According to DVD File, "Three "chilling tales of terror" will be hitting a DVD player near you on August 17th courtesy of New Line Home Entertainment. What was cut from the movie? Because I have the directors cut on video and I have no idea what was cut from it.

It was "The Guyver" that was the director's cut, according to the first post, and As for Riven's question, I dunno what has been cut, cause I haven't seen the director's cut anything yet.

Sweet, I hope I get the chance to get them on DVD, watching them on second hand video tapes with bad audio can be quiet annoying -_-

News update

Title: The Guyver Parts I & II

Starring: Mark Hamill

Released: 17th August 2004

SRP: $19.97

Further Details

New Line Home Entertainment has announced the release of The Guyver (also known as Mutronics), which stars Mark Hamill (Star Wars), Vivian Wu (Dinner Rush) and Jack Armstrong (28 Days, TV?s Live from Baghdad), and is based on the original Japanese anime comic. In the movie, a young man discovers a mechanical device that merges with his own body, turning him into a cyborg superhero. When strange creatures start appearing, trying to take the device back, he begins to uncover a secret plot to genetically engineer terrifying monsters. Presented in anamorphic widescreen (1.85:1) with Dolby Digital and DTS audio, this version of the film is a director?s cut featuring four minutes of extra footage.

Also on the release schedule is the follow-up, The Guyver 2 (also known as Dark Hero). Drawn to an archaeological dig in the Utah backcountry, the Guyver discovers an alien ship filled with weapons capable of world destruction. With the fate of all mankind in his hands, he makes a final stand against the forces of evil. This time, the world's strongest superhero must change his destiny to save the planet from the villainous Zoanoids. Once again the disc features an anamorphic widescreen (1.85:1) transfer and both Dolby Digital and DTS audio. Both films will be available from the 17th of August, at which time they will retail for around the $19.97 mark.

I was reading about this in a trade magazine at the video store I work at... the Guyver 2 DVD has no bonus features at all, but I plan to order both movies through work.

The one thing that bothers me is that they renamed Guyver: Dark Hero into Guyver 2. Which is fine. But in the first movie they still put Mark Hamil as the Guyver according to the cover. He didn't really star in that movie, it was Jack Armstrong. Mark Hamil was only a supporting actor...

Yeah, but Hamil is a famous actor and having his name on the cover would have at least pulled in a few unsuspecting viewers/

Do you actually 'Want' people to see the first movie? It actually makes people think Guyver is stupid, which in turn hurts sales of the second movie and the manga.

This is awesome news. My guyver1 vhs was screwing up, but that guy on the cover was'nt the guyver. He was the cop (Max) who Dr.Balcus forced to transform, but ended up killing him because he wasn't completed. Why is his picture on there?

That guy was Mark Hamil who played Luke Skywalker, he was stuck on the front to try and give the film some credit and star power.
