Ova, hands down!

Really? I thought she was more obnoxious in the TV series and portrayed too much like the typical anime schoolgirl. She freaks out just because Sho takes his shirt off in the cave for crying out loud. -___-

Also, no boobs.

I preferred the anime because I like Aptom and Richard Guyot ( I mean I also like Guyver 1 and Guyver 3 but we see them in action all the time), because I got to see them in action more and it was closer to the manga. We didn't get a lot of that in the old OVA. The OVA was more eye candy to me than it was helpful with the story at all.

TV series! :)

Much more fleshed out story, some things got snuck in that hinted at future events and explained things (the flash back that Shizu had of Agito in their youth, for one example), more characters were involved deeper into the story, and it was set out to be faithful to the manga from the outset (The OVAs were made to cash in on the manga, but out of fear of leaving cool stuff out, Team 5 got intro'd much earlier in the OVAs than in the manga or TV series).

Also, no boobs? The TV series was made with US and European audiences in mind, and I'd bet some offense would be taken at seeing Mizuki naked (the Viz version of the manga had Mizuki redrawn in a bra and panties as well). OVAs can and do get away with a lot more stuff than something intended for TV does. And besides, later in the manga, we get to see Shizu and Val naked, I'd argue there that those looking for fan service didn't miss out on a ton, anyways LOL ;)

Sorry, I just took mild offense to the "no boobs" comment. I can admire the female form, but it's not very fan servicy IMO when Aptom was threatening to kill her and it was more of an attempted rape/murder scene than something I'd consider suitable for titillation, which very little of the manga scenes are aside from Val's ENF moments. ;)

Sorry if I caused offense, and I did believe it was a joke.  But the Mizuki being naked thing wasn't going to work in a TV series format, especially one aimed in part at America and Europe.   And that does, even if not intentional, does take away from one of my favorite things about Guyver--that the women are more important than window dressing.  Shizu is an ass-kicker bookworm and the sane one in her relationship with Agito,  Natsuki is the brains with Tetsuro, and Mizuki represents humanity and the reason why Sho fights.

But as I did say, even with that one scene edited, you don't really miss out on much.  Only later in the manga with Shizu (usually in a glass tube) and Val's armor retraction ENF moments do things really get "interesting" LOL.

Yall, the question was, which Mizuki version was most annoying. Not which version of Guyver was best. I picked the ova because of the English dubbing, because shot if her lines strained my ears. Sho! I need you to believe in me! That line alone nearly made me turn the show off. Petty maybe, but her voice detracted from emotional scenes in my opinion. The subbed version was better

I did answer what I though was the better series, but I also felt that I had to answer to why the nudity from the OVA wouldn't fly in the TV series.

Age could also be a factor, though both series appealed to teenagers.  But in the manga, Mizuki said she was 16 when the events at Takishiro happened.  Hence, for that reason, it could've been a censorship issue to avoid any legal issues/questioning.  Age of consent in Japan is 14, but it most US states and European countries, it's 17-18 years old.  So that could've been an issue as well.

But I do feel that the TV series is better, because it's more "up to date" with times and technology, and it does flesh things out more and give hints at stuff later in the manga's storyline

Wasn't the line - "I need you to trust in me"?

Too bad they never made a  season 2 to the 2005 anime. That would have been bad ass. Too be sincerely honest. I think the Guyver is slowly gaining popularity in the real world among the younger generations. The 2005 has many good reviews. Nothing bad as far as I can see. I think more and more people will be looking at it as time goes by and than we'll see a reboot and possibly an established tv series with seasons full of filler episodes, like Bleach or Dragon Ball Z. I can see it happening. I'm totally positive.

I defiantly prefer the new series for the added depth to character development - yes his Father did live there, Lisker got more lines,Team 5 lasted longer.

All I really miss was the OAVs fights and Murakami's old look.

Oh and Steve Blum ☺

Yeah, what I enjoyed about the 2005 anime to the OVA. We got to see the Guyver face off against a Zoalord. That automatically made me like the 2005 version more. We got to see Richard Guyot fight, and he's a bad ass fighter and I loved how Richard was so cocky about being a zoalord. I loved his cocky comments to Murakami like ( quote- "Do you really think you can stand up to the real thing?!? Here, let me show the power of a true zoalord!" as he pumped several rounds of his gravity bullets into Murakami and when Murakami tried to do an energy attack after wards Guyot yelled "Insolence!!" and cut his arm off with a blast from his zoacrystal.-end quote)

The funniest moment that Richard had in the anime was after he tried to kill everyone with his Gravity Crusher and when Barcas told him that Guyver 3 lived, the first words out of his mouth were in a comical rage 'What?!? That Little Bastard SURVIVED!?!?"

What landed Richard Guyot as my favorite villain of Guyver and all time favorite anime villain. I know a lot about Richard Guyot and his attacks. I really enjoyed how he deploys his Quasi Star attack or as we all know "The Quasi Black Hole" that he slapped on Archenphel. I loved how cocky Richard was. He was not afraid of anyone. Richard really showed how we Americans can be at times. If we Americans want something, we pretty much take it. He was well defined in that aspect. He made a great political leader in Cronos and he was successful in completing a lot of his goals. Richard Guyot really was a do it yourself kind of guy. He placed a lot of faith in his god like powers. He didn't seem to like using zoanoids very much, he just saw them just as much useless as humans. He placed himself higher than most and he even held himself higher than Archenphel. Thats what I loved about him. He was well defined in the 2005 anime. I'm glad he's back in the manga. He's too stubborn to die.

Those are some things that I loved about the anime. I liked it that we got to see Aptom eat the hyper zoanoid team 5 minus Thancrus who got cut in half by Guyver 3 from hiding in the ground. That was awesome. I really enjoyed how Sho was discovering at the beginning on how to use the Guyver unit. That was epic and I loved how Agito was more skilled with the unit than Sho was at the beginning.

However, I loved how the 2005 anime played out.

For me overall, I prefer the 2005 anime.

Yeah the OVAs definitely had the better music, fight scenes, and animation(first 6 of course), but I prefer the fact that the anime sticks to the manga far closer than anything before it.

And it still kept Murakami's Gun.

I really enjoyed the music in the OVA series and the 2005 anime. The OVA series had a more fitting music, but I can't see the 2005 as simply a beautiful work of art, if a little out of place at times.

As for Guyot, favorite line.

"Your time is up Richard Guyot! Prepare to die." -Agito

"What the HELL?!" -Guyot
