Sorry I had too lol! I remember when they first made this.

Who remembers how awesome this trailer was?
-
I'm pretty sure after the Clones issue (didn't they mention something like that in the movie?) they started a draft. So it's not surprising to me to see a variety in Storm Troopers. I kind of was hoping to see Ventress return honestly though. Since she disappeared after the Clone Wars and was never seen again. I doubt she'll be in it though. Yeah, I don't know. Maybe I should watch it again and try to just enjoy the movie or something. It's difficult for me to do that with movies though because I'm such a big critic lol. Some friends of mine were talking to me about the film again recently and they were explaining it as "the force came alive and awoke in Rey; hence the name of the film." I think one of you guys mentioned that too. I'm willing to buy that as for the reasons of her incredible powers that she gained so quickly. But I still sort of think it's a little lazy in story plotting.
-
I only saw one of those movies on Netflix. It was okay, but are they using that same style of animation. It looks like this animation was downgraded or something.

I agree with most of what you just wrote. As far as Rey being born of the force itself, that would be great. An awesome explanation for her incredible power. I totally agree that women can be just as good, if not BETTER then men at things in life. And vice versa. It's not about one sex is automatically better than the other because..."sex determines everything". I look at it on an individual level. You identify as a woman correct? You're far superior than me in programming. Your love interest is far superior in programming. That's great awesome. I'm not surprised in the least, because that's not something that I'm involved in or a hobby. Maybe you were because it's something you were passionate about. I'm not sure. I've had numerous women beat me in competitions too. Honors classes, awards, script writings all sort of things. They didn't win because of their gender, they won because their stuff was better than mine. I'm fine with that. As far as the video, yeah that guy is a complete tool. However, I did post more videos that were not as offensive as that guy. They talk about the plot-holes, fan service, the propaganda and other things too. Even mention her as a Mary Sue. I'll read your article though. in was pretty damn good at fighting that electric mace wielding guy even though he was a total rookie, sanitation guy Yeah, I felt like that fight made no sense. How in the heck did he even know how to wield a lightsaber properly? I don't know. doesn't matter who you are, you can be a racial minority, you can be a girl (god forbid!) and you can still be awesome! I agree with that statement. I just don't like the propaganda slapping me in the face every few seconds. I get it, and I agree, I understand now can we just watch the movie now please? See what I mean? It was annoying, that they "had to make sure I knew."

