Obviously you're not going to stop a palette swaps. I do suggest if you have the live action movie guyvers as extra unlocks, keep Dark Hero the way you have him now, and the first one should have his horn down like how it was most of the movie.

  • ok here is stage 2. Is this the sort of thing you're after? what needs to change before we can consider it a final design?   (the jpg compression on this is awful. I hate this forum software)

  • good work Odin.   btw, you should check out the height chart I did ages ago. Cannibal saved it to his site - http://guyver-world.ru/guyver-wallpapers-3.html I probably exaggerated guyot a bit, b

well, that was the intention, just pallet swaps for Sho if the person does not want him to have his original colors he can choose between those, you bring a good point about the movie version tho, I was considering also including the awesome sound effects he has in the movie as a bonus. There will be other available characters that are different from sho, I just wanted to show this pallet swaps for fun and as sho is a character that I'm working also for MUGEN a fighting game engine. :)

huh..I just noticed the quality of the sprite sheet was reduced, I'm going to have to upload it vertically to see if it does not lose quality.

Edit: done, fixed the images.

Looks really awesome!  The color palette I think encompasses all the colors that is accepted by the majority of the fanbase.  If you don't mind my asking what other characters do you intend to include?  I know you mentioned about having Guyver's 1, 2, 3 and Aptom's Bio-Freezer form, but are you also planning on including other Zoanoids or perhaps Zoalords?

  • Author

I will include as many characters as I can, since this is a Beat-em-up game a large variety of enemies will be needed which the Guyver series has in spades. So yea, Zoanoids and Zoalords are obvious candidates, with the regular Zoanoids we can vary with their human and transformed forms since the Chronos soldiers carry guns as well. If you mean PLAYABLE characters so far only Sho, Agito and Aptom are going to be playable, maybe during the development I will include Valkiria and Imakarum but it all depends on what kind of story we will go for.

I was just having a think about it, and I was wondering, will this be similar to castlevania in some ways?

I was thinking in between stages, maybe there is a world map. it's just how i was picturing it, maybe you planned another type of structure?

If you are planning on having any cutscenes... I may be able to help out in some small regard.

I was not planing on making it a castlevania style, more like a final fight :

The option to choose what stages to fight is a good option, some Beat-em ups have that option as well Cutscenes. what kind of cutscenes did you have in mind?

Also, someone requested me on another forum a Guyver 3 sprite, I was not planning on making him but since somebody was interested to see what I could do how could I not do it? so here is a quick sketch I just did about an hour ago and his sprite, enjoy:

I thought that an already existing aspects of the game would be good, something so bacico as an elimination tournament cast by the creators, to determine which of their own experiments is the best, or something, and I think something good always biene like this, here I leave a very good fighting game hope interested,

is created by Jesulink and I think it's interesting to play

That is interesting but making it a fighter would be too time consuming when coding and spriting, I'm going to adapt Sho in the M.U.G.E.N. engine but that is about it, a beat-em-up or a platformer would be a better choice to me, thanks for the suggestion anyways Alk

nice work odin.

i cant really help, but i do have a voice - so if you need a voice actor, im here..

Well you can send me a demo reel (I think that is the word) with the different voices you can make consistently and I'll see what characters are available for you to voice in the game. :)

it would be easier if you let me know what voices you were thinking of...

this makes me laugh thinking that in the oavs there are some london cockney and maybe even scottish accents that they threw in for some reason :) i can do those accents if need be!!

but seriously do you want zoanoid voices or just character voices etc?. i'm not sure???

  • Author

Try both, the most common enemies you will face will be the Cronos foot soldiers so try doing some voices for them like saying that they have guyver 1 on sight and are beginning pursuit, you can also do the voice of your favorite Zoalord if you like, nobody has called dibs on them yet.

Odin I don't remember who was the original author for these pixels, but I thought they could provide a reference for character design and their color palettes.

Thanks, I have seen it already before and I started using that sheet as reference.

what kind of cutscenes did you have in mind? I was planning on making them in-game but I'm curios to know what you had in mind.

I was thinking of something like in tales of graces (or other tales games?)

it could be super difficult with guyver though, it's hard to draw those guys.

so animated then? it is not a bad idea, it will take some time tho, I was working on a animated intro for the game and the cutscenes would be In-game meaning that the dialogue and story events would be used using scripted sequences with the sprites. anyways I think it is about time I make another progress report of the game this time one of the stages that i'm working with : the narisawa bridge as well as silhouette for one of the bosses that you will fight, try to guess who. also do you think the stage has decent proportions? would you like to see it at day, at night or both?

Bingo, I will probably make him with and without his battle armor for later, I will post more stuff later today, got something you guys will probably like.

well since it is a fan game and the story is non-canon I don't see why not, I will have to do some sketches to see how Guyot would look bioboosted, have you seen any fan art around the internet with such a concept? it would help with my design.

Very cool, can't wait to see Guyot completed, should be pretty badass.  I like the bridge concept and I think the stage size is appropiate.  I'm assuming that you're still sticking with a fighting type game.  Are you considering the idea of having the stage the same size, but having the characters closer up and making the arena somewhat like a sidescroller?  Similar to Marvel vs Capcom?

The fighting game Idea is something else I'm making for fun, the game will be a beat-em up to a style similar to final fight or beats of rage, the stage will be sidescrolling so it will definitely be a lot longer than i showed.

Ok, update time, here is an unfinished animation of The guyver doing his megasmasher, does it look good so far? did I get the orbs color right? should I add a frame or 2? sorry for the delay, I'll upload the finished version later tomorrow.

EDIT: my bad, apparently the attachment option does not show the animation so i had to upload through photobucket.
