durendal Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Perhaps you would like to check out this link for the leaked images of the next Kamen Rider, which I think will be called Wizard. http://www.gideonburogu.com/2012/06/kamen-rider-wizard-leak-image-revealed.html Quote
Toku Warrior Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Hey, I'm loving the new design. It's very simple and not bulky or clunky like Fourze and Meteor and Birth. It looks like it mixes designs from many different Riders like Faiz, Orga, Kabuto, Den-O, Hibiki and maybe a little Kiva. And a gimmick system based on magic rings. I think I might like it. Like many other Rider fans, I hope they give it a bit more of a darker concept than the past few series. Maybe somewhere along the lines of Kuuga possible. Here, the staff for the show: Director is Shojiro Nakazawa, head director for Mahou Sentai Magiranger, Jyuken Sentai Gekiranger, Samurai Sentai Shinkenger, and Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger along with working on a few episodes of Tokumei Sentai Gobusters. The writer is Kida Tsuyoshi, head writer for the first half of Kamen Rider Hibiki. The producer is Taakaki Utsunomiya, he produced Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger and Samurai Sentai Shinkenger. The vocalist for Golden Bomber, Kiriyuin Shou is doing the opening. Current official website: http://www.tv-asahi.co.jp/wizard/ Also: Shunya Shiraishi, the new leader actor, plays Souma Haruto aka Kamen Rider Wizard. “I’m proud to take on the mantle of Kamen Riderâ€. Okunaka Makoto, member of the idol band PASSPO, is the heroine of the series. She’s described as “Koyomi, the mysterious girlâ€. Junki Tozuka plays a character he hopes will show candid emotions on screen. Yuko Takayama plays a newbie detective by the name of Daimon Riko. Kamen Rider Wizard has four forms: the red Flame Style, the blue Water Style, the green Hurricane Style, and the yellow Land style. The hangout for the series is an antique shop which is run by Shigeru Kajima, played by Hisahiro Ogura. Quote
Toku Warrior Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 And some more rumor info I found from Rising Sun Tokusatsu. Apparently, this backstory was released at the press conference. In 2011, Kamen Rider Fourze celebrated the 40th anniversary of Kamen Rider as a franchise. He went into space and appealed to young viewers with the power of friendship. The show incorporating new ideas and topics, even using a school as the setting for the very first time. This time around, the Rider for 2012 is a magician who transforms into Kamen Rider Wizard with the power of his rings to fight the evil “Apparationsâ€. The design takes various concepts into mind such as the face of a ring as well as general mystic themes. Souma Haruto/Kamen Rider Wizard played by Shunya Shiraishi Souma Haruto hides his true self under a lighter, easily-amused persona. His favorite food is donuts. Koyomi played by Okunaka Makoto Koyomi is a strange but fragile girl with a mysterious past, but is she a human or something else? She’s at the center of the mystery revolving around this series. She also tends to the act as support for the others through her ability to tell the future. Due to her low blood pressure, she seems to always be low on tension. Shunpei Nara played by Junki Tozuka A young man who aspires to become a magician and find a great master. Although he wants to be able to help people, he’s usually not able to. Though he can be a bit of a trouble maker at times, he has a cheerful personality. Daimon Riko played by Yuko Takayama A rookie detective from the Metropolitan Police Department who becomes associated with those involved in demonic activities. She finds it suspicious that the police are not actively working against the demons and tries to help the others from the inside. Shigeru Wajima played by Hisahiro Ogura He is the creator of the magic rings Haruto uses to become Wizard. Wajima becomes the caretaker for Haruto and Koyomi who have been living together. Haruto helps him by testing out the different rings. Kamen Rider Wizard fights enemies that are born on the day of a solar eclipse during an ancient ceremony. Haruto and Koyomi survive the solar eclipse, Haruto disguises himself as Kamen Rider Wizard with the transformation tools given to him by a mysterious white magician. Now, embuded with this strange power, it becomes his fate to fight demons. Beyond the creation of the evil demons, what was the purpose of the ceremony on the day of the solar eclipse? And what does the hero’s future hold now that he has been fated to fight as Wizard? The story filled with mystery, excitement and interesting characters will unfold in the autumn of 2012 as Kamen Rider Wizard begins. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted June 27, 2012 Author Posted June 27, 2012 thanks guys it's hard not to be negative about kamen rider after fourze.... I want to say, I am finding it difficult to take it seriously when the suit is supposedly made by 'some guy' using 'space magic' or 'magic' or 'yummy magic' etc. I was rather partial to a kamen rider system that actually made sense, having been developed by scientists in a well funded organisation with plenty of resources for such an advanced technology. ah well, at least we have a half decent design. it's still looking a bit cheap but production has fixed that in the past. I seem to remember past designs looking cheap in initial publicity shots. the design is interesting, looking very much like hibiki to me. Quote
Matt Bellamy Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Will definately going to give this one a shot. Can kind of already see how he will use the belt... Though the hand print on the buckle is kind of tacky, but fitting if it works the way I think it will. The suit IS kind of plain, and does scream Den-O in overall looks and/or idea, but it doesn't actually look BAD IMO ( like Fourze... ugh) How much you want to bet the other forms each use a different weapon too?...lol Quote
LordSpleach Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Kinda of looks like Faiz with a long coat and 'cracked' visor. I wish it was going to be a ninja though like the older rumors had, and wished he wasn't called Wizard but Magus. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted June 28, 2012 Author Posted June 28, 2012 do you mean 'maagasu' or 'majutsuji' (japanese for magus) Quote