the very fact that you say that they are doing it in a way that is OK but Rey's way of being confident is not ok, that is misogynist. According to whom? You? First off, I never said that. I said I didn't like the political message in the film. It was awkward and offensive. Why did they have to continuously beat the viewers over the head with this propaganda? I had no problem with her being confident in her abilities. I had no problem with her being a mechanic or defending herself or any of that. It was the poor story writing and the propaganda involved in it. so any woman who feels self empowered is in the wrong? is pushing a political message. Please don't put words in my mouth. Once again, you're jumping to conclusions based off of your own assumptions. If you liked the movie good for you.As I've said, I didn't like it for it's p.c. message and bad plot. I don't have to be affiliated with a group in order to not be "insert horrible label/scare-word here" Why should anyone be entitled? What are they entitled to? Because she has a vagina she's entitled to something? That's sexist. Giving someone something solely based on their gender? No, how about we give things equally to people who are qualified for the position; or award those based off of their merits. Not give hand-outs based on gender. I can say I'm not a misogynist because I'm not one. Again, I don't have to agree with a political party in order to not be something or to avoid being labeled or stigmatized as something. If that were the case I'd be every scare-word in the book. You would want me to be a misogynist because then you can dismiss my points and force me to "accept" your view and retract my disappointment in the film. It's convenient and you don't have to put forth any work in trying to refute my statements and the statements of so many others. You just dismiss it as misogyny. That's how it's coming across to me anyways. You haven't even given me any rebuttals. You've been asking me questions as if luring me into a trap. As soon as I answer "misogyny, misogyny!" You can't just dismiss the fact that I have no problem with those awesome heroines and enjoy those other female heroines because it's convenient for you and easier for you to label me and stigmatize me as something rather than trying to make a counter argument, about the political aspect of the film. Especially when many of those heroines are some of my favorite heroes and my all-time favorite films. But simply because I have a problem with ONE female, feminist propaganda film, that somehow makes all the others irrelevant and makes me hate all women. Yup, that makes total sense. How many times do I have to repeat myself? Why are you still using selective hearing? I don't like ANY political message from ANY group in ANY film I enjoy. Do I have to use the MRA example again? Does that not count? I guess that means I have contempt and hatred for all men too huh? Oh no, it's only women that I do right? Right...You seem to be dismissing every point I make on an emotional level and simply because you find it offensive and you don't want to deal with it and make a counter argument. So it's easy for you to cry out "misogyny" where there obviously isn't any. Many others saw the exact same thing, and are saying the exact same thing about it. They didn't like the propaganda in the movie. But I guess, merely saying that makes them automatically misogynist. No, there's nothing misogynistic about my not liking political messages in films. It's not misogynistic to point out propaganda in a movie. Many others have done the exact same thing I did. I guess we should all label them as misogynist because they said the movie was a feminist propaganda girl power film too right? I don't have some inner-hatred towards women, or contempt for them. Don't try to tell me how I feel about a group of people, or a whole sex based off of a movie review, and the fact I didn't like the film. It's a movie, not reality. No, misogyny is inner hatred and contempt towards women. I have nothing of the sort. Must I give the list of favorite heroines again? Films with even BETTER heroes and HARDER heroes, and TOUGHER heroes, and STRONGER heroes than Rey? No problem with them. It's the forced down my throat message that was in the film. Gosh, why is this going right through your ears? I don't have to agree with you on your politics Jess. I've given you plenty of examples that you've asked for, several videos reviewing it giving their own input and what they saw. Even one with a clip from a feminist blog claiming it passed some sort of feminist movie test, and an article which blatantly says Abrams wanted to make the movie this way. At this point, it's on you. You can't just dismiss all that because you don't want to deal with it. I don't have to hunt evidence down for you to accept; or that you are willing to accept. The evidence is there; now it's on you. You can't have me do all the work for you, looking for something that you find acceptable. You can't just dismiss the facts I've already provided. That's denial on your part. If you don't like that, tough. I've given so many examples, now it's up to you to refute them. You can't just label it as "misogyny! misogyny!" and never give a counter-argument. One that shows what those people were saying is wrong. If you think I'm wrong, prove me wrong. I'll honestly listen, I'm always open to new ideas and different views. I'm willing to listen to counter arguments. But don't call me a misogynist because you don't like the points I made. Labeling people things like that does nothing but turn them off. Remember that for the future. First off, I'm not too big of a fan in the first alien film and you know I don't like the third or fourth. The second was incredibly impressive. Ripley was suffering from night-terrors and horrible PTSD. She didn't want to face the Alien but she decided to do so anyways; even though she didn't have to. That right there, was self-sacrifice. To help others, who didn't know what they were getting in, and to save lives so they didn't go through what she did. That is truly heroic. She started out scared but ended up becoming the leader of the group. She took control of the situation when an incompetent man, a supposedly experienced officer failed and was obviously not qualified to lead the group. The brave "mach-o" man who was talking smack and bragging throughout the entire film, lost his senses and became a coward; whereas Ripley became the headstrong, collected leader. Many of the boastful "manly men" were all killed in the first battle, completely overwhelmed by the Aliens and believed that they could kill them with relative ease; dismissing Ripley's warnings. She silently confronted the main villain, Burke on her own and placed him back in his place; and caused him so much distress and fear, that he tried to kill her secretly like a coward. Which ultimately backfired on him, she survived and came out on top. Ripley also bounded with a young child in a motherly way, showing a mother's love and care throughout the film. Which ultimately escalated to her risking her own life to save the "daughter" she loved. She destroyed the entire nest single-handily with rage and a vengeance. The same nest that wiped out the entire platoon of "Bad-Ass Marines". She finally confronted the mother Queen with the famous lines "Get away from her, you bitch!" moment. In which she fought and killed the Queen once again, by herself. A Queen that ripped an android in half as if it were nothing no less. Yeah, that is one fricken awesome heroine! Guess what? I never felt like there was any hidden messages in that film, other than the motherly aspect of Ellen and Newt. Let's examine another great movie I LOVE. Kill Bill. The main hero, Beatrix Kiddo. One of my favorite vengeance stories and movies of all time! The film starts at her wedding rehearsal, while she's pregnant. Bill, the main villain has his team of assassins bust in the doors and kill everyone present. Yet, Beatrix survives. She was in a coma for four years. After she awoke, she went on the rampage. Seeking vengeance and hunting down all of the assassins one by one. She was the top assassin of the team that betrayed her. She was ruthless, merciless, and unwavering. She wanted blood, and nothing was going to stop her from getting that. She was trained in secret hidden techniques that not even Bill himself received, both a master martial artist and a master swordsman. She killed all of her teammates save for Bud and dismembered 88 bodyguards that belonged to Oren-Ishi. In the final confrontation with Bill, a man who was supposed to be unequal in martial combat, we see her face her most extreme test. She was nervous and determined. And through that anger and determination she beat him. Not because of some fluke, but because she was trained with her Master's secret signature technique, that not even Bill knew. He was outmatched, and she killed him. She killed them all, and was reunited with her daughter. But the film doesn't end there, we see her bonding, once again with her daughter; for several scenes that I found interesting to say the least. And we see that motherly love with her child. Her rage and hatred stemmed from the idea that she had lost her child and she was more concerned about avenging her child than her friends and fiance. I love this movie, it's a great vengeance flick. And once again, I felt like there was no p.c. or political message hidden within that film. Does Rey compare to Ripley or to Beatrix? To me? Not even close. See, I don't hate women, or female leads or heroines. Heck, even Raven is my all time favorite D.C. hero; and I HATE Super-man with a passion. I can't stand him and I had the biggest crush on Raven when I was ages 9-14. I hate D.C. but I love Raven. So, I don't see why it's so hard for you to get that I have no problem with great heroines or female leads. Why do they have to have a p.c. message in the film though? I hate that crap. I don't want that in entertainment movies. It's not needed nor necessary. Just make the movie awesome for the sake of being awesome. Make her awesome without these subtle jabbs from the feminist movement. Why is that needed? Now, if you're going to continue this discussions, (I'm getting rather tired of this now) you need to realize a few things: 1) My not liking a movie because of it's propaganda does not make me misogynistic. 2) My pointing out that there was propaganda in a movie does not make me misogynistic. 3) You must bring evidence refuting the claims and or accusations made. You cannot dismiss them merely because you want to and because it's easy. If this continues, I'll take that as a sign of forfeiture. 4) Don't be mad at me for shedding light on this topic when you asked me to. 5) Watch all the clips before continuing so you can see what others and myself are trying to say. Maybe they can get it across in a better way. Honestly, at this point I think it's just best to drop it. I'm tired of this, it's been going on for days. You seem hellbent on labeling me a misogynist. It's what many people do here in the States. If someone doesn't agree with something than they're "Insert whatever phobe here" and that's the end of it. It's just a way for people to dismiss the argument and not actually engage in it. I'm sorry Lordspleach, I'm not trying to. But I felt as if I needed to defend my position sense several people kept asking me questions and also accused me of misogyny. Like I said before, it was an ok film, I didn't care for it. I guess we can leave it at that; I would like to anyways.

