I think these Zoalord sizes are surprising because in many battles, they arrive in human form wearing armour and after transforming their armour is scaled to their battle form as it was to their human form. Looking back at 16, Prugstall's battle form does stand at about Gigantic's height, and in 13, Imakarum is indeed about the size of Gigantic Dark. and Guyot utterly dwarfs Barcas in 8. I guess Zoalord armour has size alteration. I think we can apply the given heights to the tallest of head, shoulders or spine when they are standing to attention. If Elegen is measured when he's looking at a chemtrail, then I'm like ten foot tall because I can reach on tip toes.

I'd like to see an at-a-glance guide to how big all our favourite Takaya creatures and warsuits are. Something like the below image. Anyone already made something like that?

HF Sword capabilities
Lindsay replied to Lindsay's topic in Guyver Science / General Science Lab Forum
Hmm. Perhaps the weapon system analyses substances in fine proximity to the edge, and adjusts both the frequency and power appropriately. (It can't be constantly pumping out the power needed to cut through another Guyver; users seem to be able to swordfight for long periods without significant power drain.) Human tech has power saws that can detect organic substances and instantly stop to prevent injury, so it seems feasible. -
Aside from other HF materials, which have shown varying degrees of resilience, and materials that cause chemical or other damage to the blade material, do they just cut through everything like it was air? If the user accidentally sliced through something fairly solid, would they feel any resistance? Barriers seem to stop them - are they capable of adapting to block HF attacks, or do they behave like an extremely dense solid, or what?

There's a lot of very tiny differences that suggest either extensive tiny reworking (quite doable with CAD but somewhat pointless) or an entirely new mould.

A Guyver could no doubt get a stealth kill on a Zoalord with HF Swords. Hell, Agito nearly killed Barcas after getting the drop on him, even with his legs out of action. And Shin surely can't help but be aware that Sho and Aptom could assassinate him whenever they wanted. Every instance of a standard Guyver having a fair fight, however, has gone very badly indeed (though it's smaller form has enabled Sho to escape three Zoalords - if he hadn't had the Gigantic taken from him after beating Purgstall, he might not have successfully withdrawn). I don't think we've seen Kurumegnik display any capabilities other than barriers, flight, and enhancing a fellow Zoalord, so chances are he might be killable if Agito depletes the Gigantic's energy dealing with Jabir. As for the redundancy of the basic form, as I say, it's a smaller target, Aptom has not yet shown ability to fuse with and cloak Gigantic (imagine an invisible XD...), and if you use the Gigantic to overkill Zoanoids you might well find it's got to recharge when Guyot jumps out of a tree or something D:

Is Aptom at his limit?
Lindsay replied to H222G981's topic in Guyver Science / General Science Lab Forum
Also: Aptom's not employed a clone squadron for a while. Imagine an army of Omega Blast forms, pouncing on a target, and simultaneously using Bio Freezer Full Burst. Hayami could create a frozen layer that immobilised; Aptom can probably take a whole facility down to near zero Kelvin. On top of that, we've yet to see him fuse with Gigantic. We've seen him take on forms with enough biomass, albeit when he was chaotic. And Chronos is able to confer the superpower to absorb others to gain mass… if a HZ is ever made with the capability to become Draglord size (and realistically, what else can Chronos do on short notice to counter the threat of TWO Guyverzillas?), then that's Aptom's gateway to an Exceed Fusion. Hell, do that with Sho and Agito, and the XD Ice Smasher crossfire will turn the Ark into a fifty mile ice cube. Flyby with XD Sonic Buster and it's the biggest blizzard since the ice age. You know what? Hurry up and come back, Uranus, and bring whatever enemies you created us to destroy, because Sho and Agito and Aptom could do with a challenge. -
Ah, thank you very much! ...Hmm. This does not fill the gap in my timeline... the last chapter I have before this ends with GIIF nearing up on Aptom in the frozen forest. Looks like I've got some more searching to do -.-

Hi all, So, it's been a while since I last caught up! And, worse luck, the link to September 2014's chapter is dead. The post doesn't have the usual mirrors and various languages. Is there any chance of a necro-update?

