" A top-ranking North Korean military official has threatened a nuclear strike on the White House and Pentagon after accusing Washington of raising military tensions on the Korean peninsula."

Okay, so I heard on the news that North Korea just threatened to blow America up for the 50th time. First it was Kim Jong Un threatening to Nuke Hawaii and Japan. Now this.

I have no idea why America or mainly China tolerates this kind of behavior. All North Korea does is make one threat after the other.

Seriously. This country is in need of a new forced government.

They've been threatening to nuke Washington D.C. for over a year. This video was last year. They're still threatening to nuke Washington.

What is everyone's take on this?

Because N. Korea's leaders are full of drenn.  They've threatened to arrest people who've criticized the regime in films parodying it and such, and the regime knows that they're kinda screwed because even former allies Russia and China see that leadership as making N. Korea a rogue nation that they don't want to deal with.  One of the reasons everyone in N. Korea is so poor out side of the government is because of the sanctions that the UN and others have imposed there.

So far, those guys in N.Korea have been all blow and no show, and I do think that they know better than to even think of backing up their hollow threats, because then they'd be really screwed.

But China won't tolerate all-out invasion because North Korea has nukes.

Now if China invaded and took care of this...

But their policy has always been absolute respect for national sovereignty.

you can't force change. change has to come from within.

just look at the mess in the middle east.

it's all due to the meddling of the US, UK and other European countries.

I should add that North Korea is always full of this rhetoric. It's a lot of hot air most of the time. You can't start a war with words. now if North Korea actually made a military strike there would be a different response.

What about North Korea taking people captive?

They've detained American tourist. North Korea has boarded Chinese fishing boats and have arrested and detained Chinese fisherman.

How come its okay for North Korea to take hostages, but when the Taliban takes hostages, America goes over to the Middle East in response with enough ammo and missils to make them wish they hadn't gone through the trouble?

How come it's okay for the US to take hostages and torture them and force feed them without any charges ever being made?

The US doesn't go over to the middle east to take back the hostages. They just use that as an EXCUSE.

They are hypocrites, war mongers, thieves, indiscriminate murderers, cohorts with mass genocide-rs (israel), betrayers, they spy on their own people, treat them like criminals, treat their allies like enemies, violate international laws, they bleed dry anyone that they can without remorse all for the benefit of their pay masters.

Do you really think they would actually do something in North Korea, a country with hardly any power and nearly zero riches? let's just wait until oil is found in North Korea and watch the US suddenly realise they need to start a 'humanitarian' mission.

Note:
The US I refer to is the political entity comprising of a government and military organisation. NOT the American people.

The reason North Korea remains as it is, is fairly simple. Originally a tool of communist expansion, it's no longer in a position. It stopped being one since the 90's.

It's a political tool, a loose cannon type at that. It's used by China to throw off most of it's neighbors who compete with it's claims to resources, land, and in a way acts a buffer against the American influence there. Also, North Korea is a nice source of labor for China, who despite having low wages, can outsource work to even lower wages. North Korea is in a way, a state that exists solely to justify the sphere of influences for both, and even the US. In other words, it's a proxy.

Don't be fooled though, though North Korea is not a true threat to the world, it's not a pushover either. Many view it as just a toothless dog controlled by China, but it's not. It's army, training, and strategic location means that China, has several things to exploit in a war. North Korea would also be a costly thing to try and change or take. All those troops, even if armed with only bricks could bog down any invasion. It's strategic location means it can act as a threat or buffer to any country depending on it's own needs or china's. It's nuclear program is a shoddy set up, but possibly a collateral that can never be risked.

Even if the government is seen as insane, inept, and stupid. It's probably done on purpose, not only to maintain power, but also to show anyone that it's a cornered dog with rabies to it's enemies. Taken seriously or not, no one wants to risk that chance all of it is real. Even China, plays along with this. Claiming it has influence, but also no control. No one is entirely sure how much a hold China has on that country, but it's clear that China would like to take any advantage it can to gain some ground in international politics.

So there you have it, a country that is really, just an anomaly. Kept that way by everything around it. It's weird, the Korean people were never truly divided, until international affairs split it in two. Everyone wants to rejoin, but no one can move while it's leaders, and backers, are played off against each other.

When it comes down to it, to the eyes of many Koreans, America and China are the culprits for this split. Maybe they are right, for better or worse, they probably wouldn't be divided otherwise.

Be careful Yuki...  While I do agree with you on a majority of what you said about my government, do not label all of us Americans in the same category.

Would you like a basic run down on how politicians get into capital hill? They get sponsors with lots of money (aka big corporations/oil companies) and they lie out their @$$es to the public.  It's why Obama hasn't been impeached yet, and why we keep finding ourselves in a civil war we're not wanted in.  Another thing: while the federal government does spy on us, the states have issued rewards for shot down drones in retaliation (gotta love the power of the individual state).  So, do you now get the general idea of why nothing gets done or things go to hell?

As for the N. Korea threats, unless they've proven themselves a serious threat that could start WW3, we really can't do anything without getting serious backlash from the UN.