Here are some other people talking about it too. Just posting these to show I'm not making this up or suffering from some sort of paranoia. The comments sometimes go more into detail as well. By no means are these the only videos about the subject too. (skip to 6:15 prior to that he talks about American presidential campaigns) (I loved Katniss myself, but I haven't seen those other movies he mentioned) (He get's a bit out there with some of his ideas, though he makes some good points) I felt like these character were representations of the following: Kylo = Privileged white entitled teenager; whose parents don't understand him. Finn = Social Justice Warrior who white knights Rey. Rey = Third wave, self-empowered, feminist.

The guy is a tool and a jerk. No doubt about it. I'm not even subscribed to his channel. I only came across it when I searched for Starwars movie reviews. Like I said, he's a misogynist who thinks women instinctively want to or need to serve men. He's way out there with his views. I shared those videos in hopes to show that I don't harbor that kind of contempt or view of women. I agree with him on some of the feminist propaganda stuff that was in the movie, though I don't agree with him on everything. He's maliciously offensive, or attempts to offend people on purpose. A bully. Honestly, I stopped reading all of your questions half way through. Like I said before, and many others. I can post more movie reviewers if you want. Others that are not as rude or as offensive as this guy was. Even five of my friends that I can name off the top of my head, said exactly the same thing. They felt like it was a Starwars movie for feminist. I mean, you don't have to look too hard to see the feminist catering, in the movie. I picked it up about half way through. It's not that hard to see. We live in a p.c. society. So yes, disney and other movies are going to make p.c. movies to cater to the p.c. crowd. I think of the the Force Awakens as a remade A New Hope; the p.c. edition. I don't know about "mansplaining". Other than this forum I don't get involved in social media too much. To me it's just pointless debates and headaches. I like to listen to various podcasts and spokes persons though on YouTube. Jess was right, I do study gender issues quite extensively. I've taken two classes in sociology and listen to people on YouTube daily. But through study feminism and MRA views, arguments and politics (in order to find what I believed in or to identify as) I realized I didn't agree with either. I believe both sides had valid points but both were bigoted and selective in their views. Only focusing on what was important to them rather than what was best for everyone. Sort of like liberals and conservatives. It shouldn't have come to a surprise to me. Like with politics I would find myself in a third party.

