BlackEpyon Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 (edited) From the last few seconds of the previous season, weren't they trying to use proto type Gundams to continue on? Wouldn't it make sense then that the Gundam's wouldn't be as complex? Maybe the simplified designs are a part of the plot in that regard, and not just a marketing ploy. Which is really different, that the series is challenging the marketing campaign, and finding imaginative ways in the story to come up with new toys to sell. I mean, the 'new more advanced mech that appears from nowhere' plot tool has been done to death. Trying to improve outdated tech and make it more advanced is now more interesting. I believe you are talking about the 00 Gundam, which in my personally opinon may have been designed and built during the development of the 3rd Gen Gundams, but production was scrapped due to it's dangerous potientials (sort of like the Wing Gundam Zero in Gundam Wing). The 0 Gundam is now being retro-fitted, weither or not we will see it in action in Season 2 is anybody's guess. Edited August 23, 2008 by IceGuyver Quote
Wiedergänger Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 New trailer out...http://youtube.com/watch?v=5B-Afc2SEGc&feature=related Nah but seriously http://youtube.com/watch?v=P-yBPjYJdeY&feature=related Also, I hate 00 design: It's just Exia in armor! Lazy ass model designers. You'd think they'd learn with all the crappy series they made in the 80s. Last, I love this song! I have two of teh trailers in 720p with subs if you want them =P Quote
Matt Bellamy Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 In case people haven;t seen the poor handcam'd version of this yet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-T7ELrTDmWk Shows a bit more of what a couple of the main cast are up to right at the begining of season 2. Damaged Exia, with a cloak? A modified Red GN-X? Allelujah captured? Gundam 00 launching! Quote
*V Guyver Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 thanks for posting that. And it's a weird plot design to have lockon replaced with a twin brother - according to newtype magazine. Quote
Matt Bellamy Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 2 new scans with some action poses of the new Gundams and GN-X's Gotta say, so far I still don't like Cherudim or Seravee that much... But Arios's transformation looks pretty damn slick. Looks like Gundam 00 might still have 7 swords... those additions to the shoulder pieces look like they could be swords or Shield swords in disguise. Where the 7th sword could come from, who knows. And YES, that is a Gundam head on Seravee's back. What does it mean? Nothing good... there has only been 1 Gundam gattai, and that was the Grand Master Gundam from G Gundam... and it was pretty hideous... I hope to god they are not attempting a Gundam Gattai... The GN-XIII's are pretty much what we saw at the end of episode 25... with color differences ( Probably just like how Graham's uniform changes colors from the prievew in 25, to the new previews we've seen), but still look pretty good. I don't really like the Code Geass inspired lances though... The "Ahead" definately looks awkward... but pretty badass at the same time ( espeically since we saw a bit of it in action in one of the previews). It seems like this is the next step in Tieren design, rather than staying with the designs used by the GN-X's. I wonder if we will see a true GN-Flag this time around, rather than the quick job that it was in season 1 ( but I still loved it ) Quote
BlackEpyon Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 (edited) Thanks for the pictures, Matt_Bellamy! The 4th Gen Gundams look cool, I like the fact that they are now better armored than the 3rd Gen models. The fact that the GN Drive (aka Solar Furnest) was exposed partly at the front of the Gundam was not a good idea. I'm glad the designers have designed to equip them with better armor this around. I'm not surprise that Lyle would be taking Neil places as LockOn Stratos, that process seem like an no brainer. The 00 Gundam looks very interesting I believe the suit maybe equipped with an weapon system similar to the Exia's Seven Sword system. I like the fact that the Cheridum (Dynames replacement model) now has the option of switching it's primary weapon, the beam sniper rifle to an beam sub machine gun. I'm hoping the Seravee can purge it's armor and reveal an Nadaleeh MKII. The Arios kinda looks like the Wing Gundam Ver Ka, with the HeavyArms Head and an different paintjob. The GNX-704T looks like an big piece of crap! It is by far the worst designed mobile suit I have ever seen. Edited September 10, 2008 by IceGuyver Quote
*V Guyver Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 Yeah, i loved the flags, especially that last one towards the end with the fake GN drive. Yeah it looked like it was gonna fall apart, but it was still cool. Quote
Toku Warrior Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Well, I just watched the whole first season both yesterday and today and I must say that I was most definently impressed. Is it me, or does anyone else feel like there may be a Gundam Wing-like feel between Setsuna and Ismail like there was with Heero and Relina? I'm glad Setsuna is still alive but I wonder if he'll turn against Celestial Being. I'll say this, MSG OO had me in actual tears in the last few episodes of the first season. I also feel sorry for Saji and Louise cuz now they really can't live normal lives after the Gundam incedent. Well, next Sunday, season two kickstarts so here's hoping for a good season that ends the series well and hopefully not leave things in a cliffhanger with a messed up sequal series like Gundam Seed. Quote
*V Guyver Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 yeah, many people came to that same conclusion. Tons of similar things, sort of how Gundam SEED was practically a remake of the original series. Quote
*V Guyver Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 I like that concept. Perhaps on TIVO they may end up doing that. Not sure about digital TV or cable/satellite though. The option to see Anime and other programs on TV without englush dubs would be pretty good, just switch to the options you like and everyone wins. Anyone remember when the new season starts? Was it October 5th? Quote
