have. Dirty Old Shutter Texture Made in Photoshop CS4 I like how true to the original this came out. It gives a very evil/dark feel even for a texture. Concrete Sidewalk Made in Photoshop CS4 This is my favorite of the 3 because it looks like concrete. Just the little nuances like the low opacity green and specks of white make it feel real and somewhat aged.

Okay guys, this is what I've got so far. Now I used the path tool for the jagged shadows on the guyver like Ryuki said I like the effect/contrast they're giving the piece however I'm not sure I like it for Guyver 3. It may be where I placed the shadows and perhaps also the colors of the shadows and highlights but Guyver 3 doesn't look nearly as real as the other guyvers. I'm talking strictly about the shades on his armor not the bioboost creature, metal orbs, or eyes; all of those came out good IMO. I'm worried strictly about the armor shades. I've got another day to work on this before its due and any input would be greatly appreciated guys. I'm going to use the image's original size so you guys can see in full detail I know its huge so sorry in advance

I'm really looking forward to that. I wonder though: does anyone think Luffy may have created a "Gear 4th" during his training? That would be epic. I know his Gear 2nd/3rd combo attacks are kind of like a Gear 4th, but something new would be really amazing. Luffy being able to use haki attacks is all well and good, but it'll get boring relatively fast if he just uses the same moves after 2 years

I still think that would be stupid of Oda. Up till now he's made Zoro's soul purpose of swordsmanship being to surpass Mihawk; if we don't see Zoro dethrone Mihawk with the Strawhats watching along side us wouldn't you feel betrayed by Oda? I certainly would. I think not only we the audience, but the Strawhats need to see Zoro defeat Mihawk because they should all achieve their dreams together instead of alone.

The only women Sanji was rejected by were strawhat members and the temp members like Camie and Vivi. There's no lady that can resist his charm You think Oda wouldn't show us the climactic battle between Zoro and Mihawk? That would be a huge kick in the balls

I think because he's like a music god now. I doubt Mihawk would make Zoro equal to him, but he would give him the strength and skills necessary to beat Mihawk on his own. Remember he told Zoro to see the world and grow strong. Yeah Sanji's never going to be gay...again XD

Alright this is very helpful. Shading layers, are those in the adjustment layers tab? We didn't go over those. This is still a little like speaking french to me, but I'm getting the basics of what you're talking about. Were you taught stuff like this or did you learn it yourself through experimenting?

Okay so a few questions: For the "Basic Light Distribution" did you just take a shadow of grey with low opacity and build up the shade from top down or use a ramp gradient? For "detail shade" did you use a hard brush? For tones did you just apply one solid color for the guyver armor itself and let the shades you already put down make the tones darker where needed? Boy this is a bit embarrassing considering half of my class is focused on learning photoshop. Surprisingly we never went over anything regarding shades or tones...I understand masking and matting is useful but would've liked to learn stuff like this more. But its a compositing class, so you can't get what you want I suppose Oh yeah, very nice job dude, thank you

Yeah I see what you're talking about. I did the bio-boost sections before I did the guyver's head. I'll have to experiment with the path tools later today

Well sure, if you would like to. I always learn better with a visual representation rather than just text you know. I can kind of see what you're saying with the inconsistency. Are you refering to stuff like the highlights on the guyver metal not being in the same area? I don't have the most steady hand sometimes A friend of mine told me to make the shades on the armor itself to be jagged and hard-brushed to create some contrast and break up the picture. Any thoughts?
