But much like Matt I do wonder how Takaya would view the fiction.

Maybe we should ask him....if there was a way.

He may give ideas to spruce things up a bit, make the site more dynamic and inject some life back into it.

This is both a bit of Necro of an old tread but from what Matt said it does also reflect on what I feel about the story. I thought about this quite a bit and well here's where I've ended up.

Being burtally honest to myself I let the giney out of bottle when Dreanought graced the fanfic and combined with that the sheer amount of different types of units. Yup he's fun and having a large cast gives more of a story but in the end it's not a pure Guyver story. Don't get me wrong it's being fun but in the end the story wrote itself out in Seven Days plot being too big and at times boring to write. This is mainly because I viewed the story has the last chance to fatten up the cast before future stories will see their numbers decline (that's about has much of a hint you guys are ever goin to get :P ).

So here's the thing.

1. I over all like the story. But to get back writing it I have to for my own sanity get the story back to a point where it's fun and the out of control number of Guyver's is suddenly going to find future plans kicked in the nuts and cut own to make the story work. Future planned stories will work VERY well and being burtally honest the sheer number of cast members isn't needed so IF I return expect death.. lots of death and pain. OVerall this is a fiction I want to end and end well but it has to be worth writing. What happened before being respected so there will be no ret-cons.

Has Matt said the story turned into DBZ... I don't like that cartoon sooo well there ye go why the fic found itself in lymbo for ages.

It has taken a long time for me to get back to a stage where I actually am considering writing again and Seven days is something I dread going back to so need an honest to God good injection of the proper origanal Guyver story before I even dare too.

2. I would like to push the reset button on the whole fan fic. I don't want to do a Star Trek and suddenly have Cyber Guyver reset the story buy killing Jason etc. If and when I do this it will basically be a new begining totally. Basically a lot of the WG fan fic has to do with the lack of what I know now. So expect something a LOT truer to what Takaya wrote though again with the same basic premiss of the Warrior Guyver being that Jason is there in the Warrior Unit. But everything else would be changed, so no Creators, no Solom no well everything but what has happened since Timewar minus the Grakken and a newer story and there you have the re-defined story. Overall the Orginal Warrior Guyver isn't an overpowered beast, a Gigantic Guyver is in fact more powerful so the idea just works for me. Recent events in the books all taken into account this would be a interesting place to go.

Option 2 though will not happen until 1 is complete or at least in a good place where you guys aren't waiting 5 years + for updates. In the end simply holding a gun to the story and obliterating it isn't something I want to do myself. Apart from 7 Days rest of the story that is planned is great to think about and not so draining.

That's perfectly understandable man, even though i'm a huge fan of the site and i'm always on here as often as i can either checking updates or rereading somethings etc I do realize that it does take a lot out of the main story writers to keep really enthusiastic about what they're doing, and seeing it go a different direction would indeed be demoralizing.

But i say do whatever you believe you need to do in order to get things back into perspective and especially to the point where it's once again fun to write. You got my support either way man. :wg:

I personally agree about the creation of Dreadnought started a trend towards ever more powerful characters. I think if we could go back in time, I would have personally just made Dreadnought just what Valkryie is at 12x at the most. Then you have Zeus and a Warrior Gigantic around the same power level, and they would have to rely on their own skills or luck to win a fight with let's say Alkanphel. Then you would always have that one or two beings that are very powerful than one Zeus or Warrior Gigantic cannot take on their own.

Or keep Dreadnought at his old 20x power level.

I always agree with Matt has said about many fans just reusing WG.com created tech for their own version of a Guyver, instead of being original. I mean I have seen people creating everything from a ripoff of the Warrior Guyver to a near copy and paste of Zagam to characters making Anubis look like an insect in comparison. I Have done it, we have all done it, I think at one point or another. WG.com datafiles and the immense number of characters makes it easy.

So it's a curse or a compliment depending on how you look at it.

Yea, although as far as a compliment goes WG.com did kind of open up your imagination to other possibilities and it was a variation from the norm. Although i think eventually someone would have found a way to try and make their guyver character differ from the norm or slightly more powerful than a gigantic somehow. So i think it is inevitable to come to a point such as this before returning to the source.

Thanks guys for the support.

