star scream betrayed megatron in the animated movie. it is possible, if the third bayformers is going to be any good.. and possibly following the plot of the movie, starscream betraying optimus would be a major part of that because it is how galvatron came to be.

wow, with all this popularity.. It makes me think, perhaps new fans for masked rider ryuki?

thx dude. yeah, I borrowed dekareds dvd's and they would run in my pc. actually, the screencapture was a little blurred so i superimposed the clear image with hte white background and subtracted all the white. i do think it looks the best it can.

I don't think that's the sort of thing we want. best keep that for places like /b where depravity runs rife.

ha ha , those are pretty crazy!

heh heh, yeah I think it would be good to classify by company, or classify by channel. or classify by year. actually to be honest, I cannot see us having a lot of information on some of these old shows.. unless we start to get more people contributing.

it's the bright colours. think about the boukengers.. and that kinda... 'base' that they have. and all those garish bright colours, it's like one of those messed up kids shows.

I've created a kind of list of programs arranged by year. I made it as a template to save making the tokusatsu page too large. it can be edited as normal. it just edits teh template page rather than tokusatsu page. I'm not all that familiar with the majority of these programs so there are probably many corrections to be made.

i couldn't be sure, but i think dekaranger was free from the influence of disney. i didn't actually like dekaranger, but it still seemed like proper super sentai to me. it was when magiranger started, I started to notice some peculiar changes. this continued all the way until go-onger. then go-oner seemed to seem more like proper super sentai again. I don't think it was a very strong series to be honest but it did seem to contain the proper elements at least. so for me, the infection seems to be present for magiranger, boukenger and gekiranger... I characterise this by what i call the 'tellytubby land' syndrome. dekared will be familiar with me using this term

ha ha, well i thought you might find it interesting anyway

yeah, I heard that blade is supposed to be really good. but for some reason i have never gotten past the part where blade faces off against chalice in that warehouse.. and all those numbers are going up on that machine. i've reached there a few times but for some reason never got past it. it's kinda odd.

to be completely honest, I have always thought this is all due to disney messing with bandai. since disney became involved with bandai, super squadron shows changed. they becamer more like power rangers and no longer satisfied the same target audience. I believe this threw the whole tokusatsu genre into a farore, there has been othr series becoming more like what super squadron used to be. tomica hero rescue fire is very much like what i used to love about super squadron. and before that, masked rider became more like that. it is true that super squadron have been much better with shinkenger... i wonder if this marks a change in direction for tokusatsu again?

pro's and con's.. yeah sure, there always are.. i think the most common pro when things seem to go bad is that anything that comes later seems so much better. also, in a way, people get chance to calm down and have some rest time. as you stated some very good movies... what we should remember is that sometimes a movie has to be out a while before it can be considered worthy. because freshness of a movie can sometimes cloud us. are we just caught up in hte excitement or are we really appreciating the full aspect of teh film, story and all. I wanted to see terminator salvation in hte movie house but i could not find a partner. (it's cheaper if i go with someone to 'orange wednesday' promotion) i think there can be problems sometimes though.. the movie house may decide not to play hte movies that are actually good story and will use promotionals on movies that have flashy trailers. there will still be a lot of good movies made in each year, but you will not always get the exposure.

okay well while i edit the site and follow what you are doing, please bear in mind i have not watched blade. I do plan to watch it just have not yet.

of course there is a countermove. it's already happening. I know lots of people who will download a movie and watch it before deciding wether or not to pay the price of a cinema ticket.
-
I think this is also to do with risk. the film studios at the moment are playing it safe with the same formula that has been working for them. they don't want to risk in investing in something new and interesting, they are concentrating on bringing the money in. this is why indipendant films are the new interesting movies. indipendants do it because they are passionate. studios look at what attracts punters. big name stars, amazing special effects etc. the stuff that you CANNOT tell about without going to actually watch the movie.. i.e. the story... gets sacrificed. they do it because they can get away with it. once you actually watch the movie, they already have your money.

if you think about the worlds, there are normally a person representing the original character., perhaps there is a replacement character in this world but somehow there is ALSO the original.

A big difference has been in peoples ability to uinderstand visual language. storytelling practices have changed to fit in with more sophisticated viewers. if a person from 1920 watched a film from this year they would not be able to understand the story. because there are things we take for granted that these people did not.

Woah! what's that wierd vehicle? it's like a bus on rails...? or a train with tyres...? I've never seen anything like it!
-
the DVD I have is I think possibly the same as you have. I think i burnt them from downloaded episodes. I can't check it since my pc won't read the disc. however, the "Board Of Archaeological Research Department" does shorten to 'B.O.A.R.D.' which i believe is the name used in the series. is it perhaps shown on a sign somewhere?

okay, I see what you're saying. that makes sense however... when referring to a person I would never say 'creature' to describe mysterious or unfavourable. as we know from japanese society, a strange or mysterious person is viewed unfavourably. hence gaijin. so kaijin is definately not a kind term. in english, the connotation of mysterious or strange is not nearly as negative as it is in japanese culture. i would never say strange man, that just doesn't sound very suitable at all. you say kaiju means strange beast or monster... well kaijin could mean strange man or monster. because in english, 'monster' can be attributed to both man and beast alike. I think using mopnster would be quite suitable when looking at it this way.

it's all good. I'm sure that if anyone has any ideas they will help out. I've tried to do what i can.
