isolation is not good.

this site has grown up since many years ago, but it is very much an island. trying to provide all things but only really succeeding in one area.

the gallery just hasn't taken off and the wiki area of the site is not as well developed as i had hoped.

not to mention google searches and other sites are linking to places other than here for things that we may even do better.

well people will go where they want to go and we can't affect that.

but what we can do is to go where the people go.

or at least join up with those places.

for example, we talk about armoured legends such as kamen rider and super sentai, but in general, people who talk about that like to go to a place like HJU. and they have far more discussion about that.does it make sense for us to compete with them? no.

the guyver wikia has been a source of upset for quite some time for me, since we have a wonderful amount of information in our wiki and a community to easily discuss all the goings on etc. it frustrated me that people would rather develop the guyver wikia rather than develop0 the japan legend project toku wiki. but we can't judge people's choices. there must be a reason why people prefer to develop that, even if it does make me feel sad. so perhaps it is time to remove our wiki? or merge with them somehow? then in so doing, there is a bridge. a bridge that we can help to bring people into this community with.

our twitter account is not working well. I just can't keep on top of it. our facebook page is also not working very well. I am thinking I need somebody to take those over. or they will not be working. to be honest i don't need to extra hassle, I already got so much to do.

the most important thing, that I have said time and time again, and thanks for those who have helped in this regard,

we need to tell people that guyver is here.

if you visit another forum, put our site in your signature. if you tweet or facebook, please let out a blurb every now and then.

we have syndication links at the bottom of every thread. please use them as much as you can!

what is the reason for all of this?

we used to have a lovely community with lots of familiar 'faces'. but people don't come back because there is no talking. there is no talking because we are not getting influx of new ideas. not enough fresh meat.

Quite correct in your assessment that isolation is not good. This is also synonymous to the phrase "no man is an island". It's probably best to delegate some of the site responsibilities to other people. It would really be difficult for you if you handle every single aspect of the site by yourself. What makes a project successful is the collective thinking of all it's members as well as the collective effort to make one great result.

Look at how we do the guyver manga then and now. Then we had people doing certain bits and pieces of the manga and it comes together great. But now, we have a first edition, an advocacy version or any duplicate version of the same thing simply because one version is not compatible with the previous version. It's this kind of process that frustrates everyone. I can imagine Amika being frustrated in translating the chinese scans when I translate the same chapter from the japanese scans.

brilliant, I will make you admin of it.

thanks a whole bunch, you'll really be doing a great deed.

No problem Drag!

What do I need to do on it? Just give an update every now and then about new Guyver chapters released or any other Armoured Legends news?

I'm running a few other pages so I'll do my best.

we pretty much stopped that though. salkafar does one sometimes and changes the dialogue to localise it, someone else might do another version trying to keep the dialogue untouched. any version is valid and i took to loading each version to the manga viewer so people could freely pick.

it is tricky though, because some members also think that guyver deserves the highest quality work as a mark of respect to the author. this is also valid. personally, I don't really care so much right now. the main thing I care about is that people who like guyver can find us easily and talk about guyver until their heart bursts.

it's your choice. anything that makes you feel happy and enthusiastic.

if you are excited about it, then that is the best thing.

A cover photo with 3 'armoured legends' together (eg. Guyver, Kamen Rider, Gundam) would be really cool.

I agree. was that a request or is it something you are planning to do yourself?

if it was a request, I have a lot on my plate so I can't help there right now.

but I am certain there are members around here who can lend a hand.

I'll see what I can come up with, but I'm completely out of the loop when it comes to other armoured legends besides Guyver.

Maybe I'll do a Guyver/White Ranger/Kamen Rider thing?

Hi Ruyki,

It makes me sad & a little guilty after reading this. I was really pleased when I found this site as I loved the OVA when I was a teenager and bought the first couple of Viz releases at the time. I rediscovered Guyver through the 2005 remake and then found this site to catch up. I've been reading every month but have only really chipped in to discussions a couple of times. Guess I'm not really much of a forum person!

