Wow, some good subs out real quick.

So it turns out Lyle actually works for the other Anti-Government group that is opposing the "Arrows" ( Until I see some official source calling them otherwise, I will be calling them Arrows)... so he's not just a civilian.

The Government peace keeping force is actually called the "A - Laws" not Arrows as speculated on the net. I've heard from a reliable source who has seen the new GN-XIII model kits on pre-order lists. :Runnykine:

Still not "official" for me.

Model kits manuals are full of errors as, Mark Simmons ( Gundam Guru of the Western world, and actually works for Bandai as a translator) has pointed out on numerous occasions, they may be a source for some material, but the japanese language is not an open and closed translation. Especially since the official site when ran through multiple translators comes up with "arouzu"as the organisations name. But that's half the fun of the Japanese language.

For simplicity sake, I'll just start calling them the Titans and be done with it =P

we are going to have to wait a bit then until the subbers agree on what they want to call it. Though most seem to be calling them A-Laws. I guess these are this Gundam universe's version of the tyrannical Titans

Yeah, that sounds better, but even Wiki has it as A-Laws... though when we look at the Japanese page it says ARROWS. We'll see how it works out once they explain the meaning of the name, then fans can properly name it all. I seriously don't want it to end up like the silly official translation that Capcom has for the evil crime group in street fighter. In the Anime and games, it is usually listed as "Shadoloo", but it's supposed to be "Shadow Law", much like how "Geass is supposed to be "Geas" and a "Diabolo" is "Diablo".

Maybe we should be calling it Arrow-Laws (or Law-Arrows, could be that they are meant to be straight/honest...) since I think the A stands for ARROWS in A-LAW and them being the embodiment of law enforcement.

One quick note though... Ribbons, he seemed to be able to confirm the Gundam's appearances through the eyes of other people. I have no idea if the series has NewTypes, or androids/cyborgs, but he definitely is not normal.

You mean the guy who piloted the Flag and fought against Setsuna and the Exia in Eps.25....yeah, it does look a lot like him though I bet his face is pretty badly scarred from the explosion of the two mobile suits.

That mask guy certainly looks a lot like Graham.

That "mask guy" is Graham Acre! :Runnykine: I'm just hoping to see a full operational GN-Flag in action this season and not some rush-job like what we saw during the end of the 1st season.

I think the Earth Federation may have captured one of the original GN Drives/Solar Furnace from the remains of the Gundam Kyrios when they captured Allelujah. Since the new model GN-X and Ahead mobile suits appear to perform better in battle than the original GN-Xs and Gundam Thrones. I think the Federation scientist may have been able to improve on the Fake-GN Drive/Solar Furnace designs by studing the original GN-Drive/Solar Furnace from the wrecked Gundam Kyrios.

The new model Seravee Gundam looks awesome, I cann't wait to see it use the GN Bazooka MKII.

Yeah, Ribbons seems to be able to connect directly to Louise Halevy. I think she may have been genetically or cybernetically enhanced after she signed up with the A-Laws. I still cann't believe Louise Halevy signed up with the A-Laws, talk about a surprise kick in the nuts!

Well, if you had your entire family and extended family, on top of having your hand blown off as well... I'd be pretty motivated to attempt killing every Gundam pilot out there or likely traumatized and scared... now she's actually all of that. Which reminds me, considering she couldn't regrow her hand, she must of gotten a transplant or prosthetic hand.

I'm digging Grahams new face mask, much cooler then any masked character in the past with it's design. It looks like a samurai mask, and it's kickass.

Isn't it almost always like that with these masked characters in the Gundam universe. They were masks to either hide their true idenities or cover bad facial scars. They use fake names (alias) and are usually mysterious pilots of their groups. Durendal, if I remember correctly Gundam Wing had Zechs and I know both the original Gundam and Gundam Seed (Original Seed and Destiney) had these types of characters as well. Am I correct on that? Or did I miss a few series that had maksed characters?

Let's see.

Original Gundam was Char Aznable, the red comet.

Z Gundam has Quattro Bagina, actually a poorly disguised Char Aznable, and instead of wearing a mask and the eyes exposed, this is the other way around. He wears sunglasses.

Gundam F91 = Garozzo Rona

V Gundam = Chronicle Asher

G Gundam = Schwarz Brueder

Gundam W = Zechs Marquise

Turn A(way) Gundam = Harry Ord

Gundam Seed = Rau La Cruise

Gundam Seed Destiny = Neo Loanorke

I just watched Eps.2 of G00 S2 and all I can say is this, DAMN! Now that's how a Gundam should fight.