There's nothing misogynistic about my arguments. Because you want them to be that way doesn't make them so. Just because you're upset that I pointed out the fact that there was a p.c. angle or message in the film doesn't make me a misogynist. I've explained in detail how my argument is not misogynistic and used perfect examples of great female leads and roles that I love in films. The films they stared in did not shove a political agenda down society's throat. I've also explained several times that Abrams PURPOSEFULLY (even he admitted it) made this Star Wars a girl power movie. The obvious thing I'm referring to, is that in the movie. You can see the self-empowered entitled attitude within Rey's character. You want to see a misogynist? This guy, thinks girls are no good than instinctively serving in his words "the bird". I don't agree with him on everything, though does that make his points any less credible? Of course not. Just because I point things out in videos, things you might find offensive to you personally, (which is subjective) doesn't automatically make me a misogynist. It seems like you're suggesting that if I don't agree with you then I'm automatically a misogynist. Sorry, that's far from the case.

I actually just watched this trailer last night. It looks awkward to me but I might give it a shot.
-
I've already shared one article that spoke on the intentions of Abrams and take note that I'm not the only one who caught this or feels this way. Just look on social media or YouTube. You'll see many agree with what I'm saying, some even elaborate further than I have. Some of those people I agree with, others I don't. I'm not assuming anything, it's evident in the movie. It was a girl power, feminist propaganda Star Wars. A new p.c. version of A New Hope. Just watch it. It's blatantly obvious. Even some of my friends who just saw it last night said they felt the same way I do. Others have too. Look if you liked the movie awesome. Good for you, I didn't like it because of the propaganda. Don't know why you all think I shot the sacred cow just because of that.
-
I've already told you Jess in my other posts. It was a feminist message of self-empowerment and independence. Feminist propaganda in a Star Wars movie. I don't care if that's how a person whether male or female wants to live. I don't care if there's a cool female or male hero or villain or whatever. I don't care about the characterss gender, it was the propaganda/movement/message in the film. I don't want to see that stuff in movies, from any kind of organization, political party or activist. I've already explained this. Political messages don't belong in fantasy movies.

do you really view equality as offensive? JJ Abrams says quite clearly he is trying to broaden the appeal. so girls can enjoy the movie as well as boys. so girls can feel strong and powerful too. are you really offended by that? No, the fact that a female Jedi was what he wanted to do and focus on doesn't offend me at all. It's too bad we didn't get a female villain too, sort of like Asajj Ventress. How cool would it have been if that was who the Supreme Leader was? It was sort of the way that he portrayed her though. Like I said, to me, it felt like he was trying to prove a point. It was unnecessary. Just have her become a Jedi and beat the guy; no need for those messages that were clearly put in the film. Mirabilis, magic is pretty much precisely what the Force is. It is a power which allows unlikely individuals to perform incredible feats. It is not like training for a marathon - it is a spiritual discipline. And Anakin had a stronger connection to the Force than anybody else known. Yeah, I know the Force is like that, however I was under the impression that he actually did accidentally blow up the battle ship. He didn't use the Force in that seen. Maybe it was a bad choice of words on my part. That did not amount to more than a few hours at most. And 'trusting your instincts'... He started his training yes, but he also was assisting him/coaching him through that entire battle. Even if it were merely a few hours, that's more than Rey got. Those are some good points with the three comparison. Well, firstly, there is no hint of that scenario in any other materials. Well we also have to take into account, that a lot of time had passed between Empire and Return. We also have to take note that Luke gave the droids a mission while he was doing...something. Another thing was how he was far more powerful in Return than in Empire. Able to Force choke two beings at the same time with relative ease. The only Jedi to ever do this. Only Count Dooku and Darth Vader have ever been seen using that technique on screen. As well as his new lightsaber. How would he know how to create one? Where did he know to get the crystal for it? Besides that, building your own lightsaber was a rite of passage as mentioned before. I find it hard to believe that he somehow knew or learned all this in just a few days or maybe one week after Empire. Whose to say Luke didn't ask Yoda, maybe he was more focused on his training. poetically, he really should have lost a hand. I thought the same thing too! Maybe he'll cut his own arm off to be just like Vader? Self-mutilation. Well, remember Kylo killed all of Luke's other students. So I bet you Luke dropped her off on Jakku and then went into hiding due to shame. She was probably a small child while Kylo was a teenager or something of the sort. At least that's what I suspect. I just have a hunch Kylo might kill Luke, Rey's new master. Which to me seems like she'll use the death of both Han and Luke as a tool for revenge. It would be a different take at least. Who knows though, I could be wrong. Would you find it more interesting if both Rey and Kylo tack-teamed the Supreme Leader? haha
-
Yeah, here's one article on it. You can find more people talking about it on YouTube too, if you are interested in it. Look, I'm not trying to be mean or sound like a jerk. I just don't like things like that being forced in a film, or series for no reason then for political purposes. If you want me to drop the subject and let you guys move on with others I will. It's not that big of a deal for me to keep talking about it; I only did because some of you asked me to and asked me questions. But if you want to drop it that's fine. http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/star-wars-the-force-awakens-hero-rey-hailed-feminist-icon