I'll be first buratlly honest here. I don't give a monkeys if someone uses the data files of the fiction to make their onw take ont he story. In the end that's their choice and all the more power to them for doing so. If they do it will enough Will might even add them to the GFA site depending on his mood! :P

Anyway back to the the topic. I've decided a few things.

First off is the fiction has being too overly powered and DBZ like. But it was all done by donest mistakes based on what we knew at the time. The main idea for Chonicals was for it to fix this things. I then continue on the story has is . But that lead onto 7 days and well it just dragged the story out of me and there went the fun. So first and formost while it's not an easy choice to make. There will be ret cons, some minor and mostly they will all be minor. If we loook at Dreadnought for example even if we keep his power level the same he shouldn't be so over powered. IF we got things correct the Warrior Guyver has he was before any upgrades would be about half the power level of a Gigantic Guyver. With the Dreadnought amour if thing where correct he would be about 2 times the power level of a Gigantic Guyver with maybe another 30% on top of that. While still the same level has he is now others around him should be a lot more powerful. This evens out th estory one hell of a lot. taking this into account and then looking back at the old stories will happen over time. So you can get an idea yourself if you look at the old fictions what should have happened if Dreadnought wasn't so over powered. The Guyver Zoalord story though would mostly be ok and strangely this would have the biggest impact on Strange Worlds where Dreadnought wouldn't have defeated the 11 Zoalords sooo easily while the Alkanphel fight would be mostly ok.

Sooo heres the plan.

First off finish 7 Days. Taking the above into account it will not be a pretty match with older fictions in terms of power levels but to be honest this shouldn't give a huge impact to the story and it matching up.

Second I need to do a lot of ret cons to the old stories starting off with Union. Overall this will bring no major changes but things just have to make sense reading the old fiction for the new stuff to be done.

3rd This will also happen with a new site deisgn for the WG fic section and a new WG.com front page and overall site. The Forum will also be getting a face lift. Those fancey designers out there who have cool little Guyver logos etc that they would like to see on the forum please post on another tread and lets get something nice and properly Guyver together.

4th. Star's Guyver page is then my next target it's time this site also got a face lift and new stuff out numbered the old. This will be done arouond the same time has 2 because both are relevent to each other (this will become an on going project and might in fact happen before 7 days is complete).

5th some new short stories based around filling in plot gaps. This will mainly focus on the Guyver Powered Zerabubuse and a show down between him and Dreadnought. This will explain why Dreadnought has a respect for the GPZ by the time of 7 Days.

6th Finally some new stories. Starting off with a new character that isn't a Guyver, Zoaform or something from the Creator (well very in directly them but not the them of this universe) or Grakken forces. "She" (your ownly hint) will be the main character of the story and Dreadnought will only have some minor things happening based around New Cork but that's not the main focus of the story. Has it stands this is an all story based part with zero fights planned so far to even out the crazyness that happened in 7 Days the dust needs to settle and this is the time it happens.

7th a Guyver 4 story filling in what happened while Dreadnought was away in the Strange Worlds story.

And then well that'll be saying but hint = Fiona and it'll be a more action based story.

If I get all that done I'll be one happy fic writer again and get back to some art work too. But overall the above is more important to me than getting drawings done. From what I remember I think we've more art done that characters out there! You guys just haven't seem them :/

Now lets just hope James is still in the editing mood.

P.S. Note old versions of the fiction and possibly the WG site has it is will appear in the archive so don't worry if you liked the old version of the story, that will still be there for you to read.

P.P.S. don't know if I'll do 1 to 7 has they are but overall it should happen that way depending on my urge to get Star's site updated first or not.

Going by zeo's estimate of 5x for the new Gigantic level for Chronicles this would make Dreadnought 13x. Or if your own estimate of the Gigantic being twice as powerful as the Warrior Guyver (interesting), then he would be 8x and then Dreadnought would be about 20x to 21x.

Personally I like the idea of everyone being roughly close to each other in power range. I also like the idea that the Gigantic would still be extremely powerful even when newer types come around.

Posted

Yup, now IF I get the fic done in time and James is up to it you'll see some interesting results. Also a fair amount of Data Files being updated.

Thinking about this more though some stories will need an overhall for this to work. I'm in a way thinking of now doing this first to get me back into the story while writing the main black of what will be 7 days final chapter.

The Guyver Fan Archive will be getting an overhaul too has the old version fictions and data files will find there way in there along with the really old versions of the site.