The Gundam 00, as we know, has 2 solar furnaces / GN drives. The one on the right side is from the original Gundam 0 while the one on the left is from the Exia. Setsuna used the GN particals from both drives to act a shield so he could protect himself from enemy fire. Ingenious. I just wish the fight lasted longer. But it was still one hell of a mobile suit battle.

Not to mention but I think Saji found out that the Gundam Thrones were responsible for what happened to Louise and were classified as the enemies of the original Celestial Being. Couldn't tell cuz this episode isn't subbed yet.

I find it intresting that the Mobile Suits are now using Lances like those seen in Geass. Typically, Gundam anime avoided using lances because it hasn't been a practical weapon in the since the late 1400's. Kinda cool to see the weapon make a comeback.

And yeah, Episode 2 was pretty cool. :)

Well, if we all know Graham like we do he'll most likely be piloting a new Flag type.

As for the subs this time around. I'm leaning towards both conclave and shinsen subs for the fan-subbing. Oh, Shinsen-subs just released Eps.2 a couple of hours ago.

Why is it that all the releases I see are either MKV or MP4. Don't they have any love for old fashioned AVI anymore?

Oh wait, shinsen released an AVI version. Let me retract that.

I love AVI and WAV for the quality retention, but people have started to stop using both because several media players are moving away from those formats. It sucks because I sometimes rip a CD (or music from a PS1/PS2 game) to copy as a backup on trips, but my PC won't play the rips aside from WMP because Winamp and others just don't want to hear it.

Posted

Well, I do believe they are doing this because of the HD releases. Some people do burn what they download into HD media and watch it in their HD entertainment set. However, not everyone can afford the HD and some, if not most people watch what they dl on the PC. I also happen to be one of those people who watch on the PC. This is because I have better sound system in my PC than in our conventional entertainment set.

Also as not to get off topic, I have not yet seen the second episode, but I do hope that the upgrade wasn't that substantial. Just at par with the current technology. I would prefer that they be uber badass because of their piloting skills and not because of their new toys.

Posted

Well, it would be cooler like that, but the pilots have proven themselves pretty badass, specialty Celestial Beings super soldier. They had already fought for an extended 24 hour period with only 4 units against 3 combined super power's armies made up of thousands of troops, hundreds of mobile suits, and countless artillery and long range bombers to top it off. Yet they still managed to hold them back for a bit before finally being captured.

Also, the extremely cool first episode of Season 2 showed just how skilled the pilots can be. Setsuna went around piloting a a damaged 4 year old Exia (Which was still missing an arm and armor plating) and still managed to wipe out a number of mobile suits and soldiers that were in better condition then him. I actually would of loved to see that version of Exia having fought more, because it looked so freaking cool as a battered up Gundam with one glowing red eye and it's damaged parts covered concealed with a cape like covering.

Besides, strategy wise, it makes sense that if you are facing off against superior numbers and troops, that you'll need superior equipment and tactical finesse to win. Too bad we wont have many plots based around Gundam pilots who could out pilot 20 mobile suits instead of simply over powering them all.

Yeah, I hate DLing stuff in MKV and MP4 format. Though I do find the rare MKV that doesn't have the screwed up subtitles in which the subs look like they were from an AVI.

As for AVI releases, almost all of shinsen-subs releases are in AVI format but they have been know to release a few MKV versions of their work as well.

For me, it's whoever releases it first and I'm sticking with both Conclave and Shinsen as they both do a good job.

This just occurred to me but I think the MP4 format is made for portable devices. Since there are a lot of generic portable MP4 players in our region, I'd like to guess that this is one factor.

Getting back to the story, I'm very pleased at the start at how they made the 00 somewhat less formidable due to compatibility issues. But I was disappointed when they did the predictable. Put Setsuna in the cockpit and the MS fixes itself. And since Setsuna did managed to hand the A-laws butt in a platter using only his outdated Exia, I guess I expected more when he used the 00. You know, dispatching them with ease or little effort (which he did, but I imagine him doing it a little more badass). Don't you think that using the Trans-Am system is just a little bit like cheating?

I guess the GN particles is something similar to the Minovsky particles. Because I just saw how they easily diffused the beam weapons.

Posted

I think he only activated the Trans-Am system to jump start the syncro rate of the twin drive system. Once he launched from the ship it wasn't activated anymore. Easy to tell cuz the Gundam wasn't glowing red.

From the preview to the next episode,

it looks like Alleiluja is gonna join up.
