Guest Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 I'm talking about what style of game would best suit the Guyver universe. A platform game, a one on one beat em up, an rpg etc etc... Me personally, I think a side scrolling beat em up would probably be the best way to go. It would have to be one of the better style side scrollers like Devil May Cry. As the guyver you would have a basic combination of martial arts style kicks and punches. You would obviously be fighting wave after wave of standard zoanoid forces. At the end of the level you would fight a Hyper Zoanoid or even a Zoalord in the later levels. After the successful completion of a level or even during a level, you would learn how to use a different weapon within the guyver armor. For example: Level one - Just the Guyvers Strength (punches and kicks) Level two - Discovering how to use (High frequency swords) Level three - Head beam Level four - Pressure Cannon Level five - Sonic buster I'm not sure when I would give the player access to the use of the mega smasher, but I reckon it would be a good idea if they had to charge it up first (like the devil trigger) or kill a certain number of zoanoids first. You could save your mega smasher blast for a particular tricky part of the game, when there are many zoanoids on screen at once, or until the end of a level, to do as much damage as possible to the end of level boss! I would definitely make it that you could use the mega smasher more than once in a level though! What do you think people? Quote
jedi-guyver Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 Sounds like it could work, but i think that a rpg/ hack and slash would work better. the use of other ablities throught out the game sounds fun. Quote
Guyver's bane Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 An rpg style guyver game would be cool. i'm going with jedi-guyver on this. Quote
Guest Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 I would allow all the abilities from the get go, but at the end of each level teach the player the button combination to use them. If it's a guyver game, that could be cool. I would also like to see an rpg from a zoanoids point of view. That would be fun, especially slaughtering tons of humans whenever chronos has to do a massive coverup. Or when Chronos takes over the world, going through and fullfilling objectives. Facing a guyver at the end though, that would be interesting. Then again, so would be facing a Libertus. Or Griselda. That would be an interesting plot. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 Devil may cry, side scrolling? what do you mean? sorry to knit pick, i know what you mean! That sounds like an ace idea! maybe like castlevania? not the ps2 version that was rubbish but like symphony of the night except 3d! maybe you could have a reserve of bio energy in the place of magic energy and in a save room sho can take the guyver off and have a meal and a rest to recharge his bio energy. then certain special moves can take up so much bio energy like the megasmasher would take loads of it!!! as you go through more fights you become more powerful and can defeat stronger opponents with more ease. so a level system could be used? i reckon it would be good if it was structured like a story like metal gear solid. it would have a winding flowing feel but in an episodic structure. with bosses at various stages but not set into levels. you would have freedom of movement just like mgs. omegaling Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 I actually think a fighting game would be best. It would really give characters to unleash with their abilities, and going through the battles to unlock potential secret characters would be fun. Quote
WarriorZoalord Posted November 19, 2004 Posted November 19, 2004 I think an RPG with battle's like those of Star Ocean 3, or Tales of Symphonia, Personally I think those battle systems would be the best for this kinda game, and you unlock the guyvers abilities as you level up, starting off with just punching/kicking/blades. Guest Posted November 19, 2004 Posted November 19, 2004 I would make like the old Megaman Games ^^ Quote
Guest Posted November 19, 2004 Posted November 19, 2004 Ok I use to talk about this years ago with my mates. First of all huamnity in the guyver universe are created for fighting so it has to be a fighting game... It could be both a very replayable 1-on-1 fighter or a streets of rage style scrolling fighter. They could easily make both just by using the current DBZ games engine in beautiful cartoony style cell shading. complete with special moves and of course super finnishes. Quote
McAvoy Posted November 19, 2004 Posted November 19, 2004 Nah I think the Guyver would be better suited as a first person shooter type of game. Imagine fighting as the Guyver flying all over the place fighting hordes of zoanoids, or even a zoalord or two. That would work better IMO. Quote
Juggernought Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 Personally, i think a good type of game for a guyver could be one like grand theft auto series where the player can pretty much do as he likes with certain goals to attain in the game as well as upgrades like getting access to the guyver armour weapon systems. Another addition could be that the game can give you the option of either being good or evil, guyver or zoalord. That way you get the full picture. one on one fight scences could take on a fighting system similar to that of DBZ games... This is all theory of course, it would take a huge popularity boost plus a major hit movie or something to bring this fantasy into being Quote
Guest Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 Ok I take it all back... A GTA style game would rule... Free roaming so you could decide every action... Begin as a human (preferably you could customize him/her). In the early stages of the game you confined to certain areas. the first upgrade could be a choice to either join chronos or rebel against them... the game could therefore become your very own story of your life in the guyver universe with various areas of the universe containing hidden power ups (guyver units, different processing tanks or various other objects such as Zoa crystals or battle armour. Obviously the combat system would have to be updated but definately a great idea juggernought. Then again maybe a Phantasy satr online style with either a Chronos headquarters or a rebel base/safe house replacing the hunters guild. Quote
Matt Bellamy Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 I would choose one of two kinds of games. 1. Fighting - most fighting games put their PCs on level contending. Thus havign Zoanoids in it would be easy enough, and Guyvers wouldn;t be able to trounce anything in their path. 2. The king of all 1 vs Army games. Dynasty/Samurai Warriors. Having the Guyver run into a large group of enemies, extend his blades, and start slicing, or use what they have "Arrow" mode for the head beam, or hold down the button to charge the pressure cannon, or having a full "musou" bar, to unleash the megasmasher. Guest Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 Although I like the idea of living life in the guyver world, and making your own decisions game, I have another suggestion. Why not a flash game? If it's simple enough, it would work. It would probebly be a side scroller (even though I hate those), unless you were to do a four door rpg room with little movement for the charactors. We have plenty of great artists to color in body parts for the animation. Now all we need is someone to script it, and someone that really knows flash. But oh well. Quote
Juggernought Posted November 27, 2004 Posted November 27, 2004 Now if only the game designers or anime and movie producers would notice that the guyver is coming back slowly but surely and make an effort to help it out you know. They'd be missing out on an oportunity on cashing in on a "goldmine" Another idea for the type of guyver game i just thought of is what if it had the realism as the war games they have out now? Do you know the effect that it would have? Granted i'm hooked on the guyver as it is but if it has that much realism i wouldn't be able to move from the tv screen. Quote