so if it was a male, you would still feel this way? Yes, I would still feel this way if it were a male character. so she is better than him without training. so what? big whoop? it just means that this character is badass. If you think that's cool good for you, I find it offensive and pathetic. It means the character was forced to portray a message to all of society. the mere fact that she is a girl, makes you angry. No, actually I'm not angry at all about it. I could care less about this movie. You're the only one who appears to be getting angry and calling people names. The movie was just another version of A New Hope. Hardly impressive. The fact that she is a girl is meaningless to me. I don't care that she's a girl. You're the only one who keeps bringing up her gender. I don't know how many times I have to repeat myself, but it seems you're using selective hearing on this topic. if it was a male character who beat him without training, what would be your complaint? who would you be blaming? My complaint would be the same, if it were a male character. I despise many films that have male character leads. Like I said before, gender does not magically make plot holes and poor story plotting go away. Would you like me to list them? I feel exactly the same way about those movies and their lead male characters, as I do about Rey. They're SJW in those movies. And if you go back far enough, they're patriarchal men who force women to seek permission to do even the slightest things. Notable ex: Sinbad and the Seventh Voyage. Pretty offensive message in there too. if your point is that it is implausible and bad writing, then just leave it at that. why bring in some hate campaign? Simply because I disagree with the films message, point it out and find it offensive doesn't make my disappointment or my points a "hate campaign". Don't try to use scare tactics and scare words to stigmatize me. Don't lump me in with people who actually hate women and see them as nothing more than sub servant to their male counterparts and beat them. that is why it is misogynist Because I point out political messages in films? No, it just means I'm not gullible and not biased to accept what I'm fed without questioning things first. because you're making it about her gender., You're the only one whose making it about her gender. I've shown repeatedly great heroines, movies and films where the lead hero or a main hero was a female. How much I liked them and how great the film was. Yet, that somehow has gone right over your head or doesn't count. Those films were fantastic and didn't have political messages in them. This one did, and because I point it out you have a problem with it. It was bad writing, but it was done on purpose to please others. I don't get why you can't see that. Or maybe you're refusing to? because if a man does something implausible, it's just bad writing, but if a girl does it, it's a political ploy. No, sometimes it simply is bad writing. Sometimes it's bad writing with a political ploy added in. Plenty of films with both. Bad writing with SJW. Bad writing with Feminist. Sometimes bad writing with MRA scoundrels. Sometimes just bad writing. You seem to feel very strongly about this, sense everything I'm saying is going right through your ears, and you're only hearing that I supposedly hate Rey merely for the trivial fact that she has a vagina. A pathetic counter argument. I've already shown and proven otherwise. As I said before, you know what would of fixed all of this? If she was already a fricken Jedi Knight or a Master. Then it ALL would have made sense and would've been fine. Or if she beat the villain after she was trained. I would've been fine with either of those in the film and it would've been great. But they didn't do that. They had her overcome the obstacle just to prove a point. And that's what I have a problem with. Political messages do not belong in Star Wars movies.
-
No, you're point is that I'm upset that a girl beat a male. That's not the issue; as I've stated numerous times. Just because you want me to have a problem with Rey (because she's a girl), when I've proven otherwise is your own fascination of gender. It's the fact that she did it without any training. As I've stated before, if it was a male I still would've been just as upset. But, this was done to please the feminist crowd. That's where the feminist comes in. A push for the SJW and to please the third wave feminist political correct culture. Here's an example of a movie I LOVED that I had NO problems with. Kill Bill. Beatrix Kiddo is a female, I don't care. She kills and bests everyone. I don't care. But you know what, she was trained to do so. She was trained to be the best and most ruthless killer. So it made sense in the story. It wasn't done to please anyone, it was told for the love of the story. No short cuts or political messages behind the film. It was brilliant. Even though she killed the man she loved. It was awesome. I loved it, and had no problems with a female protagonist overcoming a male. Rey? No training, but because they wanted a woman who could beat the villain to prove a point, to please people and to show others how great a girl can be, they had her beat him. Even if Kylo was a girl and it was a girl on girl fight, I still would've felt the same way. Why do you think Rey (who had no training) would be able to beat Kylo, when he not only had training, but beat another person who also had melee training? Why is this so much of a stretch for you to see? It's blatantly obvious. Before you come back at me as "being some sort of woman hater" because I don't agree with your views or something, know that I'm an egalitarian. I don't identify as MRA or as a Feminist.

