*Kenji Murakami Posted July 9, 2009 Author Posted July 9, 2009 Who? The Nostalgia Critic, or the Irate Gamer? Quote
Toku Warrior Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Post one of the other two as you've already posted one for the Nostalgia guy. Quote
*Kenji Murakami Posted July 9, 2009 Author Posted July 9, 2009 I don't have any videos from the Irate Gamer; I don't really watch him. And the few videos I have of the Angry Video Game Nerd have a bit more swearing than I think would be acceptable on this forum. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 no none of them. i can't remember... let me think.... zero punctuation. Quote
*Kenji Murakami Posted July 10, 2009 Author Posted July 10, 2009 I've never heard anything about those guys. Do they do videos? Quote
*Jess♥ Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 zero punctuation is one guy. he does great reviews that are down to earth and more often than not says things the other reviewers are afraid to say and has me nodding along and laughing because i know exactly what he is talking about. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/vie...Resident-Evil-5 Quote
*Kenji Murakami Posted July 12, 2009 Author Posted July 12, 2009 Ah, that sounds interesting. But what do you mean, he says things that other reviewers are afraid to? Frankly, I don't know if the Angry Video Game Nerd even has the concept of fear when it comes to reviewing games. Of course, when you have Super Mecha Death Christ on your side, I guess most things just don't phase you. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 I mean, he says it how it is. he doesn't have any hangups about slagging off a certain company... I've not seen hte angry video game nerd, but i don't get the impression he is fair yet firm, I get the impression he is prejudiced. the guy in zero punctuation says things that i have always found annoying and also points out things that i never actualy considered but when he says it it's like " hmm, yeah you're bloody right!" i added a link to hte main page here because maybe you don't want to watch a resident evil 5 review. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation Quote
*Kenji Murakami Posted July 12, 2009 Author Posted July 12, 2009 What do you feel that he's prejudiced about? It seems to me that he hates all bad games equally. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 heh heh, yeah you got a good point. i just watched a load of zero punctuation. after a while the pessimism is hard to deal with would you recommend any of the angry video game nerd? perhaps one with a lot of optemism [emote=onion]cute[/emote] Quote
*Kenji Murakami Posted July 12, 2009 Author Posted July 12, 2009 His Moonwalker review was pretty positive, though he still gets a little freaked out by some of the things going on in the game. Quote
*Kenji Murakami Posted July 12, 2009 Author Posted July 12, 2009 Yeah; one of my favorite parts was when he did the Moonwalk. Quote
LordSpleach Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 I personally like when the AVGN reviews consoles/accessories. Definately watch the POWERGLOVE vid. Quote
*Kenji Murakami Posted July 13, 2009 Author Posted July 13, 2009 Yes; that's one of my favorite vids. The expression on his face when he actually manages to land the plane in Top Gun is priceless. Quote
*Kenji Murakami Posted July 13, 2009 Author Posted July 13, 2009 This is my 2,000th post. This is so cool; I'm actually starting to catch up to my LiveJournal post count. Quote
Mirabilis Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Wow, eum...gee i donmt know wut to say....Should i say congratz lol I am so confused! Quote
*Kenji Murakami Posted July 14, 2009 Author Posted July 14, 2009 Well, it's a pretty big milestone for me. It's been a long time since I've made 1,000. I'm pretty happy. Quote
*Kenji Murakami Posted July 14, 2009 Author Posted July 14, 2009 I've been watching Band of Brothers for about a week now; hoo boy, it's a heavy series. I guess I shouldn't be so surprised, since it is about soldies in World War II, and the closest I've ever come to a real war story is Guyver and Fullmetal Alchemist, and I don't think either of those really count. Quote
Mirabilis Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 What!?! You havent seen Saving Private Ryan, The Patriot, Tears of the Sun, Hotel Rwanda, Pearl Harbor, Black Hawk Down,The Last Samuria, or even We Were Soldiers?! Yeah Band of Brothers is a great story, one of my favorites but The Last Sumaria and We Were Soldiers just grasps me with their majesties. Yes kenji, war films are very dramatic, very truthful (though they might not be based on true events, they are truthful in terms of emtions). If you want to watch any of these i highly recommend We Were Soldiers, I would recommend The Last Sumaria but i think you've alrdy seen it. Quote
*Kenji Murakami Posted July 14, 2009 Author Posted July 14, 2009 I haven't watched Grave of the Fireflies or Barefoot Gen, either. War films kind of get to me, since they're emotinally exhausting by their very nature, and I tend to have a lot of empathy for people. Band of Brothers is all right, because it seems that the violence - horrible as it is - is spaced out over the length of a ten hour series more than it would be in a movie. Also, the longer running-time lets me get to know the characters better, which can be a bit of a mixed blessing given that this is me we're talking about, but if I can't relate to at least one of the characters then the story tends to bore me. LordSpleach Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Watch Letters from Iwo-Jima, and Flags of our Fathers. Great movies from Dirty Harry himself. Both are about the Battle of Iwo Jima, and Flags is the American perspective, and Letters is from the Japanese perspective. They are both counterparts of each other, so their are moments that occur in both films. Quote

*Kenji Murakami Posted July 15, 2009 Author Posted July 15, 2009 Well, the California summer has arrived at last, and you know what that means: heatwaves, sitting around the house and trying to work up the enthusiasm to move, and drinking what feels like gallons of ice waterjust to keep from dehydrating. I really hate California summers. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 your summer seems late? it's almost coming towards the end of summer for us. when do the seasons happen for you? i would have thought that your summer is not that much different from your winter. i mean, not as different as ours. our winter goes to minus 5... and our summer to 32... I'm not sure though, I'm just thinking of the angle of the sun. you must surely get nicer weather. also, If we are recommending war films... I recommend none. I'm more like yourself in tastes kenji. I don't like the depression of war so I tend not to watch them. I hate anything to do with world war 2 in europe.. it's too close to home which is depressing enough even if it weren't to do with killing. Quote
