Matt Bellamy Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 I think studios are jealous that something is coming out this week... A trailer for Star Trek Beyond has been released! I think it's interesting that the ship might not play a large part in this one. A bold move if true. Quote
Salkafar Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Well, at the very least it looks enjoyable. But it altogether lacks gravitas... Is it possible at all for Hollywood to make space opera that is in no way ironic? (Well, yes, it is, as we know from Sunshine, Interstellar, The Martian...) Quote
Sully Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Reminds me of Star Trek 3, the Enterprise didn't to much there either, other than be stolen and explode. Quote
*guyverfan Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 looks good, hopefully its packed with new sequences rather just regurgitated ideas from 1&2. don't think i can sit through another movie which shows the enterprise rising up through clouds, smoke, vapour etc......again! not to mention another space jump. please JJ, do it once and move on mate! JJ has nothing to do with Star Trek anymore. He's all about that "Other" Star series of movies. Quote
Super Existence Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 It looks like some weird pantomime or music video, nothing trek about it. Quote
*guyverfan Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 are you sure about that matt? was pretty sure i saw a interview with jj saying that he wouldn't of ever imagined that he'd be producing two big branded scifi movies at the same time in his carrier, reffering to startrek&starwars. i could be wrong thou? as i didn't see any lensflare in that preview. I just checked... He is listed as a PRODUCER, but he certainly not directing it. And I am sure his role as a producer is probably limited due to the fact he's now fully intertwined into Star Wars. I bet that credit is due more to the fact he started working on Star Trek Beyond before he landed Star Wars... But I can't find out his exact involvement that gave him the Producer credit. But he certainly did not direct it, thus the lack of lense flare and other "JJ-isms" Quote
