How many of the Guyver fans believe in God?
I'm not sure if you even want to accept any answers to your question, but I will provide them. before I go on, I want to make it clear to you that I do not follow any specific religion, rather I tend to explore all matters of faith and decide for myself what i want to believe. first off your question about Ted Haggard. well it's realy quite siple. God gave man free will. the very first story in the bible illustrates how god places things like temptation before us to test us and it is our free will that enables us to learn. god is perfect. but man isn't. we are all imperfect beings and god does not control us and make everything 'right' and 'good' because that would completely remove the whole point of giving us free will. Ted Haggard continued like he did because of free will, but it didn't last forever, he was found out and People helped him. you say that god didn't do anything about it, but do you think that perhaps god could have caused the events that lead to him being found out? how do you tell whether a preacher actually is acting in the name of God? trust your own instincts/judgement. the wonderful thing about being human and having free will is that you get to choose what you believe and what you don't believe. just because a person is christian it doesn't mean they are going to unquestioningly believe everything every pastor ever tells them. I've spoken to many christians and they all have a very different perspective. for example, there are those that believe the book of genesis literally, word for word. there are others that believe the book fo genesis is a great big metaphor. the bible can be vague at times and that can be a good thing because it allows People the freedom to choose whcih parts to take literally, which parts to discard and which parts to hold true. "Anyway, I don't trust any system which claims it knows the absolute truth about anything" I don't think that is a fair thing to say.. god knows the truth about everything, but religions don't. books are vague and have been through lots of translation. if you ask a scientist what ark matter is, they will tell you " i don't know what it is, but it is there" and that is tantamount to saying "god made it"... at least it depends which way you look at it.. but saying that god made it, isn';t really giving an answer is it? because god made everything. so saying "god did it" is tantamount to saying "I haven't got a clue" so basically I'm not sure youcan say that any religion can claim to know everything... in fact they hardly know as much as science does about a lot of things.. but then it's like zeo said.. science was created by hte church as a tool to better understand gods creation. at the end of the day, it's all creation. it was either made by god or the big bang. perhaps god IS the big bang? who knows.. it seems to me that you are attacking a characiture of religion.. but maybe you haven't explored all hte different facets? Maybe I'm wrong.. but that's the ipression i get at this stage. to reverse engineer though... I'd like you to consider your personality.. your thoughts, your consciousness. maybe you have an idea what that is, maybe you don't have a clue.. maybe you never considered it.. but let's look at it as a series of electromagnetic pulses flashing over your brain.. if you consider what evolution and the start of life is supposed to be according to science.. one great big random accident. like a coplex explosion of sorts.. yes i have thought all hte way through the creation of life, through amino acids, single celled organisms etc.. well if it is all random yet complex... then our conscioussness is basically a large complex explosion that works together to give you conscioussness. also consider that your body is made up of millions of single celled organisms that have ovolved alongside each other into a symbiosis that create a multicelled organism. so if those cells had any awareness. do you think they know about your consciousness? are they fully aware of your thoughts? probably not, you are simply too big and advanced for them to comprehend.. what if all these organisms called humans and animals, are actually part of a larger form of life? how could you be aware of this lifeform? this larger conscioussness? then if you consider genetic memory... in some ways, it is perfectly logical to consider that humanity forms part of a massive consciousness that has been aware since the dawn of our race, or even the dawn of life. and our genetic memory is what forms this conscioussness' memory. I don't think hte concept of God is that unusual or illogical. perhaps some of teh teachings are a bit odd. maybe something you might not find that believable... but then remember that the bible and other books are very old, and full of metaphors. and a lot of christians are not stupid and do recognise that the book is full of metaphors.

I just think it's about control those i power want to stay in power so they force People to believe certain things. I believe that now in china, they have their own VERSION of christianity which is heavily edited.

skies of ember
Cardigan Tom walked slowly along the beach front. he kicked a stone as he walked, not caring where it ended up. the stone was in his way. he hated the stone. that stone had made his life a misery for the longest of times... ever since the summer of 3 years ago. of course, anyone who knew CT closely, knew full well that the stone had done nothing to him. it was just an outlet. the moment had passed. he looked up at the dark red sky over the ocean. the light would be totally gone soon. Time to get back to the hostel.

yeah, those People were pretty closed minded and would attack anyone for thinking for themselves and speaking against the grain. they went with what authority told them they should believe and if anyone disagreed with the 'truth' or the 'facts' they were victimised. I am so glad that today, People are free to believe what they want to believe. they are free to choose their faith and come up with their own ideas. I thik if People were like that these days, then authority would be pushing science (or perhaps christianity) and you would be the one burning me at the stake because i don't accept everything scientists or indeed the church, spoon feed me. do you think i made a fair observation here?

precisely zeo, which is why i included the word SOME. I know that a lot of science and scientists work alongside religion and their beliefs. what i was complaining about was the few individuals who have the behaviour that i outlined. this is why I personally like to read about scientific ideas and methods... that is, until i feel science can go no further. I feel science is quite primitive compared to powers of imagination and intuition. science is far behind in EVERYTHING.. dogs noses far outstrip science in detecting ability. our minds work so much faster than any super computer.

