*Jess♥ Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Utawarerumono, I watched that one, I recall it was very good, some really good strategy and intriguing backstory. can't recall any of the details though as it was quite a while back. I guess while enjoyable, it was ultimately forgettable. Quote
durendal Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Ah yes, Record of Lodoss War. It's like watching Dungeons and Dragon anime style. It's also one of the best anime that I have ever seen, the story is very interesting with plots and the characters are just lovable. You just gotta love Parn X Deedit. Quote
Guest Black Inferno Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Indeed Record of Lodoss War is a great show. The art work is just astounding to say the least. Characters are great-as well as villains. Ashram always comes to mind when I think of the show. Oddly enough it reminds me of Slayers, another enjoyable series but not quite as enriching as Record of Lodoss War. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 now getting started with bakemonogatari. I've been watching blogs on nisemongatari for a while and it has caught my interest so i am getting the first series before watching that one. it looks very interesting, the art style is very unique and the music is nice. also, in the first scene there is a panty shot. *V Guyver Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 been catching up to naruto and bleach. As for new anime, finished Heroic Age. Was fantastic Quote
Jade Tatsu Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Heroic Age is beautiful. Just finished Witch Hunter Robin and currently am watching: Mouretsu Uchuu Kaizoku (Bodacious Space Pirates) Wagnaria Fushigi Yuugi (again I KNOW) Denou Coil Ouran Host Club One Piece (ALWAYS!) Will probably replace Witch Hunter Robin with either Ergo Proxy or Monster. I know they are older but meh sometimes it's nice to look back. Quote
Cannibal Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Watching Sket Dance. Now on 15-th episode - it is awesome, reminds me Gintama (this "absurd+failed missions" made me laugh). Other episodes was nice too, but not quite what I was expecting (was expecting gintama-like madness ) Quote
durendal Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 I've only recently finished watching Gundam AGE. As I have mentioned in the shout box, it was a satisfactory Gundam series. I hope that they don't repeat the fiasco that was Seed Destiny. After Gundam 00, AGE seems to be a fine successor. You just gotta love the Gundam AGE-2 Normal. That's one sexy Gundam. I hope that the next Gundam series will still be a good one. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 maybe one day i'll get into gundam? I have been watching natsume yuujinchou. really love it. I've completed the first two seasons and i'm on the third. I am sad that i will eventually catch up because it is so lovely. it reminds me of ushio to tora. I think i can really relate to this type of look into japanese mythology with the spirits and all that. Quote
odin Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 The only anime I'm watching at the moment aside from One Piece is Sword Art Online, it is a pretty good series where the protagonist and thousands of people buy a new MMO called sword art online where you use a head gear and you go to a virtual reality world in your mind but the creator suddenly makes the game into something serious where if you die in the game you die in real life and you can't have someone from the real world remove the headgear cause it is triggered to fry your brain if it is tampered, the only way to go back to the real world is to beat the game making the players look for ways to go back, this series deals with a lot of psychological scenarios as well as depicting how the mmo culture works , i definitely recommend this series, one of the best i have seen in a while, still on going at the moment but it is still worth the watch. 1 Quote
durendal Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 My friend. Thank you for the suggestion. I have tried watching episode 1 of Sword Art Online and I love it. I can relate to this anime as I myself am also an MMO player. Now for me to hunt down the light novel. Quote
durendal Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Wow, as it turns out, Baka-Tsuki has the light novels up to volume 10. Nice. And I can't believe how similar my playing style with Kirito is. I can really relate to this series. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 that does sound awesome. I spoke to my friend about it over the weekend. he is a big wow player and I used to play it a lot. so we should be able to relate to it easily. I have a few things to watch at the moment so I was uncertain whether i could have this one going as well. how many different series do yo think it's ok to spread your attention? Quote