Then I move some objects can become 'imprinted' with the Force, not so much to contain power themselves, but to be strong conduits. I think that is not overreaching. (Think of the cave on Dagobah. Before he even went inside it, Luke sensed that it was strongly imbued with the Force.) The effect remains the same: a stronger connection to the Force, possibly knowledge or added ability associated with the object, such as with psychometry. When you put it that way, it seems more plausible. Say that Luke was trained. Who trained him? Not Yoda, and not Obi-Wan, for the reasons I mentioned before. So if he trained, he was certainly not instructed. How do we know Yoda didn't train him? Even Vader says "Obi-Wan had taught you well", implying that Ben did in fact train him. Whose to say Luke didn't return to Degobah and finish his training before going after Han; and then returning back to Degobah again? I expect we will have some more light shed on Rey's past and her connection to the Force in the movies that follow. I hope that the movies won't be too derivative, will be a bit more 'daring', but somehow I am not worried. I'm hoping for that too honestly. At least some sort of explanation for her all her incredible power, that will fill in the gap. I still believe she's Kylo's younger sister and will end up killing him.
-
"So when a girl does it, it's not ok, but when a guy does it, it's fine? anakin flew into space with no training, and took out the droid ship. he had never sat in a naboo starfighter in his life. you saw what happened to all the other starfighters. and luke, with no official training, took out the death star. but I guess this is ok because they are men. Rey had trained plenty with her bo. she had looked after herself her whole life on a tough planet and defended herself with some clear combat skills. why can't she hold her own against kylo ren? because she's a girl, right? if it was a guy in that position you wouldn't have batted an eyelid. because that is what movies do. they take characters and make them do amazing things." Did you not read what I said before? I could care less what gender the protagonist is. My beef is with the poor story writing and the political agenda/message behind the film. As I mentioned, all those other awesome heroines were incredibly awesome because they didn't overcome their obstacles just because. Even one of my all time favorite heroines sacrificed herself so others could escape. Talk about a true hero. No Jess. I never said she couldn't defeat Kylo just because she's a girl. I'm not upset because the main character has a vagina rather than a penis. That's trivial and stupid. You're making assumptions and jumping to conclusions. I already spoke about her fighting capabilities. Yes, she could defend herself in a street brawl. what would that equate to with a lightsaber duelist? Not very well I'd wager. Like I already said, (did you skip through some of my posts?) if it was a guy, if it was Finn, or the X-wing pilot, I'd be just as agitated. I would've been content with her defeating Kylo if she was already a Jedi Knight, or a Master or had some sort of actual training with the Force or a lightsaber. Like I said, it would've been better for her defeating him after she trained with Luke. anakin flew into space with no training, and took out the droid ship. he had never sat in a naboo starfighter in his life. you saw what happened to all the other starfighters. That was one of the main reasons Episode I was so horrible and stupid. A little boy blowing up the droid battle ship, accidentally? That whole scenario was pathetic and stupid. He just magically was able to do that. *Sigh* and luke, with no official training, took out the death star. Did you forget that Ben Kenobi had started training Luke to trust his instincts and use the Force throughout that movie? He even coached him on what to do and how to use the Force during that whole Death Star battle scene.