I love this. it's like.... People will very often challenge you with things they claim to be illogical. the thing i dislike about some science and People who adhere to it, is that it tries to turn the world into some clinical, dull place. for example, who says christ didn't walk on water? do we have a video of him NOT walking on water? it's very possible for Christ to have walked on water. People can come up with whatever explaination they want, end of the day, nobody can prove each way, so whatever answer we come to requires faith. arguing using science requires a lot of faith i science. People seem to think that it doesn't require faith because science is the ultimate truth and nothing else can exhist. but if you deny things that science cannot explain, then you deny that you can think. because science cannot explain how the mind works. how conscioussness works, scientists have some ideas, but they don't know for sure. science cannot xplain what a person will experience upon death. science still cannot explain the existence of matter fully. it doesn't correlate between relativity and quantum .. so if you deny things science cannot explain, you deny exhistence itself. if you have never seen any miraculous events, then fine, you can't always believe what other People say. you have to make up your own mind.. but the People who hav expereinced miraculous events, hav their faith based onthat. they don't always deny things that can be proven. I don't deny when things can be proven without doubt. but i also won't deny something that happened to me because sceince says it is impossible or improbable. thing is, I experienced it and i would rather trust myself and my own eyes and mind than some group opf boffins. if I don't trust myself and my own eyes, i become a robot. it reminds me of that bit in 'the fly'... where brundle is talkig about the flesh and how the machine doesn't get excited about the flesh. I think science is a great tool to explain how things happen, but I hate it when science tries to TAKE AWAY from the other wonderful things that it can't explain properly yet. I think some ideas of evolution are good as mechanisms, but I don't believe that evolution in itself is capable of DRIVING change. teh weight of many evolutionary 'advantages' is just not great enough to warrant a continuation of said trait. I link this along with genetic memory.. I think that things like genetic memory and sharing of memories in this fashion enables species on some level to collectively decide what direction hte species should take. I also believe that some of this decision making power is linked to spirituality. well actually, I thik that most of this decision making power is spiritual, but that's just my opinion. oh heck, this topic has been derailed completely. maybe i should split it?

you quite obviously are not taking into account the rules posted at the top of this forum. that is extremely rude and disrespectful. these are my beliefs and you have no right to belittle them. by all means ASK me about them if you don't understand , but you have no right to attack my beliefs when you obviously have not thought about it in ways that I have. --------------------- as for the rest of your post, you have every right to your own opinion. you quite obviously put a lot of stock into science, but i have moved past that. and this forum is not called the science forum. it is theories and ideas. science is an option but it is not the rule here. take care what you post and remember to respect other peoples opinions and beliefs. I won't tolerate you being rude to People in this way. (I'm talking about others as well, your earlier post was potentially rude to others)

I respectfully disagree. I don't believe that the fact that birds etc sing and dance.. explains how humans have music and dancing. I don't dance to attract a mate. I'd be having the opposite effect. and i most certainly can't attract any mate when i dance alone in my room to music i like. in terms of natural selection, evolution etc.. music and dancing would not exhist because it doesn't give any advantage in natural selection. I already cosidered how music and dancing exhists i nature.. and i realised that it goes against evolutionary theories. this is my faith. I have not yet decided upon what i believe music and dancing is, or where it comes from... but i have plenty of ideas. and science is not among them. science is simply not advanced enough yet, so i have to rely upon philosophy, my imagination and instinct.

I think for the most part this may be true, but let us not forget the People who start out believing that science is all that there is and that the idea of spirits and a god like entity is plain daft. then through experience of life and almost miracle-like events.. People can gain faith in something. there is a lot of stuff that can not be explained by science. my personal favourite is music. I can't think of any evolutionary advantage to music and dancing. there's so much... and we do take a lot for granted... it's only when you really go beyond what science can prove or disprove that you can really gain an idea of what some people's faith actually is. but then.. what takes one person a lot of thought and analysis to discover can just be taken on trust by another. and the person who believed a certain thing without all the groundwork.. they had an easier time and they hold the same conclusion. if we can say one could be right, how can we say the other can't be right? it's mostly a question of believing others without questioning. and there are a lot of things that People wil believe without question that are not solely restricted to religion. anyone watch the tv show QI? thanks for that

The Dark Knight
you guys really enjoy the cinema! over here People live up to hte stereotype when in the cinema. everyone is more stuck up about it and hardly ever makes a noise during a movie. and if anyone ever applauded at the cinema screen they would be seen as a crazy person.

