through various modes of research we can discover the true meaning of our names.

 

I've long known the meaning of my first name, xxx. it means xxx.

I decided to check my other names today though.

 

my second name xxx, is from xxx.

 

my family name  is Kendrick and comes from old welsh ap cynwrig.

ap means 'child of' and cynwrig is a given name derived from celtic words meaning 'the likeness of a heroic chief'

 

so it's all rather nice and I do so love my names.

essentially my full names means 'xxx of the heroic chief' and it is all derived from my culture.. sort of. well gaelic is a branch off of celtic so they are very closely related and that's good enough for me!

I am still figuring out the meaning of my full name but I know that Marcelino means "Young warrior" I checked on this page http://www.houseofnames.com/first-name.asp and it says that your second name is a latin variation of mine. other meanings that I found for my name is "warlike, hammer, god of war, mars"

 

as for my last name Febus, it supposedly means Brewster.

as for Méndez it means "son or descendant of Mendel or Mendo" and those mean Knowledge, Wisdom.

My First Name: Aaron - Seems to be more associated with Hebrew and Arabic.  In Hebrew it means  "to sing, to shine, to teach"; also "a mountain, light, enlightened".  In Arabic it means "a messenger".  However the name seems to have origins in several other cultures.  

 

My Last Name: Link - Originated from Germany and means either "Left Handed" or "One who is clumsy or awkward".  Link and Left Handed is kind of ironic for those who follow the Legend of Zelda series.

He is always Left handed, with the exception of Skyward sword and the wii version of twilight princess, hence why I'm asking of why it is Ironic since it looks like that the name is actually appropriate.

I meant that the meaning of Link in German is Left Handed and Link being more or less left handed in the Zelda games which was also completely unintentional by Nintendo.  That's what I meant by it being ironic.

My full name can mean a lot, can make a weird title indeed.

Vitor(Victor): Champion, Winner, Conqueror

Bruno: Brown or more likely Shield/Armor

Resende: Son of Resendo

Viana: Who Lives,To Live, To Be alive.

Edit: learned that there is a visigoth/portuguese form to bruno and added it, more likely the real meaning in my name. Resende is also a Visigoth/Portuguese name and Viana is a variation of an Latin/germanic name while Vitor is a latin name.

So my name can have several interpretations.

"Champion, Brown Son of Resendo Who Lives" XD

or

"Conqueror Armor, Son of Resendo, Who lives."

The history of the names are interesting, considering the ethnic origins of a region, the names can say a good deal. My names alone show the legacy of the Roman and Visigoth invasions of Lusitanian lands.

Name:

Igor (Игорь) - one version says it is originated from Norse name Ingvar.

 

Ing - the name of Norse God: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yngvi and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freyr

 

Varr - means combative/warlike/host

 

The other unpopular version making it related to Celtic names Iger, Inger, Ingar, Ingereld, Ingerard.

 

Surname:

Taradaynik / Taradainik (Тарадайник) - only version I found says it is originated from the same Ukrainian nickname describing a man who making "light two-wheeled carriages" called in Ukrainian language "taradayka" (тарадайка). It is really rare surname and it is hard for people to write it properly

 

And "A" in my surname is pronounced as "U" in word "BUT". I'll try to make related audio file later.

I had no idea there were to versions to the Igor name in language origins. I have a friend who has the Portuguese variant of the Celtic one. Ighor

Do you think this still applies today?  I mean, a lot of people no longer think deeply about the names of their child.  With the likes of North West (Kanye West) and Queen Elizabeth (Manny Pacqiao), it makes me think that people are now too lazy to think of names for their child.

 

For us, we are required to think carefully on the names of our children, as aside from an English name, we have to give them a Chinese name.  English names are easy, but for Chinese names, you have to be careful with the characters you use.  Like a simple name such as Anna, we have to write it in a way that it literally means Safe and graceful.