This is outstanding news. I've always been a fan of WG.com, both the writings and the artwork. You guys have been able to carry on the original series and the recent show with such finesse. The DBZ sort of power levels... I kinda always took with a pinch of salt. It was never about how powerful Dreadnought was or would become. It was always about the character interaction and expanding the original universe and showing what happened to Sho, Agito and the rest of the gang and the addition of the Live action films (You guys made Mutronics bearable) Not only that, you showed the rest of us what else was going on in the end of the world.... Not even the manga does that. I mean you guys made the EDF... Which I'm thankful for, Most Fan Fics based on Guyver either keep in the states or Japan. WG made it something truly global and threatening, I couldn't take much of the original seriously as here you have these creatures with nigh unstoppable powers and all they really do is run and fight around a couple of areas where the general speed that they could travel would take them all over the world during the course of a fight... It's the main reasons I don't like DBZ.

But not only that, the community that has formed up around these creations has endured for many years. I know I haven't been the most active member on the forums but I must check in on the site at least once a week sometimes.

Yes things did start to get a bit silly.... But ultimately we are dealing with something Alien which can never be fully comprehended by our limited primate brains... Who's to say what the creators have come up with since they left earth. If a Zoalord of several millennia ago can destroy a ball of rock the size of the moon..... Then more recent creations would probably be able to wink stars out of existence without so much as breaking a sweat. But saying that (apart from Anubis) you guys have kept things pretty much streamlined and not overly powerful.... Anubis basically been a Demi-God really does show that the WG Fan Fic is pretty tame in comparison to the GWOTG. The contrast has always made things believable. Which is how I've always liked it.... You have a more darker and less sane universe where nothing has limits and people get killed off left right and centre... Always good when you want to read something fairly brutal where the imagination isn't held on a short leash.

But the WG stories always retained a more human element, Something that was lost when Greg was finally consumed by the W'Kar unit.

So don't give up on your creations, not when you have influenced so many people, I completely agree that at the end of the day it's all down to time and personal energy to finish products. So I am thrilled to see Sully holding such interest in things still.

Anyway my rant is a bit pointless. What I would like to say, I'm a digital artist, (just not great with humanoid shapes) I'm also not too bad a writer, just slow at completing things. So if you want any help just ask, my emails and messenger details are in my profile. It would be awesome to finally be part of this site that I've always held with respect and awe.

To be fair to GWotG, the story is based on the Guyver and truly fanfic extension of the orginal story. The story is based around a single character with a incredibly hard burden of not only protecting people but also from himself.

For the most part the story in WG has been fairly linear and I personally agree that the creation of Dreadnought caused a rapid build up of more powerful characters. Remember that the two most powerful characters at the end of All Things part 3 was only Zeus and Kron. If Dreadnought was not Matrix enhanced he would have also been around this power level.

Just my thoughts.

My own Necromancy...

I would just like to say one thing.

Writing is an art that I enjoy. And there are really two major trains of thought.

Those that see taking anything from another as plagiarism and a disrespect to them.

And those that see taking others work and changing it as complimentary.

I for one write a story I made in the backdrop of what someone else has made. I form stories around the ideas presented by Takaya because I love them and enjoy playing in that world, and leaving my own personal brand of creativity.

Tolkien is a great example as well. He threw together a mash of Humans, Elves, Orcs, Dwarves and whatever else to create a setting that he could write in and explore his characters and tell a story. Now can anyone count how many thousands of people have built off of that base and expanded it with their own views and ideas? I can name about two dozen just off the top of my head. Look at one of the most popular book series in America, the Forgotten Realms, created by Ed Greenwood and used as one of the primary settings for Dungeons and Dragons. In there you have a relatively identical in many ways backdrop to Middle Earth, but with such vast differences and powers for the characters that one could say it was a slap in Tolkiens face.

But I don't see it that way.

I see Mr. Greenwood as a kid falling in love with the fantasy realm that was presented to him by Tolkien and deciding he wanted to do his own thing with it. And he wanted others to share in that view. I mean if you were do to a side-by-side comparison the characters of Forgotten Realms outstrip the power of Middle Earth by leaps and bounds, but does that make FR bad for Tolkien? Hardly. Forgotten Realms is enjoyed by probably hundreds of thousands of people as their Fantasy brand of choice.