I'll agree to disagree with you on me mistaking things. You can believe that, doesn't change anything though. That's what sort of threw me off. The lightsaber calling out to her. Some friends and I spoke on that. We concluded that the force was speaking to her/showing her visions through the lightsaber. But the lightsaber itself didn't have that power. The lightsaber isn't a mystical item with magical powers like Excalibur or the demonic swords from InuYasha that have magical/spiritual powers. But they may change that. I'm drawing on the old movies when they spoke about the weapon. The newer ones might change that though. Yeah, Luke was trained after his fight with Vader. They mentioned that, and he was even taught how to build a new lightsaber as a rite of passage for completing his training. He was able to master the Force and was even able to use mind tricks and force choke people in Jabba's palace. Yoda mentions that it was unfortunate that he faced his father before his training was completed. And as I said before, Yoda told him he could only call himself a Jedi after he defeated Darth Vader. That's really the only thing that I was willing to accept. It made sense that she had some fighting experience. Brawling in the streets for food and stuff. Though I'd find that fighting style would hardly be able to compete with a martial artist or something of the like.

"And why not? Yoda was a two-foot green squirt who bested Count Dooku. More training? How much training makes a difference eventually? Luke Skywalker beat Darth Vader - not because he had been trained for a grand total of MAYBE a week (Or? Just how long was Luke tutored by Yoda, anyway? Did he return to Dagobah between 'Empire' and 'Return'? But how much training could he have done, compared to the four decades of Darth Vader?) but because he let the Force flow freely. The power of a Jedi comes from the Force." Yoda bested Count Dooku because he was the grand master, not because of his physical size. You're right Sal. No one needs any training whatsoever. Just give some random person a lightsaber and they cane even beat Darth Sidious, because...reasons. Luke lost his first battle to Darth Vader, both Ben and Yoda told him he needed to complete his training and let his friends be sacrificed. He left and had his hand cut off. In Return of the Jedi, Luke had completed his training. However, Yoda told him he could only call himself a Jedi after he defeated Darth Vader, destroying the Sith and returning the force to the light. "And what was she fighting with? Luke and Anakin's old light saber. It was shown in the movie itself that objects, especially objects so intensely Force-applied as a light saber, retain 'echoes' of their wielders. Is it possible the sword was 'teaching' her to fight? Or guiding her hand? Kylo Ren was pretty eager to get his hands on it. Because it had belonged to Darth Vader? Maybe, maybe not - Vader made his own light saber (Which presumably blew up with the Death Star), and he desperately wants to be a lord of the Sith, not a Jedi." I don't believe the lightsabers are these mystical items or objects in the Starwars universe; feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Remember Ben talked about them before as did Yoda. They were merely weapons to be used. The power of the Force came from within the individual not the saber itself. I think Kylo wanted it because, as you mentioned, it was once Anakin's, but also because it was an actual lightsaber. Not his jacked up one. He obviously didn't know how to create a lightsaber the proper way. As far as my comment about us all knowing. I stand by it. Yeah that is odd. About the film. You may try to explain these issues way, but they're still issues. I'll drop the subject so you guys can enjoy the movie, I don't want to ruin it for others or turn this into a fight. But you guys asked me to elaborate so I did. I'll end it with this: to me it was a politically correct star wars revamped New Hope movie. It's not the fact that Rey was a girl that I had a problem with. Even if she was a guy and he beat Kylo that way, I would've had the same problem. You can't erase the problems of poor story plotting with merely a gender. Gender doesn't magically make plot holes disappear. And the political message behind the character was my problem as well. Why do characters have to have political messages behind them? If you want to know more I suggest checking out RPP on youtube. He's talked about this same issue extensively. He was so annoyed and upset with the movie he walked out of the theater. Can't blame him either. If you guys liked the movie awesome. I enjoyed it to that point. I dunno, hope the next ones better. Who wants to bet it will be a revamped version of The Empire Strikes Back? lol

I completely disagree Matt. Side note: I foresaw her being Kylo's younger sister since the first trailer myself. The siblings having to fight it out rather than parent and child it would be siblings. However, that's not my issue. I found this battle completely forced in there and it was so awkward, I couldn't even enjoy it. Mind you, I'm not the only one who saw this and feels this way. I already said from the get go I didn't have a problem with her character, or her knowing mechanical stuff, or knowing self-defense. It was how she was somehow this great all powerful force sensitive that was able to best someone who was far superior to herself with relative ease. It was a joke. Even Finn, who as you noted, received melee combat as a Stormtrooper was bested. Yet, this person who happened to have no training whatsoever was able to beat this guy? Please, totally forced and a joke. We all know it was put in there just please a certain crowd and to follow a politically correct society.