*Jess♥ Posted June 28, 2012 Author Posted June 28, 2012 there is some footage of him in action I found myself laughing as I watched this. that means I like it Quote
LordSpleach Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 do you mean 'maagasu' or 'majutsuji' (japanese for magus) Yes, or something other than a generic Wizard. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted August 9, 2012 Author Posted August 9, 2012 interesting. the style reminds me of kamen rider kabuto. unexpected since i thought it would be more reminiscent of kiva. it's good that it looks to be of a more mature appeal. Quote
Aether Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 (edited) oh dear this reminds me i havent watched either of the KR series i aquired yet anyway watching that trailer it looks kinda cool... is it just me or is the way that the KR guy looks at his ring really quite creepy??? (esp at 58 secs) Edited August 10, 2012 by Aether Quote
odin Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 (edited) Well I watched the first episode of wizard yesterday and my first impression is : Not bad, it established who are the bad-guys, who is the good guy as well as his abilities. The special effects where nice too although I am not too fond of his singing belt except for the part where it says Please which did not make sense until I remember that "Please is the magic word" which made me chuckle a bit. PROS Monster design. Wizards design: simple but effective. Special Effects. A Magic belt saying Please. Wizards abilities and toys are very interesting. Choreograhy was pretty nice. Dat Rider Kick. Cons The plot so far seems very predictable as well as you can basically figure out things that are bound to happen later in the series taken from other series like Faiz or Ozu. The exposition and the acting seemed a little forced but got the job done. Another singing belt, not a very good one either (at least for me), it will take some time for me to get used to it. Wtf "Life is Showtime" make no freaking sense.. Edited September 3, 2012 by odin Quote
*Jess♥ Posted September 3, 2012 Author Posted September 3, 2012 what are you watching? I will generally wait for tvnihon to release it. I like what they do. Quote
odin Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Overtime subs, they are usually the first ones to sub kamen rider episodes and super sentai as well, the only drawback is that they don't put those stylized subs to make it more appealing like TV nihon does, their translations are pretty good in my opinion. *Jess♥ Posted September 7, 2012 Author Posted September 7, 2012 ok seen it. really not sure what to make of it. it wasn't awful. it's certainly not fourze. the concept of not giving in to despair is a powerful one and something i think a lot of us can relate to. though ,the trip into dream world was a bit... ehhh i think i could do without too much more of that. I'm not totally loving wizard, but i don't have any strong negative feelings about it either. it could be a grower. or it could just be boring. I'd prefer to assume it will turn out to be interesting. indeed the kick was cool. I also like the "hi hi hi hi", I don't know if it was deliberate, but it sounds like he is laughing! actually the sounds are rather playful. kinda fun. sha ba do be tachi henshin! he he Quote
odin Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 One thing I can say for sure, I'm not too fond of the music, it just does not give me that feel that we are dealing with magic, does not feel mystical at all and the opening song seems off to me, even tho Fourze was an average series I loved its music a lot, maybe if I hear the lirycs to this new opening I will change my mind a bit but in the mean time i don't really like it since i was hoping something in the lines of this: or this: Quote
*Jess♥ Posted September 7, 2012 Author Posted September 7, 2012 ah! I see the comparison with fairy tail is unavoidable isn't it I could never get into it, but that first music is really nice. oh yes, I remember now, I did get a distinct feeling of kamen rider double from this along the way. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpiYGf98xqI Quote
odin Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 yea, I heard it recently and I still don't like it, it just feels off. Quote
odin Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Here is the opening sequence to the series, no subs yet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoDuP0E0iaE&feature=share Quote
LordSpleach Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 I have to watch a second episode to see if I like it. And I didn't expect so many spells in the first episode. Quote
Aether Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 i watched the first ep and i liked it. slick production and all the wizardry associated stuff was cool. problem is i havent watched any KR before it yet, so i have nothing to compare it to and then there was an even bigger problem ..... i just felt as if i was watching Gobusters but with 1 hero doing 'magic'. all the slickness, effects etc. just reminded me so much of Gobusters. i dont think i can watch this and Gobusters within the same period of time its all too similar, so im gonna have to choose. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 who's still watching this? what are your thoughts on it? I'm not thrilled by it to be honest. in fact i'm finding it rather boring. it sort of seems like a cheap copy of what OOO did. the way the bad guys are behaving it looks just like the greed. and i just don't see anything else about it so far that is in any way interesting. they just seem to be going through the motions. even fourze was more interesting. it's sad... this is what has become of kamen rider. they are just using carbon copy plot and premise as an excuse to make a tonne of stupid little robots and other things that can be sold in the toy shop. I've got no huge problem with it being essentially a long toy advert, but it needs to be a tv program on top of that. even the design of him... with fourze I hated it, but at least that was an emotional response. with wizard I find that I don't really care so much. in a sense, that is a lot worse.