Anyway, I'd just like to express my thanks for all yours and everyone involved's hard work on this, and let you know that it is greatly appreciated. It's been awesome being able to keep up to date as the Guyver has been one of the only manga/anime series I've really got into properly and I wouldn't have been able to continue enjoying it if it wasn't for you guys. I'll try my best to get more involved with discussions in the forums from now on as well :-)

All the best

Hi CybErSpicE,

Thank you so much for your heartfelt words! :)

I really appreciate your message but please don't feel guilty for enjoying guyver in your own way.

if you're not much of a talker then that is just fine.

I certainly wouldn't want anybody to feel uncomfortable.

if there is any way you can tell all your friends about guyver and get them excited enough about it to read it and possibly come and talk to us, that would be great.

just share it as much as you'd like :)

You've done up the front page and redone the forum skin, I think a change makes everything feel a little more fresh and could potentially make the community a little more active. It's at least one step in the right direction ryuki.

thanks bbdude, yeah I decided the design i had been working on was not going to be upgraded to animation status any time soon so I better utilise it as a static design.

also you are right, that was also part of my thinking.

shake things up, people pay attention.

heh heh, thanks :D

yeah I changed my name back. also changed my signature.

to be honest, I have held back a lot of what I wanted to do.

I wanted to really cut the forum down, delete a lot more than I actually did.

but I need to consider the member-base more than my own wishes.

No worries Ryuki, just hated the idea of you or anyone else on here feeling their hard work wasn't appreciated! I'll be sure to spread the word to any of my manga loving friends (although unfortuanately not many of my friends are into manga!)

While I'm here, I'm happy to help out with the Twitter page if you need it :-)

Wow, I'm liking the new look. Sorry for being gone for so long. Work, writing, editing stories for other fanfiction authors, it takes a lot out of my time. But I like the new flow, bro. And don't worry, I have a link to the site here on my fanfiction_dot_net account in case people are curious about Guyver in general and the science behind it.

And everytime I find someone interesting in learning something new about Guyver or those who have never seen the series and are interested to learn more, I direct them here all the time.

cheers dude.

I think the changes were for the better.

the way people are interacting is a little different in some ways and i think it is giving the community a better all round vibe.

I wanted to do more, but of late I have had a period of being super mad busy.

thanks for sharing your thoughts :)

I know what it is I want to do though.

I don't want to run a huge Anime site.

I just want to feel that what I am doing is worthwhile.

scaling down the site is actually achieving that much more than scaling the site up would.

scaling it up, would bring trolls and flamefests etc.

but scaling down, reminds us of our community.

This place has been really nice recently. I think the scaling down has had a big part to play in that.

also, making sure to focus on the most important things.

Scaling down probably did help and I apologise for bringing up what is probably a dead topic.

I remember the old site, it was about Guyver - that was all. And frankly that's all I care for so I never even looked at the other sections.

About all I can offer is some advice but don't exclude people and as you are already doing delegate :) Then remember you delegated and if they aren't doing stuff, then find someone else.

I had fun working on the original scans 'cos I remember scanning my volumes and then doing what is today not a great job of cleaning but at the time we wanted to put out something - not necessarily the highest quality. Translation wise, we wanted it good, but we didn't care at the time if it looked a bit rough, simply because it is and I think still remains the only scanlation of Guyver and if it's a bit rough it encouraged readers to buy the real thing for a nice smooth picture and stuff like that. I'm pretty sure I have all the volumes to 26 or so and will shop soon for the rest :D

But don't beat yourself up Ryuki (bleh, that name does not suit you!) and go with paragraph 3.

I'm very happy about the way things are going at the moment.

It's not been easy, but I think the right choices have been made.

I think the site is working as it currently is. of course i am lazy and could tie things together much better.

I think at some point, we could do with getting a clear picture of the structure of the wiki and to organise a little bit.

also, I could do with fixing up a decent header to tie the whole site together fully.

to be honest, before I do that I want to get forum software up to scratch which probably means saving the money and switching to vbulletin.