That's how I see GWOTG at least. Call me what you will, but I love Takaya's work. I love the Guyver backdrop. And it is because I love it that I use it to tell my stories about the characters I make. Not to insult Takaya, but to take what he made and make it my own. In the hopes that what I am enjoying, what I am creating, will be enjoyed by others as well. Heck, I've never stated 'HA HA, we're WAAAYYY better than the Original!" Why? Because that would never be true and I'm certainly not that conceited.

In many ways GWOTG to me has moved beyond the realm of Fan-Fiction for myself. If I wanted to write pure fan-fiction 'By-The-Book', I would scrap GWOTG in a heartbeat. But that's not what I want. I'm a writer. I write. I create ideas and plots and characters. And by god have I improved since my first days.

To others who base their fandom for the guyver on that presented in GWOTG and WG fics instead of off Takaya's original work, that doesn't bother me. I'm sure they love his work too, or they would never have found this. For me it's a compliment for someone to enjoy our works so much that they actually spend time not only reading and thinking about it, but taking it for themselves. For someone to sit down and say.... "You know, I feel like putting my own character in those works and seeing how he/she does. What if I change this and work it towards this... etc etc..." means I have made an impact. It means that like I did, when reading over Takaya's work and dissecting it to add my own thoughts and feelings and work into, someone else has done that with my work. And that feels amazing.

I don't care if anyone writes anything based off of my stories or characters. If you want to write where a giant space cat destroyed Anubis in a cloud of Radioactive Happiness and then made out with Albass on the steps of Mount Doom, be my freaking guest. I'd probably need therapy after reading it, but hey, that means you like it enough to leave your own mark. And maybe... just maybe... one day that persons work will be looked at by someone else who says to themselves 'God, I love this stuff. But what if I could do my own, and add my own ideas and flavor to this'.

I would hope on that day that they would think of GWOTG, and then of Takaya, and say: "Have at it. I hope you find a great deal of joy in doing it because I did and those before me did. I hope you stay up to 2 in the morning thinking and pondering new plots and show your own creative brand".

Nerco'ing threads.... hes only back a day :P

Anyway I'd aggree with Allen here. While yes I want to re-write my story it's for its own good. The story simply doesn't make sense and after reading the translated books I expecially want to be free of the term "Creators", the Gen are my answer to that. My own off-shoot of the Federation that the Uranus are (were possibly who knows what Takaya plans as it's being couontless eons since Alkanphel) and basically be able to write the story as a I like it. More so as a Guyver fan I want it to be a little more correct to Takaya's work. But not so much so that basically the story doesn't work. by now anyone who has read the story will know, I couldn't care about limiting the amount of Guyver's in the story too much. Once it makes logical sense that something made, lost etc the Unit it will join the story. Though do bare in mind, anything that joins the story from this point on was planned years ago. Strangely to us writers we've no more new units other than what is planned. There is a cap on the amount of them.. but I an't saying that now nor will I ever say when it happens. It should be obvous in the story....

Looking back ont his, feck it's being almost a year since I got back to writing stuff. 2010 is looking to be a good year for the site. Allen's back too, there is... can't say but it's another good thing :P And overall I've almost got Time War Part 2 to the stage it will be done. That's my longest ever story 7 Days of Hell finished (finally thank GOD!) and Revenge and Rescue will depend on what goes into Time War's orginal story's to what will be done with them. Rescue though is biggest possible rewrite as I'll be deleting whole parts of the stroy. All Things change basically needs more detail and the Merc's will be handled a little differently.

apart from that the story stories basically will just get new parts and the silly stuff like a Gigantic pushed around removed unless they are facing something like Kron. Those of you who have read the new part 1 of Time War would have read what is basically really the efective start of the story of Warrior guyver. Time War is where the Gen will get their story told. Once that is done I can get back to focusing on the new stories and get this going.

For me as a writer its great to see the story coming back together. Things will move forward now, 2010 isn't over year so lets see what else we can get out there between now and Christmas.

I agree with you totally. I think there are people though who get tired of reading a fanfic that is supposed to based on the Guyver but in reality is based on either WG or GWotG. I have read some that are actually good to a fan-wank Guyver who could blink his eyes and kill Anubis or the Guyver Zoalord. While I agree with this also, but of course the fact they are using your stories is a form of flattery. Whether it is good or bad. It does take time to write a story good or bad.
