Guyot Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 I think Bestbuy must have put it out early because I picked up the new Guyver DVD two days ago. I'm happy to report it's very good with a few exceptions. On the positive side, the animation is perfect, the story follows the manga almost perfectly (which means more Guyver2!), there are a few new suprises that I won't ruin for you that are awesome. A few things I didn't like were some of the voice overs....they should never ever change Guyot's voice. Same for Agito. Not that the new voices are bad, but I miss some of the old ones. Plus the characters pronounced the names kind of weird. Other than that, it was great and I'm very excited to see Guyver back! Also worth mentioning is the very nice 32 page booklet that comes with the DVD. Very nice quality and good info. inside. I just wish they put more that 4 episodes on it! Anybody know when the next volume comes out? ENJOY! Quote
guyverfanatic Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 I think Guyver TV vol. 1 had a very good release. Volume 2 is due out on Jan. 7, 2007. Quote
Corrupt Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Wait, this is the new series already on DVD over here in the states? Or am i missing something? Quote
Corrupt Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 *Scribbles another items for his Christmas wish list* *Cackles* This'll be a good item to help introduce some of my friends to Guyver. Plus it'll be great for inspiration with some of my games that i run. *Is a RPer* Quote

There's a option to pre-order if you want too. Quote
Twilight-Guyver Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Hate to say it but as a fanatic I had to go to ebay and get teh entire 26 eps for like 40 bucks. It's not dubbed so it's all subtitled but I have to say I love it. I'm pretty far into it now and getting to the end hopefully by tomorrow. I did buy the first vol. dub and I have to agree that some of hte names are pronounced improperly and in the case of Gyro I prefer the new voice actor but I do miss agito original voice. Shos new voice actor is okay but the old one is my fav. and so is Tetsuros. I'm hoping that if season two is in hte making that it drops here atleast by late next year or atleast 2008. The excitement kills me. Quote
Guyver_0 Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 well nothing could replace the original Guyver series, but it doesn't mean that I can't still enjoy the new series, I'll be sure to order it for christmas. Quote
Twilight-Guyver Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Oh, the original is cool. I had to start rewatching it again to compare it with the new one. I have to say I lke some of the original voice actors in comparison to the new ones and the art work thatcame from manga is more closely done in the first series. The new one is more closely related to the manga though and some of hte new character designs are better here. Not to mention this series is longer and doesn't just leave you hanging . . . kinda Quote
Guyver_0 Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 ya I hated how the first series just ended with so many questions, now the new series actually goes farther into the Zoalords, chronos, Makashima and of course Masaki Murakami which really kept my mind boggling over but now it all makes sense to me. Quote
Twilight-Guyver Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Well that's good to hear. I think seeing more about Murakami really got me excited and seeing Alkanphel in action really sent me over board. Hmm, though I think seeing Aptom go toe to toe with Neo Zx-tole was pretty sweet too. Quote
TheGuyversWill Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 Alkanphel ruled the screen! That part where he just points his hand out and goes "boom". That was classic. Quote
Twilight-Guyver Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 Yeah, the reflection of hte guyvers Megasmashers back at them. That was nice. I can't wait for hte second season. Man to see more Zoalords in action is going to be so hot. Especially Rienzi. Special distortions, so awesome. Quote
TheGuyversWill Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 Still kinda sucks that they are only releasing one episode at a time. Quote
Twilight-Guyver Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 I can wait for now. I have no problem taking my time and waiting for the season to end before it hits ebay and I can once again grab it all. Good times, good times. Quote
TheGuyversWill Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 I meant to say four episodes at a time. I can wait too, but it still hurts. I bought a bootleg ages ago thinking it was the real thing only to be corrected. So I have seen the 26 episodes, just with the really badly managed sub titles. I can't wait to see the thing dubbed and reintroduce it to all my friends. The sad thing is that I was going to go out and buy like 6 of these and hand them out to friends for Christmas. When I found out it was only 4 episodes per disk it put a damper on that one. I know they're going to make more money off of the DVD sells this way, but it might deter the fans that aren’t so "hardcore". IMHO anyways. Quote
Twilight-Guyver Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Yeah, I think it's going to be a total of six disks total. Rather than the four disks you can get bootlegged. Oh well, I guess as long as some kind of tech' manual comes out ith every otehr disk it won't be too bad. Love to know more about the zoanoids. Helps write better stuff. Quote
TheGuyversWill Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Seriously? A tech manual? I haven't bought the first of these sets. Christmas drained the heck out of our bank account. But yeah, I love to spoil my 9 nieces and nephews! Quote
Twilight-Guyver Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Yeah the first disk came with a manual going over a few of hte zoanoids seen in eps. 1-8. Have some stuff on the basic characters and on guyver 1 and 2. It's good stuff. I'm hoping that vol. 2 is he same way, but if not volume three should have one depicting everything from eps. 9-16. Quote
TheGuyversWill Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 I'm going to have to pick that up with my first check of the new year. If you've noticed my signature, the big image that says "Check out this rack", I've been trying to pimp out Guyver on every online forum I visit. I'm trying to spread the good word if you know what I mean. A bit pricey, but well worth it to a Guyver Fan. Those DVD's are mine! Quote
Twilight-Guyver Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Vol. 2 comes out tomorrow, so you'll have to catch up. Man, it's good to see Guyver returning atleast anime-wise here. I just wish they would start doing the manga here again as well. That would really get things going again, I think. Quote
TheGuyversWill Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 They started releasing an english version of the manga again through another company. There should be a thread around here somewhere about how to get them. Not sure how far they've progressed into them as of yet... But it's still worth looking into. Quote
Matt Bellamy Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Things to note about the DVD's - It is going to be 7 volumes. - Vol 2 does not have a tech manual like Vol 1 does. However as mentioned, it's not surprising since the first book covered the first 2 volumes. Chances are Volume 3 will have one, but nothing is confirmed at this time. - Some animation flaws in the original broadcast have been fixed for the DVD release. ( most noteworthy is the openign hadno shading in some parts in earlier episodes. This is now fixed on the DVD.) - It rocks. Oh yes, it does. Just don't watch the "Fan" Commentary. The two guys they have on it are morons who barely even know what they are talking about. Quote
Twilight-Guyver Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Boo yow!! Up to date info. I really don't like fan commentary personally. Just give me a voice actor commentary and some director commentary, that'll do. Can't wait until it's all out. When's season 2 gonna start? Does anyone know? Quote
*zeo Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Well Takaya is rumored to be back to doing the Manga by April, so if his break is related to the next season production we should see something sometime after that. But that's assuming they are working on it now, which no one can confirm or deny yet officially. Quote
