CustodianGuyver Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 yes, I heard that about the remake. I have to admit, the movies weren't great, bit I really love the robot and it's voice actor's very lively and well done personality. I think only R2-D2 and Wall-E have earned as much love from me when it comes to robotics. As a kid I always wondered about how it would be in a future when your mind is placed in a machine. Technichally you still die, because your body and mind dies. But your memories and possibly your personality may still remain in a machine. Though I have no clue when that will be possible. At best, we can only map and make a blueprint of your mind so far. But it's still a very cool concept. With this technology you could possibly keep someone on par like Einstein around for centuries still helping humanity. But then again, you can preserve a monster like Stalin or a madman like Hitler around for eternity and cause endless conflict. George W Bush and his friends at white house for eternity {forever} yeah that would be also fun. Lots of wars been planed for Resources and causing an eternal world war 3. People like mother Terzia,Oprah Winfrey and other kind people who actually help other poorer fellow humans like those from Africa. Out of 6 billion people in this world there are probably few hundred kind saintly people who actually help other and not create wars, rape, steal and destroy this world. Those should receive treatment to live forever when if such a technology becomes possible. I know who will get that technology very rich and famous fake people. I don't want Bradd Pitt aka moron or David Becham aka homo living forever no thanks. People like Vguyver who care and support family members should receive 300+ year life extension to help and educate young people to become responsible adults early on. Good role models should live far longer and no not those famous people who take drugs act really arrogant and are plain dumb. 90% are anyway. For me it would be a bad idea to make me live forever since I would study to become scientist then use my 500+ year experince to try to create Space Marine or some super advanced human. More stronger more faster more smarter this new human super omega cordinator. It would just say why follow this small weaker species I know lets exterminate em all. I would be remember as a mad scientist who destroyed the human race.  Quote
*V Guyver Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 As much as many of us hate Bush Jr. He is none the less comedy gold. Thanks for the compliments, but like I said before, I'm not that worthy. lol. I've often wondered what I'd do if I had the option. A part of me really wants to live long. I'll get to see time pass by and maybe stay in touch with those you like. What attracts me the most is that I will still be able to learn new things, to study and teach. Of course, if I could surf the web and play videogames for eternity.... now that would be especially cool too. But there are things that don't change, you may still have to see love ones come and go, live and die. Some may not accept you for what you've become. Although you are no longer flesh and blood, chances are you'll still have to worry (provided you even still have emotion and the capability to do anything) about your health. Do I need a new body, is my OS no better then windows Vista? Do I have backup for my memory and and functions... least I become a virtual vegetable like one would in real life from brain failure. What if I still have to make an income in this form to support myself? Will the bill run up and eventually my power supply cut off? Then there are the doctor's.... err technician bill to keep my running smoothly. Then I'd have to worry about interaction, how would I communicate, or hell, if I can go on the web, how do I avoid scammers, porn, and virtual STD's (viruses of course) from a cookie browser I fell in love with. For all the good, there is the bad. Last think I want in such a place is to have to share a virtual hard drive with psychotic Christopher Walkin and a FPS Dick Chaney (we'll shoot me in the back while playing Halo 9 and claim it was a hunting accident, no less.) from beyond the grave. *zeo Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 and a FPS Dick Chaney (we'll shoot me in the back while playing Halo 9 and claim it was a hunting accident, no less.) from beyond the grave. Nah, that'll be anti-file sharing, anti-net neutrality, anti-privacy Biden who wants to make 1984 a reality. He's already trying to pass a bill that will give 1 billion of our tax dollars to helping the RIAA spy on us for our own good... Combined with the far left pro-choice-ers who'll decide who should live and who should die, prompted by the rampant overpopulation of an virtually immortal population would put in place Logan's Run style population control policies. That or the socialized health care, which has already been tried in two states, will so bankrupt the system, like it has in those two states, that they'll just randomly, and not so accidentally, cut you off. Then there are the so called celebrity environmentalists who use gas guzzling private jets, SUV's, don't recycle, etc. Gee, if the right is so bad why don't we just run right over to the insane left... Not! Quote

Larz Zahn Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 this is a reply to v Guyver from the moved posts. about robot jox. that movie and the first one crash and burn were really great movies. i loved the concept that war has been outmoted and now they have arenas where two giant robots duke it out. it reminds me of a low tech g gundam, even down to the cockpit. its a really good idea. i only saw crash and burn once so i dont remember a whole lot of it, just a giant robot coming out of a mountain or something like that. Super Existence Posted August 28, 2008 Author Posted August 28, 2008 Robot Jox rules. The acting's terrible though. Crash and Burn is guff it's abotu a group of people and one of them is a killer android they have to discover. Quote
*V Guyver Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Yes, the movie is a classic. They've had two other immitators over the years, G Gundam (goofy carbon copy of the plot in Anime form and Gundam brandname... and dare I say just as bad acted in english dub?) and Robo Warriors (live action movie) which triggered my memories from watching Robot Jox when I saw it in portugal (I was 4 at the time).