durendal Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Well, I think it would be best to concentrate on one series at a time. The last time I spread my attention to a lot of anime (I think its close to decades ago), I wasn't able to finish some of them. Since I just finished watching Gundam AGE, I have no other anime that I am currently watching. That's just me, so I'm not sure how it will apply to you. Although I am reading the novel simultaneously while watching the anime. I just finished episode 1 last night and I'm already to the point where 2 years has already passed in the novel. Wow. I just gotta say wow to this series. Even by just reading the novel, I can't stop thinking about how great this series is. This is not a cutesy series mind you, as Odin has mentioned, there are psychological stuff at work here. You might not get this, but just reading about the dual wielding, WOW, it gave me an excitement that I haven't felt since a long time ago. When Odin mentioned this, I did a youtube search of the series. Sad to say, none of the youtube videos did justice to this series. You have to watch and digest the story in order to truly appreciate Sword Art Online. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 I don't know, back when i used to play WoW, I got quite into it. I actually went on a few raids too. I kinda understand where you are coming from when you talk about dual wielding. When I used to play WoW, it was a real game. not any of this stuff they have nowadays where they hold your hand and give you all your major moves at level 2. I had to work hard to get my riding skill. I had to pass 40 levels before i could even qualify. and to go up one level would take almost a week playing. Quote
odin Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Glad you are liking it Durendal, I have not read the novel yet just watching the anime first but I will probably take a shot at reading it to compare the differences if any, I for one just watch as much as I can in terms of series, I take one day off dedicated just for that but different people have different ways of watching series, I would suggest you find the way the fits you best Ryuki. Quote
durendal Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Well, I was watching the anime and reading the novel simultaneously, and there are many scenes in the anime that was not in the novel, while some scenes that are revealed later in the novel are shown early in the anime (Sachi). The "dual-wielding" really impressed me and I am waiting to see it in the anime. It's not just about attaining the skill, but more like the feeling of how a nobody did something so epic. Quote
Cannibal Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Folowing now: Ongoing: One Piece Hunter X Hunter Remake Toriko Space Brothers Hakuouki: Reimei-roku Muv Luv Total Eclipse Code: Breaker Bakuman Robotics;Notes Naruto Shippuuden Fairy Tail Zetsuen no Tempest Ended series: Hyouka - on 21 episode Just finished watching: Accel World Sket Dance La storia della Arcana Famiglia Quote
odin Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Currently watching Accel world, my first impressions is that it may be as good as SOA, it is similar to SOA only on this world the theme is more Cyberpunk and instead of an MMO apparently it is now a Fighting games, which I love so I may turn out liking it, plus the protagonist is different from your average hero protagonists, he is an overweight highschool boy and he so far we see him dealing with the hardships that people in his position has to deal with, definetly not something you see every day so I will give it a watch. Quote
durendal Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 As it turns out, Sword Art Online and Accel World was created by the same person. I guess this is the reason for it's similarity. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 I tried to watch accel world but i couldn't get into it. watched episode 2 of SAO last night. very nice! I am curious as to why kirito(?) is behaving that way. it's like he turns to the dark side. instead of explaining himself and what diabel actually did, he prefer to distance himself from the others. it makes for an interesting protagonist. I did really love the continuation of the premise. the thing about beta testers, monster tactics and rare drops. so utterly cool. Quote
Salkafar Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Watching 'Wakfu'... It's pretty nice. Quote
odin Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 As it turns out, Sword Art Online and Accel World was created by the same person. I guess this is the reason for it's similarity. That is nice to know, no wonder they seem similar I go for Accel world a bit more because of the idea behind the creation of their battle avatars which is a representation of their mental scars and what is missing in themeselves, it is pretty interesting aside that I can relate a lot more with Silver Crow than I can with Kirito, don't get me wrong he is awesome but I consider Crow more interesting cause he is more flawed although you could say the stakes are more rised in SOA than in accel world it really depends of the perspective you take, I would go on about both series but i would prefer talking about it on a different thread. currently watching nothing at the moment since i'm up to date with SOA. I did really love the continuation of the premise. the thing about beta testers, monster tactics and rare drops. so utterly cool. I can actually relate to that. Every time I play MMO games, I have the tendency to ignore other players because I see them as bothersome. This is the reason why I am saying that I can relate to Kirito when it comes to his playing style, because I would have done the same thing in his situation. I don't want people to be relying on me all the time only to be miserably disappointed of their expectations. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 you make a good point. my mate always tries to please others at the expense of his own happiness. whenever I play, I do stick to myself most of the time but when I do get together with somebody, Itry to be very helpful and generous. Quote