Is Aptom at his limit?
Lindsay replied to H222G981's topic in Guyver Science / General Science Lab Forum
Atom's powers are limited only by the skill and imagination of Chronos (and Zeus...) scientists. As long as they keep creating tougher hides, stronger bio-blasters, fitter physiologies and more spectacular superpowers, and forgetting to protect them with an anti-Aptom antibody, he's going to get periodic boosts as and when Takaya-san considers it necessary to the plot and comes up with another awesome design. Known Zoanoid powers we have not yet seen him use include sonic attacks and complete immunity to HF swords. Even Guyvers don't have that last one; if Guyot gets a G-unit, and Aptom eats an Enhanced Zerbubuth (we have seen some reproduced HZs and Z is one of them), he would be able to engage at close quarters and just trade HF blows (and we know he has better HF reach than a Guyver). I don't recall him using a barrier, but we've seen a HZ with one (that had a much bigger range, proportionate to body dimensions, than Gigantic), so it's only a matter of time until he incorporates one of those into his tendency to absorb a highly specialised Zoanoid and incorporate a far stronger version of its speciality into his general purpose form. The Libertus can punch holes through the 'regular' Hyper-Zoanoids from which his powers are derived, and a mere pair of Unus can eat a Libertus alive. (If Aptom made some clones with Unus bodies, could he create a gestalt with himself?) Whether or not there's any left of either, he has certainly not yet absorbed the strongest meal there is. I don't see why gravity attacks necessarily require a zoacrystal - at the very least, Barcas might well figure out how to install gravity orbs on a HZ, which would also enable levitation. And, Aptom just needs to learn how to make one orb to give himself a battery. Dyme was an extraordinary case, but Somlum's molecular glue could probably be replicated, given enough time and resources. It'd be pretty much a win-button against a nude foe that can't just shed and regrow affected dermis and limbs. His cloaking ability is likely an EM manipulation trick, which opens the door to Chronos developing the gamut of Magneto's repel-a-planetary-invasion capabilities. And Aptom cranking them up to eleven. Uranus bio-engineering is known to be able to bestow the abilities to teleport and to fight in a hard vacuum. We've yet to see a Zoanoid do those, but I'm pretty confident he's already got full aquatic adaptations on file. -
Definitely, my comic book guy has no Asian connections. I'd suggest that another poll (or rather, survey) asking what volumes people need to fill out their collections would be a good starting point to figuring out a system if this goes ahead. That's pretty important market data!

At the end of the day, it's twelve quid/20 bucks for owning a high quality printed copy. Takaya puts a lot of effort into giving us stunning vistas, compelling alien hardware designs, and ruddy DINOSAURS FIGHTING CAVEMEN IN BIO-BOOSTER ARMOUR; why spoil it with scanning artifacts? I don't see why anyone with more than a passing interest in Guyver and a couple of tenners of luxuries budget is pausing for any reason other than to consider how many copies they'll order for their friends who half-remember that awesome ultraviolence series Manga Video put out in the 90's.
-
Not only am I looking forward to holding vol 30 in my hands in high fidelity print edition free from scanning artifacts and piracy concerns, I hope that I can eventually backfill every volume not distributed to my local comic book guy!

Don't get me wrong, I'm all in favour of anything to make Guyver more accessible, but bear in mind that buying a book you never see and it being given to someone you don't know so they can enjoy it is exactly the same as buying someone a DVD as a present. If someone likes a new Oasis album, giving them your CD whilst you keep the mp3's you ripped onto your iTunes is exactly the same as illegally downloading a torrent. Until a global e-content distributor starts selling licensed Guyver PDFs or iBooks or whatnot, the only way for Guyver fans to play by the rules, support the artist and not bother with importing a physical book they can't read (come on, folks, a spare weekend with a bottle of correction fluid and you can transfer the scanlation text) is to buy a book they'll never see and entrust someone to, on their behalf, render it unusable by anyone else (recycling would be preferable to a book bonfire IMO). If you want to introduce a stranger to Guyver with a physical copy, by all means buy them one for World Book Day. That would be outstanding Guyver Advocacy! But remember that it's their copy, and if the artist isn't already providing free digital content there's zero legal-technical argument and a very weak ethical argument that buying them that gift entitles you to a digital copy for yourself. Having a book printed so it can be pulped just to feel like we've bought a software license key is a funny way of doing things, but that's capitalism for you.

