odin Posted February 4, 2013 Author Posted February 4, 2013 Alright, here is a fixed version, let me know what you guys think. Old New Quote
LordSpleach Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 (edited) I think the chest pieces are a litle too square Sorry, that's what I meant to say but was busy with the NFL Superbowl. And it still does, particularly in the open state. Edited February 4, 2013 by LordSpleach Quote
*Jess♥ Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 I was thinking the same as LS, the plates look square, but it's not because of corners, it's because of the edges. the edges follow a perfect line and it makes it look too basic. it's because it appears like a flat plane stuck to the front of him. needs some perspective and moulding. like this 2 Quote
odin Posted February 4, 2013 Author Posted February 4, 2013 Alright, I'll give it a look and see what i can do. Quote
odin Posted February 9, 2013 Author Posted February 9, 2013 Here is the first development video of Guyver 01 on the MUGEN engine, just putting the basic idle sprites as well as his jabs, nothing special at the moment, also testing out his size against Goku Z2 made by Balthazar. Quote
Guyver0 Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Looks pretty good, still can't for the finish product. Quote
*V Guyver Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 <div>I'm impressed, the project has come along nicely and the sprites are not as shabby as one would expect from some artists. </div> <div> </div> <div> <div></div> </div> <p> </p> 1 Quote
odin Posted February 13, 2013 Author Posted February 13, 2013 I'm glad you like it and thanks for the silhouette of Bioboosted Guyot, I can definitely work with this, lots of updates coming later this week guys. Quote
odin Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 Ok here is something i would like someone to help me out if possible and that is Sound Effects, I would really like someone that knows how to rip sounds from videos and rip the sound effects that the guyver does in the 2005 anime as well as The Dark Hero movie, I can do it myself but it would slow down my spriting so if anybody can help out on this particular thing I would highly appreciate it, no voices, just sound effects. Divine-Guyver Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Ok here is something i would like someone to help me out if possible and that is Sound Effects, I would really like someone that knows how to rip sounds from videos and rip the sound effects that the guyver does in the 2005 anime as well as The Dark Hero movie, I can do it myself but it would slow down my spriting so if anybody can help out on this particular thing I would highly appreciate it, no voices, just sound effects. I don't know much about ripping sounds either. but I would just find the sounds you want online. I think the sounds from the dark hero and the guyver anime(2005) can be found on the internet. Quote
odin Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 That's the thing, I have tried finding it on the internet with no success at the moment, I know I had the dark hero effects a long time ago but I don't remember where I got them from hence why I'm asking for some help. Quote
*V Guyver Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 The effects can be done, best program for that is Any video converter. When I need to rip a certain soundbite, including sound effects, I note down the episode, scene, and time and take that video file into an editor and trip it down, once that clip is trimmed down, i convert it to MP3 format. Now the real trouble is going through all those video scenes to actually find the clip you want, and often more than not, some music or audio chatter gets in the way, I am unfortunately, not any good at cleaning up audio. You cna sometimes get lucky and find a silent scene and just have a silent setting with sfx bits for tension an drama and build up. One of the better episodes on the new Guyver series was that bit when Sho was sneaking out to rescue his dad, jsut enough silence to hear some good clean sfx. There was a guy who was a pro at it on FFshrine, he took all the audio in the Batman tas series, and managed to rip most of the music off the series in every episode, and somehow managed to make some really clean audio despite everything thrown at him. it had something to do with taking sections of the sound files, playing around with the equalizer and increasing/decreasing left or right stereo channels. Since I'm partially deaf, I'm no good at that. Quote
odin Posted February 18, 2013 Author Posted February 18, 2013 Ok, here is something i want to share with you guys that I just did, which is the Lifebar that will be used in the game the green bar is obviously life while the blue bar is the boost dimension energy, certain moves consume X amount of Boost energy and once you have used one bar you have to wait a while for it to fill up, let me know if you like the look. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 question. life bar... indicating damage done to the body versus speed of healing? but is there any thought given to powerful hits to the control metal? is this something that will feature? Quote
odin Posted February 18, 2013 Author Posted February 18, 2013 the control medal weakness would be pretty hard to incorporate via gameplay, maybe some enemies have certain moves that can aim for the medal? I think it would be pretty hard to do something like that, the characters will have regenerating health tho, that is a must, I will post more stuff later today, I'm finishing up some animations. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 oh, I forgot to say, the health bar does look good. it's pretty clear and easy to read. Quote
odin Posted February 18, 2013 Author Posted February 18, 2013 I'm glad you like it, as promised here is another update for Guyver 1's animations, his walking forward is done and I'm currently doing him using his HF blade i posted 2 at different speeds so you can see it more clearly. Normal speed slow speed Walk forward animation (finished for now, I may change it in the future ) Quote
LordSpleach Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 The walking animation is too unnatural. The knees need to bend. Quote
odin Posted February 19, 2013 Author Posted February 19, 2013 I guess it does a bit, I was aiming more for a sliding animation more than traditional walk since i want him to look like he is maintains his guard while advancing forward, I'll try a more traditional walk and see how it fairs, walking animations have always been a hard to do for me depending on the character. Quote
*Kenji Murakami Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Good preliminary work, though; the animations look nicely smooth. Quote
*V Guyver Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 You're animation is still looking good, the Power bar looks alright too, though I would suggest changing the color to something slightly brighter. If the bar empties and it's black, you can see how loss of health wont be as obvious, a slightly brighter green might do the trick. As for the control metal gmaeplay, I do have a suggestion. Out of all the characters in the Guyver series aside from the G1 VS G2, only elegan has actually caused real impacts to the control metal (no the movies don't count) His electrical attacks would stun and short out the Control Metal. So my suggestion is that you at least have elegen as an enemy that can stun the guyver for a few frames of animation before you can regain control. Maybe this doesn't work for your game design, but it's something to consider. Quote
odin Posted February 19, 2013 Author Posted February 19, 2013 Thanks for the suggestion feel free to provide even more feedback as it motivates me even more knowing that people are contributing with this project. Quote
Bio-Boosted Dude Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 About the walking animation, I think I can understand what you're going for and LordSpleach is right. Go to around the 5:00 mark and look at the way Link moves - there's a lot of bounce even though his feet barely leave the ground. Maybe you can take a bit of inspiration from it Quote
odin Posted February 19, 2013 Author Posted February 19, 2013 yes, thanks for the suggestion, I guess I will be using Ryu's walk animation as reference since he moves a similar way as the video you posted, thanks. Quote