The Dark Knight
as times change, tastes change. it's a sad fact that People of today will think that batman is better than something like alien, simply because they enjoy it more at hte moment. normal People don't take into consideration the passing of time.. even though the poll might say "of all time" People ignore that and think about the last few films they saw.

Theories of female optimization
to be completely honest, I'm not sure exactly where you're coming from.. but good support prevents chafing. and a suit that is skintight and designed to stretch well.. would completely prevent it. only if a material was thick and with heavy seams, would a problem arise.
-
Theories of female optimization
actually, I think they look quite confortable. that suit looks like it has quite good support.

didn't you know? that's the best part of being a zoalord. you get to appreciate the 'breeze'. this is how Balcus sells it to them. they get told all about it and they are standing there tinking "hmm, I dunno about all this..." balcus smoothly crouches down and grabbing the bottom of his robe, he slowly raises up showing his sandals over his brown woolen socks, then his bare ankles, slowly raising higher and higher... "hmm.. so if i become a zoalord... I get an added bonus? Balcus you can give me such a gift, then I will be glad to be a zoalord. then i can swing freely in hte wind with added weight!! " Purgstal is so pleased he is crying and he can just imagine the parties he could go to. he could impress the ladies by dancing on the bar gyrating his hips about..

The Dark Knight
I just took a look at the website. omg, that site is ridiculous... it took 5 minutes to load the friggin' website.. I don't wanna wait around for a page of information. the idea of a website is to quickly and efficiently deliver a message or information. that website completely fails.. anyway, i got to see the suit.. i agree, that's just wrong... and the city itself.. well it's way too modern looking. I mean, there certainly isn't enough shadows, it's all lines and geommetry. batman is supposed to be all about shadows and ambiguity. he is supposed to instill fear, how can he do that when the city is such a stark contrast against him. gotham city is supposed to compliment batman as a character. that's a thing about the first film that i didn't really like.. it showed that the criminals were afraid of him due to drugs.. it kinda downplayed everything that batman is supposed to be.

The Dark Knight
i feel like I don't like batman anymore. I liked the ones that time burton did.. but these new ones seem a bit too 'standard'.. I mean batman doesn't seem speial at all. they don't really make the character anything special. I much prefer the depiction of tony stark. similar characters, but tony stark just seems more interesting. batman just seems like a guy who sulks a lot. in hte old film, it seemed to add some depth to him with his odd humour on ocasion. or rather.. the way he reacted to situations in a deadpan way.

About the bible...
I don't think you sound dreaful or hateful. I think you sound down to earth and sensible. it is wonderful to have faith in yourself. because once you can have faith in yourself, you can extend that to that which is beyond yourself. This is what i believe in some respects.. that God starts in your heart and spreads out. that god isn't in some other place.. but god is your own love, your own trust in yourself.. god may be 'trust' and 'love' itself. or not, just some suggestions. I think that any faith in anything should be a beautiful pure thing. I mostly have believed that i am just ME. and i am isolated, an individual that is separated fro existance and yet able to communcate with others through various means. but one time.. a few days ago, I had the stranges tthought.. what If I am not just me.. what if I am mmore than just me, and I just don't realise it. it was a startling thought and I didn;t quite understand it at the time and i stil can;t make head nor tail of it. but I felt an element of truth there, so much that i have never felt before. well it's one of those things where you just shrug your shoulders and move on. no point dwelling on it too much, or it'll just turn you crazy. anyway.. derfintely have faith in yourself if only that. People who don't have faith in themselves are those kinds of People that become crusaders. I mean, I think this is a good thing.

About the bible...
yes it is never good to impersonate somebod yelse. I think that everyone is free to think their own thoughts though. I mean, you can never force somebody to be a believer. to give misinformation though.... i guess it does manipulate People a fair degree. is it dangerous? hmm.. insofar as the groups of People remain in power and teh country remains stable, i think it not dangerous, rather maybe a bit safe. but then safe is not always good. if everyone stayed safe, the cultures of teh world would collapse. because nobody would go out. I do think thogh.. that People will only follow something if they feel it is right i their very soul. a lot of People these days turn their back on religion. a lot of People investigate many different religions to find ideas that feel right to them. the bible is an intersting thing. I have spoken to a number of new and born again christians about it. People who choose to be a christian rather than be indoctrinated. they each have their own views on hte bible and what parts are literal, what parts are metaphor.. what parts are simply misinformed or outdated.

GUYVER max factory Figures?
I thought the forbidden planet in london was a bit rubbish to be honest. if you want Guyver figures you need to look in the shops in akihabara. but that requires travelling to hte other side of teh planet so it might be a bit much. check the internet. that's the only option really.

About the bible...
I don't think it's fair to say that, it comes across a little judgemental. I think it might be wise to rephrase it?