Matt Bellamy Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Topic has been split up. All English Dub discussion of Gundam 00 has been moved here: http://www.japan-legend.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1658 This will now be the Japanese release topic only, and continuing with season 2. I like that concept. Perhaps on TIVO they may end up doing that. Not sure about digital TV or cable/satellite though. The option to see Anime and other programs on TV without englush dubs would be pretty good, just switch to the options you like and everyone wins.Anyone remember when the new season starts? Was it October 5th? Yep, it was moved to a Sunday timeslot, rather than a Saturday timeslot that it had for Season 1. So October 5th is the date for the first episode. Quote
*V Guyver Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 ahh, then we'll have new material to babble about in a day or two afterwords. (one subs are made) provided subbers have the time now that summer is over. I'm actualy glad over the time skip, the characters are actualy going to be of proper age for once. Quote
Matt Bellamy Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 New short preview. Nothing really new this time around, except we get to see Damaged Exia fight a little more ( and we see that his GN Blade was broken too). Quote
Toku Warrior Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Anyone remember when the new season starts? Was it October 5th? Well Matt already beat me to it by mentioning it but I was gonna say refer to my sig cuz I have the start date posted in it. Quote
durendal Posted September 29, 2008 Author Posted September 29, 2008 Aye, it's next week already. I've seen the preview of Gundam 00 unit from plastic models currently available on toy stores. Looks very impressive. Quote
durendal Posted October 2, 2008 Author Posted October 2, 2008 Woohoo! It's coming this Sunday. I wonder who is going to sub this. Quote
Toku Warrior Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 I forget, who subbed it last time cuz I think two different groups did cuz some of the way the subs look were different as the episodes progressed? IMO, I would like to see maybe yuurian-subs, shinsen-subs, s.s. eclipse, DATS, or m.3.3.w do this season cuz those 5 groups do excellent jobs at fan-subbing a series. I would say chihiro but I think of them more for the highschool drama, romance, and comedy animes than I would action and sci-fi anime. Quote
durendal Posted October 2, 2008 Author Posted October 2, 2008 I wish there would be a decent group that can sub this fast with quality. I'd hate to have different subbers for one series. Quote
Matt Bellamy Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 I went with Menclave for the first season... but near the end I only used them for archiving purposes. They started off really good, then turned to crap with speed. I guess we just gotta see who is the fastest. Though, I personally cannot get any .mkv releases, not until I get a new computer... this one is going on 5 years... and it cannot play them at all. So that usually effects my watching habits. Quote
durendal Posted October 3, 2008 Author Posted October 3, 2008 I don't mind about the quality issues. As long as they stick as close as possible to the translations. It's a little bit difficult to watch something where what you read and hear are totally different. So far, I have no qualms with speedsubs, I just don't like to get inconsistent with my archives, since its really a pain to rename and sort them. Quote
Renegade Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 I just saw it and damn! thump yea! Lasse survived just like predicted! Every boring or shallow character has depth now. But best of all, Soma has bewbs now! Quote
Matt Bellamy Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Yeah, I watched the raw myself... - Kinda don't like how quickly Setsuna is going to get the Double-O... I figured it'll be 2 or 3 episodes before we even saw it. Oh well. - Seravee's back opens to a full Gundam head... but seems to be only a GN Field Generator? The Possibility of having 6 cannons is pretty badass though. - Seems now that Setsuna is back in the fold, he's going to be going out and gathering the "fallen" members of Celestial Being... - Louise... seems to be having serious mental problems... I hope she isn't just in "Arrows" because of Libbons... I'd like to see her actually fight. - As expected, the sorta crappy looking lineart means nothing for the A-Head... It was pretty badass. - Poor Exia... but definitely shows that now that the government has the Tau Drives, they too can improve on their designs. CB will just have to show them up =P - Saji captured by CB... but doesn't look like he'll join anytime soon. - Marina's former aide seems to be part of the anti-government resistence... Will wait to comment more once some decent subs are out. Quote
Toku Warrior Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Hey Matt, if ya can't view mkv's what about MP4's? I found subbed version of Eps.1 in mkv, MP4, and in AVI format (the subs in the avi where a little off time in the beginning but there got better after a few minutes). I'm DL both the RAW version and the subbed version (RAW for stock footage purposes cuz ya never know when I'll want to make an AMV to this season) but for the subbed version I'm using one of the mkv's cuz it came out better. Quote
Matt Bellamy Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Wow, some good subs out real quick. So it turns out Lyle actually works for the other Anti-Government group that is opposing the "Arrows" ( Until I see some official source calling them otherwise, I will be calling them Arrows)... so he's not just a civilian. It was kind of a weird piece after the song ( I wonder if that was End or OP footage), but it oddly wasn't the "Preview for next ep"... Very weird. Pretty much my other statements from my previous post stand... Hey Matt, if ya can't view mkv's what about MP4's? I found subbed version of Eps.1 in mkv, MP4, and in AVI format (the subs in the avi where a little off time in the beginning but there got better after a few minutes).I'm DL both the RAW version and the subbed version (RAW for stock footage purposes cuz ya never know when I'll want to make an AMV to this season) but for the subbed version I'm using one of the mkv's cuz it came out better. I watched most of Macross Frontier in MP4. It seems to work real well too. I just tend to prefer AVI. Thankfully Menclave (Mendoi-Conclave) has picked up Gundam 00 Season 2, and seem to be actually putting it out at a decent time. So I will be sticking with them, as that is who I also used for season 1 (well most of it). Quote