I'm sorry you find my disappointment in a film misogynistic. I liked Rey a lot, but you could totally see that, much of her character forcibly had masculine traits to portray a message. This Starwars movie had a lot of politically correct things in it. Which was fine to an extent. From here on out SPOILERS, you've been warned. I liked how she was a good mechanic and a grease monkey, it made sense for the story. It was cool she could fight off people to take care of herself when Finn tried to help out. It had some humor and it made sense. She'd been there by herself for years, self-defense would've been essential. Her attitude was also something that could be expected of such a character. It started getting annoying though when she out of nowhere became a force sensitive that was able to best an Acolyte who had actual training. Totally forced. We can do it, we don't need you! Especially after he beat Finn then she slapped him around as if it were nothing. I don't know, it seemed like an offensive rushed message. It'd been better and would've made more sense, if she had beaten him AFTER Luke trained her and she knew what she was doing. But again, remember I am a harsh movie critic. I don't know, people think her character is groundbreaking, and that we've never had an awesome heroine before. She was an okay hero, but she'll never live up to Ripley for me, the baddest of the bad when it comes to awesome female heroes. Let's not forget Sarah Connor, Katniss Everdeen, Beatrix Kiddo, Gretel, Phoenix, Storm, Black Widow, Selene, Sonja, Cat Woman, Gamora, Babydoll, Neytiri, Letty Ortez, Trinity, Hit-Girl, Vasquez (a personal favorite of mine), and the newer Imperator Furiosa. This was just a small list of awesome kickass heroines. You know what they have in common? They've all received training of some sort. They have great character development and none of them are rushed through the plot to get to the climatic end. None of them have a political message or agenda hidden behind them. They're true to their own character. They're all awesome because you can see how their character progresses in the story, sometimes going through training and become even better. None of them are just magically better for just because, or "reasons". It was poor story writing and plotting. Like I said, I liked Rey up to a certain point, then it just seemed like they were just pushing it. It would've been better to wait on their fight til the next movie, or have her loose the first duel and then come back and beat the guy. It would've given her motivation to come on top and to best him. It just didn't make any sense. I mean, would you believe some random individual could best a martial artist who had received training from a master? Of course not, the idea is preposterous. Yet, that's exactly what happened in the movie. I dunno, call me a misogynist if you want, I still believe the message behind it was absurd.

It was okay, nothing fantastic about it. Just a revamped version of A New Hope and the underlining feminist "we don't need men!" message was pathetic at best and offensive at worst.

Prometheus 2 - “Alien: Paradise Lost!

It depends for me on the comic. I have some of the older ones from the 80's packed away. I don't like it when they get too far out there with stuff that's just weird. But I like it when they add new characteristics to the Xeno's. And thanks Prometheus! Yeah, that's sort of a fan fic I thought of some time ago. And Super that's one of my biggest grievances! Xeno's just use basic aspects of their hosts, they don't take traits like hair particles. I mean the Predalien design would be great if it's skin color was darker like every other fricken xeno! And the hair? I mean, it would be like a xeno born from a cow having cow hair, or that gorilla born xeno having gorilla hair. It's dumb. -

I know this isn't the subject of this forum, but I wish they made a TV series on Fox about the Aliens. New characters, new stories and somewhat like the Walking Dead. Funded that much I mean. The story revolving around a paradise world with billions of people and an infestation occurs. It would be post-infestation on a massive scale. We could finally see the scenario Ripley was so afraid of, that would happen to Earth. The plot would be about various groups fighting for resources, whole battalions of C.M.'s would've already arrived but were wiped out. So the survivors could be scavenging their supplies. I mean total destruction. The whole thing would be trying to get off the planet, rather than reclaiming it. The intro to the show would be Cameron's awesome horror theme. So great and it definitely tops the W.D.'s in my opinion lol. Sorry for the hijack though.