I'd put it in a plastic bag and take it to my local police station as lost property.

Oops, I overlooked the whole of the second page! The thing in that episode that always bothered me was the panning over the Zoanoids at the start of that clip. Or rather, the repeated loop of one short pan with vaguely similar start and end frames.

Yeah, I was referring to Sho's surprise rising uppercut. I've lost a few Street Fighter matches to that trick. I think a HF sword and G-unit probably make it even nastier than Ryu and Ken's efforts, though And the drawings aren't mine, it's a stock internet meme. I just shopped in the frames
-
To be constructively critical, I think on frame 7 the 'nose' and the laser mount thingy that covers part of the control medal are a bit too far out. Doesn't feel consistent with the previous frames, and looks off to me compared to the 'official' profile view to which I'm most accustomed: Have you considered making a full portrait to profile sketch animation? I'm a sculptor, myself, and front and side views of a subject are essential for me to make a physical 3D model of a subject.

Note to self: from now on, don't be checking for Guyver updates whilst eating breakfast. This actually happened, making me very glad of a sealed front facing on my screen: We've had some incredible chapters over the past couple of years; this was even more amazing than Agito's reappearance in Japan and G1's brutal dragon punch (should that be 'Sho'-ryuken?) in their subsequent fight - and made all the more awesome for me by my happening to only notice and read the new chapter after Durendal and Lost Unit's fantastic work in making the dialogue accessible.

It's very difficult to point to a real antagonist, nor any real villain. That's what works so well for me. Agito is a victim. It doesn't excuse his crimes, it doesn't make his sociopathic personality healthy and normal, but it doesn't mean he is 'born bad'. He's mentally ill. His recent confrontation seemed to be very poorly executed, and lacking in restraint. He's obsessed with gaining the power he lacked, and losing power seems to drive him into a rage. He's been very calculating in the past, and recently he's gone crazy. What exactly do we know about Guyot's background? Or that of the Rogues? Or Valcuria? Are they motivated entirely by greed? If so, then perhaps they can be said to be entirely bad. What about the scientists who knowingly participate in the making of monsters who will kill and subjugate innocents, to save themselves? An argument could be put that they're making an immoral Sophie's Choice. And the Creators... why were they creating weapons? Were they conquerors, or seeking the means to defend themselves? From their perspectives, eradicating life on Earth would have been no different to a lab technician sterilising a smallpox sample. Or a DEFRA official burning a herd infected with BSE.

I've just remembered something. When I was at sixth form, a classmate shared my fondness of the old 12ep OVA*, and Pokémon arrived in the West. I'm sure I've got a Pikachu Guyver drawing from back then, somewhere in my old art portfolios... *I once screamed "GUYVAAAAAAARRRR" on my turn in a game of 'guess the line' in the college workshop. He figured out what I was referring to, and I got a written warning for inappropriate behaviour.

Beast Guyvers would be interesting, though can an animal without language summon a unit? If so, Xenomorphs get my vote!

I doubt Shizu is dead. She might be on her last legs, but I'd imagine that if she should die without a successor being processed then every Libertus in Zeus facilities would become susceptible to bring turned by Chronos Zoalords? I wouldn't put it past Takaya to completely ruin Agito in such a way, but that would be a major development and not likely one that would happen 'in the background'. Plus, wouldn't the conversation in this chapter cover Griselda's demise if she had died in the unshown aftermath of Apollon's disappearance? Sure we're going to get a debrief on Agito's situation soon, if only to show what exactly was going on after he cried uncle...

Imakarum has shown recall of individuals that only he could know about, I'm certain. Aptom's appearance has changed significantly since the battle with the Enzyme 3's in which he didn't really engage Imakarum If I remember Correctly. Though his face is still very similar, the surprise of his new powers could prevent him being recognised. This 'spiral' attack seems significantly different to how Imakarum uses his. One's seemingly a thrown projectile rooted at the hand, this is more a remote constricting 'bubble'. That said, who else uses attacks like that?
